Thanks - very informative and clear response. Congratulations

I am not clear about K1 vs K3
and what are IR1 and CR1
My query-is below can you pl advise
I am a Canadian Citizen, engaged to a US citizen (a US citizen by birth) .

We wish to get married ASAP to move to US.

I believe we can do that 3 ways:

1/ US citizen fiance can file a K1 Fiancee Visa I- 129 F and I wait out here in Canada till approved.
Maybe 5 months- I believe, is that correct?

My question is: Can I travel to the US while this K1 is being processed?

or 2/I can go to US on a visit- being a Canadian I can visit (is 6 months the staying limit-I am not sure) and then get married there and US citizen spouse files an I- 130. The processing time seems same at 5 months.

or 3/ My US citizen fiance comes to Canada and we get married
What form sare tehn needed to be submitted?

My question_Which option is safe- and can I travel-while case is being processed in each case

What is a better faster and safer option?

Main requirement is that I should be able to travel under these 3 options - between Canada and USA during this approval period
Please advise the best course, thanks very much

I am not clear about difference of K1 and K3 visa

Start by reviewing: http://www.visajourn...amp;page=guides

I would seriously consider pursuing the I-130 CR1 is they are approved at the same time. Only 3 or 4 weeks longer.
But, alot less headache after immigrating to the USA. (SSN Sent, Can work and Muli

Took us 134 days from I-130 submission till interview date. Ours was through CSC and really fast.

Get NSO Birt Cert, MSO Marriage Cert, NBI Clearance and any police clearance if you lived somewhere for more then
6 months.

Once, you get NSO#2,,, If pursueing the CR1. Download sign and mail to USC.... The DS3032 and DS230 (Part one Signed) with
all of the original Docs. If pursuing K3,, wait for packet from Embassy and proceed accordingly (Still need the NSO Stuff).

Good Luck,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsTime to get an interview
Hello,

First of all I must say that this website is awesome. I love the fact that people share their experiences so we can all get more educated on the process.

Regarding my question...I am wondering if anyone can shed some light on how much time it took them to get their interview after filing the I-129F application. I have a friend who recently got the NOA2 after 5 months of waiting and now the letter she received indicates another 4-6 months to get an inteview...that seems a little longer....can someone provide some time line.

Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA2 on Friday!!
Congrats Ravi and Beth- all the best
the processing was really fast.

One question- you mention visiting US between NOA1 and NOA2 -
Was that a problem- (as I am in a similar situation)
-
Like what do you say- can you say to the Immigration auth that the K1 was in process and you were visiting your fiancee-
Is that acceptable? ie Okay to respond that way?

Any one else reading this also- pl respond
Thanks
congrats again !

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A form
Hello,

I need some help with the G-325A form. The File Number, US Social Security, Alien Registration Number fields when you put "NONE" default to 0's. Should I leave the field blank or can I hand-write "none" in that field. Also, the Date of Birth field for parents shows a "+" and does not show the year. Should I leave it blank and hand write it.

Is anyone having similar problems with the form?

Thanks!

Do I need to write names of the individual, date and location on the back of the picture as supporting proof for the K-1 Visa? If so, should i write directly on the photo or should i write on a post-it note.

Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSocial Security No- does it expire?
Hi:
My daughter attended High School in the US whilst on an F2 Visa (as a Dependant of my F1 Visa) during 1994-1997

She had been given a Social Security No, and the card was marked as Not valid for employment

She is now a Canadain citizen and her fiance is applying for her K 1 Visa

As she fills in her G 325 now -does she enter that old Social Security No or leave it as None whch will show as 000 00 0000

thanks

Hi
I read somewhere in the K1 Visa guides that the photos of meetings should be dated
Not knowing how to imprint dates on the photos and also writing at back of photo may spoil them
my question is:
Is it okay to put details reg date , location and who all are in photo on a post it note and stick it on reverse of photo
Thanks
Ashok

Having the dates printed on the photos when they are developed is not more solid than hand-writing them on the back. We wrote dates and descriptions on the back of each photo and this turned out fine. I guess you could use post-it-notes, but what if they fall off? I'd recommend writing on the reverse side with pen (as we did) or pencil if you are really worried about damaging them.

