USCIS Service CentersTexas Service Center update

Thought I'd update all the other frustrated petitioners out there providing you with an update of the TSC.  I contacted USCIS today 7/22/14 and the representative stated that they are currently processing petitions dated December 17th, 2013 and based on my Feb 21 2014 NOA1 she estimated another 2 months.     :ranting:

Good point, although she stayed here for that amount of time she's only a tourist and did not live here

Yes, thank you. And I did have an opportunity to review those links you assisted me with, only I was wondering that if I can obtain the police record from here in the States since she'll have been stateside for the past 6 months. And I only say so because unless I am incorrect I believe the police record has to be from where the bride resided for the last 6 months. And please, do correct me if I am wrong.

I also did want to travel with her to help her get everything done in a timely manner and correctly. She's been under "my wing", per se, for nearly a year now.

Do you think we can get all accomplished
Oh, and do you think that if we plan ahead the interview and medical that we can possibly get it all done within 9 business days??

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaFiance waiting out k-1 petition approval visiting on B-2 here in the U.S.

My fiance was granted a 6 month stay visiting with me here in U.S. which should cover the approximate 5 month processing time,  Anybody with any personal experience or knowledge in regards to dealing with the Embassy in Costa Rica as far as her not being able to be notified because she is no longer available at her contact number and will not be able to pick up the next packet until WE fly back to get her medical and interview; assuming notification is within the 6 months that she's allowed to stay here/expiration of her B-2.  I'm assuming I will get my email/text message notification upon approval and it's forwarding to the NVC & ultimately to the Embassy in Costa Rica.

1.  Will we be able to schedule the interview instead of the Embassy doing so?  And the purpose of that is so we can coordinate the medical and whatever other else that needs to be done.

2..  Can we obtain a police records check for her from here in the U.S. because by then she'll have been in the states for the past 6 months and not Costa Rica.

Thanks all!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSubmitting documents in a foreign language for the I-129F package

I am fluent in Spanish so may I translate a document a document, for example a divorce document from Spanish into English to submit it with my I-129 package stating / certifying that I the translation is complete and accurate or should it be from an official Translation service and or independent from myself because I am applying for the visa?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsTranslated Divorce Documents to English

I've been going over the Cover letter to be sent with the I-129F packet and also read else where about the divorce documents being required.  Do the divorce documents get included in the initial packet or is it part of the packet that's needed at the interview.  I'm getting a little confused the more that I read and I'm getting ready to put the initial packet together.  Also, if I translate the divorce documents from Spanish to English I heard that was acceptable as long as I include a written statementwhich indicates that I have an understanding in both languages and that it accurately represents what is said in the foreign language??

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsk-1 visa / tourist visa

This is my particular situation and I would like to run it by the forum. I met a girl while traveling May 2013, since then we've applied twice for tourist visas, last being Sept 2013. Alledgedly, she kept getting turned down for her lack of ties within her community. She doesnt work and has few financial obligations so I have providing for her since then, we got engaged Oct 2013, we opened a jont bank account in her country and i've been traveling back and forth every 2 to 3 weeks since we've met. My big question is this; I will be filing our I-129f next month and was wondering if by providing proof of the i-129f acceptance if that would help us by them recognizing that she shall return to her country for her k-1 visa interview in addition to the anything else that has been established since Sept that I have mentioned??  In other words, what is your opiniion on obtaining a tourist visa once the 129f has been accepted?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMedical Examination in San Jose / Results time delay???

anybody with recent past experience with getting the medical portion of the processing??  According to the info under the embassy it advises that the results are not immediate.  I'm trying to get it all done in a timely manner and does anybody know if it is available within a day or two so i can schedule the appointment close to the interview date when I get that information from the Consulate.  I can always call the doctors if all else fails

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsForeign Language Translation of documents
Thanks for the info. Not tight on the budget but both my English and Spanish are equally as good so at the time of filing my petition in Feb 2014 it seemed like a good idea by following their guide lines. Still waiting on noa2 so I'll leave it all as such for now. Thanks for your time and extra effort

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsForeign Language Translation of documents
Quick question in reference to translation of documents. Can the petitioner translate the documents as long as he includes that he certifies and that he is fluent in that language and that it is an accurate representation (I don't remember what exactly I had written but I had followed the proper format. The reason I am now asking is because I had seen somewhere that neither the petitioner or beneficiary may perform the translation. I also read under a USCIS page that the translator must "certify" that it is an accurate representation of what the original document states. The word "certify", tricky word, do they mean that the translator must have a certification or certify in the sense of making the statement and that he states that it is accurate, etc.... ???? Anyone??

