IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresLondon CR1 Interview any extras to bring?

No, sorry. That's a K1 form. I think it should all go well for you. Good luck. There's reviews of London interviews and you can pick out the CR1s to read and get an idea of how it goes. In the menu bar "Reviews".

ahh okie doke :)

Yeah ive read some reviews, seems to be pretty straight forward. Now just the task of booking a hotel room in london :P lol

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresLondon CR1 Interview any extras to bring?

London isn't interested in any proofs of your relationship. Extra copies of forms/documents sent to NVC is a good idea as backup.

AP isn't about your relationship. It's about security clearance and what you put on the I-157 that might kick in checks of additional databases. Those checks take extra time. AP is mostly when the interviewee was not born in the UK, especially those born in India or Pakistan. Or if you've made frequent trips to certain middle eastern nations. Or if your name (or your parents) is the same as known terrorists. Or if you have special skills in chemistry, weapons, bombs, etc. If you're an average British born, you likely will not experience delay.

Ahh okay then thanks :) So born in UK, standard British surname, only visited America and Europe I shouldn't have any shady looking history :)

Gotcha. Im not familiar with the I-157, do I fill that in at interview?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresLondon CR1 Interview any extras to bring?
Hey guys.

So my interview is scheduled in London for July 29th and I have all the letters telling me what to bring. Basically its just my passport, but I will also bring in photo copies of the submitted paperwork+ docs just in case.

I have heard some people bring in photo's and chat history etc just in case, so is this something I should do also? Then maybe if there is a chance I'll have to go into AP.... I can have all the extra proof i need there and then. I dont have old ticket stubs, but I have proof of our joint bank account, proof we lived together for 4 years whilst i was in USA on my F1, And our wedding album, plus other photos throughout the 5 years thus far.

So yeah. Let me know what you think, and anyone that has had a recent CR1 interview, were you asked for any of this? Im trying to be fully prepared.

Also just to add. I called the premium rate number to ask about a new date, and he gave me an email code and I emailed it, but didn't receive an automated reply. This was sent Saturday at 3pm. So called back Tuesday and he told me i shouldn't have received at automated reply anyway, and to give it 5 days, then if i hear nothing to call back. Lots of expensive calls, so hopefully I get an email back soon!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCan't submit i-864 until IV bill has been paid.

Maybe some people get RFE's while some don't for doing the exact same thing... Luck of the draw I guess :)

Yeah possibly. Who knows :P

I was sure we'd get an RFE for our I-864 stuff i was worried about the tax return, so I was overjoyed when it was accepted so quickly heh :)
britishspouseFemaleEngland2011-06-19 17:21:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCan't submit i-864 until IV bill has been paid.

It doesn't say you cannot send it. What is does say is that they will not process anything unless BOTH bills are paid. "The NVC has received the requested Affidavit of Support (I-864). However, we are still waiting for the
Immigrant Visa fee..." Without bills first showing as "paid" you cant proceed anyways... So I guess in a round about sort of way they are saying that you can't send the AOS package without paying the IV bill first.

My husband and I were under the impression that the i-864 and the IV packets were two separate things. We paid our i-864 fee 2 weeks ago and sent the AOS packet before the IV bill was available thinking that it was okay, that both packages would be investigated separately. It appears that this is not the case as we got this letter yesterday.

I am not trying to cause any trouble and I guess at the end of the day this isn't a huge deal... I just wanted to mention what has happened to us so others don't get delays in their cases as we will for not doing it correctly.

I am not a lawyer, but if I could do this over, I would pay BOTH bills at the same time and then send the packages at the same time. This is really all I wanted to say.

Thanks for reading. :)

Hmm interesting. Maybe they changed it. Because our I-864 Package was reviewed and accepted before we even paid the IV bill, or according to the NVC call people it was.

Granted#, When we sent ours in, in May, we never got this email, so perhaps it is a very new change? It shocked me how quickly they said the I-864 Packet was accepted, because it took them longer doing our DS-230 one, It was actually sat in a pile for about 5 days i think lol.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCan't submit i-864 until IV bill has been paid.

