Mexico, Latin & South AmericaK-1 visa . anyone from peru going through this proces
QUOTE (Jose V.. @ Jun 3 2009, 09:58 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I just recently finished the process for the k-1 visa. My fiance had her interview last week and i had sent in all the documents to vermont service center back in december so its a pretty quick process. I also received an RFE because i didnt put NO on the question regarding whether I had committed a crime or not, since it seemed to be linked to military experience which I have none. I would recommend taking your time to fill out all the paperwork properly and search the site for most of the information and when in doubt just post a topic or pm a member to ask specific questions. My process was pretty simple and easy. For proof of relationship I only sent in like 5 pictures with the 129f and the receipt for the engagement ring. Also, at the interview all my fiance took besides the necessary paperwork was 15 pictures of the various trips I've made to see her. Before I submitted the application I had been down to peru about 4 times to see her, then after submitting the application I only went one more time and everything turned out all right. Well if you have any specific questions feel free to pm me and I'll be more than glad to help you will find out that everyone is here to help out each other and lend any type of information they might have on the process. Good luck and just be patient.

Thank you so much to everyone for responding and being so helpful. It is so nice to have all of your support! biggrin.gif

QUOTE (conquest @ May 31 2009, 11:41 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
What help do you need? We were a CR-1 visa but maybe we can help with some thing

Is there anything specific to Peru that they may be looking for? When I have read some of the other posts, they have talked about certain countries wanting additional information or specifically looking for certain types of proof.
Also by the time I file, we will only have met in person 2 times (which I do have photos), but we e-mail everday, sometimes several times, phone calls, online chats. Will that be sufficient for the requirement of having met? Will that be enough to be considered an actual relationship.
Thanks for offering to help. I just want to make sure everything is right.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaHi, I'm from Peru
Hi! I'm not from Peru but fiancee' is in Arequipa (we just got NOA 1 on May5). I live in south central PA. I've enjoyed reading your posts because I have been so worried about things he will miss from home once he is here. I've already found a wonderful Peruvian restaurant and market where we can find some Peruvian foods. I'm even practicing some cooking for him-ha. His favorite dessert is Tres Leche cake. I've been looking for a recipe for it but the ones I've come across dont seem like the ones I've seen in Peru. If anyone has or knows where I can get the recipe for this please let me know.
Thanks for letting me barge in on your posts!

Thanks everyone for your input on everything-
I would still like information from anyone if the have it on the RENIEC office in Arequipa-
My fiancee' says there is an office in Arequipa and they told him they can do it and will be the same as having it done in Lima. Does that sound accurate?
I just want to make sure. We're so close and I dont want to hold anything up by not having papers properly certified. (Our interview date is Aug 16)
Thanks again

I look forward to hearing about when you get packet three and your interview. I'm in Lima hoping to get packet three within 1-2 weeks. As far as the affidavit goes, I don't think anyone can give you a black and white answer. The cosponsor could be considered less credible if it is not a family member, but that is just a matter of the CO's opinion, so there's no way to know for sure. Be sure to take any opportunity to explain that this person has been with your sister for so many years. Good luck. I'm also using a cosponsor; if I get my interview first I will let you know how it goes.

Yes, definately keep me posted and Good Luck

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionFrom Arequipa
Hi everyone. My fiancee' is from Arequipa, Peru. We just got our NOA2 (only took 6 weeks)! We're getting everything for the next step ready and I have a few questions.
For my I-134 I'm just above the poverty level required for previous years but to be on the safe side I have a co-sponsor but he is not a relative. He is my sisters boyfriend(they've been together 20 years). Will it be a problem that he is not a relative?
Second question- Will the Lima embassy allow us to pick his visa up at the DHL office rather than flying back to Arequipa to wait for it?
And third-I've already been given information about getting items Reniec certified (thank you Susita). But pertaining to that, they have a Reniec office in Arequipa; can the papers be certified at that office rather than in Lima. The Arequipa office tell us yes, but want to make sure.

I'm also interested in hearing from others from Arequipa for any extra information they can give me that might be helpful in any area of this process.

Thanks in advance to all.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMigratory Movement
Thank your for your replys. Any helpful hints for the interview? Also, my fiancee' still hasn't received his pkt #3. They responded once saying it was mailed on July 9 and gave me our interview date, I e-mailed again but as of yet have not received a second reply. Has this happened to anyone else? I know we need the interview letter- correct?

Hi everyone- My fiancee' and I have our interview in Lima on August 16th. As I'e been reading posts from other people I keep seeing them talking about migratory movement certificates. Is this something that we need in Peru for our interview?
Thanks

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPeru Embassy, Package Sent

Thank you very much for your response. At least now I feel more at ease that whenever she gets the package the letter will also be included and she wont have to wait another while before receiving it. Now i just have to get her to make an appointment with the doctor and hopefully she will have the letter by then to take to the appointment. Thanks for all your help.

