US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134
@yodrak since you seem to have an answer on everything and for everybody i thought it wouldnt hurt to ask you some stuff i couldnt figure out till now!

so thats the situtaion: my fiance was in the air force untill the end of december, right now hes unemployed and job hunting. hes just looking for the good jobs to earn as much money as possible cause he wants to sponsor me by himself. do you think theres a chance this could work? lets say he gets a job in may or june and earns enough money to meet the requirements (100% of the poverty line??) for the yearly income, and fills out the I-134 in july, do you think they would approve my visa in frankfurt?

if this is not working out we just need to get someone else to sponsor me i guess! does just this person have to fill out the I-134?or both my fiance and the person who is going to sponsor me?

the houshold size depends on the persons claimed on the tax return, right? or how do you get the number of people for a houshold so that you can check the money needed from the poverty line columns! its not the persons living together in one house right?

i really hope you can help me out!
thanks

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDS-157....What is it and do I need one?
im not sure about the required forms from a us embassy in australia, but if this form wasnt included in your packet 3 then i wouldnt worry about it! normally they sent you all the forms they want you to fill out!
but if youre not feeling secure with that, try to ask some australian people if they had to fill out the ds-157.
in the past this form wasnt required in germany but they changed it and i have to fill it out too even though it says that its only for males between 16 and 45! i think its a form with which they want to make sure youre not a terrorist or have special skills you could use to build bombs....

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAffidavit of support/ co-sponsor
i dont think that his kids are dependent on him, they earn their own money! so how can i find out if they are? do you have to have a document stating that they are? or does is just depend on who he claims on his tax returns?

sorry for asking you guys for help but i dont wont to bother my fiance with it cause hes having a hard time at the moment and i dont want to stress him with anything else right now!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAffidavit of support/ co-sponsor
my fiance got out of the air force at the beginning of this year and is unemployed right now, but hes doing job hunting cause i needs to earn some money before he starts to study in the winter semester. so im pretty sure he wont make enough money to sponsor me.
how much money does the co-sponsor have to make to be able to sponsor? does he have to sponsor me AND my fiance, and include himself too?
hope someone can help me out!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDS-156 form
i just got my packet 3 yesterday and they enclosed all the necessary forms. i decided to use the pdf's from vj, filled them outon my computer and then printed them out, so no handwriting! but the ds 156 is not the electronic version.
is it really necessary to fill out the e-form? will i get in trouble if i dont use that one?
oh and do i have to sign this one or not?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDS-156
as far as i understand, they didnt file for a k1 visa cause you have to fill out the ds 156 after getting packet 3 form the us embassy in your homecountry before you are even scheduled for an interview. but apparently he already got an interview appointment next week. so i guess its just for a tourist visa to visit his girlfriend!

why do you even file for a visa? your boyfriend can stay in the states for 90 days under the visa waiver programm without having to file for a visa! if he wants to stay longer he has to file for a specific visa type, lets say to study or work there.
its really hard or even impossible for non us citiziens to obtain a visa for a longer period of time without having a job over there or studies.
unless you file for K3( spouse visa, if youre already married to a usc) or a k1 (fiance visa) visa.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussioni-134 questions
#2 the sponsor needs to count himself, his/her spouse, any dependent that is claimed on the tax returns, your fiancee and any kids shes bringing.

#3 if you have enough money and sponsor her yourself, then it should be 2 persons if you dont have any dependents on your tax returns.
if you dont have enough money get a co-sponsor, both of you need to fill out the affidavit of supprot and provide necessary documents. the co-sponsor counts himself, his/her spouse, any dependent and your fiancee.

@raspect
so how did you deal with them wanting tax return which you didnt have at the time of the interview? were you scheduled for a new interview at a later date or were you able to sent the missing stuff and then get your visa?

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionsupporting documents
hey everybody!

im about to obtain all the necessary documents which pertain to my case! i also need to hand in an evidence of support, better to say, i need to submit a I-134 affidavit of support at my interview!
now the question is which supporting documents are really needed?

do i have to have a letter of the sponsors employer? if so, what else needs to be on that letter except for the hiring date, the position and the salary? does it need to be on company letter head?

do i need the most recent pay stubs? how many should the sponsor send me?

are tax returns really needed? if so how many?

is there anything else i need to have for the affidavit?

hope someone can help me out!

