Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)QUESTION ABOUT VACCINATION RECORDS/BIRTH CERT - ITALY

HELLO!

I am hoping someone can help me! My Italian fiance went to his town to ask for his vaccination records, and they said that they don't have him on file, and therefore don't have his vaccination records!

Where do we go from here?? Is there some other document that can be used in it's place?

Also, my fiance requested his birth certificate, but his parents' names are not on it. Should he instead request an Estratto di Nascità? If so, does it need to be authorized a certain way, or is the stamp from the Comune good enough?

THNK YOUUU!

Domy

Hi!

Estratto di nascita: your spouse have to request it in the City Hall where he was born, and you can ask the plurilingual version, it's already translated in many languages including English. I had it in few minutes. Then you have to go to the Prefettura (a Police office) for the apostille (I had it in few minutes too, but sometimes they ask you to leave the document there and to take it back the next day).

Vaccines records: his parents should have it, but if not you should ask to ASL. I hope your spouse is young, 'cause if not they don't have records on the computer...

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)QUESTION ABOUT VACCINATION RECORDS/BIRTH CERT - ITALY

Any idea if the MMR vaccine is necessary even if my husband had measles, mumps and rubella? We have a doctor's note verifying. I will probably get this translated as well.

thanks!

In Naples I overheard the doctor saying to a man that he needed the vaccine or a blood test showing that he has antibodies against the diseases. But he didn't have any certification from his doctor.

And no, you don't need a translation, doctors are Italian and the Istituto Varelli is an Italian place.

Hi everyone,

I've paid the immigrant fee after I entered in the US 'cause at the consulate in Italy noone told me anything about this fee! I paid it last week, how long does it take to receive the green card after the payment?

Thank you.

don't worry you won't have any problem.

actually my priest wrote an affidavit for showing the bona fides of our marriage saying that he believes in it 'cause we were also organizing a catholic wedding, so not only it wasn't a problem but it helped us!

I had my visa even without having joint properties/bills/accounts, I just sent some pictures, few flight tickets, an affidavit by my priest who was organizing the Catholic wedding and some screenshots showing we were talking daily on skype.

So your list seem amazing to me!

True, if the husband is abroad but still resident in the US should send the petition to Chicago. My husband was deployed in Afghanistan while we filed for my visa and we sent everything there

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestions Before Sending in the I-130

Hi. I didn't have any joint properties or account so me and my husband sent a lot of other proofs: pictures in different places even with family members and friends, many plane tickets, an affidavit of support made by my pastor saying we were also organizing the catholic wedding, some screenshots of skype that showed many video-callings (in every screenshot you could see more callings in more consecutive days, I sent a screenshot for every month), an envelope of a letter with both our names as recepients.

Hi. I wanna answer you about the attorney. First of all his suggestion sounds stupid, hiding something is never a good idea.

And Actually you don't need an attorney! I was concerned about all the documents at the beginning, so I asked to my husband to contact a lawyer. Thank God he was honest and told my husband he would have stolen money accepting our case 'cause we didn't need him.

And about translations, I remember that every document not in English must be translated, I don't know exactly about Norway 'cause is not European Community, but usually European countries issue plurilingual certificates both for birth and marriage.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow to have evidence of a bonifide marriage?

No problem.

For the apostille on civil documents I went to an italian office called "prefettura". I basically googled apostille + name of my city and I found out where I had to go, the name of the clerk who could put the apostille (only him, noone else can do it), his phone number and the time when I could go to his office. It takes few minutes for having them.

For the apostille on the criminal records certificates you just have to tell that you need them with apostille for the US when you ask for them at the tribunal, you'll have them in few days with the apostille.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow to have evidence of a bonifide marriage?

When I asked for my birth certificate, I asked if it was possible to get it in English and they said no. So I had to pay a translator for that.

So are you sure about the plurilingual-ness?

And what are apostilles?

In 1976 European countries signed a convention in Wien so civil documents can be released on a plurilingual form. Ask for it, not for an  English certificate 'cause it's not only in English.

Apostilles is a stamp that gives value to the document even outside European Union. I could tell you about how I had it in Italy but I don't know where you have to go for having it in Belgium.

 Okay, thanks!

Another question..

If we marry here, we'd have a Belgian marriage certificate of course.

That should count anywhere in the world, right?

Or do we need supporting papers, translations,.. for it?

yes you can use the Belgian marriage certificate, plus in the European Union you can ask for a plurilingual certificate (and you can do the same for your birth certificate) so that you won't have to loose time and money for translations.

you also will have to put apostilles on every Belgian certificate.

Did he file here in the United States?  I was asked by another user if I filed at an "NBC" or "local office".  Which did you use?

Not exactly, he was stationed in Fort Hood but he was deployed in Afghanistan so he filed at the USCIS in Chicago, we asked what to do and the USCIS told us to file there as if he were living abroad.

