ok, well... I am just wondering why nobody is updating their timeline on VJ anymore? unsure.gif This website really provides some really nice tools that are already available. But if people blow it off it's not really useful, is it? A database is only as good as the data you put in... wink.gif
Try this one: http://www.visajourn...p5=5,9,10,11,12 and timeline.gif

I've been trying to update/edit my timeline to reflect Richard's bio date but can't figure out how to do it..could someone please helpsmilie.gif

thanks

Any thoughts on this? The thread is getting so long that I created a database of the data. Everyone can edit, add and delete.

Service Centers Application Status

Maybe the link will get lost as people keep replying, which is OK, I'll just use it myself. wink.gif

I love it...but if we're (read you whistling.gif ) are doing a new database can we add a column for local office (please). It would be helpful when we see folks who filed at the same service center that are whizzing by us (especially for biometrics).

No need to talk to anyone... if you read the last paragraph of your NOA.....

"Upon receipt of your ASC appointment notice, you can find the status of your case on-line........."

Thank you, but this is not the answer I was expecting. I want to find if there is a possibility to speak to somebody on the phone when the case number is not accepted. If yes, how??? Thank you!

I think you don't understand. Spiderette gave you the same answer you would get IF you could EVER reach a human at the USCIS and the same answer I am going to give you (like it or not) . The number on your NOA1 is NOT the number you track your case with. The number you get when you receive your boimetrics appointment is the number.
Many of us (me included blush.gif ) have faced this same issue and when the biometics letter arrived that number worked just fine.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHow did you send Form and Docs?
QUOTE (Chad209 @ Jul 21 2008, 06:49 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I got everything I need together to send off for the I-751 but wondering how you all sent it in.

Im thinking of just putting it all together in a priority mail envelope and send it in that way with coversheet on top.

Is that cool? Or did you guys put in clear folder sheets or?

Thanks

I organized them by purpose (taxes, bank statements, insurance etc) and used the dividers in between sections. I punched holes in the top and used an Acco fastener to secure it: .

I sprung for USPS express mail but you can save a few bucks with Priority as long as you get signature or delivery confirmation (with already comes with Express Mail).

BTW...I'm just a little ####### whistling.gif blush.gif blink.gif (but must qualify that I work for the government and have reviewed many applications. Well organized applications are ALWAYS appreciated !

good luck.

Just an update with info received from service center via congressman's office: as soon as orders are in, filing straight for N-400 only.

Thank you for all of your input, I have my answer now.

Really? You get to skip removal of conditions? If so, that is awesome.

However, since the instructions don't seem to mention any of this, I'd advise you to double check that. I know the advice was from a congressman and all, but I'm kinda curious that they let you skip the removal of conditions.

No, the reply was from the service center - congressman's office forwarded my question (which was I-751 and N-400 at the same time or direct to N400) and they said N400 only.

Please do not take this as a smart a$$ answer but I hope you got the answer in writing. This comment comes from a government employees that KNOWS that the information govt employees give is not always 100%...this is not intentional ..often they don't know and just answer. I'm not going to go into a debate about lazy government employees not doing research, but unless you have that in writing, I would double check and not take the answer for granted.

It's already in writing (See page 20 - 21 of the Naturalization Guide)

I'm not going to go into a debate about lazy government employees not doing research, but unless you have that in writing, I would double check and not take the answer for granted.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionGreen card in wallet
QUOTE (Homer742 @ Aug 1 2008, 01:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi, I was wondering if there is a need to bring the extension letter along with your "expired" green card (under process) where ever you go. Also do permanent residents have to bring their green card wherever? Isn't having a driver's license in your wallet enough? I've been wondering about this since becoming a permanent resident 2 years ago. Isn't it better to keep your green card at home in case you lose your wallet?

Hubby does not carry his GC in his wallet. He has a valid D/L. We decided we were willing to take the risk of him not carrying VS losing. The GC & extension letter (along with passports and other difficult to replace docs) are kept in a fireproof box, in the house.
We also don't live near a border.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHow important are photos for this stage?
QUOTE (usuklove @ Aug 12 2008, 10:20 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi, when we filed for the K1 visa we had plenty of photos from our visits together. When we filed for AOS we had plenty of photos from the wedding. Since then, we haven't really done a whole lot that we would take photos together for. So, if we didn't submit any photos, or only submitted a few, would that be a mojour problem?