US Embassy and Consulate Discussiontwo questions about DS-230
since you are not married yet just put NONE where they want the name and leave the other stuff blank.
for the trips to the states just mention every trip. in know that there is not really enough space. for that, use an additional sheet and write everything on it, make sure you sign and date it and name the sheet accordingly so they know to what form it belongs.

same counts for the ds156 just write none in there

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCan we start the Medical/Vaccination early?
try to find out about the required vaccinations for mexico, i guys they vary from country to country. maybe ask in your regional forum here in vj.
i recommend to get the vaccinations done early in time since as you said some happen in series so that you have all of them on the day of your medical.
i dont know how early you can have the actual medical examination, but i would wait for the interview date and get it done 1-2 weeks before that.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionneed some reassurance on that
hey everybody!

i having my interview on this thursday in frankfurt germany and im really nervous, especially about the whole affidavit thing.....

my fiance just started his new job at the beginning of july after he was unemployed for half a year (got out of the air force at the beginning of this year and couldnt find a job, he even moved to another state to get a job!). he is making about $32000 a year what is sufficient for a 2 person household. im just wondering if they wont accept his affidavit because he just started working there.....
he got a letter of his employer stating that it is a full-time, non-contract positon (will this be an issue?), when he started and what hes making an hour and how many hours hes working a week. he also sent me his 2 latest pay stubs. and his 2 latest tax returns.
im not sure if all this is sufficient? please help me out and tell me what you think of it!

we also have another affidavit form hi dad, but he forgot to sent it to me mad.gif i told him to fax it to me at least so i will have something in my hands if they think his affidavit wont be sufficient. do yo think its ok to give them faxed stuff first and if they want to see the original sent it directly to the consulate?

im pretty worried about all this, so i appriciate every advise given.....

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 supporting documents, Germany
i just had my interview in frankfurt this thursday and everything went fine, even i thought it wouldnt because of the affidavit!!

this is what i had and it turned out to be enough:

+ I-134 signed and notorized
+ letter of employer on company letter head with starting date, position, hourly payment, amount hours worked and that its full time
+ 2 most recent pay stubs
+ 2 last tax returns (no original, just the e-file)
+ print out of his savings plan

his income is way above the 125% of the poverty line but i was still a little concerned cause my fiance just started to work there at the beginning of july and i didnt have a proof for his life insurance. in the end nothing else was needed and i was good!
Nina+MattFemaleGermany2007-08-24 13:58:00
US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionGerman Medical
you can have youre medical whenever. i suggest to do it a couple days or weeks before your interview, makes things easier and smoother. and they will already have your results the day you go the embassy and therefor your visa will get to you earlier. in fact it doesnt delay the issuance for long if you choose to have your medical on the same day, id say about a week longer.

i know that you do not need to schedule an appointment when you go the panel physician in frankfurt, but you need one for the others.

so if you decide to get it done before hand and you will get packet 4 with the appointment for the interview just ignore the date and time they give you for the medical!

no worries, the consulate in frankfurt is awesome, everything went fine for me on thursday!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhat to send/bring to the consulate/interview?
hey phil,

i didnt send in any of the documents listed on the checklist, just the filled out forms and after we obtained all necessary docs the checklist. but you should send a copie of your passpprt along with the forms.
dont forget to sign and date additional sheets, if you should need some. but you shouldnt sign the ds156k and i think the ds156 also, read something about that on the frankfurt hompage. and talking about the ds156, you should fill out the online form cause it will be printed out with a barcode. i found the online version on the frankfurt homepage as well.

und dann noch ein kleiner tip: schau doch mal im german thread vorbei! "german people rührt euch..." da werden sie geholfen

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 Evidence of Support
QUOTE (Eternal Love @ Oct 11 2007, 11:52 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I am sure this has been asked but I keep searching and I cannot find specific answer to al my questions so I figured, I'll just post a new topic.
  1. helpsmilie.gif My Mom will be my co-sponsor - so we need two I-134 forms right? one for her and one for me. Is there any additional forms the co-sponsor needs or just the I-134?
  2. helpsmilie.gif Regarding listing assets - I know my Mom's income will be sufficient. She has assets too - should we list them. I figure, the more money you show them, the better it will look. Right or wrong???
  3. helpsmilie.gif #11 - since it's a K1 visa - I've read that we are supposed to check the DO NOT INTEND box. Is this correct?
  4. helpsmilie.gif for proof of evidence: I know it says, statement from the bank and from employer...what about copy of income return filed? I know, it only list for self-employed but would it also help to send it if not self-employed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance and goodluck to everyone!!!

1. correct, you need to fill out one form yourself and your mom needs to fill out another one. nothing extra is required, as far as i know! please someone corret me when im wrong.
2. i dont really know about that but if her income is enough to support her one household plus your fiancee then i wouldnt list the assets, but you can definately do so if it makes you feel better! and dont forgetm, everything you list you have to submit a proof for it.
3. im not sure about that either, as far as i can remember my fiance checked the box and then wrote that were going to be husband and wife and that he would support me with furniture, housing.....
4. you should definately submit the letter of employer with your most recent pay stubs and you can also submit your most recent tax returns even though youre not self-employed! my fiance did so.

you wrote you need to leave 4 days after the exam. do you want to fly to the states then? if you intend to leave belgium to move to the states youll probably encounter some issues!
when is your medical? when is your interview?
you know that the embassy will only issue your visa after they received your medical records form the doctor! and then itll take a couple days for you to receive your passport....
