Hosam had his interview last night and we were put on AP helpsmilie.gif . You would think they would be checking all this through the whole process and have a direct answer after the interview. After a flawless package and proof of an ongoing relationship since 2003 and with letters from family and friends in both countries and way beyond the information they asked for. Im really hurting right now but at least they didnt deny us blush.gif . I really feel they could be doing all this AP while everything is being sent to all the various agencies. Theres really no reason for the AP's except government employee laziness as far as im concerned but i guess this is my lovely country and its way of doing things headbonk.gif . InshAllah it wont take that long but im one of those people that if i didnt have bad luck i wouldnt have any at all...lol. I wish all the luck to all you lovely people on ur journey's and may Allah bless you all... good.gif

Congratulations on the interview and sorry about the AP.
believe it or not i was going to contact you yesterday to ask about your fiance's interview .but i knew the result . i knew that they will put him under AP.
don't be sad .it seems they put everyone under ap now in Cairo .''I'm under AP since March ,2009''
I hope that we will hear good news soon .Hang in there and good luck

Mohamed

Inshallah ya Mohamed things will go quickly and i wish you and Trina good luck as i do everyone here.Hosam isnt to happy right now and he feels its just the embassy punishing us all but i told him theres a reason for everything and Allah (swt) knows best so i keep patient and hope for the best...I also have a very good sense of humor so that helps lol

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)i-130 with planned i-601a

Can anyone tell me where the I-601A fees get paid? Is it online or do I send a check or money order with the App?

We understand all the stuff about the waivers and it wasnt a permit to leave the USA per say but to be able to return to the USA. My SIL has a very stable good paying job here in the US which is great and he cant afford to take the chance on getting back in illegally if he chose to leave to see his grandma.  We got it all figured out...

we know hes not finished Darnell but as for him getting an emergency permit to leave the states its not gonna happen. At this point the doctors say she wont last much longer as in days or hours, not months :clock:

They made an appointment with the local office to see if there was anything he could do. they basically told him there was nothing and if he left the country and got caught trying to come back in he would lose everything he has done and worked for and would be castigated for 5 years.Sad but c'est la vie

Thx again everyone for your help

I 601 or I601A is one ofd the forms your Daughter will need to fill, looks like it will be a I 601 now.

If she does not have a grasp on the process then a Lawyer would be a good idea, not straightforward unless you do a lot of research or employ a lawyer who does waivers.

they already got  taken by a lawyer in Texas and shes disappeared

Then it makes no difference, he can not adjust in country anyway.

Assuming he is older than 18 and 6 months he would have to interview in CDJ and need a waiver.

Was the intention to file the I 601A?

 What is a I-601A?

It seems to me everyone  is missing the point. I just needed to know, is there any way for him to get an "EMERGENCY"  pass or permission to go out to see his grandma that seems to be dying?

What is his current status in the US , how did he enter and when ?   Emergency travel (AP) doens't always override  status issues.

Hes been in the states for like 10 yrs now. He came with a coyote when he entered and im assuming he came through Tijuana or Mexicali like most who enter through the California Border.

Is here here on a visa or is he doing the new waiver process in the US for illegal entry.  This makes huge differences in the advise because he could leave and end up with a 10 year bar on reentry

He was here illegally and they filed i think after the new waiver thing. The USCIS site says he has been approved and it has been sent on to NVC

You got NOA2 on 1/18 and you still haven't gotten a case# from the NVC yet?  I hear the NVC is backed up these days, but waiting 4 months for a case# sounds very excessive.

Are they sure they didn't get a response from the NVC already, and got a case#?  After NOA2, usually in 2-4 weeks (maybe a little longer) you should get an email from NVC indicating you should send the ds-3032 choice agent form.  They didn't get an email from NVC yet?  Check your spam filter...if not, call the NVC now and ask for a case status update.

yes they got the choice of agent over a month ago and they sent it in and paid some fees. So should they call the NVC or USCIS itself to ask about leaving the country on an emergency. When it says his Visa has been approved and was sent to NVC, what exactly does that mean. When my husband and I did ours it was totally different as it was DCF in Egypt so im kinda lost. dry.png dry.png

Hi Im writing for my daughter cuz she cant get to a computer at the moment. My son in law has recently recieved a letter saying his I-130 had been approved and checking his status right now  and it says,

Post Decision Activity

On January 18, 2013, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I-130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State

Problem is that it went on to NVC and we have no idea how long that takes. We got a call today that his grandma is gravely ill and in the hospital. His grandma pretty much raised him after his mom died when he was really small. We need to know if theres any way for him to get an emergency exit permission or something so he may go to Mexico and return to the States afterward. He is here in California and needs to travel to Michoacan. If anyone out there knows anything on this subject please respond ASAP.

TY so very much, Kha Bakr

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaI-601A denied but no criminal history! Now What can we do?

My son in laws I-601A has been denied and now my daughter has received his interview appointment for June 6, 2014 in Juarez. What can they do now as he has permanent work and it would cause extreme hardship on her and others as he also helps support his sister and her 3 kids and his own wife and child? Is there anything they can do? Any solutions? We heard that a lot of people were denied for the wrong reasons and USCIS is now reviewing those cases but dont know if this is correct information.

To be frank not all Egyptians working at the embassy are rude , I have dealt with US embassy twice ,
I went with my wife to get the no objection statement , they were very nice to us and we were out in 10 minutes ,
at the interview , when i was called to the window first , the lady was smiling to us ( me and my wife ) and she was joking saying , ohh , you didn't wake up yet , she was very nice and professional , I assume they have this behavior because they have seen many young guys getting married to their grandmas for the visa.
what do you think if you are Egyptian working at the US embassy with Americans ,
and everyday Americans make jokes and statements about those guys getting married for visas ,
would you be very helpful ? you will be ashamed of being Egyptian ,
I'm not justifying , my visa is delayed for a reason ofcourse , i have many stamps in my passport , Syria,Jordan , UK AND AND . but we can never say all of them are rude , some of them are

I am personally offended by the grandma statement as i am 46 and my fiance is 29. we have been together since 2004 and i see people on here getting this process in less than a year knowing each other. how can they possibly even know this person that well and just jump in and say woohoo lets get married? I am very satisied that my relationship is stable and long termand i compare it to our prophet SAWS nd his first wife Khadijah and their diference in age so plz dont offend us "Grandmas" in your statements!! we communicate better than people i know have been married for 20 yrs so dont down us!!!