To the best of my knowledge it is not true if paid electronically. We paid them separately about a week apart and there have been no problems.

We paid them at different times too. We were alerted when our AOS fee was due, and the IV fee was not even generated for at least another week.

We were told to pay AOS then send I-864 docs and wait for IV bill to be generated. We have had no holdups either, apart form the fact the payment portal was not actually accepting IV payments for 3 days, but they fixed the problem and we could pay :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresE-mail/address to complain about embassy e-mailing/premum number
Okay so here is the general idea of my frustrations;

We are getting a CR1 visa, And I wanted to see if there was any way my interview date could be moved a week earlier, cant hurt to try right? So I called the expensive number, the guy gave me a code, and told me to e-mail LondonIV@state.gov which I did within the allotted time. Waited 4 days... no reply, no automated reply. After hearing other people who have e-mailed they always get n automated reply.

So I called the number again and told the guy this, and he told me Not to expect an automated reply, and to wait 2 more days then call back if I heard nothing. Well no reply... so I recently called back again. The guy I spoke with this time said that he didn't know what had happened, there was no way he could check the status of my email.

Its just really annoying. Im OK with keeping the date if i have to, but i just wanted to check for an earlier one as FIL Is due for surgery. Yet all this money spent on calls is stupid, if nobody is even going to answer my emails or give me an idea of why I haven't got a reply.

I had heard about another email address with consulate in? So asked the guy if I should try that one, to which he told me no, yet ive heard other people e-mailing it. So thats confusing.

Anyway. I dont normally complain but its just annoying. I want to talk to someone just to hear a yes/no but have already probably spent close to 15 pounds on calls, and have achieved nothing :(

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCase complete at NVC?.

"Sign In Failed." After receiving a minor set back in the form of an RFE last week, I thought my case had finally passed the NVC hurdle.

When I tried calling NVC to get the appointment date, though, they said that they are in the process of final review. I understood from everyone here that "Sign In Failed" was the indicator that NVC was complete. Was the operator I spoke with not up to speed, or is there more in the final review process at NVC that has to be completed?

Before the RFE, it seemed we were on target for a July interview. Is a July interview still a possibility?

thanks,

I had case complete one day after sign in failed :)

Mine was june 10th and my interview was set for july 29th. Im guessing London is busy hence the late date, but yours may have some earlier ones available :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion About I-864EZ and Joint Sponsor

From http://travel.state..../info_3201.html :

"Verify that you are claiming only your own employment to meet the affidavit of support requirements."

So, because you need a sponsor, you don't qualify for the I-864EZ. You're going to have to file an I-864 instead.

Yep just to add another reply, you cant file teh I-864EZ :( We were able to, as needed no joint sponsor, if you have a joint you will need I-864 and additional of I-864a if its household member :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresdocuments and fees

Hi everyone,

I am trying to get organized for the next stage of paperwork.

I know I need DS-230 for myself and my son, police certificate for myself. The OH needs to send the I-864 and 3 years tax returns or W2 and a few recent pay check stubs.

Is there anything else that needs to be sent?

What fees need to be paid?

My OH is the petitioner, myself and my son are the beneficiary's. It is the CR1 and CR2.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just an FYI. You dont NEED 3 years tax info, one is sufficient, there is a little box you tick if you are submitting 3 years, its optional :)

We opted to only submit the most recent years, because I thought.... less documents, less possible questions they could ask so perhaps less chnace for an RFE if something didn't add up :)In the end we had no issues and it was accepted quickly :) We did send in last 6 months pay stubs too :)

At the moment I think their e-mails are a bit backlogged. It took them 1.5 weeks to reply to my first email (with daily code in subject line), and then another 5 days for them to reply to my reply. Granted this was different embassy, but yours may have a backlog of emails too.

