I don't have a job at the moment as I am attending a university full time. Though, I am sure my parents are willing to help me with this. Is it possible to file I-134 in their name .. or how should I go about this?

We're doing very well. From filing to interview date - 92 days. But I've got a few questions regarding the stuff being sent to my fiance:

1) I've read in a few places that the consulate sends the beneficiary 1st package that the beneficiary is supposed to fill out, send back, and then she'll get a 2nd package, or something like that. My fiance only got one package and it seems to be complete, every form she needs to fill out seems to be there, all the requests for a medical and the police record. Is this normal - to only get one package?

2) Her international passport was/is due to expire in 4 months. She applied for a new one already and is supposed to get it around April 12th. We don't want to fill out all the forms just yet because the way their system is - their old passports don't get extended. They get a completely new passport with a new passport number. Also, they may decide to spell my fiance's name differently in English than they did on her current passport. So we want to wait until we have the new info. Her interview date is March 28th. So is it ok to wait, or does she need to fill out some forms (the electronic 156 one for example) earlier?

3) DS-230 asks about all the educational institutions she's attended (question 23). I'm assuming this doesn't start with elementary school... So what does it start with? She attended first grade at some other school she doesn't remember.. how important is this? Maybe only higher ed stuff is needed?

As odd as it sounds, they are probably in customs. I would call fedex U.S. and ask exactly where they are (you can see this online, probably as much as they will know) but you shoudl be able to tell where in the system the docs are at. FedEx is still an American Company so push them. 1-800-GO-FEDEX.

If they say, we don't know, ask for a trace, if you get no relief, ask for a supervisor.

I actually called that number and also their international line. First they said that would send some sort of a notice to the customs to hurry them up. Then they told me that the package should be released either today or tomorrow (from this morning's phone call). Today nothing changed. Somehow I'm not trusting them with tomorrow either :(((

I know it's not their fault, but I've read that DHL and UPS deliver normally, without such delays. Unfortunately I read this after using fedex...

P.S.
They are in customs.. And I don't understand at all why customs would keep a package with just documents for so long.

The I-134 is a critical piece of evidence at the Interview. Without it, visa issuance will more than likely be delayed. Sometimes the visa is approved, but you get a 221-G with terms to deliver the I-134 and they will issue the Visa.


So she should still go to the interview and not reschedule it, they'll just ask to bring the financial docs later?

Hi guys,
I'm desperate.. don't know whether to sue them or strangle them (Fedex).
My fiancee's interview is on March 28 (Next Wednesday). I mailed her the affidavit forms and other financial documents along with some proof of us having met in person, etc. (she has other proof, though). I mailed all of this to Moscow via Fedex on the 12th. On the 15th the package arrived in Moscow and its status has been "clearance in progress" since then. I've called and emailed them numerous times with no effect. They keep telling me "soon" all the time.

How important are the financial docs at the interview? What should we do?

US Citizenship General DiscussionWhat to bring to the Naturalization interview?
My wife, who came here via a K-1 visa in 2007, is going to her Naturalization interview this Friday. The invitation letter says to bring her passport, our marriage certificate, my naturalization certificate, an ID and the invitation letter. But I've also read on here that the immigration officers at the interview often request tax return forms for the past 3 years, proof of residence, etc.

So, does anyone have a full list of what they may request? Is this actually stated anywhere on their website or in any of their letters, or do they just decide on a whim what they want to look at during the interview?

Sonia had her interview this morning and passed. She arrived at 10:25 for a 10:30 appointment. She was seen at 10:35 and was out with her approval at 11:30. The interviewer was an elderly gentlemen who was very kind and reassuring when he saw how nervous she was. One of the things was to give her directions to his office to see if she understood. He only asked six questions because she answered them all correctly. They were: For how many years are representatives elected?, How many voting members in the House of Representatives?, Who was the first President?, Who is Chief Justice of the Supreme Court? Name a war the US fought int he 1900s. What month do we vote for President?

The reading was When do we vote for President?, and the writing was We vote for President in November.

He asked for the past three years income tax returns and said that was a common cause of rescheduling for people who forgot them. We took both the returns and the IRS Form 1722.

He also wanted proof of residence from this year so she showed him our real estate tax bill with both our names.

Swearing in is for Friday the 16th at 1:00PM.


Hey, where does it say that you need to bring income tax returns and proof of residence? Our interview letter just says about marriage certificate, naturalization certificate of the citizen spouse, an ID, a passport, green card, and the letter itself.

This is unbelievable guys, a NYC september filer got his interview scheduled already and we are still stuck here, this is really outrageous. Feels like they dumped us in hole and forgot about us!!!


My wife's interview is this Friday, so things aren't completely stuck. Obviously that's not much consolation to you, but I suggest you contact your representative and ask them to help you. Our case has been stuck twice before and both times our congressman's office helped us out and got the case moving within a month.

We're on Long Island, in Suffolk County, so the interview will be in Holtsville, same place my wife had her biometrics done. Hopefully the process starts moving for all other New Yorkers as well.

