hi Veepee.. If your not planning to go back in Taiwan you can request it now.. just like what I did.. I've been staying here in PI for more than a year after I had a job in Taiwan. I never plan to go back so I request for my police certificate this year via mail. and I had it on my hand now.. but if your goin back again to Taiwan and your goin to stay there more than 6 months that's the time you'll be ask for another police certificate from taiwan. I hope this will help you.. Goodluck!

Thank u so much CHOX! kicking.gif ur a blessing! kicking.gif ..........

another question pls????..........how can anyone send cash thru mail? i know this is prohibited so i wonder how that works (but u did that, right?). Also, it says 3 working days upon receiving your request- thats quick i must say but how long does it take for the to and fro mail ? Within a month? or months before finally receiving the Police Certificate(include to and fro travel)?

Thankx again and i hope everything is running smoothly on your side. good.gif

actually we're not allowed to send cash thru mail (co'z it is not safe)... what I did is I send my application via DHL and you should not tell them that you have a cash on your documents co'z they will not allow you. Then I send my documents with all requirements including $20 dollars cash, it takes less than 3 weeks before I got my police certificate with my change $9dollars cash(I'm happy I got change!). Actually it takes only less than 2 weeks but our post office here in Philippines doesn't work as faster as any other country, they let our documents and letters sleep on their office.. and thats really sucks! anyway good luck again.. I'm glad that I can help you... God bless...

Hi guys! Need some help or advice from anybody who had experienced on applying for a police clearance from a different country like Taiwan. I shouldn't be applying for it on the first place bec. as indicated on the ds-157, q-9: list all countries you have entered in the last ten [10] years. I went there in Taiwan 12 years ago and since I met my love during that time. So during the pre-screener interview , I told the exact place where I met my love. So this was the result of the interview of the pre-screener and the consul, wherein I receive a pink and white slip.
I paid $11 and an extra $4 for the clearance and mailing fee and mailed through an express mail in the post office last Oct. 2, it was received in Taiwan Oct. 6. (Note:I send the money in cash inside a big envelope with all the needed requirements and a self-address envelope).
It's almost 2 weeks and i had no any response mail coming from the police dept.of Taipei. Is it really that slow or i have to be more patient? Can anybody share me there experience and advice me too on what to do. Thanks for any replies....

Hi Jhamel....
You still need to apply for the police certificate from Taiwan co'z you stayed there more than 6 months. What I did here is I called the Foreign Affairs Division in Taiwan and they gave me the website and requirements that I should need. I send them my application including my new passport photocopy, my application and $20. I mailed it using DHL for assurance. I never told that my documents include some cash. After 3 weeks of waiting I finally got my Police certificate and with my change of $9 cash!!!... actually my documents arrived in Manila less than 2 weeks. You have to wait for the postman when they want to deliver it??.. and that what really sucks!!!... good luck to you...

Hi Chox! Thanks for the reply, but still have questions. I had no A.R.C., but I sent the photocopies of my old passport with the necessary important info., included too is the photocopy of the new passport. Did you inquire from them after you had sent your requirements through phone or e-mails? Wow, so still i have to extend my patience....I hope it will arrive soon so i can submit it to usem and be a member of the waiting list of visas...thanks again

2. the Application form which you can download.(in application form use your new passport number ok)
3. Self Addressed envelop( make address to be clear and readable)
4. and 18$.( actually I send them 20$ and they send me back my 9$ change in CASH...)
e
I called them too and I asked them if they need my ARC because I lost it and they told me its ok. they just need the "4 requirements". Thats all... Good luck!!

Hello VJ'ers!!!!

I have an important question:

My fiancee is going to take her medical appointment on Monday Jan 12, 2009. We have our case number and a letter from the NVC stating the case will be forwarded to the USEM within a week. And we should be able to get our interview date this week. But I need to know if definite that she needs to have that letter from the USEM with the case #? Will they turn her away if she does not have that letter. Can she take her Case#, NOA2, passport and other things and still succeed in getting the medical appointment? Or will they turn her away for not having the packet letter because she has not received it yet?

I have heard many have taken their medical without getting the letter from the USEM, if so, what did you say to the guard at the door?

Thanks for your help!

do i still need police clearance from the places i stayed while i was in america? i previously had a J1 visa and lived in maryland for almost 2 years (oct 29, 2006-may 31, 2008)...
i was hoping it would only be an NBI clearance from the Phil. coz i don't know how to get a police clearance and i am already back in the phil. i dont have any criminal records in america and never had any speeding ticket or whatever.
thanks! star_smile.gif

Yes Kaye.. you need to request a police certificate from the U.S.A because you live more than 6 months on the states. I think you can request police certificate online or via mail. You just need to check what are the requirements and the payment that your goin to pay. Search for the website of Foreign affairs divison of marylands. And as for here in the Philippines you've been staying more than 6 months. You are also required to have a police certificate and NBI clearance. hope this info could help you. If you have some question feel free to ask me...Good luck....

Called and set up our interview date last night. I have the appointment letter via email and it looks like everything is set to go.

Planning on the medical Jan 27th and the interview on Feb 6th.

Anyone here in VJ who will also have those dates?

I would love for my honey to have some company cause I can't be there at those times... crying.gif crying.gif crying.gif

Philippineshas anyone stayed at casa bocobo hotel?
QUOTE (weluvourlittleman @ Mar 1 2009, 12:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Has anyone here in VJ stayed at Casa Bocobo Hotel in Ermita, Manila? Any comments? We’re interested to hear your reviews since we’re planning to stay there while in Manila next week.

The hotel has this “book for 3 consecutive nights and get the 4th night Free” Promo.

The rates look affordable, inclusive of breakfast and free wifi. Not to mentioned the accommodation pictures are inviting, nice ambience plus the LCD tv in every room hehe.

Here’s the link to the hotel:

I stayed there when I had my medical exam at SLEC... the room is affordable and clean (what you see in promotion is what you get). And the people there are so friendly. so every time I go to manila that's the place where I stay to.
