Hello , so nice to find an active board, and with such happy stories about the Immigration process. Makes a nice change !

My Fiance ( Keith ) and myself ( Lynda ) are in the process of the K-1 visa, we mailed I-129F Petition off January 30, 2008, and got first notice of receipt on February 14 2008, how nice Valentines day smile.gif !

It really is nice to read stories and timelines for those who have gone through it, are going through, all at different stages. I had one quick question though, we have been getting the required paperwork together first notice he will get from the Embassy in London , as to what documents he needs to gather ,what will I have to supply for him to take with him AOS form I-864 or I-134?

Thanks , Lynda

Nothing is that quick, patience is needed lol. The K1 seems to take between 4-6 months at present depending which service centre you are allocated to.

Lots of couples still meet during the K1 process, but bear in mind that anyone can be refused entry no matter what visa they have. Its always best for the beneficiary to take evidence of ties to the home country, like rent agreement, bank account etc.

Good luck with your petition whistling.gif whistling.gif

I dont think it would make any difference, but you need to be home for the packet 3 which will be sent to you from the embassy in your country.

My fiance and I had an interesting and frustrating experience today with his interview at the US consulate in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. The agent was preoccupied with the fact that I (the woman) am older than him and that I make very good money. He ended up not approving the visa, but requesting that he go to his home state and get a registered certificate that he is not married.

This is not a problem, just wish we would have known earlier because now he has to go back to his home state, get the document, and make another appointment to come back and stand in the horrible lines in Juarez.

Is this something anyone else has had requested? I have used the very helpful visa journey guidelines throughout the process, but don't recall seeing this ever mentioned.

Im sorry to hear this, i havent seen it either in any posts ive read. Good luck next interview.

First of all, great community and why oh why didn't we stumble upon it earlier! We did a major screw up with our petition package. When my future hubby was putting it all together, he followed the list on USCIS official website, didn't read any forums and as a result the package was mailed out last Friday with G-325a for both of us, form I-239F, his citizenship proof and... that it crying.gif Basically, we are missing letter stating that we do plan to get married within 90 days of my arrival and, most important, evidence of our almost year and a half long relationship. Anybody knows what will happen or what can we do to salvage the situation?

Im not an expert at this, but I would imagine that if they require further information from you they will submit a rfe (request for further information). What you could do is have it ready so it can be sent to them straight away.

Dear Sally,

Thanks a lot smile.gif I was thinking along RFE lines, but it will def. slow us down... and this lady here is getting oh so impatient crying.gif

The ring I used wasnt bought but hand crafted at a mrket stall by a freind so dont have a reciept. We didnt have any pics taken or anything like that so basically we have nothing. We have pictures of us together and boarding passes etc. What kind of things have you guys used? Is there a way of explaining this at the interview or am I worrying for nothing??? Thanks in advance.

Hi all!

I think I may just get an ulcer by the end of this process from worrying so much, but what can you do eh? smile.gif

So Bo sent off our package on May 5th by overnight courier and it arrived and was signed for on May 6th. Here is where the worry sets in: We have still not received anything through email about our NOA1 and the check has not been cashed yet. It's 10 days and I see from most people's timelines that they had electronic confirmation between 2-5 days after the paperwork was received.

Is this long of a wait normal? If we don't get it today, then it won't be until next tuesday that they would get to it, making it two full weeks. I haven't seen any timelines so far that have had to wait that long sad.gif

Any ideas? or at least some general words of encouragement LOL smile.gif

Thanks guys

I would give it a little longer, you know it was recieved and signed for thats the main thing. Vermont seem a little slower at the moment, i hope you hear something soon.

Further, is there a way to edit these yahoo chats or emails? When I try to put them in Word or another program, I lose the emoticons blush.gif <~~~these little dealies - and I didn't want them to look "messed" with, you know what I mean?

On the OTHER HAND, while I am sure they don't have the time to read 4 hour chat logs, we say many non-PC things to each other (I call him my slanty eye jungle boy and he calls me "the other white meat") further, we won't even MENTION the sex talk that goes on, plus of course, talking about his interview, plus tons of cussing, etc etc etc etc.......

Same problem with our emails, very very candid. How does everyone else get around this? Certainly I am not the ONLY person talking dirty in my chats and emails to my loved one .... AM I?? devil.gif hihihihi

Thanks for your help!

We didnt send any emails or chat logs with the petition, just copies of airline tickets a few photos, that was it.

Long story short, after applying for the K-1 Visa, we found out that my fiance will get deployed. We just got word of our approval of the k-1 visa and we are waiting for the package to come to us. ( i'm canadian, he's american)
While my fiance ( to be husband) is deployed, I hoped to return back to Korea to teach for a year while he was gone.
After we get married in the US, with our K-1 visa. Do I need to stay in the US for a certain amount of time? When can I leave the US? What are the rules concerning this?

