That's my plan Karee. I am actually attempting to contact them ahead of time to determine their procedure upon detection prior to sending my fiancee there. Bumrungrad immediately put her on their treatment program which I am not happy about at all.

As a final effort if things seem to be similar at BNH I will contact the embassy to seek what our options are.

Congrats! On the co-sponsor issue, didn't you have that lined up ahaed of time? With all the info on the VJ forum I reckon you would have know the figures but anyway it seems like you've got one lined up. I would get the co-sponsor's tax returns/transcripts for 2009, 2010 and 2011, a current employment letter stating all the pertinient info and pay stubs (assuming he/she is not self employed) from January 2012 until the present.

If your fiancee has not yet had her medical, and if she is doing it at Bumrungrad, have her ask them to give her copies of all the DS forms, especially the DS-3025. My wife wasn't given anyhthing but when I e-mailed Bumrungrad they gadly e-mailed me certified copies of all of the documents which we submitted with our AOS. We now have a biometrics appt for 11/30/12 and will be visiting family hopefully in January or February! Good luck to you!

Yeah, the cosponsor was already lined up, but I didn't send it ahead of time due to all the information stating that BKK doesn't accept them. I contacted a lawyer after the fact about something else and he said that cosponsors are never considered, so if the CO said they wanted it just consider yourself lucky and comply.

About the medical, this has me fuming. My fiancee had her medical at Bumrungrad and the doctor refuses to submit it on her behalf. She had some abnormality on her chest x-ray and a positive skin test, but the sputum test was negative. Thus the doctor told her he was 90% sure she had INACTIVE TB, which to my understanding isn't grounds for denial and is largely up to the CO. Obviously, if she does indeed have inactive TB we want to treat it, however, since it isn't contagious we would like to be able to pursue treatment in the States. The doctor outright refuses to submit anything until she completes 6-12 months of treatment, which requires her to take the medicine at the hospital everyday. This is a huge problem because that means that my fiancee wouldn't be able to see her family during this time and is essentially a prisoner to the treatment.

I am trying to work out another way to handle everything because I feel, and the lawyer I spoke to agreed, the doctors are given far too much leeway. This combined with the fact that the hospital is for profit makes it all smell even worse. Considering a waiver is available, if it were needed, but only if the doctor submits the medical with the findings, but he refuses to do so.

It's a mess.

Just to follow. The interview went fine, they just wanted a co-sponsor and the medical. It seems the doctor never sent it to the consulate, nor gave it to my fiancee to bring. Everything ought to be cleared up by next week.

Thanks khwaidee1. We area a little on edge to be honest because she went for her medical and they found an abnormality on her chest x-ray. We are hanging on to hope that it will be nothing and it will all go through promptly. Otherwise, she will still pass the interview, but may experience a delay with the issuance of the visa.

Talk about a timely response. Packet 3 was sent on Monday and the appointment email was received Tuesday. Her interview is Thursday the 8th. :wow:

Thanks khwaidee1, I appreciate the kind words. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit concerned seeing the last two interviews resulting in a denial and administrative processing.

I'd probably blow up if it happened considering we lived together for over a year prior to this whole process. Amazing how much control a consular officer has over your future without actually knowing the entirety of your past.

Fingers crossed they give us a prompt interview date. My fiancee received packet 3 on Tuesday and will send it in tomorrow due to a family issue that caused a slight delay when she went home for a document.

Thanks for all your help everyone.

Tough to predict the interview date. Probably two weeks to get it into the visa section from NVC. Check interview schedual on embassy web site to see how the current interviews are set. Yours may never appear there due to timing. Dont worry about that now. If all dates shown are filled thru say Nov it may mean she will interview in Dec. This is very hard to say. I am sure you know embassy honors all up coming holidays so time is lost in Nov and Dec. They are always busy so they know how to get as much done as possible during these months inspite of what people think. You are in good shape for this time of year I think. A few weeks later would be much different.
Contact consulate section duty officer. Send them the NVC case number. Ask if case is with that section. Do not ask about interview date becuase they have zero to do with it. If that section has case you will have a good guess at when visa section will have it. Use that date to send in P 3 info. Make sure she has a copy of that submittal.
If P 3 is incomplete due to police report just submit what she has with a note indicating she will bring it in. They know if she doesnt they will not issue visa at that time. They would simply grant the visa but not place it in passport until the P 3 submittal was complete. She could return to embassy to pick up passport on any day embassy assigns.
Good to see embassy is responding to you. This is not always the case. This is tough for people to get thru but you will. There is a seeming avalance of things just around the corner then its over.

Thanks for the response Ning. I must say your words kind of put me at ease about the timing as I had worried about the holidays affecting everything quite a bit. I do hope they put the pedal to the medal and we can get our interview date lined up by the first week of December. That would be the best time possible.

As far as contacting the consulate section duty office, I did that with my first email. Using the proper format for the subject and they simply told me to contact the visa section, stating that they couldn't provide any information because they simply aren't involved.

Thinking back on it, it took about two weeks once the embassy got our file to notify us. We then sent in Packet 3 and got our interview in about 2 weeks after that. So, depending on when you send in Packet 3 you're probably loking at an interview mid to late November. They notified us on the 20th of interview date of the 27th but then moved it to the 28th.

