K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWaiting for a NOA2 from VSC for your I-129F?

Actually, a LPR cannot file such a petition for family members. Only United States Citizens may do so.

So the short answer is yes, however, they have to wait 3 years before they apply for and receive their Citizenship before one can do that.

Those are the same sort of responses I am getting from my family - some say he has petition for her once he becomes a Citizen - others say because of her age she is elligible for a visitors visa - i'll have to look into it - just thought maybe someone here had an idea or was thinking similar thoughts in regards to their inlaws.

His father passed away when he was very young and he's taken care of his mom all these years - she makes it very hard for both of us - as excited as we are - she is not so excited.

Thank you all for your support

What is the actuall phone number for VSC?

I used the RFE trick to get to VSC:

1-800-375-5283
1, 2, 2, 4, 2, 1, case number, 1, 1

I think that is right star_smile.gif

Thank you -

Does anyone have any advice on how to get through the next few months. I seem to be having a horrible time lately. Nothing seems to make me happy, and i can't get out of the rut i'm in even when he's on the phone. It's putting quite a damper on things. I am usually the rock and lately - not so much. crying.gif

Also - does anyone know anything about obtaining a visa for his mother? Does he need to be a citizen first or can she come on a visitors visa - she's 55+. helpsmilie.gif

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hey VSC peeps!!!!

I just called VSC and got a nice woman on the phone. I asked her if there was a problem with my petition (via RFE trick) and she looked up my case and said that it has not been reviewed yet (grrr) but she did say that it should be coming off the shelf soon so hopefully that is some good news for all of us still waiting. She did say "it should not be much longer".

So for everyone waiting, hopefully it will not be too long smile.gif

This sounds promising, Zee. Good for you! Thanks for sharing. Your day is approaching..... You sure you're ready? wink.gif laughing.gif

OMG!! Jason, I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ready!!! I would like to check my e-mail one day, find the approval notice and call my faince and tell him we have been approved. Ahhh, it would be a dream come true smile.gif

Is that too much to ask?

What is the actuall phone number for VSC?

Congratulations btw!!

Ok what i am about to say may cause a ruckus but i think i am prepared for it. I have come to rely on VJ.com for support as most others have as well. But I had a thought today - all these hopes we have - all these statistics we read are all ONLY based on the people who are actually logged onto VJ - but that thought- along with seeing that i had moved down to 129 rather than 124 and realizing there were probably just as many people if not more not logged into VJ -How many of these 128 people ahead of me are actively updating their timelines. How many people out there actually cared enough to continue to give us their updates? In looking at the portion of the list that shows the latest approvals the petitions being approved are all showing having received their NOA2's within about 90 days of their NOA1 - with the exception of the one or two who were from march and april.... While i agree that they are not approving too many cases these days - how many approvals are actually being recorded on here? is the excitement of an approval distracting once committed VJ'ers from keeping our statistics alive??

Just a thought......

my question is - is there a way around not being able to save the filled out pdf's. When i filled out the 129f and G325 I was warned i could only print not save.....

I used the full version of Acrobat 8, and that allowed me to save changes to PDFs.

Thank you so very much - you deserve some kind of special recommendation or a speedy approval or something... you're always here - and full of useful information and not just workin for your self but all of us...

You really are great..... thank you!

So i just got my NOA2 today - also found this forum today - and cried for the first time while on VJ today - i don't even care that i'm #124 on this amazing list. Its just good to have something to track - i had never been so desperate to be touched or poked or whatever!! tongue.gif

We spent a long 3 hours on the phone today - its amazing how u can find so much to talk about when not limited to a phone card (he doesn't do it often, but every once in a while he'll call from the house and run up a phone bill) i always get off the phone after one of these calls so sad for a while i've forgotten he's so far away and then it has to come to an end - he told me he had to go an hour and a half into it - but somehow i managed to keep him on for another hour an a half......Love is simply amazing.

Enough of that on a funnier note - my best friend wants to know if there is a support group like this for best friends of ppl waiting for approval! She's goin nutz listening to me...

Good luck to all and thank you for this wonderful list!!

Hello! This is the thread I visit most often while on VJ. It's nice seeing the list and knowing about where you stand. We've all been waiting awhile but hopefully things will speed up soon.

Good luck!

Ok i have a question .... I got my NOA1 which in turn allowed me to register on USCIS and check case status.... my NOA1 has a date of Aug. 13 but on the USCIS site it shows last updated on aug 17 - is that because that is the date i registered or is it possible i was touched on the 17th??