The K1 visa is a once entry visa, if you leave the usa before you recieve your advance parole you will not be allowed to enter again.

I AM NOT AGREE WITH YOU BECAUSE RELIGIOUS MARRIAGE IN MOROCCO ITS NOT SAME AS LEGAL.
IF U GO TO ADUL IT IS LEGAL, BEFORE WHEN U GO TO ADUL IT IS ISLAMIC BUT NOT ANYMORE NOW EVERYTHING IS CHANGED.
IF U BRING 12 SH'HUD AND READ QURAN IN UR HOUSE WITH THE ACCEPTANCE OF YOUR FAMILY ESPECIALLY THE FATHER THEN IT IS ISLAMICLY MARRIED, THEN HE WILL BE UR HUSBAND IN FRONT OF PEOPLE AND GOD BUT NOT LEGAL (LEGAL =JUST TO KEEP UR RIGHTS) DO NOT SHOW TO EMBASSY ANY SIGN U R MARRIED!!!
I WISH THAT HELPED A LITTLE
SALAM

thanks for your reply but i really didn't know about this 12 chahid staff, does it really happen in morocco, do we need adoul or just the 12 chahid????? plz answer back

No adoul needed u will have just to bring imam who will read quran and ur family which we call it "sadaqa" and it means in islam "tahleel" in this case. after "tahleel" ur fiance is halal for u in front of God and people!
Good luck!!

thanks so much for you answer, now i feel more relaxed, may i ask if you've done the same ??? and how much it take here in casablanca to get a k-1 visa, is it tough????

If you decide to do this, dont take any photos to the interview of it, they may interpret it to being a wedding and will deny.

As a K1 visa is a fiance visa, i think you have to arrive in the usa as a fiance and then marry in the states before the 90 days.

If you wish to marry before entry you will need to apply for another type of visa.

If anyone knows otherwise please chip in.

It says that i need originals of EVERY document that is in the package. Does that mean i need my fiance`s paperwork in original too or only mine?!?!?!?

4.3.6)...What should I bring with me to the interview?
A...You need everything from the checklist, of course, but you also need originals of everything that was originally submitted as a copy, even with the I-129F petition (except the US Citizens passport and the original I-797 approval notice). Original birth certificates, divorce or death decrees, and originals of any documents to support the I-134 fall into this category. The Consulate has the right to ask for the original of any document, so best be prepared.

I know each consolate is different, but I took originals of everything on the checklist that applied and photocopies too, they looked at the original but kept the copies.

Hello

I'm brand new to this forum, so forgive me if this is a question that's repeatedly asked, but I'm currently in the process of applying for the K1 fiance visa. Obviously, these things take time, but equally obviously I want to see my girlfriend and the kids as much as I can.

As such, I've booked a week's holiday leaving on Wednesday. Now I know that as soon as I arrive at immigration and have my passport scanned, it'll flash up on the immigration officer's screen that I have a permanent residency application pending. I assuming that once I explain to him/her that I'm only in the states for a week, and that this week long holiday has nothing to do with the K1 application, that there won't be an issue? I will have a return ticket that I can show, plus a week's car rental agreement showing that I intend to return the car to the airport I got it from. It should also be noted that I've received no notification whatsoever from USCIS that I can't do this, so I'm assuming it's fine.

Can anybody recommend any other type of supporting evidence that I should have ready on arrival?

Any help gratefully received

Thanks

Damian

Hi Damian, welcome to vj and good luck with your petition.

Other supporting evidence you can use is a rent agreement or mortgage papers or even a letter from your employer stating when you are due to return to work.

I hope you have a good trip.

Thanks a lot, S&J, much appreciated.

Well, seeing as that question was answered so quickly, perhaps you fine people can help me with another!

My application was received and marked as "pending" on 19th February this year. It is with the California Service Center. Thing is, four months on and I've heard ####### all. Nada. Zippo. Squat. Is this normal, or should I be worried?

California is slower than vermont, if the check has been cashed you may be able to see the reference number on the back of the check, if you can you can track it at the uscis website, every time the date changes that means its been touched, moved. I would think your approval should be forthcoming soon.

I will have a return ticket that I can show, plus a week's car rental agreement showing that I intend to return the car to the airport I got it from. while browsing USCIS site trying to learn as much as possible about k-1 visa i came across this information that i didn't know and i didn't see it here in vj before, they say that there is an accelerated processing for I-129, any one of you can tell me more about this, here is the link, take a look

accelerated processing

This is what they call an expedite, this is for special reasons, such as finacial hardship, deployment etc.

You can apply and see if it is accepted, it may not be if your reasons are not valid.

Hi guys,

It's been a while!

I have been living and working (legally) in Mexico since January 2007. We are going to start the ball rolling again with the visa process. I had, and passed, my medical in London in May 2007. Now I am just waiting for an interview date.