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsApplying on-line for the nonimmigrant visa at the consulate after approval of the k-1 Petition
I'm a little confused as far as which on-line visa application shall I tell my fiancée in San Jose Costa Rica to complete prior to her interview. We have already been notified of our NOA2 of our K-1 and the petition is on its way to the NVC. Some websites advise D-160 and others D-156 so I am a little confused. I looked over the 160 and it requests to select which visa I see the B's and others and not the K. Can somebody explain and provide a direct link to the proper page please. Is it the same visa application that she completed for her tourist visa??, and if so it does not have the option of selecting a K visa.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAny word of advice in reference to NVC approval & Petition sent already to the San Jose Costa Rica Consulate / US Embassy??
Thanks all for the insight. Been calling the embassy every day lately to see if they've received it yet cause it was shipped out from the NVC on Aug 25th and I've already submitted the ds160 for my fiancée since she is here with me and I wanted to avoid the time delay of the Embassy contacting her since they would prob take longer to do that than for me to find out they have received it and I can then schedule the dr appointment from here and have the interview date scheduled too

I have also already downloaded the alledged packet 3 then I'm guessing because it's the list of doctors and medical instructions and aside from that I will be bringing all of the originals documents submitted with my original k1 petition and a copy of that petition as well.  I think I am good to go then.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAny word of advice in reference to NVC approval & Petition sent already to the San Jose Costa Rica Consulate / US Embassy??
I received the letter from the NVC where they advised that my approved K-1 petition was sent to the Embassy of Costa Rica on August 25 and they provided me with it's corresponding case number, even though when I had spoken to them via telephone prior to the letter via US Postal they had stated that it was sent out on the 22nd, anyway, this is my question:

I have completed the DS 160 with my fiancée since she is here in the US with me and have already submitted it. Still waiting on the petitions arrival in Costa Rica so we can fly there and take care of business and then fly back. It's already been nearly 11 days and was wondering if there is any link or inside information on what else is going to be needed aside from my employment verification, financial support form and updated intention to marry letters so I can expedite in preparation. I've noticed links in reference to other Embassy's in reference to Packet 3 & packet 4 ( I believe there is no packet 4 in relation to my case. Can anybody advise, maybe other San Jose Costa Rica K-1 Petitioners??

Thanks guys

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsIn Transit time from NVC to Consulate in San Jose

Thanks for the information.  And yes, been speaking to the Embassy and I even asked them if there's a time delay between the time that they receive it and the time that it's entered into the system and they stated that it's done immediately upon receipt.  So, I guess we'll see and like you said, hopefully it'll be sooner than later, maybe anytime soon actually.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsIn Transit time from NVC to Consulate in San Jose

I've received the hard copy letter from the NVC advising that my k-1 petition was sent out August 25th and it has yet to arrive.  According to the link provided on another date it still shows as "in transit" and only comes up under the search of an immigrant petition.  Ive checked several other timelines showing time between the NVC and their corresponding Consulates, to include to San Jose & I can't figure out why it's taking so long to get there.  I've also been calling every few days and still nothing.  Anybody with any ideas???

I'm a little confused if anything needs to accompany the I-129F when filing the application.  Does the supporting documentation go along with the application or is that needed at the time the K-1 is applied for at the time of the interview at the Embassy?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresvisiting on tourist visa for 6 months while I-129f processes

Fiance is home with me stateside on a tourist visa while I-129f processes and we shall return to her home country in 6 months or less (expecting to be receive notification that her package is forwarded to her embassy by then) for her interview and medical exam but since she is currently under my medical policy as a domestic partner do you think that the consular will accept her medical records to-be from our current doctor since i've read that they have particular doctors she can only see in her home country of Costa Rica?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 NVC case number information
I've spoken to them twice, the first time they said that it takes them 5 weeks to receive it and 2 days ago they said 25 days. I don't know if they actually mean to process it because we all know it doesn't take that amount of time to receive it via some type of mailing system that they use. I couldn't get through today after being on hold for 45 minutes. Guess I'll try again tomorrow.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F / Not Applicable- NA, NONE or Blank?

I came across the same issue in regards to not leaving anything blank and initially did not, however, didn't want to take a chance in getting an RFE for something as simple as that so I corrected the PDF file and reprinted it again per its latest instructions.  In my book it was well worth doing because you never know and you're at their mercy.  Good luck and keep posting :joy:
