He already paid the 1500 pesos...so kind a too late. My question now is..does the form he got from the bank that has serial # is correct or should he still use the form that came in the packet?

Is the DS157 form used by the bank the same as in the packet? If yes, then it's okay to just fill it out. And use one DS157 that came in the packet.

You will need:

Staple 1:

1 DS156
1 DS157 w/bank stamp

Staple 2:

1 DS156
1 DS157

Alone - 1 DS156K

Honestly Caileen, I really doubt the 1500peso payment. I hope that won't happen again.

Soulseeker is right. Maybe there's a conspiracy  . Or maybe not, it just happened that they ran out of DS157.

By the way, here in Marikina, one page printing costs 5pesos for black and white and 8pesos for colored.

Caileen, where is your fiancee located? You can pm me if you want. I can help her find an "accredited" BPI and Citibank branches in her location.

Don't worry, things will be fine

Wendy

Hello everyone,
My fiance went to BPI to pay for the application fee $100. The teller told him to go to internet Cafe and download the form...when he went to the cafe...they said the fee is 1,500 pesos to download DS form and the internet cafe is the one going to forward it to the Embassy......Is this sound OK? Is that how its done?

Thanks......

Caillen

NO NO NO. Again, a big NO.

Look for another internet cafe and have the DS forms printed. I suggest "Netopia" or "Cyber Compass". I have a pc at home but when the pc gets crazy for some reason, I normally end up with those cafes. Affordable and safe.

Let your fiance pull out the links herself (Using the file-open; not on the web address space) and that's the time she should tell the owner she wants to print something.

Your fiancee herself will bring the DS forms to the USEmbassy on the day of her interview. NO ONE ELSE WILL FORWARD THE DS FORMS BESIDES HER.

I hope that helps.

Blessings,

Wendy

Well, it's the embassy's turn to wait for me to give them feedback. I'll let them wait for a while ~ it's payback time hehehe

Hehe. Cool

I have been looking at the cases here and see that most of the interviews end up with AR's. This is a bit worriesome for me. Why is this? Is there a thread that details the reasons for AR's so I can do what I can to prevent it?

Possible reasons of AR: (I got this from somewhere)

1. Missing paperwork
2. Paperwork not filled out correctly
3. Age difference
4. Failure of petitioner to meet Poverty Guidelines/Income Requirements
5. Marital Status questions (divorce, or annulment, singleness)- petitioner
6. Marital Status questions (divorce, or annulment, singleness)- visa applicant
7. Suspicions that relationship is not legitimate or substantial
8. Suspicion that petitioner will abuse, abandon, or mistreat applicant
9. Suspicion that applicant is taking advantage of naïve petitioner (gold digger, green card hunter, etc.)
10. Issues regarding applicant's children
11. Questions regarding applicant's identity
12. Paperwork inconsistent (different names, dates of birth, etc.)

In details, these are the most common ground of AR: (Purely my opinion)

1. Late Registration of Birth Certificate (Applicant)
2. Wrong answers to tricky questions
3. Income doesn't meet income requirements
4. Consul not convinced if there's a true love relationship

That's all for now.

Blessings!

Hello, R&W! Congratulations to your visa approval today!

I just would like to ask if you could share to us how your interview went by and the questions they asked? Im on CR1 petition and my interview is set on next week. I wanna come in prepared and less nervous also coz ive been having sleepless nights thinking about it! Thanks so much and congrats again!

Hi mrs.mnez. Thank you  . If you have complete requirements, don't worry you'll be fine. JnLMN's sample questions are good. Those questions are asked a lot. On my preliminary interview, I was asked about previous marriages or divorce and stuffs like that. My husband and I were both "official singles" when we got married so the consul didn't bother to ask more about that.

God bless on your interview.

Any updates from people on AR? We're anxious to hear something from you guys.

Since somebody asked on how my interview went, here it goes: I'll try my best to make it short.

K3, March 20, 7AM appointment.

I was there at 5:50AM.

Exactly 7AM, I got to put my stuffs on the x-ray thingy.

7:30 passed the DS forms and got a number stub.

8:00 preliminary interview with a Filipino at Window 14. Documents given:

Notarized I-134
Marriage Contract
Birth Certificate
NBI Clearance
Wedding pictures

I offered the employment letter, sample pay stubs but he declined. I also offered more pictures but he said my docs are enough.