Question :

Once I receive my K1 visa and enter the U.S., plan the wedding etc. etc. am I able to leave and re-enter inorder to contiue doing business here in Mexico?

Thanks

Paul

The K1 is a one entry visa, if you leave the us you will not be able to use it to reenter. Once you have the Aos you can travel freely.

it is base on the SSN thats why it took so long...

Is this true?

Please help so that i can tell this to my friend.

THANKS

I agree with the others, nao1 is notification of reciept, which should be recieved within a month of sending, ask them if the cheque has been cashed if not they will need to refile.

Hello,

Is the vermont center having technical problems? I'm able to log into my account but when I click on my case to see the status, it doesn't open. It's been doing this for a few days now.

Thanks

If you right click on the link where your reciept number is and select open it will give you a detailed view.

Hello all. I am getting all my info together to file my K1 petition next month. I was wondering is there a certain way to prepare the packet. Such as a certain order to put everthing in. Do you put it all in a folder? I thought I read somewhere you can submit in one of those presentation folders that have the clasp's up top (to hole punch across the top of the forms). What about the pictures? How do you organize them? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. helpsmilie.gif

We prepared our K1 exactly following the Guides here, it went through without a rfe, the guides here are definately your friend.

Did you put it in any type of folder or binder?

We didnt but some people do, I dont think it makes any difference as long as the contents are correct.

Hi All

We sent our I-129F off to the California Service Centre on the 14th of November. Steve got the package delivered back to him yesterday. They had collated it all and put it into a nice clip, but have asked us to send them a new I-129F form.

Unfortunately, I had listed my children in Section 5 - I didn't realise that they didn't need to go on the form if they were over 21 years of age or married!

Oh well, nevermind - hopefully this is our first RFE and also the last - it looks like they've accepted the rest of the documentation.

Steve is posting the whole thing off again on Monday, so fingers crossed for us!!

Have a good weekend everyone ...

Moira ~x~

Im sure it will be fine now, at least you know they are working on it, rfes dont usually hold the case up too much.

This topic sucks so bad. It is like if you very lucky guys were doing a little dance front of ALL the other petitioners who are into the average waiting time 4+months. I can't even find a piece in my heart to be happy for people who got approved in 2 weeks. That is just unfair. Sorry but this conversation sucks, be happy to be extremely lucky is a thing, putting your unfair NOA2 front of our faces is just fuc*ing annoying !

These people are answering the question the topic asked, I dont think you need to be so rude, if you dont like the topic dont read it.

Anyone can help me, I appreciated any reply. I need to submit the application before December 28 or else my son and i will be deported back to the Phils. Thanks in advance.

Firstly, if you married within 90 days of entering the usa you will not be deported.

If you look on the guides for aos it will give you all the information you require.

Hi,

Quick background -- met my fiance in school in the Western US. She took a job as a Montessori teacher in Beijing, a resident of Singapore. After a brief break of 11 months or "gap year" of courting in person, I went back to finish my masters degree.

I have two questions:

1. Will I run into any serious problems as a broke student? I have a savings account and a graduate research assistantship bringing in 500-700 bucks a month.

2. Aside from items marked optional, everything listed under the "example forms" is required along with check/money order at initial time of filing, correct?

Thanks for your time and help!

Dave

If you are filing for a K1 I would suggest you follow the K1 guide this will tell you everything you need to include. http://www.visajourn...mp;page=k1guide

Hi Guys

I am trying to sort out what i need to receive with regards the injections before the London Interview.
I have checked the Knightswood link site and the chart but not quite clear on specifics.....
the age group i fall under is 40 years old, can someone that has been through the process confirm to me in laimens terms
or an idiots guide to what i am going to need.
I had thought of going to my local GP and get them done as far as i have read as long as you have these on your medical records within the 6 months
of the interview date you are good to go this also cuts down on costs London style.
I would be very grateful if one of you guys could let me know your experiences

thanks in advance

Here is a link to the vacination chart from the London embassy which i found easy to follow.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureshow hard can it be????

so basically, my fiance in the U.S. files an I-129F. then within 90 days we need to get married in the USA. the problem is, whenever i choose to go back to the USA within the 90 days to get married, if i tell the border that is why i am going into the USA, they are not going to allow me in.
If i lie, i will get in, but once i get married, they will know i lied. i am supposed to go across the border to visit my friends and this just happened to be the weekend we went to the court house to do it? doesnt having filed the I-129F show premeditation to get married, and if so, then i am a liar at the border because of my intent.
and, all this aside, once we do get married, i have no problem going back to canada and continuing to visit every other month or am i allowed to stay and then get a job?

Hi There, you file the I-129f to start the process, once you have the visa which will take on average 6-12 months , you make your permanent move to the usa and then you have 90 days to get married.

Good luck