Middle East and North AfricaRamadan & overbearing WASP family

Anybody have a similar story?
My fiance and I have been together for three years now. I was born into a Christian family, but made the decision to practice Islam. Three Ramadans ago, not yet a Muslima, I decided to do Ramadan as much as I could. My family would be mortified if I had told them, but I did mention my fasting to a cousin, and it later got back to my family that I was fasting and it was a scandal, but no one talked about it openly- just behind my back. Last year I was fortunate enough to be living in Granada where my fiance lives and was able to do Ramadan freely. Now I am back in the states awaiting my fiance and practicing Ramadan in my own home. My fiance thinks it is best we do no discuss my practicing Ramadan with my family because of how upset they would get and cause alot of problems for me. However, my mother has been picking at me since the first day of Ramadan to get me to eat, admit I am doing Ramadan, or just bring up the subject of Christianity with me. First of all, she called me up the first day of Ramadan to have dinner (scallops- my favorite) with them at six- I told her I'd be busy till later and might stop by. Then she started asking me what I ate for lunch in the cafeteria at the school where I work and went on about how they ought to have crawfish etoufee, shrimp scampi, baked chicken or whatever at the school. I finally told her I couldnt talk since she refused to change the subject. She called me back ten minutes later saying she was going to stop by my house to bring me some homegrown vegetables and some pastries, and she wanted me to make a pot of coffee. Told her I was going to be out running errands and hung up. She called me a couple of minutes later to say they would have dinner early and that I could run my errands later. Told her sorry, cant.
She knows exactly what she's doing and knows I'm fasting but wants to tempt me. So I never went over to their house and I broke fast at the appropriate time at home. I ignored her call the next day, but called her back Sat. morning. She said she wanted to go to this new store that just opened and did I want to go with her. I told her sure, but we'd leave at 9 cause I had to be back for 11 ( I did not want to get stuck with her at lunch). She shows up at my house at 1030, of course, we both silently know this is on purpose. Anyway we go to the new store, then to the bank. I needed to stop by target to get something, but on the way (she's driving, my mistake, I shouldve driven) she says we ought to go to my favorite cafe and get my favorite salad there. I told her I didnt have time and needed to be back soon cause I had to be at work at 1. So what does she do? Orders it to go. I tell her really, Im not hungry and I'll eat later.
So shes being very obnoxious about it all and waves the food in my face when she gets back in the car. I'm trying not to make too big of a deal but shes really overdoing it. We get back to my place. She starts dishing everything up, I tell her not to get me a plate cause I still have to get ready for work, etc. and I'll eat later. She refuses and almost physically forces me to eat with her. I tell her to stop being childish and pushy and that I'm leaving for work, shell have to eat alone. She says "NO Come back and tell me why you're not eating. Jesus would want you to eat. Come back." I ask her if she knows how to lock up after herself and I leave the house for work.
I call my fiance on the way and tell him the ordeal. He tells me I did right in not eating and that I have to be a little harsh with her so she'll stop. She is seriously pushy!
He tells me I ought to be nice to her next time, but let her know I'm not going to put up with any foolishness. So later when she calls I hesitate to answer, but pick up. She wants to know at 5:30 if I want to eat crabs. I tell her maybe, that I'm taking a nap and I'll let her know later. She asks me if I'm taking a nap because I'm hungry, I tell her I'm taking a nap because I'm tired. She asks me if I will go with her to church tomorrow, I say maybe. She says " that sounds like no to both" and I tell her I'm tired and I'm going back to nap.
I never went to her house or anything so here I am. The big pink elephant in the room. They know, I know, but no one wants to say the R word and I know if someone says it, they will launch a Christian "jihad" on me and will make a huge deal for months about it just like they did when I got engaged "to a Muslim".
I'm pretty much disgusted with their behavior and wish my family would stop the pushiness and the evangelizing. You cant force anyone to do anything even if they are your child.
They same thing happened when I stopped eating pork and drinking alcohol several years ago and they still try to get me to eat/ drink it.
Anyone have any similar stories?

My heart gos out to you hun but your doing the right thing. Its hard when you convert to Islam to stop things you did as a christian and even harder when you have family hounding you and dont want to accept your decision in life. The main thing you have to do is be strong and make it known in your family that this is a LIFE choice for you and you will not be deterred by anything they say or do.Be firm but in a loving way and tell them you will be glad to discuss Islam with them if they would like to know more and remember...Jihad is an inner battle and not Holy war! it can be a holy war but theres not a prorblem with that right now except from extremists weird ideas. This is your Jihad baby girl and you will win it im sure. Allah will give you the strength and he will bless you for your struggle with family. Good luck baby girl and RAMADAN MUBAREK!! Khadijah

Here are some questions they might ask him at the interview :-

1-What's your fiancee full name?
2-How many times have you met?
3-When and how did you meet?
4- How long have you known each other?
5-How long were you together the last time?
6-What are the dates of the visits?
7-Where does she live? Which city and state?
8-What does she do for a living?
9-What is her phone number?
10-Do you know how long she has had this job?
11-Did you have an engagement party ? Please describe it .
12-Have you met her family?
13-Where does her parents live?
14-Why would you choose to marry so much older/younger than you?
15-How do you spell her middle name?
16-What are your fiancee parents names?
17-Does your wife have any brothers or sisters? What are their names?
18-Do you know if your fiancee was married before? How many times ?
19-When did she divorce her ex-husbands?
20-Does your fiancee have any children? how many ? What are their names? do they live with her?
21-Why do you want to travel to the United States?
22-What is your fiancee birth date?
23-Where was your fiancee born?
24-Where and when were you married?
25-What company does she work for and what is her title?
26-Did you prepare the forms yourself?
27-Which university did she graduate from?
28-What is her ex-husband's name?
29-have you talked to her family on the phone ?
30-Do they approve of your relationship?
31-When was her last divorce?
32-how long you known each other ?
33-what do you love about your fiancee?
34-what do your parents think about the engagement ?do they approve it ?
35-why your wife's marriage not work out ?
36-what did you send to your fiancee like gifts...?
37-what did she send to you ?
38-How much she make a year ?