I appreciate your responses too, Khwaidee1. I surely hope my processing follows a similar path.

Just to clarify one thing since you both have already completed the process. The embassy website states that they want the DS-156 in duplicate in the general information page, but the Packet 3 instructions don't stipulate that it needs to be in duplicate. I sent my fiancee two copies of everything, complete with my signatures on all necessary forms. Essentially she has two original copies of the entire Packet 3 (I have my own copy here as well). Will she need to send in two copies of the DS-156 with Packet 3?

Thanks again all.

Yeah, I had contacted the embassy and received word that she didn't need it. I passed on the word to her and she told me she was on the bus back to her hometown to get it. I wasn't going to argue as it doesn't hurt and if she feels more comfortable having it then that's good enough for me.

Thank go I got a jump start on everything because my bank messed up the letter regarding my account. As I spent the last four years in Thailand I drained my account there and found new work shortly after coming back in late January. Securing work that puts me well above the standards required. However, the bank sent my letter with a pretty huge error, stating that my total deposits were roughly $1800 less than they actually were. Thank go I have time to get a new one.

Since both of you have been through this process already...do you have any opinion on how quickly an interview could come about? NVC sent out my case on the 12th of October and the package was signed for on the 14th, but the Visa section has told me that they haven't received it. I know patience is a virtue, but after living together so long this time apart to make all of this happen is killer.

She won't receive the police clearance certificate until the 7th of November. If she were to receive Packet 3 before hand could she send a copy of the receipt in its place and bring the certificate to the interview? (If y'all don't know, no worries. I will be contacting the consular section with the same inquiry.)

Thanks for all the advice.

The format I copied below has been used many times. The " certification " is simply the statement you see. Anyone fluent in both languages can do it. There is no need for using a Thai Ministry that I know of.

Certification by Translator

I [typed name], certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and ________ languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled ______________________________.

Thanks for the response khwaidee1.

Are you familiar with any options in Bangkok and or with the self translation option which the Thai Ministry can validate? I myself am relatively fluent and probably more than capable of translating it along with the help of my fiancee who pretty much the same with English as I am with Thai. Although Thai grammar is much easier to understand than English Grammar.

I also noticed you went through everything recently. Congrats!

Was the Affidavit of Single Status actually needed? I am actually contacting the embassy today about it as my Fiancee has never been married, nor had children out of wedlock.

Greetings all,

My Fiancee just asked me to help her with the translation forms for her birth certificate and sent me the dead link to the mfa website. i am struggling to find a working link with similar forms.

Does anyone know of how I can go about finding and completing the forms for the translation?

I appreciate any and all help.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOMG!! After Long wait! Approved after 40 days!
all i can really say is it is an imperfect process altogether. and it involves a lot of emotions no matter how you look at it. we're dealing with issues tied to our loved ones and our futures together, it's simply impossible to separate emotions.

i hadn't read the whole thread before posting, but having read it now my opinions still stand. there are plenty of people on both sides with valid points and there are plenty with their heads up their bums. that's part of life.

i think we can all agree the whole process is a bit crazy? some people file and wait forever, others get approved quickly. some people initially met in person and have lived together for long periods of time before applying, while others meet on the internet and meet for a brief visit; but the applications are treated with equal scrutiny. and processing the latter could be smoother than the former.

all i am trying to reiterate here is that all of us are in the same boat, everybody needs to respect everybody regardless of emotions (which will be involved no matter what).

and nothing about any of this takes away from visajourney.com being the best site for those of us involved in this process.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOMG!! After Long wait! Approved after 40 days!

This is not a kindergarden where kids cant manage their emotions. We are all adults and is really sad that BAN all the approvals post, is consider an option cause people here cant handle other's VJ happiness. I know its frustrating, I went through the same thing, but it really gave me hope every time I read an approval.

Thats a fair option

evidently it is a place where emotions cannot be handled. all the people getting upset with the threads and all the people upset with the "haters."

i never said ban approval posts, i said banning approval threads could be an option. as in post up a storm about approvals, whether quick or slow, in your month's thread within the progress report forum. which is essentially what you called a fair option when another person somewhat agreed with my posts.

What types of things would suggest that people post in the forum titled K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports?

threads vs. posts. i actually believe it should all be monthly threads, with filers posting their progress within their month's thread.

for example...

a thread can be made for september filers, all september filers could post that they filed together and chat amongst each other.

there could be a thread for september approvals, as in everybody approved during september regardless of filing month, to celebrate and share their happiness with each other.

could even be a support thread for september rfes.

get where i am going with this?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOMG!! After Long wait! Approved after 40 days!
i don't think anyone honestly means that people shouldn't be happy and celebrate. in my opinion it really comes down to the word choices of some of the posters. it isn't entirely unreasonable to celebrate without posting how many days you waited, whether it be long or short. if you get approved very quickly, it's a bit insensitive to the rest of those in your community to post exclaiming how long the wait was in spite of it the fact it was a fast approval.

personally i don't think it would be a bad idea to ban approval threads altogether. they happen to clog up the forum and are fairly useless. i believe it's a post that should be made within your filing month thread as opposed to its own thread.

Good evening all. I was curious as to know if the I-129F fee can be paid for by a family member via personal check.

If it is possible should it be noted that it is the fee for my application?