I am confused about this touching thing. Its funny - i thought i'd be relieved when i got the NOA but instead i'm still just anxious for the next piece of correspondence - I know i won't see n ething today or tomorrow but i m checking the websites like a mad woman!!

Ok another question ....I m much more detail oriented and effecient when it comes to paperwork than my fiance is... I emailed the American Embassy in Syria and the wonderful woman on the other end told me everything he would need for Packet 3 - my question is - is there a way around not being able to save the filled out pdf's. When i filled out the 129f and G325 I was warned i could only print not save.....

So i just got my NOA2 today - also found this forum today - and cried for the first time while on VJ today - i don't even care that i'm #124 on this amazing list. Its just good to have something to track - i had never been so desperate to be touched or poked or whatever!! :P

I thought I could make you all laugh for a moment...

I called NVC to see if the package was sent to Syria yet - made the call on the 18th, I had rcv'd the letter from NVC and been told by my Congressman's office that it would be sent out that week - so I get this real ditzy woman on the phone who tells me that it was sent electronically that day but hadn't been sent physically yet and that the embassy wouldn't schedule the appointment until they had it in hand physically.

Nicole: So how long will it take for them to get the papers in Syria?

Dumb A$$ NVC Rep: Oh About 8-10 WEEKS!

Nicole: Excuse me??

DA NVC Rep: Yes 8-10 Weeks

Nicole: Ummm Why so long?

DA NVC Rep: Well it has to get through customs....

I couldn't say anything other than thanks for your help and i hung up!

Meanwhile the papers I sent ( and I am not a gov't agency) on Monday got to him on Sunday easily making it through customs!

#######! All i can do is laugh!! whistling.gif

Wonderful news! biggrin.gif Congratulations! Did you find out online or hard copy of NOA2?

Actually neither - I was getting so down when i remembered that when I called my Congressman's office a few months ago they told me if I hadn't heard anything by the beginnign of the year to call back. So i did yesterday and he got back to me today and said he'd put in an inquiry which he forwardeed me a copy of. that was around noon and by 5 he was calling back telling me they told him i was approvedon the 8th.

Sorry for the spelling errors.

I want to thank everyone soooo much for their support - i know i didn't post much but i was definately here all day every dya!!

Thank you Thank you Thank you!!

Question:

I think I remember reading somewhere on here a few months ago that the beneficiary should have a copy of the original packet that was sent to USCIS - does anyone know if he needs this to take with him to the interview?

Thanks!!

Congrats to all the Approved!!

ooooo I'm with you on that. It's usually...I wish we'd done this 2 months earlier!!!!

Tell me about it - we would have if Jeremy had researched more thoroughly and I hadn't gotten so confused by it all in the beginning... He thought that the K-1 process only took 3 months... He didn't realise we had to send of the I129-F first... wink.gif

Ok well mine slipped all the way from Sept. 27th to Jan. 1st today! Holy Moly! helpsmilie.gif

But someone in another forumn told me that it could be processed anytime sooner because it's just a projected date.

Are they factoring in Holiday seasons breaks and stuff like this now?

Ouch - that's nasty... Mine is on Dec 22nd now :/ Although you are right - it is just a projected date based on VJ timelines so the date is only as accurate as the timelines that are filled in smile.gif At one point I had a projected date of the beginning of September... that was in the middle of last month - it kinda went screwy which was funny biggrin.gif

Right now my projected approval date is Dec 23 mellow.gif ........whatever, I won't look anymore, I have enough stress as it is with school, it's too depressing, and I can't afford to be this way. At least I'll see him in Nov. and again in Dec........and most probably in March (spring break) all I can say is Thank GOD for student loans....
whatever I have to go to bed and dream of structures dry.gif .........good luck everyone.....

Student loans were a godsend - as well as the long holidays!!! Now I'm in work it's slightly different but at least there is a (rather distant) light at the end of the tunnel!!

Confused... most of you have noa1 dates earlier than mine - some much earlier - yet my projected is dec 9 and rising - what's factored into the equation for that date?

