I read somewhere on this forum that Excess Baggage Company is an affordable option. I checked it out and they'll do door-to-door from Germany to USA, but I haven't done a full quote yet since we're not done figuring out what we'll keep and what we'll sell here.

Yes, tue ... thats how it starts .. figuring out what to leave here, with the idea in mind how the situation is in the US.
Besides a huge stove, which works with gas (only way I want to cook), there will not be any electronic items, cause they would never develop their full power
there. With us its 4 big items (buffets and "Schrank"), some carpets (which are defently more expensive in the US) 2 tables and a big leather sofa (nice italian style & not seen under $5000
in the US). But bought it here at a furniture exposition for half of the price. The rest is very personal and very important. And knowing what we allready have, my husband and myself
do not want to start by ZERO. One thing we will not have to worry about, especially since I will not start working right away.

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)MOVING COMPANIES

Did you ever find out more information. We're moving at the end of the month, and so far we've been selling everything we can... Things are cheaper in the US...

Yes, I did find some companies, one is ITO (they do the moving for the us military also) ... now waiting on prices and calculations.
True, some things are cheaper in the US and I will not take everything, but I travelled the world a lot and bought so many unique pieces of furniture
and decoration ... never would I gather all of that in the US lol Besides, I am a woman of 42 yrs, my roots in north-africa, and its important to me and my son to
be sourrounded by the things we love ( Lucky me, my husband like it too) ... and its almost 40 boxes with clothes and shoes and bags ... I will not leave that behind
The estimated value is over 25.000 euros, we would loose more money if we sell it here ... one price calculation is 6.500 euro door to door and packing and unpacking,
also includes them handling the paperwork ... at least I have an idea now.
If I was a young man or woman .. I wouldnt take no baggage with me either ...

German portal only means that other people with country listed as Germany can see it.
You have to post in the regional forums for the country to have it be in the country specific area. I have moved your post to the correct place.

Awwwww thank you, that is so nice of you! (F) I truly appreciate this!

Moving from ROC forums to regional forums as this is not a ROC issue or question but a question about moving companys in a specific country.

Ok well, I did post it in the german portal ... but ok. Never mind ;-)

I don't think this is a ROC question but I'll try to help anyway. I'm a bit confused though, your company is transferring you from Germany to the US? Are you wondering what kind of visa you'll need? If your company is the one doing the transfer, my guess is you'll be granted a work visa sponsored through your work. As far as the container, I don't know what you mean. A package? Your belongings being moved from Germany to the US? Give us more details and we might be able to help...

Oh ok, its about our household here in germany ... furniture etc. We do need a container to hold our household. Visa vice, we got approved on our I-130 two weeks ago.
I know I need tht visa to not pay taxes on our things, so we are good wih this. But it seems the prices for the move are so diffrent and I wanted to know if somebody made some experiences. My husband isnt military, so we will have to look for a moving company ourselves and also pay for it.

Hello,

does anybody know about moving companies from germany to the US? Door to door ... and how long would a container take?
What were the experiences in your case?
What am I allowed to take and is it true that the container isnt supposed to arrive ahead of me?

I appreciate any information on this topic
.

Thank you in advance

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)What Happens at NVC Center?

Hi! Start calling NVC a week after you got your NOA2! They will give you a case number and will forward the papers to frankfurt. You dont really have to do anything anymore but to send your fiance the affidavit of support and the letter from your job, bank statements and pay stubs. He should check out the us consulate page ( http://german.german...visa/iv/antrag/ ) and complete step 3 through 6. You can send in everything at one time. The required documents of the checklist too. As soon as you get the case number have him get the passport type pictures(check the page for the size)taken, all his shots and then go to get the medical done. The consulate will write him a letter which will just tell him that they received the papers and give him the link that i inserted above. He can start filling it out already. Dont worry too much about the evidence of ongoing relationship. You can send in a copy of a card, maybe an email and a recent pic and thats it. He can also get the police certificate already and the international birth certificate. I got 3 since i will need them for the aos.

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Recent interview in Frankfurt for CR1

Hallo an Alle,

Well, you cant tell how they do it and how long it takes.
I had my interview last tuesday with my son and still cant track the package, which means they havent sent it out yet.
My friend had the interview on wednesday last week, guess just like you, and she told me today that se was able to track it today,
which means its on its way to her YaYY ..
So, just be patient. I believe it comes this week, if not then it will come after the holidays, cause I read the consulate is closed between the years,
just cant remember the dates.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Starting to get pissed at NVC!!!
Hey everybody,

same with us. NOA 2 on june 22nd ... but they said it will take them 30 days minimum, after this we should call.
So I guess we will next week. I also think that regardless of what time they receive the papers from any service center .. we should should forget about
who got approved before or after.... I dont believe they consider that. Hopefully we all will hear some good news soon ... stay positve!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVisiting the US during visa processing

You should be fine. I have travelled to the US a couple times to visit my husband and has been ok. Questioned a lot though. Just be honest and you will be fine. Here's my advice from what i have experienced.

My first question for you is...has your husband filed for you yet?

If he has filed and you have received your NOA1 bring that with you. This will show that you have started your process and have the right intentions. Also, make sure you have a return ticket. Other things they ask for are a work agreement or letter from your employer to show you are expected back at work, an apartment/house rental agreement. Anything that shows you have to return to your own country. If asked what your intentions are, say you are on VACATION and VISITING your husband. You will no doubt be asked where you will be staying, what your husband does for work, etc. And prepare yourself to be asked the same questions several times. It works more in your favour if you are upfront and honest.