9:00 interview with the American Consul. And it wen like this:

ME: Hi
CO: Hi, how are you?
ME: Excited and pretty nervous, sir.
CO: Nervous huh. (Smiling)
CO: So who is Robert xxxxxx?
ME: My husband. My petitioner.
CO: So how's he?
ME: He's excited too.. and waiting for me. (The CO smiled big now) (Then he led me to take the oath)
CO: When did you see your husband last?
ME: September 2005
CO: How long have you known each other?
ME: Three years now sir.
CO: When did you meet him first?
ME: We met online March 2003. And we met in person March 2004.
CO: Got married March 2005?
ME: Yes sir. Actually after two years of talking.
CO: I am guessing you two talk a lot!
ME: Yeah. A LOT!!! (With my biggest smile!)
CO: I can tell that with your accent. You already have a nice central accent.
ME: (Looking shy) Well I can guess where you from.
CO: Yeah.. mid-west. The most boring accent. (Smiling)
ME: Better than west or extreme south.
CO: Oh yeah!!! The most hyper and below the ground accent!!! (Now laughing hard)

(NOW GUYS WE SURE DIDN'T INTEND TO OFFEND PEOPLE FROM SOUTH OR WEST HERE OKAY??? My husband grew up in Tennessee.. so he's proud to be a southern guy. And I am proud to be a southern gal too.)

CO: So what does your husband do if he's not working?
ME: He actually loves football.
CO: Really
ME: Well... fantasy football sir.
CO: (Smiled) That's a benign game so it's cool.
CO: What does he do?
ME: He's doing Accounting
CO: You're also an accountant, right?
ME: Yes I am.
CO: Accounting is good. So do your husband owns a house?
ME: Not yet sir. Just an apartment. But we plan to buy a house a year after I get there.
CO: How old are you both now?
ME: My husband is going 31 and I'm going 28.
CO: Okay we have all the information we need to process your visa. Now wait for your number on either window 35 or 36.
ME: Am I good, sir?
CO: Yeah. (Smiling)
ME: Thank you so much.

After almost 30 minutes of waiting, my number flashed on the queue board. The girl gave me a pink slip and advised me to pay Delbros.

I was out of the USEmbassy at exactly 9:45AM.

Now here are some of my thoughts:

1. There's really nothing wrong on exagerrating your preparation. I have more documents to show-off but they didn't bother to look at them. That's my case and we don't know what will be yours. So the bottom line is be ready. Not only doc per se, but also emotionally and mentally. If you can, have time to rehearse the possible questions. Stay on focus and help yourself to relax.

2. Rebelheart is right when she said that the interview is just for formality. There's already a decision beforehand. BUT, the consul can reverse the decision based on the interview itself. Based on how the consul perceives. American Consuls are highly professional and trained. Expect them to do their job and they expect you to be yourself.

Blessings everyone and our prayers are on the next interviewees.

Again, thank you so much for all the people who unselfishly shared their thoughts and opinions. More power!

Thanks Rebel, Soul and JoseandHelen!!! :D

I hope we all get the visa soon.

Hey guys.. have you seen the "green" sticker attached to your papers? With me, I don't think I saw ANY sticker. I asked the consul, "Am I good sir?" and he said smiling.. "yeah". So I din't worry looking for the "sign" .. which is the white/green sticker. Anyway, I hope everything is fine.

scott300hp, I read your new topic post and I guess you can just look on our "timelines" for the infos you need.

Have a wonderful rest of the day everyone!

We were put on AR i think. Told all paper work was great, but need to verify that she is single...that is what the lady said over the fone...she was confused and weird. They made her pay for the delivery fee and kept her passport. They said the process can take as long as 6 weeks for this...but to call in 2 if nothing happens... they said that they will only call if they have a problem, other than that, they will just send the visa in the mail ... so i am confused. I see people in AR fo months...why did she say up to 6 weeks like thats the longest, why did she act like it would be resolved in 2?

I'm sorry you're in AR. But well just think about it.. a lot of people in AR waited for more than 4 months. It's neat that you were told they only need a maximum of 6 weeks in your case. Of course you may still want to ask help from a senator or congressman. That might speed up the process more.

PW, thank you for the nice comment about our wedding album :)

Be blessed JnLMN! Give us one more APPROVAL!

R&W, I'll continue to stay on the AR list until I submit the annulment decree for my first marriage. It might take 2-3 months so I'm waiting for a swift resolution by the court.

We're glad that it would only take 2-3 months. Know that you're in our thoughts.

And for those who are in AR.. keep your heads up guys! You'll get through it

Well i just called the embassy now and they said the copies dont have to be signed at all what a relief. They even told me just the 134 has to be notirized thats it

That actually made sense. I just read the guidelines for electronic filing and a signature isn't really required except for rejected tax transcripts which should be mailed through snail mail.