Of course I'm not suggesting to lie anyway, if they ask you have to tell the truth, but how can they know you're married to a USC (I even kept my surname 'cause in Italy women can't change it)? I don't think they usually ask about marriage, they've always asked me just why I was there, for how long and not much more.

Silvietta86FemaleItaly2013-10-17 08:25:00

You got lucky in several ways. Also you are from Italy not Thailand. We Thais suffer from the deeds of others that committed incredible fraud so we are questioned more.

The O P is from Thailand and I suggest she uses caution in her decisions. A mistake can carry a heavy price. You could have been found to be lying and that would have been very bad during that trip and in the future. You knew what you were doing was wrong.

I wasn't exactly lying, they didn't ask me anything so why I should have told them something about my life? and I was going to go back to Italy (they've always wanted to see my return flight ticket), I didn't want to immigrate without a proper visa.

He could file for a CR1 visa today so the time clock begins soon. Obtaining a C R 1 would offer you a green card soon after entry into the USA as well as other things that would prove helpful in the future.

that's more or less what we did, he filed for my visa while he was deployed and I had the CR1 after about 7 months.

Did you tell them your " family member " was a USC and your spouse?

No I didn't... They didn't ask me if I were married or stuff like that so I didn't tell them anything about him... I was so nervous both when we entered in the US after our holiday in Jamaica where we got married, and that time... But thank God they didn't ask me anything about marriage.

I was going to go back to Italy of course, but how to demonstrate it?!

Silvietta86FemaleItaly2013-10-17 08:08:00

I've been in the US with a tourist visa before my husband, a soldier of the US army, was deployed. We filed for my spouse visa only shortly after he went to Afghanistan 'cause I've stayed in Italy with my family during his deployment.

Nothing happened at the POE, they asked me where I was going and I answered I was visiting some family members (not exactly a lie 'cause we were visiting my in-laws rolleyes.gif ) and that was all.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresUSCIS Immigration fee 165$ Help!!!

Finally I could do it!

Don't ask me why and how, after I copied and pasted the number from an email from the NVC (I didn't want to print it wrong) and having the website saying the number was wrong, and after having a guy of the USCIS customer service on the phone telling me the IV case number and the DOS case ID are different numbers (one issued by the NVC the other by the consulate according to him....) finally the number was accepted and I could pay this fee...

How can all these people be so incompetent????

The interviewer at the consulate who didn't tell me about this fee, the different people I talked to at the USCIS (I called several times) who havn't been able to help me... Seriously???

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresUSCIS Immigration fee 165$ Help!!!

So that's what I thought, but it doesn't work. I tried to put the number with 3 letters and then the numbers which is also on the stamp on my passport and in every email I received, but the website says it's wrong. And actually on my stamp there's 1 more number at the end (1) that it's not in the number on every email I received!

I called the USCIS but they weren't able to help me, finally I decided to call the USCIS military help line (my husband is a soldier) and they transferred my call, but now I'm waiting for them to call me back.

I'm sooo mad that the guy who interviewed me at the consulate and who should have explained me about the fee didn't tell me anything!!!!!!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresUSCIS Immigration fee 165$ Help!!!

Hi everyone,

I found out I have to pay this fee 'cause I called the USCIS after 3 weeks of waiting for the green card in the mail, but noone at the consulate told me about it or notified my husband about it! That's crazy...

They ask for a DOS case ID but I don't have it, so I called the USCIS again and they told me it's issued by the consulate on a sheet they should have given to me but the only thing I had was the yellow envelope that I gave to the immigration officer at the POE...

Now I wrote an email to the consulate in Naples hoping they'll answer, did someone had the same problem?? How did you solve it?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresProcess questions CR1 or K3?

- if you apply for I-130 you'll enter in the US with a green card and it will takes about a year (it took 8 months for me).

- Theorically you could travel to the US, the problem is that you have to convince someone at the custom that you are going to go back to Canada, which is not easy 'cause you're asking for an immigrant visa and they know you wanna move in the US.

-My husband paid around 500$ for the visa (I don't remember exactly how much), plus I had to pay for the travel for going to the consulate for the medical examination and interview and I also paid 160? for the medical examination. Here you can find fees for every form:

http://www.uscis.gov...00045f3d6a1RCRD

-Your fiance (she wil be your wife at that point) should show that she can provide for you, she will have to fill a form and send taxes documents and that's called "affidavit of support". If she can't I think she can search for a co-sponsor but someone else will answer better than me. Check here, it's the instructions for the I-864 (affidavit of support) form http://www.uscis.gov.../i-864instr.pdf

By the way on the government website you can find all these informations :)

Hi.

I didn't have any joint properties or accounts too, but as proofs of our relationship I sent pictures, flights tickets, an affidavit made by my priest saying that we were organizing a wedding cerimony in his catholic church (if we wanted only the visa we would have just had the civil wedding right? and I understand you had something like that, another cerimony, right?), and I also printed some screenshots here and there during different months where you could see daily skype video-callings.