Ok-- completely off topic, but i have to ask this! I was just talking to this girl -she's american. Her English boyfriend came to the US to spend the summer with her, and they got married. No special situation- he didn't have a job, isn't related to anyone in the US, etc. He's now living with her here in the US, but can't work. He's hired a lawyer and they think they'll get his green card in 4 to 5 months. #######?! How does that work?? Anyone know what i'm missing here? I thought if you got married, you still had to be separated while you filed for your K3 visa.... I'm so lost. blink.gif

yea same thing is happening with my ladlady and her husband. But their case is "worse" b/c he was here illegaly and got married to her (the US citizen) in june on the beaches of St. Petersburg Fl (beautiful pics) and the other day he informed me that he already got the interview for the AOS.......and they don't have any lawyers..........I wish I would've known that earlier, I would've done the same thing with Ricardo, oh well just goes to show you how "strict" USCIS is

PS: no, they're not cuban, they're colombian, so in this case the country he was from didn't matter.....

I'm still confused. I didn't think this was an option for us, because i thought that once you were married, you had to file for the K-3 visa, and still couldn't live together at that point. I'm really lost. Why wouldn't everyone just go to their fiance's country, get married, and then adjust status?

OK 2 things spring to my mind....

1. #######!?!?
2. lucky, jammy, cheating so and so's. If I'd known that I could possibly sneak in the side entrance and still end up legal in the end I would never have come back after my stay in the summer!!!!

seriously if anyone can give an possible legal ways they have done this.....if they found a LEGAL loophole we missed, well congrats to them. If they skirting round the long, legal, expensive way we doing it and not going to have to pay any penalty despite doing things illegaly...well I'm seriously P*ed off!

First - it sounds like they got married here - which is why everyone couldn't just go to their fiance's country, get married and then adjust because the thats what the K1 and K3 are for - Second if they did file for their adjustment - with no intent of being married - maybe thats the loophole -they came over on some other visa and during their stay decided to get married - assuming that really was the case and their is no process fraud on their part...welp thats my semi knowledgable opinion.

finances do matter!!!
when i visit my fiancé in the USA i pay for the plane ticket of course, then i need money too and while i'm there i don't earn money
on the other hand i have loans and bills
so how can anyone say finances dont matter?

if i was a millionaire i'd be there much more obviously
i'm certainly not chosing to be apart!
it's so hard

and there's another thing...
i've read too many bad stories about ppl being stuck at the customs because they were suspected they would stay illegaly or things like that during the VISA petition...

anyway

has any july filer received a NOA2 yet?

I agree that finances definately matter -i have a hard enough time budgeting in phone cards and saving for the little things for wedding and school when he gets here and things like that - visiting is not an option for me - unless my parents want to treat me to a trip to see him!! smile.gif

This is for Nicole_Michel2007:

If your friends had their fiance's in their arms within 3-5 months using the K1 Process, try asking them how they did it? If they are your friends I'm sure they'll be able to offer you some advice. If you do it that way then maybe you'll get ur February wedding wink.gif

Good luck......

The only thing people here are trying to do is set realistic expectations based on the current conditions at USCIS. Last year it was realistic to get through VSC very quickly and have a Visa in 3 to 5 months. Right now it isn't. USCIS has acknowledged on their website that they have a huge back log. I'm not happy about that, but it is the REALITY of life that we are ALL faced with. Sorry if you don't like it Nicole_Michel2007, but I've got news for you. NONE of us waiting right now like it! As my Dad always tells me, "There's the way you want it to be, then there's the way that it is." If you err on the side of caution, you are much more likely to end up a satisfied USCIS customer. And if you don't like our answers, do what you like but don't come crying to this forum if it all backfires.

I appreciate everyone's opinions - I was feeling very hopeful and although everything on here screamed there will be delays i was still just floating in the clouds wanting to plan and have him here - i think i needed to hear all of your opinions to become a bit more grounded on the issue!

I know none of you know me but i am not the type of person who whines and cries and blames others - i take responsibility for my actions and decisions. So the one thing you won't ever hear from me is the crying and whining if things backfire. It would have been my own fault.

Again I appreciate everyone's opinions and comments. Thank you and I appologize if i upset anyone. I'll be sure to check back in and let everyone know when I do receive my approval and whether or not the terrorists from Syria are allowed out in a timely fashion!! lol

Thanks again!

I found a K1 timeline for Syria. it was 180 days. they filed in Nov 2005 and got interview and approved July 2006. and back then things were faster than now. you filed right at the deadline for the new fees.

here's the syria K1 timeline

chris

While i love this website and it has been extremely helpful to me it only shows a small percentage of what is going on in the K1 world. I know of 3 couples all of whom I have spoken to - 2 from my area and one from NJ who went took the K1 route within the last year all from SYRIA - who had their fiances in their arms in 3-5 months. One even with an RFE.... if you notice there are only 4 or 5 couples from syria not exactly a grand census to gather statistics from .

