There will be a questionnaire the beneficiary has to fill out prior to the actual exam.

If memory serves me, there is a question about previous 'self harm' on that questionnaire.

Perhaps someone who has completed this questionnaire more recently can confirm this or else correct me if I am wrong.

He has received the questionnaire, which prompted the worry.

I know in my State, attempted suicde earns you jail time.

Thanks for the encouragement. :o

Just so you know, I was well aware that attempted suicide was illegal in some states. My comment was intended to be taken as cheeky. ;)

For you information, and the un-informed....Massachusetts is where that law is active. Find out first before you make assumptions. This is where people look dumb.

For whom was this message intended?

This is my first post on VJ and has to do with our first real concern since we started the immigration process.

My fiancee has had Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder for most of his life. On one occasion nearly 20 years ago (1988) he attempted suicide and was hospitalized.

Since then, he has been consistently treated for his disorder and has not attempted, nor would he attempt, suicide again.

I don't think that these issues will keep him from coming to the United States as long as he brings to his medical the documentation of his successful release from hospitalization and subsequent treatment by his therapist.

Looking for some reassurance here...

Thanks.
