IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-864/I864A questions recommendations please help.

No your roommate would file the I-864.  The I-864A is ONLY for combing income with household members such as a husband and wife, siblings or dependent children.

He would need to get his most tax return no matter what you do.  He needs either the tax return or the tax transcript for 2012 or a reason why he filed an extension.  He also needs to have filed his taxes for the last 3 years (you do as well.)

It's also a good idea for him to get a letter of employment and/or several months of pay stubs to show his current, ongoing income.

That is what I thought. thank you for the help. however I have had a major shift in plans. my roommate was terminated from his job so I had to find a better joint sponsor (which I did)

the part I'm worried about is the house we moved into (we aren't technically in the house yet though its under renovations)  I Changed my address to this house. We have not signed a lease yet since its owned by his grandmother. but he is beginning to think she is planning on selling the house out from underneath us. Which is a scary thought. I've already had to change my address with NVC once. Is it going to cause problems if I have to change it a second time in the span of a couple of months?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-864/I864A questions recommendations please help.

Hello I'm a US Citizen Filing for my Canadian wife to become US resident I'm filing CR-1 visa and I've hit a confusing problem. we are at the NVC stage, I am preparing my I864

I need a joint sponsor I do not make enough income on my own, My Roommate/friend/co-worker has agreed to be my joint sponsor.

1.since we live together, what is the better option should he file I864A? We both filed our taxes seperately I am not a dependant of his nor is he of mine.

I was planning on having him only file the I864 since I wasnt sure if it be necesarry that one of us would have claimed the other on our taxes. The Issue is he filed his  taxes late, and I'm not sure if I can get his most current tax return. If I am not mistaken he doesn't have to provide his tax returns if I have him as household member filling out i864a?

or is it necesarry he be a family member/filed on tax together?

Any help would be a huge blessing.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduressecond address change during NVC stage will this cause problems?

for the petioner - NVC doc intake - the petitioner's address not matter at this stage, as payments are handled electronically and the interview letter is sent via email.

for the beneficiary - NVC doc intake - the beneficiary's address does not matter either.

Now, on interview day - the address matters - so make certain that updated DS-230s and updated I-864s ,showing the current address on beneficiary and petitioner, are submitted to the Vice-Consul , beneficiary's hand to the Vice-Consul's hand, stating there were address changes.  The Vice-Consul will accept it. If the case was handled via EP and electronic forms at NVC, it's a requirement to bring in all paper versions of the forms anyway, so having updated forms with updated addresses doesn't hurt one bit.   Assuming the beneficiary will interview in Montreal - there are also address capture bits prior to Interview Day with Loomis/DHL so pay attention to those address bits for the beneficiary - usually the beneficiary wants to receive the VISA PACKET from the IV UNIT after interview day.

On POE Day - at the POE, the beneficiary is given ONE MORE CHANCE to update the Petitioner's address.

AFTER POE - the address is also captured at ELIS for green card production and delivery.

Also - don't forget to update yer address online, whoever you are (beneficiary or petitioner) ..

Maybe you can help me with this question. what is going to be acceptable as proof of address for the interview? (renters lease? bills? pay stubs? ID)with that address? also if I have some sort of rental agreement does it have to be notarized? that might be hard to get notarized.

I recently changed my address, I have not yet sent in my AOS. Things may fall through with my living situation at the current address and I may have to change it a second time within the span of a couple months. Is this threatening to my situation?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-864 AOS cover page?

You are adjusting status which is different than what mostly everyone else is doing in this forum which is an IR-1/CR-1 visa.  But thank you for trying.  smile.png

It only needs the bar coded cover page however I put a cover sheet with a list of what was contained within the PDF file I sent to the NVC.

Have you been following the directions for Montreal beneficiaries?

Wow, thanks so much. That link is VERY helpful. I wasn't aware that you could optin for electronic processing and was under the impression that you had to send an original hard copy to the NVC. NVC should make that more clear! Hopefully this will speed up the process!!
