K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportscalling uscis
I am a June 6th NOA1 and today I sent a letter to one of my state Senators. I'm hoping the office will help move it forward because we are practically 6.3 months now and have heard nothing (NOA1 6/6 and last touched 6/13). I will also give USCIS a call come Monday. I've seen a lot of other June filers get approved so I'm not sure what is going on. You'd think it would make a case a bit easier when we are both unmarried, have never been married and have clean records... but who knows. Gotta try and get some muscle behind these things.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsjune filers NOA2 approved?

i was wondering why the others june filers are already been approved in VSC but still my NOA2 is initial review? can anybody tell me what's happening? thanks

You're not alone. We are June 6th NOA1 at VSC. I sent a letter to one of my state's senators last week and got a reply yesterday. It said the senator's office will inquire about my case at the VSC. I would suggest doing the same.

Yeah, I doubt they will do anything now. There still seems to be quite a few June filers waiting also, even early June filers... :( 6.8 months now for us

Also still waiting with a NOA1 date of 6/6. I called and asked for a service request, but the person on the other end said nothing can be done because the site still shows they are processing from 5/28 (as of 10/30 I reminded them to no avail). I sent a letter last week to one of my state's senators requesting assistance with our case. I'm really hoping something will happen soon.

Congrats nan2 on your approval!

6/11 NOA 1 approved today

Great to hear! Although, I have to wonder, what their rationale is for getting to some and not others, and out of order... Do you think your call helped somehow? 6+ months and still nothing

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJune 2012 Vermont Filers

When we filed in June we had hoped to celebrate Christmas/New Year together. Well that isn't happening but if we can be together for Vanlentine's that would be pretty kickass :) Havent met her since June :(

I am an early June NOA1 and I sort of gave my fiancee that idea (being together by Christmas). Now, however, I see that I was thoroughly uneducated and overly optimistic. I must have had it in my mind that a NOA2 meant that she could be on a plane the next week. Stupid, stupid... I hear ya. Last time I saw her was in mid-May.

I filed and got our NOA1 on May 9th. Still waiting on NOA2 to this day. A few more months and it will be 1 year of waiting. Ridiculous and unacceptable if you ask me.

That is insane! Have you tried writing one of your state senators? Within three weeks of writing my letter to my senator I got a RFE. After waiting almost 7 months, at least it's something...

I try and not think too much about the VSC because it just makes me upset.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports190 days waiting for noa2

197 days here. :( Called twice no results.

My fiancee had a good idea went to uscis website and instead of entering our case # she checked case # with a number close to us. Sure enough all the one we found at the same date as our are still in initial review status.

I did the same, but by the time we passed 200 days waiting, most of the ones I could find (checked about 20) were already approved or RFE status. We were at 211 days when we got our RFE, and after a senator's office inquiry. Now 19 days since they received our RFE response. All it said was something like "passport-style photo dimensions incorrect." So, I re-did them, really paying attention to every little between-this-and-that detail, even though I did the first time as well. So, how long could it really take to check the two photos I sent them?? This process is maddening.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNvc document help

My fiancée has been working on gathering the documents to prepare for the interview, does she really need original birth certificates to bring with her of all her family members or can she bring photocopies of the birth certificates and still have it considered valid. Also another question is I noticed the visa for London is £240 while the states say its $375 , now my question is if I wrote an American check for her of $375 would the embassy in London accept an American check or money order, or would I have to have the money converted into £ before it would be accepted. Thanks I'm advance

Not sure... it might say somewhere in Packet 3. I know for ours it says payable in Philippine pesos only. Safest bet would be to have it in GBP. We have used Xoom.com with great success. On the BC issue, I would *think* exact photocopies are okay unless it says otherwise.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsApproved, now what?

We were approved (received the noa2). Now what do we do? I e-mailed the NVC this past weekend, requesting our case number. I have the affidavit of support done (waiting on a letter from HR).
Are we going to get a packet in the mail?
Help, please.

You should probably call the NVC instead. I sent an e-mail last week and never got a response, even thought that is their "preferred" method. I called today and got the date NVC received it, date left for embassy in Manila and Embassy (MNL) case #, though they seemed very annoyed (or just tired) to be on the phone with me. Took about 20 mins wait each time... called twice to confirm.

This *may not* be totally identical to what is required in your case, but...

You will fill out (her signature not required):

DS-157
I-134 Affidavit of Support (when mtcmk1 lists petitioner sponsor files, I believe he/she refers to the supporting documents for I-134, which were in our case:)
- 2010, 2011, 2012 Tax Returns (Form 1040/1040A) with W-2s and any Investment related docs for those years
- Previous three months' paychecks/paystubs
- Letter from employer on business letterhead, signed by supervisor and/or HR
- Misc. Bank, Investment and Retirement account overview scans

These forms/documents are to be signed and dated by her, but you can fill them or fill them together like we did:

DS-156 - page 2 after you generate it using the online system, #41, Applicant's Signature
DS-156K - fill form but leave bottom part blank to be signed by her later
DS-230 (part 1 required only) - page 2, after #35, Signature of Applicant
Fiancee Letter of Intent (the one dated closer to interview)

I don't know when you will get Packet 3, but try finding it online. Some can go to U.S. Embassy/Consulate General-specific information and get to Packet 3, but it has nothing for KNG - Kingston. I was able to get to the one for Manila that way.