But again I appreciate your opinion and appologize sincerely if i have upset anyone.

While I appreciate your opinion - because thats just what i asked for an opinion ...

nothing personal, but there are so many threads on this. everyone always recommends NOT to book anything until you have visa in hand. but people do it anyway and then come on here and cry when they have no approval and their bookings are ruined etc or contemplate visa fraud by going ahead with it and still using the k1 visa. I wish people would just get married first and have the exact wedding they want at the exact place and time if it is the most important thing to them. THEN do the visa. ...this place is used as a support group, a venting tool, a dreaming tool, something to pass the time while we all endure hardship thru this "process" if you don't like what people are saying - don't read the posts, hell don't reply"

going the K1 route is the fastest immigration but there are consequences to it. you get the approval when you get it period. and then you have 90 days to get married period. alot of K1 marriages are civil and small affairs. Doing a K1 visa means the process is most important and all other plans come second. Doing K3 means the wedding is more important and the process is second.

Its either the visa process comes first and then you make your plans or the PLANS come first and you do the visa second.

... I must say that your theory there - and again merely my opinion - is ####### - and again just my opinion - that is how you may feel about "the process". But to me it is more than just a process, it is about being with the man i love, it is about having a wedding surrounded by my family and friends. I very well could have gotten married there - and brought him back with me immediately - you see there are connections and we would have been home together in 3 months - but we decided for my family's sake and mine- we'd give his family an engagement in the church and my family in the US the wedding. So we took the K1 route. Getting engaged in the church, by a priest and a congregation of witnesses, with a bridesmaid and best man to witness, with a blessing of rings and mind you we both are wearing wedding bands - is sacred, I cannot just give him the ring back and say its over - its deeper than that. So you see its not a "process" to me. It's a lifetime.

you seem bound and determined to book your february wedding since this is the second time you have posted on it, and were advised before the process can take longer than you want. good luck to you since you seem gun ho to do it. it will be interesting in february to see how your situation is. Particularily since your fiancee is from Syria, which will have extra scrutiny and background checks due to the politics in the middle east right now. ...I wouldn't mind knowing just what you know about Syria or the middle east to know what is going on there - or what makes you such an expert as to how long it will take or the "extra scrutiny" my fiancee will endure... I have been in touch with the Embassy many times in Syria and quite honestly - i don't need to play any type of "RFE trick" to get an answer - they've been much more helpful than the US has been with anyone of us"

Forgive me for being hopeful.

I appologize to all readers/posters/members if I seem "gun ho" on February - I want to start my life with my significant other - as I'm sure all of you do as well. And I'm sure all of you have bad days and good days - consider this a bad day on this journey. I'm sure many can relate.

Opinion post....

Do you think it would be crazy of me to book February 23,2008 for our wedding day?? Approvals seems to be taking right around 90-120 days - and on the forms that go to the embassy in the SO's country it says have you made travel arrangements, set wedding dates etc. Also, the lady i am in contact with at the Embassy in Syria told me to let her know as soon as i've gotten approval and she'll keep an eye out for his file. Should I trust all of this?

My mom and I went to look at a few places today and they all say hurry and book before there is nothing left. I am afraid that if i don't book we'll get approved and i'll be having my wedding at some VFW (no offense to those who are going that route, its just not our style). But i'm afraid if i do book it'll be february before we even get our NOA2.

Also - i guess this question is for Zee - your the only one who is semi local i've noticed - Have you begun looking around for reception sites - just wondered what the per head cost has been for you if you have. We saw two places today both seemed to be comparable in price - not in atmosphere tho - around 70-75 dollars per head - including open bar and one of them even a chocolate fondue fountain with every fruit imaginable, drink fountain, and cake from a well known well respected baker in the area.

I think i'm going to take a break and send some pics to print - Snapfish has a sale today and tomrorow yet on digital picture developing for just 9 cents a pic - enter the coupon code Cloud9 when ordering!!

Have a great nite everyone! If we can't look forward to approvals - we can certainly look forward to the weekend!

Just want to let you know that I am a July Filer - July 28th actually - and I received my NOA1 today in the mail.

I saw in a different post there were nearly 80 approved petitions in August last year - lets keep our heads up - I am looking at a February wedding and have already purchased my dressed - appointed my bridal party - bought the girls dresses - talked to churches - halls - florists- etc.... It's all too exciting!!