Here are some tips for the interview:

1. Do not volunteer information. For most questions, the shorter and more direct the answers are, the shorter the interview and the higher the chance of success. If the question is a yes or no question, give yes or no answers only. If the question is a simple question like "What is your name?" answer simply with your name.

2. If you do not know the answer to a question, do not lie. Say, "I don't know the answer to that at this time." or "I don't remember."

3. The answer to many questions will be in the papers that were sent in the petitions. Questions like, "what are your fiancee's parent's names". They will expect you to know the information given in your petitions. Review everything in your paperwork with your fiancee before your interview, and do a mock interview to see how the information may be applied.

4. Avoid saying "I think . . .". Women do this a lot. The examiner will expect you to know not be unsure, of your answers. Also, avoid adding "umm", "you know" and "ahh" type fillers to your speech.

5. When applicable, don't just state, demonstrate. If the examiner asks a question that can be answered with a document or photograph(s), provide it along with your answer.

For example, if the examiner asks, "What does your family think of your fiancee?", give them a picture or two with your answer; "They like her very much. Here is a picture of her with my mother and father at my parent's home." .....

Or, "How many attended your engagement party?" Answer, "(give a number, then say) We have some lovely wedding photos of our guests having fun. Here are a few that I can show you."

6. Give American answers for dates and times. 12/24/07, not 24/12/07.

7. Dress well, but not overdressed.

8. Try to appear calm, well organized, and friendly. Nervousness raises suspicions.

9. Remain focused. If the examiner makes jokes, smile and enjoy, but do not make jokes too.

10. Make proper eye contact when conversing with the examiner, and try to control your own facial expressions so that your face remains pleasant and cordial.

11. Be audible so that your examiner doesn't have to ask you to repeat your answers.

12. Organize your papers in a way that will allow you to retrieve them easily and quickly. Examiners appreciate order and someone who doesn't waste their time.

13. When the interview is over, always ask for the results. "What should I now tell my fiancee about my visa status after our interview?" Before you leave, have them explain any papers they give to you and/or any procedures they will be taking to complete your case. Try to get the examiner's name for future reference, if needed. Write it down.

14. Arrive early to the consulate, but also be prepared to wait for a time past your scheduled interview appointment time. Be careful of thieves around the consulate if you have to carry cash. Bring ID; you cannot enter without it.

Good luck and my best wishes for you .

Mohamed

Moh knows alot and i would advize you to find out as much as u can about each other that u dont know.they may even ask him how old ur mother is.they may ask him where u went to school or what your place of employment is. they can ask anything and everything and just so you know, they have no feeling or emotion and dont think of you as someone in love. it is their duty to protect you to not marry someone that just wants their papers which is what i was told by them. they could care less whether your happy or not. and another thing.....expect AP and expect a long wait. dont get your hopes up just to be shot down. If your expecting a long wait then you will be pleasantly surprised if its short. Just telling you like it is hun and hoping your journey will be a nicer one than some of us have had but i just dont want you to go through the hurt some of us have had

Hey Khadijah .I'm so sorry to hear about that .But i mean how his second interview went ? Did he answer any of thier questions wrong ?!!

I think it will be better if start the whole process again after you get married .Why you will wait till you will hear from them ? It will take months till you will hear from them anyway .

Good luck and my best wishes for ya .

