Good moring Sub,

I know some of you know that i have been going through custody/visitation battles with my son's father. 3 moths ago I had to stop the battle, let go and let god. It has been difficult time watchign my son go through anxiety, smelling like smoke, and personality changes that were yet to be desired. But at the hight of the battle, my ex had it looking like I was causing my son's problems. So I step back, agreed to traditional visitation arangements. Well once I was out of the battle it allowed him to show his true collors. Have party's at 5pm that go on all night while my son has school the next day. Picking him up from school and leaving town on a night my son has practice, but leaving him wth his roomate.

Yesterday I got my final answer to my paitience and trust in God. The Gaurdian Et LItem is going to request the court stop the overnight visits. This has been a true test to my faith. Everytime I think the madness is going to stop it kept going. So I thank GOD for my lessons through the process and guiding the GAL to making a choise that is in my son best interest.

Trust me when I say this battle is not done. We now will be going to trial, which scares me to death. But this just built my strength for the next battle.

good.gif good.gif good.gif good.gif good.gif
That is my testimony for the day.

Sorry that you went through this, but it is a good testimony. Sometimes we, as individuals, get in the way or interfere with what God has in mind. Congrats

Como estan todas? Uno hope you feel better soon. As for this journey, I hope anyone else who lives in a Community property state will learn from what happened to me and protect themselves. So far I'm ok from the separation 'till now, but that debt that was run up during that one year will be a challenge to remove. I feel I did my family an injustice by bringing this man into our folds, and truly pray for mercy from the IRS and pray a judge will at least make him responsible for his own debts. I'll keep you guys posted.

Been there done that chispas (well still doing it I suppose). I got all the debt from my ex because he went to prison - probably for life - so my credit is screwed for eternity. Don't have any advice for you, sorry. I just ignore the bill collectors and collection agents for the non essentials (ie credit cards) and they eventually go away.

True dat. true dat. I was advised to get a prenup, but I don't think that would have helped solve the issue I have now. I pray for a miracle. I loved this man blindly and had trauma with him. Don't want any more trauma for external agencies. If I can get a postnup now I'd use it. How's your trip going?

Gracias,

I didn't any new credit on my or his credit report and it might just be that he ruined in credit in the one year time period of spending spree. The whole 30+ thousand was created in 2006 and 2007 while we were still living together. I don't know what he did with the money besides buy clothes, but he didn't pay bills or buy me gifts, that's for sure.

Chispas, I've heard my family in Louisiana (a community property state) say that you can run a public notice (a newspaper add) proclaiming that you are no longer responsible for the debts, etc. of a person. I don't know if this is true...might be interesting to ask other people from Cali.

Also, it might be worth looking into forming a company (if they company could legally be yours alone). A sole proprietorship (or partnership) would not work, because spouses have to participate in the paperwork. But I think an LLC would be appropriate. You could set up the company, and bank accounts. Then have the company purchase the home and later once you are free and clear title the house in your name. Definitely, run this by a lawyer. But I think this is the line of thought I would pursue to see if it panned out.

Thanks for the information. I'll definitely look into this and ask legally about the newspaper posting. I sent information to the DA's office and they never answered and of course immigration doesn't respond either so I believe he's built up his confidence to abscond.

States like California assume that the spouse knows everything about the other. If one is a screw up, they assume that both are. Any debt he is considered mine and only if he tells the judge he'll pay for evrything does it split. The car he has I wanted to go get it since its in my name, but until a Judge splits it in property division, then he has a right to it. I never went through this with my first husband as he wasn't a con man or needed meds. However, this recklessness has cost me so much it is not fathomable to me any more. I know there has to be another out there who has been fleeced once by an immigrant and was able to move on and not let their actions drag them down. I'll post in Changes also.

California can be a pain that way, but yes he does have to sign off on the house or the house has to be titled in both names. All he has to do is sign a quit claim deed.

#######... He has $33000 in credit card debt. I pay for the car he left with and he owes taxes for using 99 dependents on his W-2. I feel screwed.

When I first went to Africa I was shown how to wash the fruits with a skin and to pass the bread over a flame before eating it. Not sure where the information is at the moment, but it is intended to reduce the chance of contracting parasites. We were required to soak our mangos and other items in cool boiled water with a little bleach in it. Then scrub it like hell and not bite the skins. Not to say it prevented me from getting sick, but I'm sure I didn't get as sick as I could have gotten. Hope all goes well.

