United KingdomWhos in the UK but actually not in the Capital London?
We are in the Midlands, a small town called Tamworth which is north of Birmingham and just outside Lichfield. I say Lichfield cos most people know where that is because of the cathedral there!

Hubby is from Rockford (just outside of Chicago), and he loves it here in UK! When I first met him he was adamant that no way was he going to leave his country and move to the land of 'bland' food!! :P

He sings a different tune now and loves most things about UK - he says that he misses the 'chicken coop' that we used to go to where we could get a huge plate of chicken wings with different sauces - mmmmmm, was nice I must admit.

United KingdomMoving back to England with American wife and kids?
We moved to the UK 4 years ago and the system was so much easier......there was no medical checks or police certificate.. We had to prove we could support ourselves and have a place to live.

Wyatt was entitled to NHS as soon as he set foot in the country - in fact the doctor never asked for any paperwork or proof, just looked at his passport. He was allowed to seek work right away and was free to travel in and out of the country.

Was quite a shocker to me after being put 'through the treadmill' with fiancé and spousal visas and if we had known it was so flipping easy to come from USA to UK we would have done it that way first.

Wyatt sat his Life in the UK test before he applied for permanent residency and apart from when he decides to go for citizenship I am happy to say our mountain of paperwork collected over 7 years can finally get thrown on the bonfire!!

The best site to help you further is http://www.UK-yankee.com/. Visa Journey helped me so much when going to USA and uk-yankee helped me going back!!

United KingdomUK Citizenship Test - When to take it?
The test needs to be taken before your visa runs out and you apply for permanent residency, but it is not for UK Citizenship - its a 'Life for UK' test.

Its supposed to show your knowledge of language but its really nothing to do with language at all - more of the knowledge of Great Britian.

This is the link: http://www.lifeintheuktest.gov.uk/

United KingdomESTA Application Number
Thanks a lot everybody good.gif

I did try and print out the page but for some strange reason it wont do it so I have written down the number on my paperwork.

Only two weeks this friday now and starting to get excited now but I'm still betting that I will get pulled in for questioning as I am still using the same passport and it has my fiance and spousal visa in there!

United KingdomESTA Application Number
No, I dont have a green card because we came to live in the UK and I stopped my application. Far too long a story to go into but it was a nightmare and coming back together was really our only option.

We have been back four years now and Wyatt (US Citizen) has permanent residency here. We are returning for a holiday and I want to cover every avenue there is so I don't get turned away because I might not have the correct visa, an immigration officer does not like my face or the fact that my passport still holds the cancelled visa and they might think I'm trying to come back and live there.

United KingdomESTA Application Number
I have applied on-line for my ESTA and was approved and sent my application number.

What I need to know is should I have any paperwork with me when I get to the airport or will it be picked up when my passport is electronically read?

I will take a note of my application number as a just in case but would appreciate it if anybody can tell me if they have traveling using their ESTA?

Thanks.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionTravelling while having conditions removed
Well talk about rubbing my eyes here   - I've not seen a whisper of you pair for such a long time. Err, not that I come on that much anyway - I just peek in once in a blue moon. Just peeked in now to let those that still remember me that Wyatt has his long awaiting date for his operation - 19 Dec !!