well things have changed since i last posted. we have money for living expenses while im there but not enough money for my ticket so i wont be going soon. the interview lasted about 5 minutes Hosam said. she asked him how old his mother was and when was she born. he said he wasnt sure of the date but he thought 1941. then she proceeded to ask him why he would want to marry a woman his mothers age. he told her i was born in 1963 and that his mother was a lot older than me. she told him she couldnt believe in our relationship and she was turning the case back to the USCIS. she went out of the room and he said she returned in less than 60 seconds and handed him a paper and his passport and told him ty very much and left him standing there.when he got out he called me and told me and i freaked the f@%k out. i called the embassy and made such a scandal of my rights as an american citizen that i was given to her to speak to. i humiliated myself begging and told her everything from the beginning and asked if she went through our whole packet. did she read everything from letters from our friends and families. she said she did but unconvincingly cuz i asked her a couple of direct questions she couldnt answer and she changed the subject both times. she said it was her job to protect me and she wasnt convinced our relationship was real. #######!!!! i dont want ur godamned protection! i want my rights!!!!!!!!!!! why is it a prisoner in our system can get married even though hes on death row or in for life without a possibility of parole and hes supposed to be being punished but i cant get married and spend the rest of my life with the love of my life!!!!!!!! im sick and tired of them babysitting me!!!!! i want my rights and if i have to i will take them to court and i will find a lawyer to sue the USA government for taking my rights from me!!! i will make the biggest stink they have ever smelled!!! im PISSED OFF!!! im not a nice person when u piss me off and im irate!!!!!!!! FYI....be very careful if u get a CO named MORGAN!!!!!!!!!! can anyone tell me who the consul general is?and do u have an email for him/her????? thx everyone for ur asking and concern!! its been a hellish couple of weeks and in the dumps!!

OH my God ! I'm so sorry to hear that Khadijah that's really ridiculous !
It has been 9 months since your interview and now the CO sent the case back to USA .It really does not make any sense !
Why they did not send it back after the interview ?!I mean they make you wait wait ad wait for nothing .
Hang in there my friend .I know its really hard now but love can make anything and i know that you and Hossam love each others so much .

Unfortunately my friend there is no way to amend the K1 to k3 .Now you have to wait and see if they will approve your case and send it back to the embassy .Or they will let it till its expire .

And if you will go to Egypt next month you can cancel the K1 and get married so you can file for CR1 cause there is no more k3 my friend .

You are in my prayers my friend .(F):(

well i have bad news and im in shock right now. hosam called the embassy today and on march 25th they received all the government checks and everything was good and clear. on april 1rst the CO decided she couldnt make a decision on our case and is returning it to the states. she said our case isnt logical to her. seems the age difference must be her problem. we have cooperated in every way with them. i called DOS and they confirmed it all. im lost and dont know what to do now.i will prolly travel to egypt next month if i can find an affordable ticket. im so strapped for money and not in good health either.on top of that disabled.zhit really has hit the fan this time.Allah forgive me for what i want to happen to the CO!!!! we will get married while im there since we wernt allowed when i went in 2007 becuz of the embassy and the ministry of foreign affairs being in a disagreement at the time and americans were not being allowed to get married.what can i do if we do get married and is there any way to amend the K-1 to a K-3????

im seriously lost and so very tired

well im back and it doesn't seem much has changed. i had to take a break from all the heartbreak  here cuz i just couldn't deal anymore. things have been very stressful to the point of affecting health and mind.i am seriously just not dealing well with things. i know in my heart we will get the visa eventually :clock: but how far will they go to see if they can break you down or one of you dies!!sorry but had to vent. life is hard enough to survive without all the bullzhit and then Big Brother decides to "F@#k" with you just a little more to see how far you can be pushed..well i feel better now.....NOT!! hope i didn't zhit on anyone's day but i know you people are the only ones that understand what Hosam and i are going through and will understand my anger :ranting: and frustration.

seems we have some new members and sorry too all of you for meeting me this way!! as Moh always says....i hope we all hear good news soon isA

Well yeah maybe i feel kinda good now .But i could be better that's for sure .It has been almost a year for me and still no visa .Sometimes i ask my self what the heck is going on ? why the heck its taking all that long ? I never ever thought that it will take that long .Unfortunately i can not speed up that process .So i hope that they will be done with that soon .

i have sent my joint sponsor one week ago but nothing until now , they are reviewing it . i hope they will not take a long time to review as everyday really hurts .

hot guy you are doing a great job of how patient you are and isA within march you will get your visa , and the same for khadija :)

i know that we are the remaining members of the club for now , and i really wish from the buttom on my heart that we will hear some good news for one of us within the first week of march , as we need that . my interview was 6 months ago , hot guy's interview was 12 months ago and khadija's wife's interview was 7 months ago .

may God help us and give us some more luck in order to get our visas as we really need them to get back to life again . it feels like we live on the purgatory :innocent: but we are willing to get done with the journey carrying the visas as we are too close to , and we will B-)

there's a will , there's a way

You are in my prayers .

