US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMontreal, when I send my package in, how long til appointment?
the NVC just sent our case onto Montreal, Quebec, Canada. once they send my package to me, and I complete it, and return necessary forms/check list, how long til they assign my interview date?

I realize than my interview will be exactly one month from the day they assign it.

Anyway to get it sooner? just showing up or any fun tricks?

Thanks!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAffidavit of Support

A lot of questions!

  • First the instructions are included with the form. I-134
  • To determine if you make enough look at the poverty Guidelines I-864P I-864P
  • Yes The petitioner have to file it. If petitioner dosnt make the 125% poverty level in I-864P then get a co sponsor like a parent.
  • Yes they use I-134 for K-1 visa.

What does the co-sponser fill out?

Thank you.

Can someone give me information on Affidavit of Support forms, etc for Montreal. Do they use the I-134. Where can I get instructions for it? How do I know who's qualified to fill it out for me? Does it have to be the petitioner, what if he didn't make enough.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDS-230

Hi all,

I got the forms sent to me from the US Embassy here in Ireland with the DS-230 and DS-156 form in it, on the cover page it said " Frist send the DS-230 right away because nothing can be done until we receive this" But with the packet also had like a check list of things needed. My question is, do i send the DS-230 and wait for them to get back to me or get everything on the check list and and send them, i tried to call but there was no answer. Any help or information would be great. Thanks

Dermot

If it's the same as here...
Step One: Send in the DS-230. (Part 1 only)
Step Two: Complete the check list, sign it, and send in copy of signed check list (or fax it)

I would only assume you dont' have to wait to hear from them to move onto step two.

CanadaPackages.... probably a stupid question...

"package" 1 is the NOA1 reciept from the service centre, "package" 2 is the approval notice, "package" 3 is the forms and checklist from the consulate, and "package" 4 is the interview schedule letter.

It all makes sense now.. thanks! :)'

CanadaPackages.... probably a stupid question...

Some consulates combine packet 3 and 4 others send 4 after they get paperwork back from 3. Just 2 packets unless you count the package with aproved K-1, Visa and sealed brown envelope a package.

If you want to know more look at the guides and FAQ's

http://www.visajourn...cation.html#4.3

Partially, So package one was I-129F? and package 2 was your NOA?

I thought people were saying you get 4 packages from the consulate in Montreal... I was thinking that was pretty stupid!!! lol

Okay, I was wondering, You get 3 packages apparently.. I didn't realize this ! I just assumed it all came as one package...

CanadaVisiting my Fiancee while waiting for my interview...
I guess if there was an easier way to ensure you get across, the bad guys would always win too...

Mind you lying does sometimes seem like the easy way out, though I couldn't personally do it without having it written all over my face. lol.

CanadaVisiting my Fiancee while waiting for my interview...

I visited many times without difficulties. But about a month and a half ago I got an officer who didn't know his stuff, and was denied entry. Since then consular officers at both of my interviews (Vancouver -K3, and Montreal -CR1) read the reason for the denial and apologized for it. It was an expensive nuisance but it didn't affect my visa application.

Thanks for the info.

Do you think you're more or less likely to be denied if you fly vs driving?

I'm in Ontario, and He's in Montana (a 35 hour drive) Do you think it would effect their decision?

CanadaVisiting my Fiancee while waiting for my interview...
So now that I realize it takes up to 4 months to get your interview.. I have a NEW QUESTION!

After we first applied for our 129F I went and visited my Fiancee for 5 weeks. I was able to convince the officer at the border I would be returned.. and I of course did on the date promised.

Once we get to the point were we are just waiting for our interview date, will it work the same if I desire to go visit him?

The proof I'd have I was returning to Canada would be, a letter from my employer stating my date of return as a current full time employee. And of course the simple fact that I've got this far in the immigration process, and must return for my interview... OH and my flight itinerary of course.

Do you think i"d have any problem? (I could only take 2 bags with me...)

CanadaStarting process for Montreal to Vancouver transfer!

So, after seeing some successful cases here, I just emailed the Vancouver consulate to see if transferring of our case would be possible. I noted that Craig will be staying with family in Vancouver during the time prior and surrounding his interview (which would be true if we got transferred) and would like to use their address. We'll see if it works. Hopefully I can get a response from Vancouver and Montreal soon and catch the case at the NVC before they send it on. Heck, even if it gets forwarded to Montreal and then gets sent to Vancouver it'll still be a thousand times easier.

Aside from the faster processing, I'd be so excited to get to go up and visit with Craig's family and see Vancouver!

