National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC Expedite Request
QUOTE (Em4oAndKrisi @ Mar 16 2009, 08:28 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I got my case completed last week and was hoping that I will get an interview scheduled, but I called NVC today and they said NO wait until next month.
So I asked for a supervisor and she told me that I can email her my request for expedite processing and they will contact the embassy to find out if it is possible.
Has anyone done it before, do you know what I need to include in the email. blink.gif

What is your status? Are you married? If you are married you could mention how long you have been seperated.
And to expedite would greatly be appreciated.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)DS-230 (How to Save this document)
You are not able to save any of the DS-230. Only as a Text file which will not save it in the form format.

i have a question on how to fill out #14 and #21a. Does my wife put my name is 14? and if i am going
over to fly back with her does she list me on 21a?

you are far from being done=)
you have to fill out bunch of forms including financial support form - package sent by embassy
once u return that 2 ISL wil take a few weeks to issue u an interview letter
u will need to get police certificate
medical done
then go to the interview..

after all this if the beneficary is a male, there is a V V V high chance that he wil be stuck in admin process/ name check for few months to yrs after the interview

good lucks,

Ok ones K-3 spousal is application is approved. And my wife recieved the letter from the embassy with form D-230 to fill out.
And they are asking for the sames papers i already filled out and sent in here in the states. Why? And should you have all of those papers ready before she sends in the from to get a interview date?

QUOTE (ding @ Mar 13 2009, 05:07 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
The beneficiary needs to know where to go to get the police report and also the hospital for the medical. Review all history, names, dates, places, where each other works and lives - all info about your mutual lives could be asked about. They want to know it's a real marriage, all is disclosed, and that it's a valid relationship.

Crazy, there are married couples here that don't know that stuff about each other.

Question: The women might be able to answer this better. Me and my wife have been getting
along fine. But recently when we chat she can't stay long and has to go. Then last night when
we were chatting, i asked what she would do that day, and she got upset and said i was trying
to control her and no one owns her, and she felt like she had to give me a report.
What is all of this about?

Well i explained my reason for asking which was that i was interested in her daily life there. And we spend
about 10 minutes a day on chat, some times we miss a day or two.

But i sent her an ecard and told her that i was sorry for making her feel like i was controling her.
And that was not my intention at all. That it was from true desire to know her activities. i told her that
i love who she is and i don't want that to change, i mentioned the 5 things i love about her, and how creative
she is.
And then she sent me a ecard saying Thank you for holding on to me, and thank you for explaining.
And that she loves me for loving her.

Maybe she is having second thoughts, maybe she is feeling like she is being tied down... i dont know if she is realativly young, but she may feel like she is losing something... and it is your fault, and is therefore taking it out on you. i dont know if your married... or what.. but if you are... maybe she is feeling regrets. i have maybe asked a couple of times, but it is in the way, so will you have a busy day? Or what does your day look like?
It really took me by suprise because we have been doing well for almost two years. And yes we are married.

This process can drive anyone crazy, plus having a bad day does not help ither. I know I fly off my broomstick over innocent asked questions, and its only cause this process is mentally hard on a person and on a couple. Feeling of hopelessness set in, and worries if a marriage can hold up to all of this. Just try to be understanding, and loving as always, its probley a phase that will pass.
Best wishes.

Thanks for your input.

So my wife had her interview today at the Montreal Consulate, and everything went well until they reviewed tax returns. They said that since its tax season now, they want my 2008 tax returns. This is unfair as my tax returns are not DUE for another 2 weeks! My income was more than sufficient from 2005-2007. I'm so down. This process has taken SO long. Now have to rush my tax returns, mail them, and then sit and wait. Does anyone know what the required minimum is for a 2 person household in the U.S.? If I'm not above it, I'll need a 2nd affidavit of support. Please help...

They are also wanting to make sure you have paid your incom tax. That is what they are doing. it happened to another
couple in Vietnam. Because he had not paid the incom tax due they were denied.

Hello all, friend of mine just told me about this site, and i am currently at the part of the k-1 processing where my fiancee and I are getting the paperworks ready for an interview. Two questions i have is 1)Should we get all the required paperworks ready first before requesting an interview date, or can we request an interview date, and then get all the requirements before the interview date. 2)My income is more than likely not enough for the affidavit of support based on the 2009 poverty line, being a student. My parents has agreed to help me as my co-sponsor(s), my question is which affidavit, I-134 or I-864, do we need and who will need what?

i would get all of the needed papers ready before requesting an interview date. i am ot sure all that you need for K-1.
As far as the I-134, and I-864 they are the same really. It seems most are starting to use the I-134. And list you parents
on the form. Usually if you make i think it is $20k or more you are fine.

I saw the example form. But that seems wrong to me. Because it says information
about your alien relative. Why would i put my name there. Doesn't make sense.
If you are married to the intending immigrant, you are listed there. You are the intending immigrant's spouse are you not??

NOTE: I-130 is used for many different situations.

Examples:

Parents, then will list one parent as intending immigrant, and other parent in that section.
Siblings, List sister brother as intending immigrant, and their souse if they are married in that section.

Ok. Thank you for your help!!

QUOTE (shogimatt @ Dec 8 2008, 01:16 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi!

My wife and I have decided to use a lawyer to help us with our journey. The lawyer we're using has told me three things which have seemed strange to me:

1) He says that the I-130 approval time is 4~6 months for Japan, and so I should just go for the IR-1 and not the K-3 in order to save work and money. That time estimate doesn't include the interview following approval, right?

2) He says that I don't need any proof of a bone fide marriage until my wife goes for her interview in Japan. However, I usually see that evidence of a bone fide marriage is turned in with the I-130. Is he making a mistake?

3) I plan to move to Japan and live with my wife while we're waiting for her visa. I noticed that the IR-1 requires a residence in the US. Will living with my wife for the 6 months ~ 1 year while her visa is processing disqualify me from the IR-1 visa?

Thank you, everyone, for your help. I can't tell you how much this forum is supporting us through our nightmare.

If you are moving to Japan to wait. You should file there. You can take care of everything there. Just make sure you bring all
of your needed papaer work with you. Birth certificate, etc.

Hello all, i am new to this site and trying to find out as much information as possible before my fiance and i start the K1 visa process in June. Now, did you all go with a lawyer or have you done this process on your own? Looking over it i think i could do it alone but just wanted to get views on what to do, id really rather save the money and spend it on the visa than pay a lawyer.

To me if you are ADD and dyslexic as i am, then use a lawyer. The forms to me can be confusing on where you
put who's name. And they don't make sense. i do think it makes a difference in time. i started the beginning of March.
And was approved shortly after, and my wife will get her interview in May. i have seen others here waiting for more than a year,
and usually for many months. i used usavisanow.com, i was chgarged a total of $500. for the whole process. i am not sure if they can help you though. It can be frustrating if you you do it yourself and fill out the form incorrectly and have to do over.
i am not advertising just glad i used the lawyer from some of the stories here.
