Well, the painters were in and out in record time. My husband loves the colours. I'm still adjusting. It's very Florida. laughing.gif

So sorry to hear about the rough journey your cousin has been going through. Here's to hoping that the worst is behind her and she can go on living without any more pain. good.gif

Haha! Krikit when you say "very Florida" I'm totally thinking "Golden Girls" colours for some reason.. lol

Good morning everyone!!

Just talked with my daughter. She was very upset because her cat didn't come home last night. Very rare that he goes beyond 5 feet of the house because he's an indoor cat. She was up all night crying and looking for him. When she left for work this morning he was outside the house, covered in blood with a huge gash on his leg. The vet said his leg was broken and they may have to remove his paw. His back claws are all worn down and the vet said that it looked like he was trying to escape from whatever it was he was stuck in for a very long time. Poor wee thing. sad.gif

I don't know if I told anyone, but I made Gene a wedding memory shadowbox for our 1st anniversary. Here's a pic of it if anyone wants to see it. You can see on the bottom left corner of the box there is a white coffee bag. Those were our wedding favours. White brides and black grooms with a little heart shaped coffee scoop attached. They were quite cute.

SO crafty! Kinda beats the pants off the one I made.

I saw a strange/ disturbing thing at the Social Security office yesterday:

So, the waiting room was full and I take a number and sit down. About ten minutes later, in walks a tiny little east asian girl wearing the following: hot pink micromini skirt, red knee-high stiletto boots, a lime green tube top and a silver and gold bomber jacket (it's cold here right now). She looks about 15 but I'm guessing she was probably closer to 19 or 20 because of what she's wearing and who she walks in holding hands with - a disheveled man about 45 years old.

The man tells the security guard he's there to get her SS card and is asked where his receipt is. The man immediately starts getting annoyed, "I don't have a receipt!" After being told he needed a receipt or would have to re-apply, he continues to get more upset and yell. By this point, everyone in the waiting room is staring at him and his scantily clad partner.

They take a number and take a seat. Over the next 15 minutes, the whole waiting room watches and listens as he coaches his wife (I'm assuming) in English - "SO-SHALL SE-CURE-ITEEEE" She looked frustrated and scared and he just looked mean.

I obviously started assuming a lot of things about this couple and this man...

I felt bad for the poor girl...

Normally I would agree stick is the way to go!! But if your in stop and go traffic, which quite often is the case on the beltway, stick drives me crazy!! prior to moving down here my Nissan Spec V was a stick, and it drove me nutz with all the shifting!! Luckily I dont have to drive that much, my wife on the other hand drives around 50 miles to work!!! and thats only 1 way,lol She is soo sick of driving.

I TRIED to explain this to my husband. Traffic around DC is probably the worst I've driven in and it drives me nuts in a stick. He really wanted me to learn and I'm glad I did but it'll be so much better when we move away from all the traffic!

The 2008 is amazing and apparently more powerful than the 05. You're right about loving or hating the look of it. I totally love it but I know a lot of people really hate it.

This woman who works where my Husband works (and drives him bonkers) -

Their office is in the area where the former Currie Barracks is, in Calgary - so there is a lot of open field surrounding the office, hence they have gophers, which the woman feeds.

So she says the other day "I'm not going to train them this year - just feed them".

So he wants to know when she became the 'gopher whisperer' and if she understands that they are squealing for food, not because she 'trained' them.

I'm with you there. I've said it before here I think - I'm allergic to the cold.

In my perfect world, I only deal with snow for around 2 weeks around Christmas and on ski trips. Other than that, I love warmer climates and can't live in the cold. Poor excuse for a Canadian I know. If I had a dime for every time I said "I'm so cold" and then an American says "But you're Canadian" I could buy a new car! (or at least a cup of coffee from Starbucks)

I am glad you did not have to use any mouchoirs with the coffee today crikey!

My Husband's visa came in the mail today, it's very swish I must say.

My Brother in Law and Nephew were at the Nebraska USCIS office this morning for their visa interview and they are now official green card holders (or will be when the cards arrive in about two weeks). My Nephew can claim citizenship now that he has that.

I won't go in to huge detail about my BIL's visa interview, however many many many years ago he was caught with marijuana. What I do want to say is that because the very old court documents did not state what he was caught with - just that he was caught - he had to file a waiver. The USCIS person was so nice, she already had it all ready to go, they just had to write a note saying what he had been in possession of and pop out and get a money order - how efficient/nice is that!

All great news!

Good morning!
I woke up sick as a dog... my husband had this cold last week and I was feeling pretty smug that it hadn't hit me. Then it hit me hard this morning.

Yuk!

Interesting story from when I was in the waiting room of the dealership having my car serviced yesterday:

There was a man sitting across from me with his wife. He asked about 3 or 4 other people sitting near him if they were republican or democrat (primaries were here yesterday) Everyone he asked said they were voting for Obama. Anyway, I'm just flipping through a magazine trying to mind my own business when I hear
Him: Excuse me miss?
I look up
Him: Are you a republican or a democrat?
Me: Oh I can't vote
this is when it got funny
His Wife: Oh #### me too! Oh I can't vote neither! Felony charges. Incarcerated. Where were you in prison at?
Me: OH NO no no no! I can't vote because I'm Canadian
His Wife: Oh
She looked very disappointed.
The waiting room was full and I could hear snickering from every corner
Him: You don't got no accent or nothin. Don't y'all talk with some funny accent?
Me: Nope. Not really. We pretty much talk like Americans.
At that point I got up to see what was taking so long with my car and tried to get out of there.

My car wound up taking forever and I was almost late for my biometrics appointment.