I am just now going through the process and luckily I e-mailed them and they responded with the interview date so we had some time to prepare.
I have a question though-
When and where did you pay your fee. I understand we have to pay in advance? I know it has gone up to $350.00.
Any information on this would be appreciated.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDS-156 & Fees
Hi-First off- thank you to everyone who has been so helpful so far. I appreciate it.
I have 3 questions
1. My question is about DS 156, question 28- (I have reviewed the sample forms and guides)
I understand this must be an honest answer and would be myself and fiancee'
My question is-will there be a problem with that answer. I have read posts in the past that giving any type of money/support has been seen as buying a spouse. Would answering that question that yes, I am helping to pay for trip here be seen like that? Has anyone else answered myself and fiancee' and had any trouble with that answer.
2. Does the petitioner get a copy of packet 3 also. They told me they sent me one on July 9 and to "just wait for it." I'm confused as to if I have to fill out any more documents.
3. I know I have to pay the fee in advance but where and how far in advance. I have been told that I will be given interview date after paying the fee, but they e-mailed me that our interview would be Aug 16. Has it been normal for others to get interview date with packet 3?

Well, I guess thats actually more than 3 questions but..............I'm open to any input you can give me

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHow do we get the envelope
Hi all
2 questions

1. I've been reading about the brown envelope.
Does the embassy send this with the visa?

2. We had our interview but my fiancee has to turn in an additional police certificate to Lima Embassy. They said to DHL it to them with his passport and they well send the visa at that time. Has anyone else had to do anything like that before?
I'm asking because I know normally you would pay at the DHL stand at the embassy for them to send the visa, but we could not because need to send the certificate.
Can we pay at any DHL office and send that info with the passport? Or how would they know we paid the fee to make sure it gets sent?

Any info is appreciated

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134- Number of dependents question

hello
so would my grandfather who will be co-sponsoring the I-134, put his wife as a depeindent?

she has her own job, and they file for taxes seperately.

so would this mean he needs to be above poverty guidlines for only 2...him/my fiance, or for 3? him/her/fiance?

It would only be 2- your fiancee' and your grandfather
(thats how my brother in law filled his out because my sister is self-supporting)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCosta Rica Police Certificate

Sorry you could not get the Visa now, just a little while longer hopefully :)

How was the interview?

Interview was very easy. Asked how we met, if either of us were married before, asked me (US citizen) what kind of work I did. Looked at a collage I made at photo store of 6 pix. (Well they asked if we had pics, but they didn't really look at them) Said all good except for needing the certificate.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCosta Rica Police Certificate
Hi everyone. Well we had our k-1 interview today in Lima.
Went very well with 1 exception--
My fiancee is Peruvian but lived in Costa Rica for 6 years. He called Costa Rica prior to our interview to ask about a police certificate and they said they do not issue them for this type of thing. (Which of course, I pretty much knew was wrong, but thought well maybe.......) Anyway,
Could anyone give me information on how to obtain a police certificate in Costa Rica? Must he go there or is there another way to get it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Freda

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPolice Record in Every City?

Hello and thanks for your reply. So are you saying he does not have to go the TAZA for any additional police records/certificates.? Just the local police department in Casablanca.

That is correct. One for each country.
Good luck.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIR1/CR1 Case in Vermount

Hello,

How do i check if my file has been touched. I have been going through the forum and people have said that they see that their file has been touched.
But i don't know how to find that out on-line.

Thanks

I'm still quite new here and am not sure how it all works, but.....
When I filed I signed up on the USCIS site to have e-mail notifications and updates each time but never received anything and my file was never "touched" but it was completed quickly and received NOA 2 about 6 weeks later.
Sometimes a file never gets "touched."
Go to USCIS.gov and on left of page you can click on "check my case status" and enter case # and it will give you a general idea of where they are with your case. You will also have the option to sign-up for updates, but dont be too disappointed if you never get any.
And I'm sure more experienced members will be able to give you more advice.
Best of Luck to you

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures2 questions about I-129F
Thanks to all for your answers.

I was fingerprinted but not convicted.
And I do want to list that he has the children because will eventually file for them, but not now. Need to work things out with his ex for that.

Thank you again to everyone, you have helped a lot!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures2 questions about I-129F
I am getting ready to fill out the I-129F and have 2 questions-

1. One question asks if I have ever been arrested or convicted of domestic violence even if records have been cleared.
I was arrested (because it was a mandatory arrest in NY where I was living at the time) on a complaint filed by my ex. I was not even in town when the complaint was filed. Any way I made and appointment arreast and plead not guilty and had an automatic court dismissal. (It was not for a violent crime-claims of shoving into a wall). Does that count as something I need to list in that section. All arrest records were cleared, but I am afraid if they come across it somewhere, they will think I am trying to hide something. Should I just list it with the letter from the courts clearing me of the charges?

2. Another section asks for my fiancee's children to be listed. We are not applying for them to come at this time. They currently live with his ex-wife and that is something we are going to look at after he is here and settled. Do I still list them on the form?

Thanks for all your help

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat do I send with my DS-156K

I have heard I just need to send the forms in for packet 3, and no supporting evidence, until the interview.

However, i need to send in the DS-156K. This asks for "documents to be attached in order to apply for a fiance non immigrant visa".

This sounds like a really dumb question; Do i attached the supporting evidence with theis form or not?!

Help

Thanks

What embassy are you filing through?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWife did not make it past homeland and got k-1 cancelled

Posted Image Sorry I'm confused.

When my fiance (now husband) was coming here on a K-l and we had a few issues (luckily nothing to that extent), I
e-mailed the embassy for guidance on what step to take next (he was from Peru though). But they did e-mail back in a few days with helpful information. They seem to be much more helpful online than on the phone.

Note: I dont know as much about all the processes as a lot of people on here, so if anyone disagrees with trying this please say so. I dont want to do more harm than good.

Best of luck to you.