Wish me luck!
:star: Cass (bebop the great)

This actually seems like a question that would be better to call the NVC and ask, or e-mail them. Since they would be the ones actually doing the transfer for you. :)

Just a thought.

CanadaWhen does petitioner receive evidence of support forms.
I was unable to find the answer to this question in the guides, or in another thread... I'm sure it's there somewhere, but I either didn't see it, or failed to understand it.

At what point in the process will the petitioner receive "I-134 Affidavit of Support form." and from whom?

Thank You

CanadaAffidavit of Support

Can someone give me information on Affidavit of Support forms, etc for Montreal. Do they use the I-134. Where can I get instructions for it? How do I know who's qualified to fill it out for me? Does it have to be the petitioner, what if he didn't make enough.

Jimmy, the affidavit will arrive when you get package 3 from Montreal I think. I can't remember because my fiance has mine in Quebec right now. But as for who can fill it out, if the petitioner does not make enough then he/she can get a co-supporter to help. There is a lot of information that is required to support someone but none of it is difficult to get. A person supporting you does not need to make alot of money, they just need to make the required minimum but I don't remember what that is. I know someone who brought her fiance here from Russia and she did not make enough so her mother filled out the affidavit. If I can find the website, I will send it to you but there is aplce that tells you how much a person has to make and what is required in order to sponsor someone. Does anyone else here know how he can find this out?

Thanks, I posted this question twice in two seperate forums and received several responses thanks!

CanadaGetting Interview Date

Oh I wasn't aware you could fax the list back. What's the fax number?

Vancouver Fax number: 604-685-7175

I faxed my checklist and DS-230 part 1 on a Friday (That had a holiday monday) So I called on Tuesday (called (604)685-4311, ext. 235) they transfered my call to another extension which I left a message on a machine. I called back the next day (Wednesday) They had just received my case (literal copy) from Monteal that day, she made sure everything was in order and gave schedualed me for an interview while I was on the phone.

Hi Mercy
Thanks for your help. I have last question for you. I check the website you gave to me. How did you do your medical exam when you starting apply adjustment of status(AOS).
Did you jsut submit the copy of K1 medical examination. How about the case number. I asked for it but the doctor said I need to get new case number then they will mail to me the copy. How could we know new case number now if we jsut starting apply AOS/EDA (adjsut status)? see the following statement from that website:

"13. I-693, Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status. (If you already have this from your overseas Visa Interview submit a copy that medical check form; No fee is required in this case. If you are a K-1 fiancé(e) or K-2 dependent who had a medical examination within the past year as required for the nonimmigrant fiancé(e) visa, you only need to submit a vaccination supplement (I-693A), not the entire medical report. You may include the vaccination supplement with your adjustment of status application.) "

I asked the doctor who did my medical for a copy of the vaccination supplement, which I'll include with my AOS application. If your doctor didn't/wouldn't give you a copy, I think you can ask at the POE when you enter on your K1, otherwise call the doctor again and ask simply for a copy of the vaccination supplement, not the entire medical. I'm not sure what you mean about case number though.

Thanks Mercy.

Not sure if this is of any help, but I just picked up my medical package today, they gave me an extra copy of my vacinations and were sure to point out that THEY do not keep a copy.
So if your doctor is the same.. they won't have one for you

CanadaI've decided to try to transfer to Vancouver...
I transfered :)
I had received my package 3 from Montreal when I realized I wouldn't get my interview til February IF I was lucky. So after much advice, especially from mercy, I called Montreal and asked that my case my transfered to Vancouver. They did it. No questions asked, she didn't require an address out west (I'm from Ontario), She just DID IT! I was super surprised... She typed away on her computer and boom it was transfered.
Vancouver Immidietely receives a eletronic copy of your case, so they know who you are at that point. They can not issue you an interview though until the paper copy arrives in the mail. I faxed Vancouver my check list right away, and kept calling to check in, The day my paper copy of my case arrived I was given my interview date of the phone. December 8th :) (3 weeks away from when they got my case)
That's my story :)

CanadaVisa in Hand.
I have my Visa!!! I'm in YVR right now waiting for my plane to board.

I will write a full review later! Here are some quick thoughts

My Doctor neglected to check a couple boxes and it took them a long time to get ahold of them in order to get the proper paper work.

They told me and the others there we needed to have Tax returns for all Affidavit of Supports, not just self-employed. Although I'm sure we know more about the process than she did. haha.

Once you go through security no washrooms.

Bringing Fiancee a plus. Only asked me around 3 questions!!!

Review to come.

Thanks for your thoughts!