Keep your heads up!!! I'm glad to have you all around for support!

good luck, i hope you get febuary. i dont know how fast syria is right now but we're hoping to have our interview in feb or march and possibly april. I wouldnt pick a date until you have your visa. this is the most common mistake we see posted on here. everything is booked for a wedding dependant on a visa date that doesnt exist and could take longer. then the people have the choice of canceling and losing money or marrying and commiting visa fruad if they still use the K1, or canceling the K1 and going the k3 and losing all the time they waited for k1.

there are more "panicked" topics on here for booked weddings and no visa than any other topic. and the answer is always the same. never book the wedding without visa in hand. Do a search on here, you'll find lots of topics on this. If syria is fast and you can have a Jan interview good for you and congrats. but i would wait until i had the visa to book the flight to usa much less book a wedding.

you filed after we did. what does your timelime say? Noa2 in Nov? it will be december before syria gets it. you already posted on the timeline for your visa and were warned that coming from the middle east, extra background checks and extra processing is common, which can add months and sometimes years to the processing time. The Syrian embassy says it take 4 to 6 weeks but i dont believe that to be the average. i found one timeline with a fellow VJer who was usa and syria. it was 6 months total from Noa1 to visa. and they got NOA2 in 3 months. i think we are looking at NOA2 in 4 months with the fee increases in july.

Id hate to see you on here on Feb first with your wedding all ready to go and no sign of anything from the syria.

good luck, and congrats on your upcoming wedding.

Chris

Hey there - thanks for the info and concern.

We havent actually booked anything - just looking around so that we are prepared to book when the time comes. My dress - bridesmaids dresses etc are not going to change whether its in feb or july so just getting prliminary things accomplished.

I have already been in touch with the American Embassy in Syria - they have let me know what i need and assured that the process on their end should take no longer than 2 months - also told me to email back to them when i do get the approval so they can keep an eye out for his papers when they come in. I cannot help but be optimistic.

I am a VERY djetailed oriented and organized person - I have dotted all of my I's and crossed all of my t's - Twice! Right now we're shooting for Feb - if it doesn't happen we'll shoot for every month after until the time comes. Although I have not heard about anything taking longer bc of it coming from a Middle Eastern country - not sure where that came from.

Anyways - everyone has their own way of passing time and being hopeful. Mine is working 3 jobs and planning an amazing wedding!!

Good luck to you!

I too was a July filer - I thought sending a money order would be "safer" than a personal check - but now that I see that I could have gotten a case number off the back of my cashed check I am bummed - I sent out the I-129F on July 28 and it was received at VSC on July 31!! Yay!!!

Also a quick question - does anyone know the number to call to check on the case number?? I notice some of you have called - I havent been able to track down the appropriate number!

Let me know and good luck to all!!

Thanks for everyone's help -

Zee - I saw that one too - after i finally figured out how to track it - That mite be it but i am not sure because when the Congressman's Rep called on friday the 11th NVC told him it would be sent sometime next week (meaning this week) and that package's sent date was the 10th... but I sent out the affidavit of support today to Micho along with copies of all the paperwork i sent originally to VSC and a copy of the approval for when he's ready to go to the Embassy.

My contact at the embassy told me they dont have anything called packets 3 and 4 - when he goes to the embassy the first time he needs to have forms DS- 156 and 157, 2 passport photos, and copies of his passport. If all goes well they'll schedule his interview and medical and give him the additional forms he needs for the interview and thats all.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed real tight bc everything is planned for April 26 and i m hoping he'll be here atleast a month before that.

Thats true - i didn't really think of it that way! I've been looking in the forum but i can't seem to find it - is DOS the # that u can call till midnite?
That's good that he can just go and drop off the stuff at the embassy good.gif It will probably make things go a lot faster smile.gif

There have been so many approvals from late July that I began wondering if May, June and early July had really been skipped over. So of course I had to do some research. tongue.gif

CODE
Period Sent        NOA1's   Approved    Open   % Complete
    Jan             28         28         0       100
    Feb             41         41         0       100
    Mar             50         49         1        98
    Apr             46         42         4        91
    May             64         51        13        80
1st 1/2 June        46         29        17        63
2nd 1/2 June        23         18         5        78
1st 1/2 July        28         21         7        75
2nd 1/2 July        80         24        56        30

The lack of late June and early July approvals reported recently makes sense because it looks like those periods are 3/4 finished. The question still remains as to why May and the 1st half of June is lagging behind. It could be petitions from May have more than the normal number of RFE's and complicated name checks. The first half of June could have the same problems but it seems strange that only 63% of petitions have been completed when the second half is 78% finished.

