United Kingdomscheduling medical exam with interview?
thanks for the info. we are about to send these forms and will now leave the medical exam date blank and write in that we will schedule the medical once we know the interview date. also, thanks so much for that information about how they might give you an earlier interview date if your wedding is sooner. we were going to put a safe date (not too soon so that the date might be before her actual interview) on the form even tho we plan on getting married as soon as she gets here but now we will advance it a bit. were sending the forms out this week and, i dunno, what do you think is a good date to put for the wedding? im thinking october 15th?

United Kingdomscheduling medical exam with interview?
hello again,

we called the number that they give you to schedule medical exams for the london embassy part of the k1 deal. we asked the lady on the phone if there was any way to schedule the medical exam and embassy interview on back to back days so my fiance didn't have to fly to london from glasgow on seperate occasions. she said to call them back to schedule the medical exam once we know the interview date.

now my question is, is this possible? on the iv-15k form we need to send to the immigration unit in order to get the interview date, it asks for the medical exam date. i thought we could just write there that we will schedule the medical date once we know the interview date.

is this ok?

United KingdomBuying English foods in Florida
im not sure about florida as i live in north carolina but i find most grocery stores have an international section along with a united kingdom bit. the prices can be a bit outrageous tho. i got a lil bit addicted to hobnobs while staying with my fiance in scotland. i was getting two packs of them for a pound. my local grocery store in the states has 1 pack of hobnobs for $5!

sorry, this probably isnt any help at all but i just felt like expressing my outrage on the price of hobnobs in the states. crying.gif

United Kingdomevidence of support tax returns
hey guys, i just have a wee question for anyone who might be able to help me out.

im looking at the embassy's website and on the section explaining the evidence of support it states that we need to provide "notarized copies of his or her latest federal income tax return". what does notarized copies exactly mean? I know I have to get the affidavit of supported notarized at a notary when i sign it but im not sure what they want here. I obtained my tax return transcripts and w2s from the irs. do i need to take these to the notary and sign it somewhere and have them stamp it? or am i fine with just the tax return transcripts and w2s from the irs as they are?

thanks guys. youre all awesome for being there and helping people and all that good stuff.

cheers!

No. You can call DOS and ask them if they've received your checklist response and if an interview date has been assigned. The number is 202-663-1225. Press 1 then 0.

Hi, we've been waiting several weeks to get the interview letter but so far have heard nothing, I just tried to call the number you suggested but don't have an option to press 0 and therefore cannot speak to any regarding our case number.. any suggestions?

hmm. it should work. im actually on hold right now with dos. what you do is dial that # and then when the automated attendant starts speaking, press 1 and then wait 3 seconds and press 0. after that, theyll put you on hold (no on-hold music) until someone is available to take your case# and give you an update.

hope this helps.

thank you for your help guys.

i just called that DOS number and they said an interview date was not set for us yet. when my fiance asked if they received the forms we sent yet, she said all the information we have at this time is that we sent packet3 and an interview date hasnt been set yet. i think ill call back myself when i get home from work and try and get someone else but im wondering, are they not able to tell u that they received ur checklist and forms before an interview date is set? we sent the checklist and forms nearly a month ago.

thanks again

thanks.

one more thing, if our interview is before the initial noa2 expiration date, do we still need to provide a notarized intent to marry letter?

thanks for the info. i wasnt aware that we had to provide another intent to marry letter. that makes sense now tho because i was wondering what "notarized documents" on the checklist meant since you don't have to notarize affidavits of support anymore.

United Kingdomnoa2 expiring concerns
hello again,

our noa2 is expiring in mid november and i was worried that we wouldnt have our interview before that. after a bit of research, it seems that a lot of embassies automatically extend the noa2 another 4 months when this happens. i just want to make sure that london does this as there seemed to be a bit of confusion as to whether all or some of the embassies automatically extend your noa2.

another thing, will i need the noa2 to not be expired after we get married and apply for aos?

thanks again guys.

hello gang,

ellie will be coming into the states this saturday at jfk, ny (december 5th) and im soo excited! i know she needs to get that i-94 form and fill it out for customs and also we need a copy of it for the AOS. she can ask the flight staff while she is on her flight going to ny for this form, correct? also, is this the form she needs i94 ? <-- click the link

she needs the one that has the white and green parts, correct?

another question: when she gets into the airport in newyork which line does she need to get on for customs? i forget the names but there is like the one for US citizens (and visa holders maybe?) and then another line for those with foreign passports? sorry, were not too clear on this and figured some of you could clear this up for us.

thanks for all your help again guys.

