Caribbean	Interview date and it's Bulls**T!!!	Sup Neo, My wife's friend knows a agency that drives to the capital for this purpose so it's cool, thanks anyway. Had I known they would've done this so fast i would've waited to send everything in. I had called the NVC up last week to inquire about my appointment date, and the women told me they try to give at least a month so people can prepare. Hell, that would've been to close but at least it was more time, but 3 weeks??? We'll see what happens after i call tomorrow. If i can get a May interview, then fine, if not then I'll have to go down on the 29th, because april 2 is on a friggin monday!!! and i wanted to go 2 days before interview(not counting weekends). Caribbean	Interview date and it's Bulls**T!!!	I have to purchase plane tickets(more expensive now that's it's so close), make the hotel reservations. My wife needs to do her medical and my step-daughter, then travel back in 2 days to get the TB results. I have to put in for vacation i need to take in 2 weeks with no notice to my job and they won't like that it's such short notice and might deny me. I know I sound ungrateful since people are waiting forever just to get their NOA2 and such, but 3 weeks notice for interview is #######! Matt I completely agree with you Matt. I was eager for my NOA2 and i864 etc etc but after hearing this I might take my time. It is hard on the pockets and also not easy to get off of work. They will take this into consideration and most likely reschedule your interview being that you have to work in order to support them. Best of luck to you.. Caribbean	For all upcoming interviews in the embassy in DR	Just wanted to advised all on something i didnt even know until i was denied.....if u are denied u have the right to appeal the same day at window 26 or 27 before ur case is sent back to uscis for them to reconsidered your case to be reopen, but you have to summit a letter stating everything on your interview there is a great lawyer by the name of Marisol Acosta that has an office 2 blocks from the embassy that will prepare a letter for you to take to the general consul. She did it for us the day after our interview and summited it via email and personally at the embassy and i have to say that the consul responded back via email to my lawyer in friday March 9 advising to her that he will review our case before it is sent back to uscis, so now i have hope. it cost me not even 120 dolares and its worth it. So to all upcoming interviews there is hope if u get denied and there are options, so make sure u visit her office before coming back to NY its worth a try....... Caribbean	Sending money to DR	Are there any 'Moneygrams' in DR? If so, I have used Moneygram Online to send to Nicaragua for cheaper fees than Western Union.... Good luck Moneygram can be picked up at any Banco Popular in DR. When you do moneygram for example for $100 its $14. With Western Union online its $8 for every $100. These are both being done online. Also the another thing is Moneygram converts it to pesos at a lower exchange rate. Today I tried to send 80 dollars and is charging me $15 dollars just to send it, when I used to live in MA I payed $6 for the same amount and that was to receive in dollars. I don't think that card is helping me any. thanks for your help When you send your money do you send it online or in person? You will not see any difference in pricing in person. When you do the transfer online or from your phone you will see a substantial savings. I have sent a lot of money to DR through various services and western union is the best. They all limit you at 3k per month and moneygram limits transaction online cap is $899. Western Union never an issue. In the NY area its about $8 per 100. A bank wire is like $50 on average from my US bank and banco popular I think $45 to receive it. So anytime I'm sending over 1k I just wire. Which means you can open an account and have access to it in DR. kind of like banco popular if you lived in NY. I was told Banco Popular in NY was different from the ones in DR.. Caribbean	Sending money to DR	Xoom.com i've been using it since 2008 Get my money in about 1hr Xoom is not as efficient as WU and its not cheap really. If you do direct deposit to bank account it has to be done first thing in the morning or if not it will post next day. They are on pacific time. If you do USD pick up they do it through BHD and that bank kinda sucks. I have had times where my wife has had to go back because they "didn't have that amount in dollars". You basically get what you pay for. WU is more expensive but worth it. If you sign up for a gold card rewards you get a better rate and get rewards.. Caribbean	Sending money to DR	Western Union is ok but I became a gold member and do it online.. Cheaper than in person. I also use paypal. I sent my wife a prepaid mastercard attached to my paypal account. She also has a prepaid Amex as well. If its an amount that im going to pay more than 50-70 dollars to send I just do a wire from my citibank account into our joint USD account at Banco Popular. Let me know if you have any questions. I send money sometimes 2 times a week. Used to use Moneygram until they questioned why I was sending so much money to DR. So I just don't use them. Sign up for that WU gold thing and if you have a blackberry there is an app for Western Union that tells you how much the transaction will cost in person, via phone, online, or right from your blackberry. They probably have this app for other phones as well but I have only used Blackberry. Hope this helps. It give me unlimited domestic and international to over 60 countries including cellphones in DR. I pay like $72 a month with tax included though. They also have whats called extensions meaning I can call from my cell as well. This Dominican Movil seems better though. Gonna check it out. USCIS Service Centers	NOA2 Status at Vermont ... FYI	I just called since I got my 3 service requests and they basically say nothing.. Got transferred to NVC and Officer Maldonado answered.... Real cool.. He confirmed that my case was indeed in Vermont and not in Texas like the other clown told me. He said that unfortunately Vermont has the same staff and has been getting slammed with larger workload. He also said that although the uscis site hasn't been updated and still shows 5months its taking more like 6.5 months. So all good.. He said my docs seem all inorder and I would have gotten an RFE by this point. It's about a 2 hr drive and I don't know if any of her friends would make that kind of sacrifice. Matt Matt.. Look into a taxi about renting him for the day. That way he can drive them as well as wait for them and drive them back. It will be cheaper than staying overnight. I do know taxis do this. A reputable taxi company in stgo is Emi taxi.. Check them out. Best of luck. btw you might have to return to the docs since I believe with children they have to go back 24/48 hrs after exams to check on some reactions to the vacines. Mexico, Latin & South America	one way international ticket	Yeah I get it can def be nervewrecking but think about the amount of people that do it everyday and they survive just fine. I would love to do the POE with him and I will try my best to do so, but if I can't, he knows he will be coming alone. There must be refundable flights that can be booked and just refund it right away.. As far as white out u don't use that. I have done it before you just photo copy it with a piece of paper covering the hold thats all. There must be someone you know either in DR or here that works at a travel agency who can get you a boarding pass or something like you have a return ticket. I used to have to deal with this until I became a Dominican Citizen.. Being US born and having Dominican Parents I was eligible for dual citizenship and don't have to worry about that or pay that dumb $10 fee to enter DR. I called spoke with a very pleasant lady sound like an older person, well the fact and matter was she asked for my info which I give, she was on the phone reading something in her computer took a few min to answer me and gets back on the line and state "I'm sorry to tell you but the American Embassy in Santo Domingo is very busy and it looks like all the slot for January have been all filled, and for the looks of it February as well is getting full, so unfortunately you most likely will NOT get a Feb date".. I don't know how accurate this is but if you guys want to get it a shot, and see if you get told something different.. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting, As she told me "remember Santo Domingo is a very busy Embassy". Honestly this isn't what I was looking forward to but at least its info..
