Incredible food! You would hardly believe it is airline food! Lufthansa and CSA have excellent food and service also. Air France sucks. And on any of those three it seems as though they keep the "service" coming the entire flight. Other airlines throw a box lunch at you and leave you alone for 11 hours. KLM, Lufthansa and CSA keep coing with the drinks and snacks and if you want more just go back to the galley and ask, they will hand you soda, ice cream, snacks, whatever. Plus CSA has HOT Czech women stews! :P

Did I mention I LOVE PRAGUE!

Gary I also love Prague and can't wait to bring Irina there. She could never get the Shenghen Visa. I've read much of this thread and it was helpful. Once Irina has visa in hand (she just received letter from Embassy in Kiev so final steps are underway now) I'll book the reservations, stay in Kiev a night to catch the early flight out to Frankfurt and then on to JFK, then BTV. I was on a flight coming home from Ukraine once with a British guy with Ukrainian wife and he said the feeling of leaving Ukraine with her, headed for her new life, was profound. Just one man's experience I know but I imagine there must be some pretty strong feelings for the woman when she leaves. I'm preparing for both ends of the emotional spectrum. :)

New member here. Just express mailed I-129f to Lewisville. Confirmed delivery from FedEx. I guess now it begins!
Divorced after 20+ year marriage decided to look for an Eastern European woman having had some experience abroad while serving in the Army. Met Irina, a Doctor (ob/gyn) from Odessa and the rest is history! Working on medical residency possibilities for her here if she can pass step1 and step2 exams.

Nov.14, 2010 - Met online started correspondence
June 23, 2011- First visit to Ukraine stayed 6 days
Sept 09, 2011- Second visit - 13 days
Dec. 28, 2011- Third visit- New Years engaged
Mar. 27, 2012- Express Mailed I-129F to Lewisville
Mar. 30, 2012- Delivery Confirmation from FedEx
Apr. 04, 2012- Fourth visit planned, staying 8 days

I am all ears fellow members. Hoping this goes smoothly. I had a crazy start. At one time the USCIS center in St. Albans Vermont accepted applications. So I went there not knowing. Once informed by a very helpful agent he offered to take a look at my I-129 submission for me! I learned after mailing it to Lewisville it will.come.right back to Vermont to be adjudicated and he had expedience doing k1s. He found an issue which I resolved and sent it in. He said I included overwhelming evidence of an ongoing relationship so I am hopeful this will process without issue.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsApril I129F Filer - 6 months later, approved!
Well it took forever but it happened. On 10/18/2012 the letter was sent to me, now I also have the letters from NVC and Dept. of State which states the packet is being sent to the Embassy in Kiev. YAY!! My Fiancee in Ukraine was losing faith and hope! Now it is restored and she again believes she will actually come to America. That was a rough 6 months!

My I-129 : 4/23 - 10/18 at Vermont Service Center. Obviously with no RFE's or any snags. I wonder if it went quicker than those reported here because I live in Vermont and the background checks were less effort??

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresContacting VSC instead of online updates

Alla taught the IEP and AEP at St Mikes during her Practicum II for her MA-TESOL degree, also from St Mike's. A fellow Purple Knight!

Yes, we live close to you. I was in Milton yesterday as a matter of fact.

Do not call USCIS it does little good and the online updates are often unreliable. You can use it but expect a whole lot of nothing. Our case is still listed as "initial review". I promise you, your file is sitting in a bin waiting in line. It takes about 20 minutes to process it when the time comes. Updates mean the "bin" (box) got moved around.

If you are up in St Albans the VSC is located just off rte 7 on lower Welden (what is left of it there, which is the mail handlng and a couple departments, VAWA and AWA for example) Your petition will be adjudicated at the Essex Jct location just east of "5 corners" on River street in the IBM industrial park.

Gary I just wanted to tell you that the ZAGS paperwork for her divorce all checked out. We ha e what we need already. This form basically states the divorce is official and assigns who will carry what last name(s) moving forward.

We're almost 3 months in since NOA1. No word yet on status but no RFE either!

I hope you're on the water in the islands. It's damn hot.

Gary,

It certainly is a small world, and it's great to hear Alla had immediate success here. So I'm assuming you recommend the IEA and AEP programs?! Any other transitional programs you know of at CCV or elsewhere that are good? Irina is a Doctor in UA, she is an OB/GYN and I have been in contact with a residency coordinator here. If she can pass STEP 1 and STEP 2 exams she will be in great shape, I just don't want the language and terminology tripping her up.

So I'm confused on the best way to check on the status of the visa application. Don't call? And the online status is unreliable? So is there a way to check on it? I'm familiar with all the Immigration locations, 2 in St. Albans, and the facility in Williston. I wasn't aware there was one in Essex too!? I work at IBM!!! On the Williston side of the campus as a chip designer. Any advice you have on best way to check status is very welcome. Thanks in advance.

Re: Milton, I'm not sure Irina is going to like it there! :) I live on the Milton - Westford Road, on the hill (17 acres) across from the horse farms. She calls it..... "the forest". LOL. We'll move if she can't do it but I'm hoping she'll like the spot.

Thanx again for everything Gary, you're a big help. Irina and I are anxious for this to happen, I think I submitted overwhelming evidence from 4 visits to see her, no criminal records, good finances, etc., so I'm hoping this goes as quickly as possible.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresContacting VSC instead of online updates
Hi Gary,

You are a tremendous help to us all! I am new here, seeking a K-1 for my Fiancee from Odessa. I have NOA1, and the application is at the VSC. Crazy that I had to send it to Texas only to have it sent right back to the VSC practically in my backyard.

I read some other posts and I want to clarify. You mentioned not to rely on the online updates webpage? But instead call them? I can see here where some people update their timelines to say their application was "touched". I'm hoping to simply know it is being processed and not sitting in a bin someplace under no action. Will they tell me this on the phone? If they send me no RFE's can I assume it will process faster than the 5 months currently listed for the VSC or is this just how things work? A lot of waiting. I was hoping to have her in the Intensive English Program at St. Mikes this summer but it's doubtful at this point that will line up.

Any other advice you can give will be welcomed. Looks like you like close to me, I congratulate you on bringing Alla to Vermont, I'm sure she loves it here. I'm hoping Irina will as well.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGeneral K1 Guides and Info
I have a general process question. What is the chronology of the investigation for the K1/I-129F? While it's in the USA, at the respective Service Center (Vermont for ours), do they perform all the checks on the stateside sponsor? And then once it's abroad do the background checks on the Fiancee? What about the Affidavit of Support proof? When is that checked? Like your accounts, assets, and such? While it's stateside or once it's abroad? I included in my initial I-129F submission a I-134 and supporting documentation and I wonder if it was looked at or not.

Thanks in advance if anyone knows the answer to this.