Thanks for the info JoseandHelen. That's a relief for me too :D

Well we all can smell the happiness here ckoahou :D . Have a safe trip to your new home

I use the program Taxcut so I print out the forms and sign it again with the date I used before. Now that I think about it, maybe there should only be one signed copy in ink and the copies would be copies of the original.

My husband is also using Taxcut. Thanks for the info greg2005. Congratulations again and may you have a wonderful life together.. forever!

One question. I know this may sound a non-sense question but I'll give it a try. Is ALIAS different from a NICK NAME? I do use my nick name a lot.. but not on offical and legal documents of course. My nick name is shown on our wedding invitations, wedding expense receipts, package covers, snail mails, e-mails etc. Comments from anyone?

Even our wedding invitation, package covers, snail mails, e-mails etc show my nick name. Comments from anyone? :)

Is he going to need any papers on the day of the medical besides letter from NVC with his case #?

Hi Caillen, here are the things your fiance need to bring on his medical:

1.) Appointment letter (You can get it from Counter F, ground floor, get a number first from the guard)
2.) Photocopy of appointment letter
3.) Money ($95 in peso value)
4.) 3 2x2 picture (The other two will be collected the second day)
5.) Passport
6.) Black pen
7.) Medical records
8.) Recent x-ray
9.) THE HEART OF HONESTY

No. SLME stopped collecting Visa requirements since March 2005. But they will get your fiance's passport and they are the one who will forward it to the US Embassy.

Wonderful day to everyone!

For the all fiance out there whenever your fiancee got the MMR vaccine from their medical, shouldnt be gettin pregnant after 1-3 months, bcos surely it gonna have worst side effect for the baby. So tight ur belt hehehehe,

That's what Family Planning is all about

I will post again my question. If anybody knows the answer or have any insight.. please let me know:

There's an advise somewhere here or in "ASAWA" that on DS-156K we should write on the 'DO NOT WRITE BELOW THIS LINE' the name of the fiance, date and signature. I am on K3 and I don't have DS-156K. Is the rule also applicable on DS-156?

St. Luke's phone numbers: 521-0020; 521-8647.

Patience is needed when calling St. Luke's. It may take you more than an hour to get someone.

God bless.

I just wna know if when you gonna bring the "required documents" for the packet, is it on the first day "or" 2nd day of medical exams??? since whole day will take for the 1st day, and 2nd day will be ur last meet with the st. lukes for them to pass ur requirements to the embassy before the interview date.

We don't need to bring the requirements to St. Luke's. Just bring money, passport, pen and 3 2x2 pictures. (And for those who have their packets, bring a photocopy of your appointment letter).

This site is a real helping site. I love vj!!!!

Blessings everyone!

In regards with medical as long as with my son, Its about a month from now our interview date, so probably we will have medical schedule end of feb or early march but the thing is dats my menstration schedules and not have idea when exactly. So i need to visit st lukes for medical shud be in 2 weeks time or another.

Same here with me rebelheart. I have a scheduled medical on March 13. But I have a hint that I have a period that time. I plan to call St. Luke's on Monday if I can have a medical earlier than scheduled.

Yes, you and your son will have a medical the same day. I've read somewhere here the experiences and advices for the medical. I may try to look and I'll post the link here for you.

Prepare yourself rebelheart. Prepare all the necessary documents.. all in originals. If you have spare originals to give to the embassy, then that's okay. If you don't, just be sure you have a copy of all the documents.

FYI St. Luke's telephone numbers are: 521-0020 and 521-8647

By the way... does anyone from you out there who experience or trying to have their medical earlier than scheduled? Do you think it's possible?

Blessings to everyone!!!

US Citizenship General DiscussionCitizenship Question
Aside from voting and a chance to get a federal job, your wife will also be a U.S. Passport carrier, which the only passport in the world that doesn't need a visa to enter any country. Now staying in that country is a different story. But to just pack and bring your passport without thinking about getting a visa is wonderful.

You're welcome.

As for the new card. Well I didn't ask for one. But they are giving me one, anyway. I was also confused about this. But she said that's how they do it. And I just need to shred my old one, when the new one comes. I know, kinda not needed. It's maybe $5 out of my tax money ;(.

Thank you, VJ fam.

Yes next is the passport.

Actually the Dallas office has a booth for passport application. They announced it after the ceremony. So there's a ton of people in the line. We wanted to, but my little boy is so tired already. Been up since morning.

After the ceremony, we went straight to SSA (at least our boy had a chance to nap in the car) and filed a status request. The lady accepted it even though the USCIS hasn't updated their file yet. She said she will submit it after 10 days and will call me if there's a problem and I will get a new card two weeks after that. Same number, just a new card.