In your binder/packet with all the new forms you send to her, you also want to include what you sent to the VSC for I-129F. I just put the copy of that stuff in the back of a binder behind all the new documents.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsThe differences between CSC and VSC NOA 2's

I contacted my senator for assistance. My case worker emailed me this:

I have received the following response from an officer at the USCIS California Service Center regarding your case:

USCIS electronic records indicate the referenced I-129F case, WACXXXX-XXX-XXXX, was filed on 8/22/2012. Our current processing time is approximately 5 months from the date the petition was received. However, please note that our office has received a high volume of submissions in this workload. There is a current backlog and the petition is currently located with the adjudication division for the assigned I-129F workload (pending action).

Do our data analysts here agree that there is a high volume of submissions on this workload???

"There is a current backlog" (You don't say :bonk: )

Depends on what their definition of this workload is. Seems like they are lumping it all together to mean a broader workload than just I-129F petitions.

This is what I don't get either. They say it's located with the adjudication division pending action. Like, where else would it be before then?

It's clear to me that citizen petitions are taking a backseat right now to others for political gain. I might be misguided, but I can't see it any other way. I've looked at the data. I've read posts about DACA approvals. Some of them are complaining (or just lamenting like we are prone to do) that they have been waiting a whole 30 days. Sigh... because no, most have actually been waiting a lot longer than that. It's just recently that they've decided to force those approvals through quickly at the expense of citizen petitions. Something had to give with such mishandling, and it's likely more than just USC petitions.

Anyway, best of luck to you with yours getting pushed through and keep bothering them about it, especially to bring up that you're a USC.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsThe differences between CSC and VSC NOA 2's

I was sort of joking. I could do it too (I'm a web developer by trade) but if they saw spikes in activity they could well pull the system down and then we'd all be none the wiser so please don't :) That's why I suggested a manual pool - loads of people on here look up the previous 50 or so receipts and could report in a centralised place, and that's a fairly non-harmful amount of activity.

Or do it from various servers/IPs, rotating the post requests between them at longer random intervals (no spikes). I pulled millions of Zillow records from their API in a matter of days for statistical analysis somewhat using this method (and a ton of their API keys). Never got any messages from Zillow or banned accounts to this day.

JK, I don't advocating doing any of this for USCIS and it would be a lot of work if you tried.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPacket 3 Confusion

This is confusing now. I got packet 4 with the date of the K1 interview but never received packet 3. My visa interview is on 8th of March. On delhi embassy website, they just ask to bring all the documents to the interview. Even the packet 4 mentions that I need to bring the documents ( including DS 230 part 1) to the interview. I called the ustraveldocs helpline number but they had no clue.

My question is - do I need to send packet 3 to the embassy before the interview ? Can anyone shed some light on this ? I am thinking about just dropping packet 3 at the embassy tomorrow just to be on the safe side.

Have you checked Embassy page?

It's different for each consulate. In our case, it can all be brought to the interview.

Congrats on your interview date! Ours is 12th of March.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about the Visa Processing Fee

I assume your fiancé is the us citizen? Then you only pay for yourself as your fiancé isn't applying. It doesn't matter if fiancé attends interview or not, you only pay for people who need the visa

.

Thank you very much! You helped me out a ton. =)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about the Visa Processing Fee

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to figure out how much money I have to pay for the processing fee.

My letter states: Transfer the visa processing fee as of 26 march 2013 fee 192 ? fee for each applicant

My fiance won't be coming to the consulate, and I have no children or relatives applying with me. Do I have to pay just for myself, or also for my fiance?

Thanks in Advance!

Kelly

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsApril Filers 2013 K1

I think it really depends on the embassy. With us, we are going through Vancouver, and they take emails about k-1s but no phone calls, so we've emailed them and received packet 3 through email instead of waiting for it in the mail. But you should defiantly get started on collecting the items you'll need: police certificate(s), birth certificate, divorce decrees, I-134 & financial docs, etc.

As for NVC I do believe its the last time for the actual k-1, but not forever, AOS and all in the future...

Thanks for the help! We found out that the German consulate only accepts K1 visa phone calls at specific times during the week. I wonder if they'd email us our packet as well.

It's time to get busy with paperwork! I hope this process wraps up smoothly/quickly... for the both of us! For all of us! :)

I called and got my NVC number tonight... so excited!!! They said that our petition was sent to Frankfurt on Friday... I had been prepared for a longer wait, and now this is caught me off guard! I've been trying to research our next step... do we now wait for the consulate to contact us? After we receive our NVC number are we finished dealing with the NVC?

Thanks for the help - this thread has been a god send during this process. :)

Just received notice that we have an RFE is on it's way... I can't pretended that I'm not seriously bummed out (and wondering what it could be about?!), but I'm keeping my chin up and thinking positively!!! I'm glad that our files are finally being touched!

Anyone know how quickly RFEs are processed once the TSC receives them? Can I expect a decision pretty quickly once they have the additional evidence?