So give it time :)

thats pretty much what i already know... my question is where are all these extra documents required? when do i give them the police records, how? you say ds-230 "packet"... all i see online for the ds-230 is about 3 or 4 pages of stuff to fill out and sign... is it like the I-130 where you send additional stuff in with it, for example? if so why dont any of these "nvc fast track" guides tell you what's needed to send in with these packets? lol

Not sure what you mean by 'where' ... You will be sent an email to pay a fee. After you have paid it it will give you instructions of what to send, and tell you what to send. Then you get another bill, requesting the rest of the documents :)

Are you going through the montreal embassy? If so here is the link telling you about your medical http://travel.state....L-0005-1103.pdf

I believe you only fill in the ds-260 IF instructed to do so, its for those who did electronic processing i think?

first you pay the AOS fee .... and then shall be instructed to submit your I-864 documents (I-864 form/forms, and pay stubs, tax documents)

Then you pay the IV fee .... and submit the DS-230 packet...this contains the police report (be sure to photocopy it, you'll need to take a copy to the medical) passport bio page, birth cert, marriage cert and passport photos

You can book your medical anytime from now, check to see where the approved facility is.

After that providing you have no RFE's you will have case complete

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhat to do

I've never understood why so many people suggest the DCF route to petitioners who don't already live abroad. It's as silly as an unmarried petitioner asking whether it will be faster to bring their fiance, they've already met within two years as a fiance or spouse. It's as if these folks are incapable of factoring in the time to move and stay or plan another trip for marriage. Think it through, folks.

Looks like they are also stopping the DCF route in some countries link here makes sense I think. Just have it all done one way :)

if Indonesia participates in the '2nd week of the month appointment scheduling' then I'm afraid you've missed it.

See, it's 'case complete' then 'final review' then the casefile is put into the scheduling queue.

IF it made it into the queue prior to the 2nd week in June, you'd be IN the queue for scheduling.

Suggest yer USCitizen husband call NVC back, ask when the final review was completed, ask about the appointment scheduling queue.

I had case complete the same day, and my interview was booked for july 29th at UK embassy.

Have you tried tracking your package from US to your local embassy? Mine reached london on the 13th.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR1 visa - possible to get previous flight info?

I haven't heard anybody say they they were sent away for a purse. He wasn't there, so maybe he misunderstood. I went to my husband's interview with him. It was after they started all the stricter rules and the Gould's Pharmacy thing for leaving electricals. My handbag was was about 12x14x4 inches and stuffed full. It's my travel purse with many flaps and zippy sections. All the ladies had purses. People have taken in even small backpacks. Just check your phone at Gould's and anything like an MP3 player, headphones, jump drive, car key fob. Your purse will ride through the x-ray machine. If you wear a watch, it can be put in your purse to go through security, then you can put it back on. That's what they told me to do. They went down the line giving men plastic bags to empty their pockets and watches into for riding through the x-ray. Women can keep everything in their purse. I even saw cigarette lighters going through in the plastic bags.

It doesn't matter so much when your appointment is. People will start lining up before 7:30. If you didn't get in the door until 9:05, it wouldn't matter. If a guy with a 10:30 appointment got in line at 7:30, he would be called before you. They go in order of the ticket number sticker you get at the reception desk. The first in line gets the first interview, but the non-immigrant numbers are called much more frequently. I guess they have more people assigned to working with them since there are way more of them each day. When you see how many people are in that big room, you'll understand how busy the embassy is every day.

Have you watched this video? It's geared toward visitor or work visas because the example questions are different than you will be asked. But the lines, security booth, number stickers, windows, and courier desk are EXACTLY what you will do. Notice the size of the purses the ladies in line are carrying (in case you don't believe me.) :) http://www.youtube.c.../34/uzZOvF1EEXE

thanks again. VERY helpful :)

Yeah the video reminds me of when I went there for mt F1 visa. It was just so long ago i cant remember what I took in but im sure I did take a handbag. I'll probably take a similar thing, a small travel purse just enough for my cards, ID , Passport and of course some lippy lol.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR1 visa - possible to get previous flight info?