Thanks.

We submitted NO photos with our application. Hubby is a photographer and always behind the camera. I HATE having my photo taken. We did not realize until the time came that we had no photos. For us, we don't think it will be an issue. Our financials are strong.. house jointly deeded, joint tax returns, years worth of joint bank statements from two banks + joint medical and other stuff. That said...since we submitted the application (and realized we had no photos) we have made an effort to have photos taken together (in case of an RFE)..

My personal opinion is photos are not worth much..it's easy to get two people who are scammers to pose for photos but odds are the same couple are not co-mingling their finances to any serious degree (house deeds etc).
How the government looks at it, is anyone's guess!

Alright guys, as you can see on my timeline, I mailed my package for I-751 on August 14, 2008.
It arrived in Laguna Niguel, California post office on August 16, 2008. I mailed it by priority mail
and with delivery confirmation.

I checked that delivery confirmation number online and on the phone. It still says that it has arrived on
the post office in California on August 16, 2008 and is still scheduled for delivery.

It's been 8 days already but still the USCIS in California still havent got it yet.
What the heck is taking it so long. My greencard expires on Sept. 12, 2008.

I already called the toll free number for the usps. They said someone will call me back but they never did.

Does anyone here knows the number of the post office in Laguna Niguel in California?
Im worried that the post office might lost or misplaced my documents. My greencard expiration date
is really fast approaching.

Help guys!

OK. So we've made it this far without any RFEs. But his pisses me off.

We sent:

3 years of tax returns
Joint leases throughout our marraige
title and morgtage papers saying we bought a house together.
8 months of current utility bills
joint car insurance bills for 2.5 years
proof we are both certified to be foster parents
proof we are both members of our church

We do NOT have joint checking accounts.

So what more...besides affidavents from others (can I use friends and family?) do they want?

I'm pregnant...which really doesn't prove anything since the baby isn't born yet. But should I include that evidence as well. What else can I possibly send them.

If you just sent copies of your tax returns, send the IRS transcripts of the you tax returns with your new package.

One of the things Im worry about is that we amend the taxes and then they might look at the date feeling like the only reason we did was because they sent the letter because it will have preparation date after the letter was sent, does the date on information matter, like for instance I did call my light bill company they stated they only use one person name per account thats FPL for you but even if they were able to do it wouldn't it be suspicious that he was added after we received the letter from immigration ... does anything new (credit card, change of address on drives license, etc) after date letter was received may look suspicious.

Thanks for the feedback

The taxes aside. I hate to be the one to ask this but why do they have to be changed to reflect the same address. Is there more to the story than you are not telling ? BUT to answer your question YES if your d/l, credit card statements etc were both at the same address (and you change them now) it will look suspicious....like you don't live together.

Don't you have the following:

driver license showing same address
picture/boarding pass or tickets from vacation together
letter from other people (invitation, etc) addressed to both of you

As for the tax, I would recommend having ammended return too.

Good luck

I'll add on the tax situation..if you filed married filing sep. for financial reasons and are not going to file an ammended return, I would send both returns in showing they were filed with the same address and an explanation that you did better (financially) filing that way...I think if you send in your info at this point (after 4/15) and don't address the tax return issue at all, it may look odd. I don't think they expect you to file jointly and lose money, but they expect your return to have the same address.

QUOTE (K&T @ May 20 2008, 05:30 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Last year march 2007 I filed for removal of condition, I sent the one joint credit card statements we had, joint tax return for 2005, 2006, went had a joint bank account together but several months before filing my husband, went on shopping frenzy and overdraft the account which I sent (maybe I should have) overdraft bank information also sent in..... I also had two affidavits from my aunt and our close friend at time that all we had.... after waiting several months for a response I got a letter stating the documentation submitted was insufficient. Immigration stated they need certain info in order to process application...... I so far I have my apartment rental lease with both names, 2 credit cards with both names, letters from my life insurance company showing my husband and my mother as beneficiary, affidavit from my best friend who live with us during 2006-2007, we don’t have a joint bank account, our light bill was opened in my name (I guess at time I was not thinking) (should I send it still?) the rest of our bills like water and cable are included in the rent, I have a individual bank account, he has is own also, and we like I explained earlier had a joint account, my husband is not good with money so I am really the one that handles all the bills, my husband only get personal and junk mail, we are young couple we really don’t have much more, I am also planning and getting a affidavit from my uncle who we lived with for several months under his roof to save up some money for this current apartment .... other than what I stated we really don’t have much more or any thing else major I can think of to send in please help us if you can what you think maybe able to sent this time around this whole process is very stressful

