You intend to stay permanently. I would write "K1 permanently".

Only Chinese names need Chinese characters and Pinyin. Non-Chinese names are written with normal Roman characters or "in English" if you will.

You do write your fiance's name in English. If he has any children, brothers or sisters, list them where asked.

The I-134 is sent Fed Ex I know they wont overnight due to customs but its on its way...Hopefully someone can answer is the I-134 needed for the medical exam? It isn't needed for the medical but many do the medical and interview on the same trip to Guangzhou. In that case, she needs everything before she leaves for GUZ.

The instructions for the I-134 only require the following unless you are self employed: The completed and notarized I-134; the letter from the bank with the date opened, account balance, deposit total for past year; letter from employer with salary, date and nature of employment, whether employment is temp or permanent. You also must include info on bonds if you have any. Self employed is different.

The I-134 is submitted with the OF-169 as part of package 3.

Red folder and Yellow folder

Hi VJ,

i have one question. During my interview for today, i noticed there are 2 colors for the file folder. AFter you presented your docs in the seal package, the staff looked at them, asked you signed, and put docs into a folder.
My folder is in RED, as well as another K1 interviewee. So i asked her do u know the meaning? The answer was NO. She said maybe it is just common, no meaning. But i am sure there is meaning. So i thought is that means RED FLAG? Hahaha. So i asked her what is her age gap with her fiance? She said 6 years older, he is working as a Government officer.

does anybody know the meaning or difference between RED folder and YELLOW folder?

Anyways, i got the 3rd packages a little less than 2 months. So just be patient. Waiting for 2 months already was sooner than i projected.

For Guangzhou you will be fine... they rarely make it in the 4 mos. time frame

This is a non-issue as the Consular officer will simply extend the validity as needed.

You don't need to worry about it right now. GZ will never finished the case in 4 months (my approval valid date was from Feb to June, but my interview as last July 10).
What your fiancee will need to do is when she enter custom E.G in Detroit, she will wait for the line as visitors. The custom officer will checked her seal package, if they saw the date is over the date showed on the Approval Letter, she will be transferred to a special process line, they will handle her there.

So it will cause her to miss the flight connection of course, mostly i should say, not 100%. But you can catch the next flight without paying extra cost.

NO, you can not try to avoid any interview officers. It is luck, because they will call your name at random depends on which officers finished first until everyone was interviewed.

mine is over two weeks now n i havent heard anything either . i called customer service and they told me to wait 30 days before they can do anything abt it. i dont know wats going on.

I was sitting down just right in front of the 6th female window. From what i observed, the 6th window is most difficult interview to pass the interview; special comparing to the Window 7. My god, everyone passed in window 7 and quickly. We interviews of course including me pray and pray pls don't let Window 6 interview me; but,,,,,. Let me tell you the result for window 6 until my turn, 1st one is rejected; 2nd pink slip; 3rd one blue slip; my turn is pink slip.

Where is the petitioner, in US OR in CHINA? And where is the beneficiary in US OR in CHINA?
If the beneficiary were in China, (chinese applied for USA VISA), of course you have to go to China Post Office to send back the forms, and you also have to get or pay 1 rmb to buy an extra EMS label, and write down your address as recipients, and NVC address showed on instruction as sender. because this extra EMS label is for NVC will send you the 4th package, which means interview package.

Eileenho, what do you mean by "Completed OF-169"? As I know OF-169 is just an instruction or checklist, not a form. Did you just send the OF-169 itself with docs marked? Or you were required to send in all actual docs listed on OF-169?

My meaning is you also have to send OF 169 froms to NVC.
you have to mark what docs you will have to interview. You can see there is a blank box for you to mark in the front of every item. And as i remebered OF 169, one copy is english version, another version is Chinese version. You have to mark on both of them, and on the last package it requests you to put CASE NUMBER, PASSPORT NUMBER, DATE OF BIRTH, SIGNAUTRE etc info.

pls remeber, don't send any actual docs you marked on OF 169, otherwise NVC will destory them.

for you visa photo ID, no need to send.

Thanks eileenho. Yes, I received Packet 3 from NVC asking me to submit DS-230. An OF-169 from Guangzhou is also included. The instruction from NVC does not list 2 passport photos at all. But on OF-169 the 2 passport photos are among the docs that need to be brought to interview by the beneficiary.

So based on your experience, please confirm that I ONLY need to send the following docs to send to NVC along with DS-230:
1. Completed DS-230, Part I
2. Copy of biographic data page from beneficiary's passport
3. EMS label from China Post Office
4. Packet 3 Supplemental Information Sheet ( http://travel.state....3-0001-0801.pdf ).

#4 maybe the new requirement from Guangzhou. And we need to collect all docs listed on OF-169 for the interview.

I am from China, i went over your process. But i didn't see the instruction about sending 2 visa photo ID to NVC. Have you gotten the 3rd package yet? What i did in April 2008, i just finished form DS-230 PART 1 and OF 169 (mark the docs you will have for interview, but don't send any other docs to NVC otherwise they will destory them, then you will have to prepared again), and a empty EMS mail envelop with Addressed required.
Pls read the instruction very carefully.

OP asked about the POE stamp to work. which they are suppose to give. our experience was smooth sailing with the temporary stamp. if it is not offered, ask for it!

one can get a stamp at POE in passport that allows one to work....which my husband received in cinncinati when he came in on a K1. EAD then arrived 3 months later in the mail

Cincinnati gives the temp EAD stamp?

husband entered 9/04 rec'd temparory employment stamp. applied for SS. got married 10/04, found a job 11/04, EAD card arrived 12/04...been working ever since. no break in employment...job was secured on temporary stamp

i'm not sure why everyone is thinking this is a hassle. it is quite basic..

We're Approved

Just got our Visa approved in Brazil today!! The fiancee said the interview was pretty easy. A few questions about our relationship, they wanted to see a picture of us together and since she brought the entire engagement album that was easy. Overall only had to wait 30 minutes for the interview and it was over in 10 minutes.

The one thing that threw us a little was the timing of the interview. We were waiting to hear back from the the embassy after we sent in the packet 3 and it took them 3 weeks to get back to us. Then when we received a letter from them last Monday they said the interview was this Monday which made us scramble for a plane ticket and hotel on short notice. We were thinking the interview would be one month after their letter but I guess not. Not too upset about the timing as the sooner we can get this done the better, just wish the embassy would communicate better with us.

My finance just received her packet 3. We are very excited and I am surprised that we got it so quick, I figured it would be another couple of weeks as we got our NOA2 on 9/17 and the US consulate received our petition on the 24th. Hopefully we can get the packet 3 out to the government in a week or two (she still needs her updated passport which she will get next week). Can't wait till we can schedule the interview. Has anyone run into any problems with packet three and gathering the documents needed, medical exam, etc... Also, what is the typical wait time for an interview from the time packet 3 gets sent to them, 30 days? I know it varies by country, just looking for a ballpark number though. I received a letter about a week ago dated on 9/24 that gave me the case number and INS Receipt Number and they said the petition would be forwarded to the appropriate visa-issuing post where the visa interview will take place (i.e. Rio de Janiero, Brazil). Don't know if Brazil has received it yet.
