CaribbeanWaiting on Domex...

Just heard back from the consualte (after a second email). They said the case is in Administrative Processing??? This is the first we've heard of this. We already paid Domex and turned in her passport. They gave no indication of a timeframe when this will be done. My hope for Christmas is slipping away....

Oh no! Although we haven't been placed on AP, I did a little digging before and seeing from other's experiences being in administrative processing (AP) isn't good. They use it to drag out time for extra investigation. Some people have been in AP for over a year. Sorry, just want you to be prepared :( I'll pray that your suegra makes it in the minimal amount of time for AP to finish (maybe 4-6 weeks?). I do think that is so weird that they have placed her in AP...Has she been to the US before?

Yaaah! Checked the domex site and our paquete has left the consulado and is in route. We're thinking Monday hubby will have it in his hands. Super glad consulado isn't holding on to it :)

CaribbeanWaiting on Domex...

Or I guess we're acutally waiting on the consulate...

My mother-in-law was approved for her IR5 visa on November 19th. She was asked to pay Domex and return with her passport and one additional document (they wanted my proof of residency even though I am not the petitioner and really had nothing to do with the case... frustrating). She turned everything two days later on November 21st. Anyone know processing times for Domex these days? They said 3-4 weeks and it's been 3 weeks today. We were really hoping it would have come through by now because she's supposed to fly here on the 15th... we might be re-scheduling that flight :/. My husband is down there so if it comes through between now and Friday he can drive down to get it, instead of waiting on it to arrive in Santiago. Is there still hope?

Domex website says it's still at the consulate, hubby called the DOS a few days ago and they had no info other than the status is "processing". Thanks!

I'm waiting on my hubby's passport to arrive from domex as well. We called the DOS and they told us that the visa has been issued already, but it has been over a week now. If you don't mind, how did you obtain info from the domex site? I would like to see if our packet is still at the consulate as well.

Thanks!

No dice :( Called again today and DOS still say it's "processing". Cancelling the flight and hoping it still works out in time for her to come for Christmas. Lesson learned about buying the flight before visa in hand. We did this back when my hubby went through the process (again it was around Christmas and we didn't want to risk them going up) but it worked out that time. Hopefully by the time it comes through we can still get a reasonable flight.

I do still think it's increadibly rediculous that #1 the delay is because of some unrelated document they never requested prior to the interview and #2 this document was turned in 3+ weeks ago and is probably just sitting on someone's desk....

Exactly, we are so ready to buy the flight but have been warned to wait until the visa and passport are in hubby's hands! Hopefully this ends for both of us soon

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)I-601 Santo Domingo process times
Hi everyone, we submitted our waiver in Santo Domingo Dominican Republic in April (before they started processing them in the U.S.), and 5 1/2 months later we are still waiting.
Has anyone recently had there waiver approved out of Santo Domingo?

Its so discouraging to see people submitting their waivers to the lockbox in the U.S. after we did and we are still waiting... Wondering if it's possible to "re-submitt" ours to the U.S.
(FYI the consulate in santo Domingo said it could take up to a year!)

Any suggestions or experience in this situation is truly appreciated. Thanks

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)i - 601 as time goes bye
I feel your pain, I'm so frustrated that there aren't many threads on here about the I-601 wait!

I think all the confusion came when they changed to processing the waivers in the U.S. instead of at the international offices. BUT, for all of us who filed right before that went into affect and still filed our waivers in our international offices, we are stuck in limbo and it is taking ridiculously long for our waivers to process. It's painful to watch people who have submitted their waivers after ours getting approved already.

