Hello again I have a few questions also, or am in looking in to this to deeply? I have a affidavit from the US Embassy in Conakry. My civil marriage was done at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs there in Conakry also. My marriage certificate however is in French which I tried to get in in english but they told me over and over again that its ok. They have done plenty of marriages and have never had any problem, and it just so happen that my wife Queen Mother in our wedding works there and I told her what I needed and I even signed online and showed her this site and the guidelines and she told us not to worry. Do I need to get more proof of "bonefide wedding" or will the proof that I have be enough. And 1 last question my wife birth certificate is in French also will I need to get that translated also and what about when she does her medical exam which will be a French speaking country also will we need to get those documents in english also blink.gif

YOU INTERVIEW SHOULD BE COMING

Africa: Sub-SaharanGhana interview process question
According to other Ghanaian applicants, the packets are not mailed, instead you receive a letter in the mail which gives you a date to pick the packet.. Wednesdays Only. 7am til, i dont really know..You can track ur case based on where in the process you are, so be objective.

Interview dates are given based on the embassy's caseload, according to other VJ'ers..but the Gh situation, you pick up your packet on a wednesday morning, has everythg u need to fill, u do ur police report and start your immunizations, ur interview date will be in the packet. If you are approved on that date, you are given a month to pick up..doesnt make sense to me either...i know..and 6 months to leave GH in all..

Hope i helped :bonk:

Africa: Sub-SaharanWhat is needed when I go to Ghana to apply for Fiancee Visa?
Ayt, first of all its a process..theres no way he's coming with you..thats without a doubt. So keep that in mind. You have to apply here and when the case is approved it would be sent to the US Embassy in Gh where the rest would be processed, he does his interview, police reports and blah, then ofcourse the interview. If you guys get married before you leave, then that put you in a whole new visa category which is k-3 and generally it takes longer.
Averagely when u apply here for the K1..you should be expecting a decision in no later than 6months, then give yourself another 3wks to a month for the NVC to process it, a week and some days for it to get to GH, no later than 6-8 weeks for them to call him, and based on the workload will schedule an interview date, generally within 6-8weeks, if he gets approved at the interview then he picks up the visa a month from the interview date..Check the guidelines, timelines and all the other resources available here.

Sorry to burst your bubble but he aint coming with you when you go..send me an email and i can break it down for you over the phone..

Africa: Sub-SaharanWhat is needed when I go to Ghana to apply for Fiancee Visa?
take alot of pictures.. :bonk: :bonk: a whole lot at different locations, because after all is said and done..you have to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the relationship is legit. Gh has a somewhat reputation for fraud marriages. Just like Midge said..follow her recommendations. Everything else is case specific and just send her or myself an email and we will be than happy to help in anyway we can.

Luckily you would be applying through CSC, fingers crossed if you have all you need, the case should move pretty fast...keywords here.."fingers crossed"..

All the best..

Africa: Sub-SaharanInterview Scheduled in Ghana...BUT!!!!!!!
Matana, i feel your pain..all the talk about backlog and all the highspeed ####### is just excuses.
I've seen people get their case down there in March and get an April interview date..
My point here is this, Im in the same situation ..my case got approved in late Feb, got to Ghana in mid march and ws emailed to come pick up the packet in late april..and guess what, i got a late october date just like you...
Worst part of it was my fiance was gainfully employed in London,UK..left her job to Ghana and now has to sit around for six months

The only bright spot is she gets to spent time with family but thats a bit overrated if you doin it for 6 months. the next step now for us is we've contacted our congressman to appeal on our behalf for a reschedule date and being that im military im hoping there is a card there i can play but so far nothing yet.

Its a sad case of total ineffectiveness, but like i was telling someone on here the other day, i dont blame them, the culture down there has made them some sort of demigods.

We all need to work together at this point especially those awaiting approval and interview dates and come up with a way around this because there are other embassies in the region who arent as clueless as these guys.

All the best and will keep you guys in our prayers..we love you and stay strong cuz at this point thats all we can do and play the waiting game..urrrhhhgggghhhhh!!!!!!!!

If you meet the poverty requirements on income alone then you do not need bank statements.

If you want to send them, you can just send copies of your monthly statements showing your monthly balance. That seems to work for most people.

Hey eveyryone, this is more related to the I-134 and whats needed for the interview. I included the I-134, W-2s from this year, and the past year of LES (pay stubs for civies that dont know)....DO THEY ABSOLUTELY NEED MY 1040s???????????????

HEY! I'm in the Air Force TOO! When you prepared the I-134 Affadait of Support...did he add his base pay, BAH or OHA, COLA and BAS to the income block??? (ALL ENTITLEMENTS???)

I know my base pay alone should put me over the "100%" level, but I'm worried they might reject it and ask for more accurate earnings. All I got is several LES and maybe a W-2!

QUOTE (PrettyFlower @ Jan 21 2009, 12:05 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
you dont have to be there at the interview.
i was by myself when i did cos my fiance couldnt take the time off from work. and he is in the US air force.
so dont worry about it.
i was alone at the embassy but everything went well.

good luck.

oh hold on... his lawyer arranged the tax returns for him and faxed it over.
i hadnt had a chance to go through it cos i got his fax at 1am and my flight for manila (USEM) was at 5 that very morning.
and he dont remember what his lawyers prepared. he was on deployment when i asked for it.
but i remember just seeing a W2 - it was reviewed by the consul and was given a go.
hope i helped.

good luck!

I am on active duty in the US Army and with the nature of my work, I may or maynot be able to be present with my fiance for the K1 interview. Will it in anyway affect our application, if I'm not physically present at the embassy?
Sorry I keep coming back, but without each one of you guys i would have been in a complete mess. All ideas are welcomed

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterview question examples

My fiancé had his interview today in Ghana. They asked him when we met, when I came back to visit, where I work, what I do for my job. I'd have to agree they ask specific questions for each relationship. They probably mix it up to keep people on their toes. The lady did try to trip my fiancé up when he didn't have a copy of his birth certificate. She said he needed it and he was prepared with secondary information that the instructions said was adequate. She tried to tell him no he needed the birth certificate and he showed her where it said the school information was acceptable. We were prepared with EVERYTHING, they took what they wanted (the forms he filled out and the forms that I filled out) and gave him everything else back (pictures, skype log, emails, phone records etc.). He was APPROVED and asked to come back April 15th to get his visa

OMG Congrats Nickey...that was real smart of him, no disrespect to other applicants here but i think alot of times some applicants are intimidated by the consulars and thus end up tripping all over themselves even before they have a chance to be interviewed, then again, i havent experienced it personally so it all hypothetical. But When you say everythg, can you please break it down for me. And finally, when u got the NVC notification, how long did it take to get them to call him for the pick up and how long was the pick up date from the interview date. Did he initiate the contact or the embassy did to get in touch with him when the packet got there...i here   dancing for u guys..Congrats again