Guess what guys!! I've been looking around posts from new yorkers from april and may. Most interviews scheduled for next month are for those who applied in april and may. Meaning that new york field office is taking 6 to 7 months on average to adjudicate citizenship cases. That's great news for us augudt filers!!!. I predict that the luckiest one of us will get his interview done by last week of january with most of us having it on february and oath ceremonies in march. Unbelievable, we're behind all other field offices although we have 3 facilities!!!


Nice calculation there. I'm too lazy to do it myself, so it's good that you did :)) Anyway, end of January ain't too horrible.. Though, I was hoping for my wife to have her passport by the end of this December, this obviously isn't happening. Maybe all of us New Yorkers should write a class action complaint about how long it takes and send it off to USCIS and/or our congresspeople. They do start moving quicker when people complain :)

Contacting my congressman has helped us before with both of my wife's green card applications. So maybe I'll try that route again...

Hi everyone,
For the NEW YORK CITY filers, has anybody placed a service request??, I believe we are allowed to do so if it has been more than 40 days since our application has been placed in line for interview scheduling and we still didnt get an interview date. It's unbelievable that every district in the country is moving except for new york, even NY july filers didnt get an interview date. The weird thing is that we have 3 facilities that take care of cases here, Garden City, Holtsville and Federal Plaza. Both Holtsville and Garden City are pretty big, but we are still being left behind. Anyway my 40 days is coming up friday next week, they will be hearing from me that's for sure. Second service request coming on the way, one for fingerprints and one for interview, GOD!!. Please let me know where I can buy some patience, cos I am running out of it, Lool.

Went into the Holtsville office for FP today. Huge office, silly security. They made everyone take off their shoes passing through the metal detector. I didn't take mine off (large black sneakers) and they didn't notice it. But they noticed my wife's shoes and made her take them off. Pure security theater... Anyway, huge office and only 1 or two people with us in the room for finger prints. Though, they may have been there for something else. The whole thing took no more than 10 min and I was on my way to work.

Do they have the naturalization interviews and oath in the same field office as FP or will that be at a different location?

I used the date of when the NOA was issued by USCIS. This date is printed on the upper right hand corner of the physical NOA notice. I don't think we should measure the speed of USPS delivery, n'est pas? :unsure:

You can only edit your posts/comments a short time after you post them. After some period of time (5/10 min? I'm not sure) passes by, editing is disabled. You need to reply to the latest table post, remove the "quote" tags, and edit your information. It's all in the instructions of every table post.

The date we receive the physical NOA. The SMS/email isn't really a NOA. But it seems like some people did put their email date as a NOA date. I don't think it's a big deal, but it's probably better to be consistent.

I'm so sorry, I neglected to put that information on my profile as well :bonk: we filed our N400 on 08/03/11 and we sent it to Lewisville TX lockbox.. forgive me but I don't know how to add myself to the list, can someone assist me :unsure: thanks :thumbs:

How do you guys check what your Field Office is? And what's it for, the interview location?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A place of residence if deceased and Russia address format
Ok, I have three questions.
  • We're filling out G-325A. My fiance's mother has passed away a number of years ago; what should she put for her mother's "City and Country of Residence"?
  • The postal address scheme in Russia is somewhat different from that in US. If anyone is familiar with it, what should we put for her home & work addresses so that the application doesn't get rejected and also when someone needs to send my fiance mail, it actually gets to her?
  • The G-325A application has 4 identical pages. What gives? What do we do with them?

Hi,
I'm filling out the G-325A for myself now, and am a little confused about what to put as my addresses for the 5 years.
I have an address in NYC (with my sis in law) on my driver license because it's convenient for me, but I don't actually live there. On the weekends I'm living with my parents in NJ and this is where most of my stuff is. During the week I'm in NY in Long Island where I go to the university, and there I change addresses every semester. So technically I guess I've been living all the 5 years in NJ with my parents, but my driver license states otherwise, and I have a buncha other addresses where I've stayed for random amounts of time. So how do I fill this out?

Also, the I-129F asks the address of where my fiance will live in US. She'll live with me, but I don't know where I'll live by that point because I may or I may not move by then (probably will, and I know the address where I'll be living, but this isn't 100% certain). What should I put for that?

Also, the A# they ask for everywhere, that's the Alient registration #, right?

Aaaalsoo, I know we're supposed to provide proof of our communication, etc. I don't really have any phone bills, because at first I was buying calling cards, but they're cheap, so i only got a handful, and now we're talking through google-talk all the time (audio chat), so there are really no records of this...

The NOA2 says "The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate."

Now I was under the impression that after USCIS sends the stuff to NVC... Notice date is Jan 23rd, and I called the NVC to check if they got anything just now (28th), but they didn't get anything.

Also, no consulate is listed anywhere on the notice... at least I didn't find one listed, so what is that supposed to mean?

Well I called NVC today and they still don't have case. I had a NOA2 from CSC dated 1/18/2007 and of course the notice said that it was being sent to NVC and this is 2 weeks later. The person at NVC said it could take up to 90 days, but usually no longer than 30, and to just keep calling back! So that's what I'll do.