---------------------------------
thanks
After my this post- I learnt that one could print and I tried printing with dates from Kodak kiosk at Walmart- it works!
One can print the dates whereever you wish to the photo- just go to More edits and then insert text- then change options on the directions on screen to move the text printed

Quite easy- but time consuming
you can change the size also

Ashok

CanadaA little Confused
I was just wondering what our next steps are, We got a notice of "Approved Petition" do I now just wait to hear from the US Embassy Montreal, Canada before anything else needs to be done or is there something I should be doing?
and how long does it take before I will hear from them?
We got the letter about the petition approved over 2 weeks ago...

CanadaNVC Sent to Montreal

You can call the Dept of State to see if the consulate has received it. For us it took about a month for Montreal to get it (it was recent, check my sig for my timeline). Don't wait for them to mail Packet 3, everything you need is online. Once the Dept of State says they have received your petition and mailed Packet 3 you can send it back. If you need help getting the number for the DOS I can try to find it if someone else doesn't post it first. Packet 3 for Montreal can be found here: http://photos.state....et3-k1-mtl.pdf. There are many documents that you may need and they take some time (especially if you need to renew the benficiary's passport). I'd get started on those right away. I can share links and tips for the passport renewal, police certificate (we did RCMP one), and birth certificate if you need them, just ask!

seems there is a problem with the DS-156, filled it all out and hit the continue button for it to print and got this error
"Corrupted Content Error
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because an error in the data transmission was detected.
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because an error in the data transmission was detected. Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem."

I take it this is the only place to get this form.

CanadaNVC Sent to Montreal
I was wondering how long after the NVC has sent my case to Montreal, how long does it take to get my package?
They gave me a new case # and said it was sent to Montreal on May 14th but I still haven't heard anything.
Is there some where I can call to find out the status?

CanadaHow long does this take

I responded on your other post. Either you didn't read it or you read it and did not do what was told to do. http://www.visajourn...45#entry5370845

I gave the full list of actions you needed to do and had you followed it you would have likely already had an interview date by now.

I told you that you would be waiting for no reason from Montreal because they are NOT reliable with P3 at all and that you have to be proactive and do all this part yourself.

http://www.visajourn...e-for-montreal/
DOS is department of state and you can find their number for visa services on their website in the contacts section. Call them and find out if Montreal has the packet and if they have mailed out P3 yet. Then go and download the P3 from the US embassy website and get to work quickly doing the forms and getting the evidence and send it to them.

I got all the forms you said to get and have filled them out, I'm sorry I didn't know I could go ahead and send them in without getting the p3 first. I just called the DOS and they said that Montreal has received my case but it has not been processed yet. So your saying just to send it to them anyway and not to wait, I just don't want to mess anything up..... I do appreciate your help, I truly do, thank you!!

CanadaHow long does this take

What are you waiting on, exactly? (hard to say, since you don't have a timeline filled out).

If you're waiting to receive the P3 letter, many people never get it. Mine arrived a few weeks *after* the P4 letter did.
Check out the pinned topic that is the guide for K1s in Montreal. Use the information there to call DOS and find out if P3 has been sent. If it has, whether you've received it or not, you are ready to move forward.

If you've called DOS already but you're still waiting, be patient a little longer. Mine took 20 days -- I think 3 weeks to a month is about average lately, so it should be soon.

Hope that helps.

I'm sorry but what is DOS? you all use short forms and I don't know what it stands for, and where do I find the number to contact the "DOS"
I sent a e-mail to Montreal and got a standard e-mail back not telling me anything.

We got the Notice of Action and it as approved
I did call the NVC and they said it was sent on to Montreal on May 14th 2012 and gave me a new case number
that is where I am at, I understood I would be getting a P3 from Montreal with in a few weeks
it has been 3 weeks and I've heard/got nothing as of yet.

Still waiting to hear from Montreal, feels like I've been waiting forever, didn't think it would take this long to hear from them.
Got the forms I could and filled them out and ready to send. Wish I would hear from them already, didn't think it would take this long :(

Divorce decrees, records of previous crimes, if applicable and as included in petition package but this go around they want the originals.

Okay thank you very much, I don't have any of them so I don't have to worry about that then.

On the check list for the items that you have to take with you too the interview, it asks for Court Documents, what do they mean by that, what kind of court documents?