Major things we don’t have:
No joint saving or checking account
No joint installment or other loan (we have an old 97 sentra giving to me as a gift by my uncle)
We did not file together for 2007 my (husband was out of town for several months)
No joint health insurance my company policy price sky rocketed to the roof they advised us themselves in a meeting due to claims prices for couple went up so it was best or cheaper we got individual policy from prospective jobs

Please give us your best advice will be sending papers in within a few days

Thanks

K&T

It appears from what you wrote that you did not send your apartment lease in with your orginial package. I would imagine sending that would be important. The affidavits should also help. I know folks here have sent photos of their life together (vacation, holidays, events etc) and letters/cards addressed to them jointly.

The one thing in your posting that confused me was that you did not file together because "husband was out of town for several months" as far as I know you still could have filed as married under those circumstances. You want to file an ammended return. BTW there are husband and wifes that maintain seperate residences (for years) and still file married.

If I’ll send it thru post office do I have to send registered mail or just ordinary mail with delivery confirmation ? I need advice please.

Thank you.

We sent ours USPS Express (post office) it includes tracking and overnight delivery. For overnight it's more cost effective than FedEx. You can track it online... If you are looking to save some $$ USPS Priority with delivery or signature confirmation would be good too.

I have checked case status on CIS web and could not believe it....CARD PRODUCTION ORDERED
So, it took over 10months at VSC.
For those who are preparing I-751 package, we have included:
Fed Tax for 2 years (just copies, even forgot to sign; but with all schedules);
Bank statements (total 3 or 4; from 2 banks since we moved and changed bank, spaning from begining of marriage till month of sending I-751);
Copies of credit cards in 2 names;
Costco cards;
Family cell phone plan statement;
Many utility bills -one name on each but for 2 SAME addresses and spaning the whole marriage;
401K doc;
old and new W2 for hubby-it shows single status on old and married on new-so, coworkers knew about marriage;
card with many signatures from my work-says Happy wedding!
Mortgage statement;
House buying contract signed by two;
Xmass card envelope from hubby's family (for both, post stamp shows that it was sent out of state)
Pictures (wedding, with hubby family, with my family, on vacation, at home-total about 10-12 spaning from dating till last month).
No affidevits-were told by lawyer that it is a weakest evidence and we have good package, so we dont need it.
Hope it helps.

We are a month behind you and if everything lines up right..Richard will have his new GC before our Decembee vacation, so we don't have to deal with travelling with the expired GC & the letter.

Those of you who haven't had problems at the POE should count yourselves lucky!! My British husband has never entered this country, even with his valid greencard, without some sort of hassle. I'm so fed up I could scream. We are applying for naturalization as soon as he is eligible in June so we don't have to put with this immigration ####### anymore.

We've only made one trip since my British hubby has has his green card and on the way back from vacation last year (POE - Newark) he was hassled in line by the immigration officer, for what appeared to be no good reason. He had a valid unexpired g/c and was asked to recite the last four numbers of his SSN (off the top of his head). That's great for those of use that use of SSNs on a daily basis and have for years...but it put Richard on the spot. The officer could see it made Richard nervous and then continued to grill him. We had been in the Caribbean for a whole seven day, for pete's sake. He let up when he saw the line was getting really long behind us and he had already had his fun for the evening.

I'm hoping for the 10 year card to arrive before our repeat trip in December. I have taken the precausion of booking a direct flight to avoid any delays, in case he still has to use the expired card and the "letter." He is also applying for Naturalization to avoid these issues in the future and he wants to vote.