The other thing I see is that despite the many approvals, there is still a long way to go before the second half of July is complete.

I'm sorry to be a pest but do you think you could split this to show whats left at each of the service centers? Thanks again for all of your hard work on these reports!

Middle East and North AfricaProof of Education

Hi,
you can try WES
http://www.wes.org/

WES - WORLD EDUCATION SERVICES - is the place to go - they will evaluate the degree and convert to something comparable in the US - i know someone who was a lawyer in Egypt and came to the US - went to WES and he was just a few classes short and then just needed to take the BAR -

Then I also have a friend who had a Bachelors in Accounting and went to US - they gave him a Bachelors in Economics.

They are helpful.

Good luck!

Middle East and North AfricaLong distance relationship jealousy

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this type of jealousy from their significant other, created perhaps out of the frustration from being separated during the visa process? Not talking crazy stalker jealousy, just little things.

I have to say i've had two types of experiences with the jealousy thing... before our engagement he used to tell me as long as you are with George and Feras (his cousins) I don't worry about you - but anyone else is a problem. I don't know them. (Meaning guys) Which was ok with me cuz i had no interest in anyone else or hanging out with anyone other than George(he is like my big brother) since Micho wasn't around...

Now after we got engaged and I got back to the US its been a different story - I know it shouldnt be like this but I am the jealous one.. my uncle is there right now - and they keep going to parties (hafli's) together and whenever i call he's always preoccupied talkin to the other people around him.... i m getting irritated!! I am so jealous- mainly bc i am missing him so much and our time together was so limited. I cannot wait for him to be here. (L)

Now while i was there as far as jealousy from other people is concerned.....I understand the language and so when girls would make a comment about us - he'd just lite their fire by holding me closer or kissing me... When people saw us together in the marketplace we got dirty looks but it was more like...look at them holding hands.... look at the skirt she's wearing... OMG she's smoking a cigarette....OMG look how close she is to him.... it was more the Islamic culture picking out the frisky American!! haha :jest:

The kid problem comes up here time and time again. Honestly I can't understand how people commit to marriage and file for a visa if they haven't decided or been able to agree on so many things. For us it was very important to talk about everything and make sure we weren't going to have any bumps in the road about children. We both want kids and both want to wait several years and are both very happy that we talked about those things and agreed before he got here. It's hard for me to imagine a man from MENA who doesn't want children since family is so important in those countries. When a man says they don't want kids (which is usually when the women already has some and is too old to have more) I think that is a big red flag.

Yeah I know. Everything was settled before marriage. Then I joined VJ after reading this 56 page thread in response to this ladies gut wrenching long post about MENA men and their attitudes and how he done her wrong after them being together for five years and he marries a local. I confronted my Husband on some of the issues and maybe didn't manage it well. It was our first real fight and realization we may not stay together. He told me to call off the visas and if I wanted a divorce he'd proceed. Even a month or so after that he's not sure about kids. I don't blame him because even I'm not. It brings a whole other wealth of issues. We're over coming the argument though. It takes time.

This thread is quite interesting - although i used to say that Micho and I have talked about everything I knwo there will definately be adjustments for both of us - I have lived alone and independently for 6 years - i was 18 when i left my parents house - he appreciates that i am independent and looks forward to learning from me. But there will definately pebbles in our journey...

I have come to realize that this thread seems to lean towards and excuse me if i am not beign politically correct - but it seems to lean towards relationships where one part is of muslim religion. Both Micho and I are Christians - as are many arabs and the branding thats being put on Arab Men seem to be characteristics of Muslim men - and for the most part is stereotypical. Just because you have experience with 1 arab man doesn't mean you know them all. Mine for example doesn't mind shorts and sleeveless but was very weary about kissing me in front of his 18 yr old cousin bc of respect for me. (no criticism intended on the shorts just trying to use on of the forums examples) But I also have a good friend who's married to an Egyptian man who's pretty much not allowed to leave the house unless its with him. And this is a man who took her to parties and the beach and day trips while they were engaged - she's lucky if he sets aside an hour for grocery shopping. Everyone's different.

Anyways - just thought i'd give my two cents. Have a good nite!