I agree. What sent me running back to the US while in Africa was a mysterious swelling of my whole face and glands. I looked like a bullfrog with a huge lump under my chin. I went to see a "French" doctor who was supposed to be in the top of her field. I had no tests done or anything and was sent home with a list of medicine to buy at the pharmacy. I went from pharmacy to pharmacy looking for the meds as some of the pharmacies didn't have the meds in stock. The worst part was the flight back home with a fever and a swollen face. Do you have one of those walk-in clinics that you can go to?

Did you see a doctor upon your return to the US and if so what was the diagnosis? Just curious sounds like you may have been bitten by something.

Actually I did, and they couldn't find anything. Over there the doctor said I had the mumps. Africans I know here said it was Ju-ju. I was left with looser jowls since then.

Mornin' All. Couldn't sleep last night. Dreampt the SO followed me to a conference and turned into flesh eating slugs. They were all over my hotel room, and my son cleaned them up into a vacuum cleaner bag. Then they grew into a human sized slug and was eating his own extremities so he could slide faster after me. I told my principal and she was holding onto my shirt when I began to run away. She was stopping me from getting a head start on my sprint to freedom. This was one wierd dream and I have no clue what it means.

Lovin'
Here's an article I found today about caterpillars eating up the crops in Liberia. Creepy

Hordes of caterpillars swarm Liberia, Guinea
By JONATHAN PAYE-LAYLEH, Associated Press Writer Jonathan Paye-layleh, Associated Press Writer – 5 mins agoSHANKPALA, Liberia – Liberia's worst caterpillar plague in three decades has spread to neighboring Guinea after swarms of the crop-eating insects devastated more than 45 towns in the West African nation, officials said Friday.

Thousands of farmers have been unable to venture onto their farms. The 1-inch-long (2-3 centimeters) caterpillars were advancing in the tens of millions, devouring food crops and clogging wells and waterways with excrement, the Rome-based Food and Agriculture Organization said.

Agriculture experts from Liberia urged that the pests be attacked with aerial spraying quickly before they destroyed even more areas.

The outbreak, which began in central Liberia, has been blamed on last year's unusually long rainy season. The invasion already has affected two of the leading food-growing provinces in Liberia, which is still recovering from years of civil war.

On Friday, officials said the pests also had invaded Lofa County on Liberia's northern border with Guinea.

The FAO's emergency coordinator in Liberia, Tim Vaessen, confirmed that the caterpillars had entered neighboring Guinea and said the infestation "could be a regional problem" if it is not attacked soon.

Liberian Agriculture Minister Chris Toe said aerial spraying was needed in the central town of Shankpala, 120 miles (200 kilometers) northeast of the capital, Monrovia. The coffee- and cocoa-producing area has been hard-hit by the dark, hairy pests.

Bendu Jabateh, whose mud-plastered hut is located close to an infested coffee farm, said she no longer felt safe leaving her two children outdoors.

"This is becoming a no-go area for us. We cannot go to our farms and we can't have our children play around the town any longer," said Jabateh, cradling her toddler son. "They crawl and come into the house."

Toe said specimens have been sent to Ghana and the United States to confirm suspicions that the pests are army worms.

About 30 pest control workers were already using manual ground sprayers to try to contain the outbreak in central Liberia. But eradication is a problem — the pests dwell on the leaves of giant forest trees that can rise more than 26 feet (8 meters) and aerial spraying risks further contaminating water sources.

In Shankpala, an ill-equipped spraying team has not made any serious impact. Residents instead have lit fires to keep the swarms at bay.

"When we set fire to certain places around the town, the caterpillars will bypass and attack in different locations so we are ... tired of using fire now," said rice farmer Johnson Kolleh. "We need modern methods to fight the spread."

In Pelelei, a creek used for drinking water was polluted by the pests' feces.

Coffee farmer James Kolleh, 22, explained that some spraying had been done in the town "but we were terrified when the chickens that eat the dead pests all died. These caterpillars must be very poisonous."

The last time Liberia experienced such pest invasion was 30 years ago, but officials then were able to prevent its spread.

Liberia was ravaged by alternating civil war and coups between 1989 and 2003. The drawn-out conflict left about 200,000 people dead and displaced half the country's population of 3 million.

The country — created to settle freed American slaves in 1847 — is still struggling to maintain a fragile peace with the help of U.N. peacekeepers.