1- Personal check for $465 for fee and 1 personal check for $80 for biometrics
1- Completed I-751 signed by my wife (permanent resident) and me (USC).
1- Copy (front and back) of her current Green Card
2- Passport photos of my wife
1- Copy of our son's birth certificate
1- Copy (front and back) of both my wife's and my driver's licenses showing we live at the same address
1- Copy of deed to our house showing us both as owners
1- Copy of our most recent investment statement showing us both on the account and addressed to both of us
1- Copy of our most recent bank statement showing us both on the account and addressed to both of us
1- Copy of our most recent mortgage statement showing us both on the account and addressed to both of us
1- Copy of our most recent homeowner's insurance policy showing us both as insureds.
1- Original invite to our wedding ceremony last year (legally married in '05, had ceremony in '07)
3- Photos of us and our son at our wedding ceremony last year
1- Copy of our marriage license
1- Copy of my wife's SS card
1- Copy of my wife's passport photo/info page and 1 copy of the page showing a trip she took to China last year, which is not her country of citizenship. <<< (Not sure if this is necessary, thought I read somewhere that we needed to include documentation of any trips made outside the US since obtaining permanent resident status.)

If anyone knows/thinks I'm missing something, or has any suggestions, please let me know asap.

Thanks,

Aside from the tax transcripts already mentioned, I would add a joint bank statement from earlier in the marriage. We included one for each year we had each account. They are looking to see that you did not just open the account for purposes of the I 751 filing.

Yes, you need to supply evidence over the whole period of your marriage, not just one year.

The minimalist approach seems to be:

One bill in joint name for every 6 months
One bank statement in joint name per 6 months
Tax return for each year (so 2-3 depending on time for AOS)
Car, Health or other insurance in both names
joint lease or joint mortgage or joint property deed (if possible)

as well as the other evidence you sent.

Affidavits and Photos are not necessary.

If it cost less than a dollar to send, then it may not be enough blink.gif

Thanks for the reply... I did not pay too much attention when I was doing the package...argghh I should have...

but I think I'm gonna wait to get a RFE to send more evidences because if I do it now then if they ask for more, i will not have anymore evidences to send...

I do not have any joint lease (we lived with my parents during the 1st year) and now we live in a house that we have to fix and in exchange we have free rent til March...

Hi guys,

I just got the NOA and it says: " If you have not already done so, provide supporting documents to assist USCIS in processing your petition and to establish eligibility to remove the conditional basis of your permanent residence...:

- Lease of joint tenancy or joint ownership of assets
- Joint mortgage agreement and/or property deed
- Tax returns
- Birth certificates of any child born from the marriage
- Joint policies of life, medical and/ or car insurance "

Here is my list of evidences that I sent along with my petition:
- Copy of Marriage Certificate
- Copy of Green Card (back and front)
- Copy of Bank Account Statement
- Copy of Tax return 2007
- Copy of electricity bill and internet bill
- Copy of car insurance policy
- Some pictures

We don't have any children, health insurance and lease.
Should I send more bank account statements (for any month of 2006 and 2007) and the tax return 2006 since I only sent the bank account statement of September and the tax return 2007?
OR
Should I wait until I get a RFE?

Thanks- your help will be very appreciated!!

sending tax returns/bank statements for both 2006 & 2007 would have been better. I'm no expert but I would wait and just be prepared for an RFE ...maybe get the 2006 and 2007 tax transcripts from the IRS and have the bank statements ready. That said we did not submit any affidavits or photos and were approved without an RFE..but we did have multiple year financial documents and a joint deed to our house. I did not see evidence for a deed or lease in the evidence you sent.

I would submit an explantion but also submit other documentation, possibly copies of the credit card bills. If you did not submit transcrips of your tax returns I would do that as well as utility bills that span your marriage.
In your case I would submit affidavits from friends, if you did not in your initial submission.

EVERYONE !!!! Not only for your good wishes but again for all your assistance. The Green Card is for hubby (Richard) who just is happy to let me complile the paperwork and then just sign his name. I guess being a career bureaucrat helps, both with the paperwork and the patience. I’ve been on the other side of the fence.
I am just happy that (hopefully) the new card will arrive before we leave for our December Caribbean vacation and yes when we return home it’s on to Naturalization . Again good luck to everyone waiting and may their journey move swiftly.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionGood News Online this Morning !!!!
I had stopped checking status online for quite sometime. But when some of the November/ December folks began to get approved I became obsessed (once again) checking at least once a day (often more). This morning I logged on expecting the same old same old but got a really pleasant surprise:

A touch does not necessarily mean you can expect an imminent approval. My application was submitted February 28. The file was touched after my biometrics in April and then, inexplicably, touched again September 10. I am still waiting and I have had no further touches. I suspect they might have been matching up the returned security check to my file.

and ours was never touched at all until the actual approval.