Well I've been reading London for 3+ years and everybody is going to do it "just in case" but it isn't something they care about. Here's a post of a recent interview where he specifically mentions the extra evidence he brought.

http://www.visajourn...35#entry4673835

There was a funny review a couple of years ago where the woman insisted he look at her scrapbook because she spent so much time making it. They just don't have time. The actual interview is about 3-5 minutes. And with the CR1 there is even less to look at because all your documents went to NVC and I supposed checked out there first. If the petition got approved by USCIS, then they figure they relationship was already proven during that step.

Thankyou VERY much for that link, very informative and thorough, and i learnt a thing or two. I didnt know you could take NO purses in, I thought it was just no large ones. So all your allowed in is perhaps a document folder then? I never wear stuff with pockets so shall have to put my debit and credit card somewhere, maybe taped inside the folder or something?

Also in that they stated arrive no more than 30 mins, but ive heard people lately getting in 1 - 1.5 hour early and getting seen right at their designated time. I have a 9AM appointment too, and planned on queuing about 7:45, but may rethink if i wont be allowed in till 8?

I do really appreciate the info though.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR1 visa - possible to get previous flight info?
Hey guys,

So I have my CR1 Interview in 18 days and im just working on getting a few bits together. I have some photo's skype logs etc but can only find my last 2 flight stubs. In the 5 years we have been together I must have thrown away the others and i dont have teh confirmations emails anymore.

So my question is does anyone know whether you can call an airline and have them look you up by your passport number or something? Because I always forget my FF number, i have made about 4 with every airline so cant look it up from one sole number.

I know often London doesnt ask for these anyway but I want to go as prepared as possible, so if this is something I could get id like to. I have tried calling the two main airlines i fly with but one said 49 minute wait, and would be too pricey to wait that long, the other hung up on me as soon as the agent picked up lol. I shall try see if i can find an email contact, but just though id ask whether anyone else had been successful at getting them to sed you a copy of all teh times you have flown in the past? or if they even keep these records lol.

so our estimate for our NOA2 for CR-1 is beginning of September, lets just say it all goes smoothly and we get it say, around 2nd week in September, can we say or get our hopes up to be home in time for Christmas? we have 2 small kids any my hubby has missed so much, any hope is worth clinging to at this point, we are filing through cali an it will go to London Uk after NVC

To give you an idea of our recent timelines... we had NOA2 april 27th... We had CC june 9th... and interview set for july 25th. So if yours goes similar it may be exactly 3 months from NOA2 to interview, so it might be close for christmas but still possible.

Also though summer is the busiest times for most embassies, so when you have NOA2 it should be a bit quieter, and perhaps less waiting for your interview :)

I have seen them too. I am not here to say it's right or wrong from them to be granted it, but it does happen. The majority of the time I bet it does get denied.

I myself will try to see if a well written letter will be able to get me a early Interview date when the time comes. I will just be asking nicely and not stating any hardships or anything of that nature as my current situation is fine.

You never know, asking and getting a denial is better than not asking at all...

Yeah indeed. I was given at interview date of july 29th (assigned on june 11th), and mentioned my FIL's surgery july 22nd in an email, they re-arranged my interview for the 25th july, so I will still miss it, and be worrying like crazy that i cant be there to support hubby and them, but hey 4 days is better than nothing lol. I was simply polite, mentiond my interest to push it sooner and they replied with the date of the 25th.

Pregnancy, birth of your children, depression are not legit excuses. It needs to be life threatening or life changing.

Immigration is a privilege, not a right.

With respect that is not always the case. I have seen at least 3 cases here recently where people were grated expedites based on non life threatening scenarios and non emergent situations. I don't want to name names or make people feel bad, because im happy they got them, but it annoys me that they did.

It all depends and is assessed case by case. Sometimes a well written letter from a superior or well to do person is enough to grant expedite, then someone requesting it for an actual good reason with proof is denied an expedite so it all just depends on the day and the officer granting it i believe.

Its just the way it is. all we can do it get over it and keep on waiting life everyone else :(