Jeane and Jax I know that you both have been here on VJ for long time .
Khadijah was talking about that kinda people who will talk to you every single day .to ask you questions about that process .How to do this and that ?....and once they got their visas they gone .i really had bad experience with that .so many people on here was using me to get some answers for their questions and once they got their visas never heard from them anymore !
I'm not talking about all the people on here .there are so many good people that's for sure and as i said I'm still in touch with many of them even after they got their visas and even after they moved to USA or after their spouses moved to USA.

Sorry peeps but i was talking about exactly what moh says here. didnt mean to make anyone feel guilty or anything and wasnt refering to those in this thread at all as you all seem to be very close and care so much for each other.i can tell you this though....i wont disappear but it may be some timme before you hear from me when hosam gets here FYI i will be busy enjoying a looooooong honeymoon lol

lmaorotff i sent the embassy a email a week ago and finlly got my answer today .heres the content of my email then their answeI am writing this letter to ask why nothing has been done on my fiances visa case since September 2009? We were asked to submit proof of ongoing relationship in September 2009 and we promptly returned requested materials. The materials requested were received by the Embassy on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at 09:01 am. It will be a year this month February 2010 since we filed, and his visa was approved in July 13th 2009. I have written numerous emails to inquire and I call the DOS at least once a week. I feel our case is being neglected and I want a name and number there at the consulate of someone in charge I may speak with in the visa unit. The DOS claims it is their desire families be together as soon as possible and we haven't even been given the chance to start ours.PLEASE do something and stop neglecting our case so we can be together and get married.Your prompt attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated as we have been patient and waited a very long time.

Thank You, Kelly R Smith

Dear Madam,

Thank you for your e-mail message.

Please note that the case is still pending mandatory administrative processing.

Thx guys for the welcome and i feel much better today .Sometimes just need to vent and get it all out so i can go on for another who knows how long.I congratulate all of you who have made it through your journey but dont forget those who have stood by your side throughout your ordeal.I too have helped so many friends on myspaceand other places and they have made it to the states while i am still sitting here waiting for mine. they have gone on and its a miracle when i hear from one of them. makes me feel sad and at times jealous but i just have to hike up my boots and kick myself in the a$$ for feeling sorry for myself. I know those that didnt suffer as we have will never have the relationshop with thier loved ones as we do and somehow that makes me feel much better. I will be one of those in the 400's so watch out!!!!!! Thx again for your kind words and moh im rootin for ya my friend!!!
blessing for all and isA we will have good news soon

Well you can add myself and my fiance Hosam to your "AP" "Final Review" thread here but i sometimes feel like its more "lets do what most government offices do and sit here on our a$$ till i feel like picking up the stack of cases thats been sitting on my desk for 6 friggin months cuz its getting a lil crowded and i have no place to sit my coffee mug anymore" type of deal!! Sorry but it will be a year in 2 weeks more or less since we filed and our papers were impeccable and sent way more than was asked of us. Not only that but i have seen people getting K-1's that have seriously only known each other less than a year when they filed and have received their visa's in about 6-8 months. Hosam and i have been together since 2003 and i was last there in august 2007 with plans to be married then but lo and behold our embassy was in a legal argument with the ministry of foreign affairs in Egypt and were not allowing Americans to be married at that time. I apologize for the venting and airing my dirty laundry to you all but im so tired of the bull$hit.Supposedly im an American citizen and my government works for me and i have rights.....lmaorotff!!!!!!!!!what rights? I have the right to receive a generic email everytime i send an email begging and pleading with the Embassy to let us begin our lives. I have the right to get the same freakin answer from the DOS every week when i call telling me nothing has been done on our case since September 2009. I have the right to cry every friggin day of my life becuz i am 11,000 miles away from my love that i could produce enough snot to make myself rich if there was any use for it in the world.Im rooting for everyone here and Inshallah we will all get good news soon cuz we all deserve it. Thx to all of you for listening to my rant and rave i think i feel better now!!! Hot Guy you know im rootin for you buddy and wee beencorresponding and praying for each other for quite awhile now.My Allah swt bless eachh and everyone of you and may he brings us together with our loved ones.