We filed our waiver on April 3, 2012 out of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. We didn't get a receipt of acceptance and when we called they said that our waiver application was in the United States. Called NCIS in the U.S. but they said no, the waiver has to be in Santo Domingo still because there is no receipt #. Finally after many inquiries to the Santo Domingo office, they say on July 29th, "Oh we do have your waiver here in Santo Domingo, it's in process and it should take 4-6Months." Ok, as of today it is 7 months since we submitted our I-601 so WTH?! Called 2 weeks ago for an update praying that they would say "you've been approved, se aprobado!" but NO. They said, "your case is going well, there are no red flags, and you will be getting a phone call and that's when a decision will be made" GREAT, FINALLY!. However, 2 weeks later, no phone call still waiting...when is this nightmare going to end?!

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)I-601 waiver APPROVED
I cannot believe this day is here. Our I-601 waiver of inadmissability has been APPROVED. My husband received his letter today in Santo Domingo. just wanted to let everyone know that with patience and perseverance it will all pass one day. We first started this process in 2009 while we were engaged, thru to 2010 when we were married, 2011 when our son was born, until now November 2012 with an approved waiver! 3 years later and our prayers were answered.

The scariest part was the waiver process. I have been calling the consulate in the DR every 2 weeks since May 2012 (we submitted our waiver April 3, 2012). I kept sending inquiries as to what was going on with our waiver, and I believe that helped or it would still be sitting under someone's desk! Most important is this visa journey community. With all the knowledge you provide and all of you wonderful people going through these visa processes, I was able to fill everything out and wrote my own I-601 application without a lawyer. I am proof it can be done!

We are probably some of the last stragglers of the old process where you had to submit you waiver to the international office your spouse was from (you all who are submitting to the US are blessed) but Hold on. Santo Domingo is extremely slow, they don't update their systems regularly so it can get frustrating. Just keep calling and keep getting answers. But as for me and my husband, our nightmare is over Wepa! Buena Suerte y que Dios bendiga a todos :)

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Medical Exam
In Santo Domingo you cant just call the Dr and get info, and the embassy said it was up to the dr office to determine which vaccines were necessary. They are not controlled at all and have free reign to vaccinate people however they want. They ended up vaccinating my husband with ALL of the shots he took last year. He showed them his record and the Dr still insisted that he take every one of them again. More shots = more money for the Dr. That's how things are in the Dominican :(

6 months it is. But what about the vaccinations? My husband thinks that he has to repeat those as well, but I don't think he has to get re-vaccinated, only a physical exam, right???

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Medical Exam
Ok so our Waiver has been approved, thank you God, but now they are saying that he needs to retake his medical exams??? I thought the exams were valid for 1 year? it will be one year on Nov 21, but he shouldn't have to retake his exams right until then right? I hope not because this is even more money that we don't have.

Does anyone know how long the exams is valid for? (btw this is out of Santo Domingo, Dom. Rep)

THanks,

OMG that is crazy! you would think that they could at least tell you why. All I can say is have patience mija and stay strong!

I don't really understand the whole reason for AP, but I've also read that sending an email to the visa unit in Santo Domingo as well as the NVC will get you response as well. I pray you get some good news soon.

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Please No AP!!!
So... for the past week we have been fearful that my husbnad was put in AP because we had to submit a new medical exam, police record, and our son's birth certificate. When my husband submitted our son's birth certificate on DEC 4th (1 day after talking with an officer and sumbitting his passport and med exam and paying the domex fees) the lady at the window, with her condescending attitude and smirk, told my husband "Thank you, processing will finish in 4-6weeks" 4 TO 6 WEEKS? WHAT :ranting: !!! what else is there? what is she talking about? They only have to send him his visa and passport in the mail and that should only take 1 week, right???

(fast forward 1 week)....

Today I called the DOS number here in the U.S. to try to confirm if the devil was attacking us again and we were put into AP. GREAT NEWS! The nice man on the phone said, "don't worry, the visa was issued and is ready" my husband is in the system for a valid, completed, and issued visa! The DOS officer said that he wasn't aware of Santo Domingo's practices but that we will be getting it either in the mail or have to pick it up (Santo Domingo delivers via Domex, fees paid already). So Any. Day. Now. The mailman should be making a delivery soon..."Si estoy con Dios, quien contra de mi?"