Thank you for letting us know that...this part for me not knowing if they got it, if it has been lost, or if we need to send it again...is driving me nuts! It makes me feel better to know that we are not alone...

I wanted to ask???When you went to the interview and paid for the postage to get your visa mailed back to you, do you get any kind of tracking number? I was just curious..

we didn't but i think most people do from what ive read. the reason we didnt is because ellie didnt have her medical exam before her interview so she was approved pending medical results.

also, they take your cellphone# so that they can text message you when the courier service is about to deliver your visa.

you dont need a special courier service. the next day signed for is what we used and was fine. just dont expect dos to be able to tell you that the embassy got it for a bit. we mailed ours next day on august 26th and dos didnt have it in their system until september 30th even tho it was signed for on august 27th.

So is it better to send courier, will it be logged quicker?

im not sure really. normally i would think it doesnt matter but because of the postal strike, maybe a courier service would be quicker.

Hi,
A little advice needed, if anyone could help.

We are thinking of sending the police certificate form in next week on the 2 day priority processing, and also sending back the packet 3 next week, before we get the certificate back. From everything I have heard the embassy is taking around a month to get back with an interview date, so I really cannot see this way of doing things being a problem, as I have had not criminal records etc.

Would anyone advise against doing this, or have any information as to why not?

Thanks for all advice.

What do you do if your police certificate has an error and you've told the embassy you're ready, and you can't get it corrected in time for your interview? Then what will you do?

Avoid the heart burn, and be actually ready for your interview at the time you send in your checklist claiming to be so. By that I mean, you should have everything on the checklist physically in your hands at the time. Not "in the mail" not "requested" Received, and checked for accuracy.

and then theres this, more responsible approach hehe.

Sarah called the rip-off line today and they said "6-8 weeks until you get an interview letter" and then hung up. That would scare the hell out of me if I didn't see you all getting your interview notifications in much quicker time than that.

it really is a shame how these workers at dos and the embassy can be so useless, misleading or just down right wrong. but then i guess thats the government for ya. i could see making this process a bit more difficult just to weed out the couples who aren't so serious or doing this for the wrong reasons but the incompetency along with having to be apart from your loved one for so long (and possible children) is just ridiculous.

i could vent for days on the incompetency of office employees, especially the ones getting our tax and visa fee money.

i dont see why you would pay for the 2day processing on the police certificate. once you mail the packet 3 forms to them, youre looking at probably at least 6 weeks until your actual interview date. we ordered the police certificate for the cheaper, regular processing and received it in 10 days. weve had the police certificate for weeks now and we still havent even had our interview date set yet. now, theres no problem with paying for priority processing, i just think its unnecessary at this point.

if i were you, id apply for the police certificate right now and send packet 3 next week or whenever you are ready.

I've told Sarah to call the rip off line tomorrow to see if she can get an update as that will be 28 days since they received it.

Hmmmm..........so a month for them to do things...maybe then you get your packet 4 shortly after....keep us posted!

will do. im thinking our interview date will be set very soon.

we put on the checklist that we would schedule our medical exam once we found out our interview date. ellie, living in glasgow, isnt so close to london that its nae bother to go over their twice. i see some people have had their interview dates being 2 weeks after they find out about it. i hope if this happens, we have enough time to set the medical exam for the day before or after the interview. her father lives just outside of london so its not big deal if she has to stay an extra night or two but yea, ill sure be glad once all this is over, hehe.

being apart for this amount of time with the added stress of the whole visa process is a huge test for a relationship. i think it is hard, especially towards the end of the process, to still feel as excited and connected as you felt before. for some of us weve been apart for 6+ months and being so far apart, sometimes it can feel like the energy between you isnt the same anymore. but you know when this whole thing is over and youre together, everything is going to be awesome and this torture will only serve to sweetin where youre at.