If you and your husband HAVE NOT sent in any applications for you, then don't bring it up. What is the purpose of your visit? VACATION. If you indeed plan to only stay for the short visit and leave on your said date, there is no need to bring up your marriage. You are not lying. You will probably still need all the evidence to show you have to return to your home country, but if you say you intend to immigrate, you will be questioned harder. Don't show them anything unless they ask for it. Just have it with you.

I hope this helps! If it doesn't make sense, feel free to message me!

Key words to use are VACATION and VISITING.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Awww, thank you so much, yes indeed .. only for visit. I have a son from a previous marriage who is surely waiting on mami to come back home ;-) and defently have a job I need to come back to.

Also, we allready booked and paid my husbands ticket to come to germany during eastern, I could also bring that with me.

No intentions to stay and my husband sent the paperwork out yesterday ;-) We are both some sort of exited to see what will happen now ...

I booked a flight at the end of this month, for only 5 days to spent some time on my husbands birthday, now ... could there be any

What paperwork could I bring to indicate that I have no intention to stay in the usa, only for this short-trip, after all I have a job and

US Citizenship General DiscussionLose German Citizenship

My husband is German and applied for citizenship in the US and will be taking his oath next week. Will he lose his German citizenship after he takes this oath? Can't he just have dual citizenship?

Hi, yes, your husband will defently loose his citizenship for germany. Germany is one of the few countries who DO NOT support dual citizenship.
Yes, he can apply for it ... but for this he will have to proove that he has family-blood-line related ties in the USA!! Or if he owns land, lots of houses, a company etc that makes him need the citizenship in germany ... but even then its almost impossible that germany accepts it. For more info you can message me cause there is one way he can keep both .... greetings from Heidelberg.

I defently agree with habib ... why is he giving you a hard time?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPetitioners move to the beneficiarys country due to a hirement

Normally, you would need to spend more time inside the USA than outside. However, if your husband is with the military or an official government contractor, there are ways around that.

Thank you Queen ;-))

Yes, he is official goverment contractor ... and of course in case of a move we would live here, more out than inside the USA .. thats the problem.
Ways around it ? What could this be?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPetitioners move to the beneficiarys country due to a hirement

As long as he keeps an address in the US, I think it would be ok if he came to Germany. The thing is, once you get your visa, you have 6 months to move to the US otherwise it is invalid. Also, if you choose to stop the process now, you don't get any money back, and you'll have to pay the same fees in the future.

Thank you for the reply,

he did work in his GS job here before, so that is not the problem. I also know that the visa once issued is valid for 6 months ... we are wondering what will happen if the entire family will have to move back to germany once he gets hired from here .... what will happen to my visa, cause I read on here that once I enter the USA with an immigrant visa, I would have to stay ... at least not leave for more than a couple of weeks in the year ....

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-230 requirements

Hi all,

I have a question: one of the requirements for the IV package according to LingChe says: "police certificate is required for any place in their country of citizenship; the beneficiary has lived longer than six (6) months, after the age of 16."

I have my police certificate from Germany but there is only one certificate, there are no certificates for specific cities/ places. Since I lived in several cities in Germany since I was 16 I am worried that they want to see more certificates.

Any experiences with that?

Good morning,

actually the police certificate has nothing to do with the diffrent places you have lived at in germany,
since the records of the Einwohnermeldeamt show and proove where you have been registered. Its a must in germany
to register whenever you move. The police certificate is issued from the data base in germany which allready stores
every kind of information about you.

I only sent in one, the only one I could get :)

But let me know if I am wrong, thank you!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPlease help!

Hello All,

We didn't get a receipt number with our NOA1. How can I find out what ours is? Who do I contact? Doesn't Frankfurt (our USCIS office) give receipt numbers?
I asked a similar question a few days ago and got the answer "of course you got a receipt number."
But...we really didn't. I don't know what to do. I don't even really know how important it is, but I'd love to track our case.

Thanks!

Hi to you,

I can only tell you how it went for us ...

I am not sure if you mix things up or not ... Frankfurt isnt our USCIS office, its the US consulate where, when the processing is coming to an end, we will have to be interviewed before
receiving our visa, at least for those living in this area ... before anything goes to Frankfurt, USCIS sends the paperwork to a service center (which one will be mentioned in your NOA1 email) from there to the NVC (national visa center) and when it comes to an end ... this is when the NVC scedules an interview appoinment for you at the embassy in Frankfurt ... that is only then, when you will actually deal with them.

The receipt number and the receipt notice will (as usually mentioned in the NOA1 email), come by standard mail to the adress you gave on your form, like it says in the NOA1 email ... 7 to 10 days after .... with that number you may go to the website and check on ... MY CASE STATUS ... hope this will help!
And if you really didnt receive a number, then you will have to call Vermont Service Center .... since they are doing your paperwork, like you stated on your timeline.

Dont become nervous ... its better to practice patience with this paperwork process ;-))

Good Luck on your journey!

Faten

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNA02 Approved woohoo!
Congratulations!!

My husband received our approval in a late txt message this past friday ... and finally we can start making plans in a good time frame.
We sent our package out in february and knowing it would at least take 5 months, we were surprised we got approved before that time (L)

We were not stressing the process, but feel relieved about moving forward ... I can relate to the feelings about the interview .. cause thats one sure thing where I
really dont know what to expect ... but I believe everything will be just fine!
