My doc says that I will be scheduled for repeat CS Dec 28, so as far as birth plans are concerned, i guess that's how it's going to be.

I am terribly frustrated with my health provider's office...her OFFICE and not her. mad.gif I went to the office after doing urine dipstick tests (which i asked my hubby to swipe from work), having been experiencing pain at the end of urination plus a very "aromatic" urine. The office told me to come in and so I did. They did a dipstick of their own and told me that save for some "teeny-tiny amount of blood", all was normal and that they would send it to the lab for a culture. they said that i did not need any kind of medication because, they INSISTED that my labs were normal. I told them that I had the symptoms but they persisted. mad.gif And I know that with each day that passes, the risk of the baby getting the infection increases. Urine cultures usually take anywehre from 3-7 days. what am i supposed to do in the mean time? "take lots of fluids", they say. Cranberry juice has given me hyperacidity already and I am definietly NOT comfortable with what I feel everytime I go to the bathroom!!! I swear...they prefer to treat lab results rather than the PATIENT!!! mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif As an MD, I was told to always use my clinical eye and not always rely on lab tests. Like, pano kung nasa bundok ka na walang laboratory? di ba? These American docs are soooo into technology that they rely on it so much in their decision-making!!! mad.gif

I consulted a doc who was my Nephrology senior when i was doing my residency and he says that they could've at least given me a mild antibiotic like amoxicillin while awaiting culture results..

I think that my OB is going to have an earful when I go for my next pre-natal in a couple of weeks....

Woke up early this morning with repeated cramping in my lower abdomen, making me feel like peeing and running to the bathroom about 5 times in 30 mins. No pain on peeing though and this alarmed both me and my husband who had been awakened by my constant getting up. Called my OB's office and the on-call doc was paged and called me at home. Seeing that I was an MD, he gave me the option of going tot he ER right away or having my hubby run to the store to get me some cranberry juice. It has been about 5 hours since that happened and I feel fine now. Hubby pampered me with breakfast in bed and has basically ordered me to just lay back for the remainder of the day. He is watching me like an eagle and should the pain start again, will rush me to the hospital. Armed with pregnancy hormones, I actually cried out of joy about how devoted and supportive a husband he is. He is taking charge of our little girl for the whole day too. thank God that he is off for the next couple of days and that this happened on his day off. star_smile.gif

Is this your first pregnancy? how long have you been having this headache? You may want somebody to check your BP as there is such a thing as pregnancy-induced hypertension. Otherwise, some tylenol or acetaminophen is ok (my OB gave me a list of allowed meds in pregnancy).

Am having a pre-natal screen UTZ in two weeks to check on the baby. I'm pretty high-risk kasi because of my age. I do hope that everything will be alright. Can't really get myself to eat what I cook so I tend to spend more time watching hubby and the li'l girl eat at the dinner table. haaay naku...i like my decaf, sugar-free rootbeer though and some cheese puffs and cheese crackers. also some crackers with salsa on it...yummy! and strawberries...i get them on a weekly basis and munch on them. I don't like veggies that much and am just forcing myself to eat them. Fruit, I don't have a problem. And boxes and boxes of low-fat Yoo-Hoo!!! I can;'t find the equivalent of Anmum here kasi. Question to all who have had their first prenatal check:

My hubby included us in his health insurance before we left the Philippines. I had my first prenatal last week and we used our health insurance. Yesterday, I got a letter from the clinic saying that the insurance will cover 80% of the estimated prof fee of $3000, good for all my prenatals, labor and delivery, and postnatal checks. We will pay for the remaining 20% on a monthly basis from July till December.

Is this a usual thing? I am presuming that this does not include the hospital fees?

ryandgracey, you can pay for the DV now, it costs only 650 just follow the instruction of Delbros. But hold on to that receipt first ,don't send any your info payment to Delbros not until you have the MNL# written on your NOA2. And always follow up with Delbros if they send it to NSO and find out the date. Like what Jose Rizal said, follow also what others have been doing lately, securing CENOMAR/CENMAR/MARRIAGE INDEX/CDLI (daming arte ng embassy) and anything you can think of. It's better to be overzealous about this process. Good Lluck! smile.gif

We already have our case numbers, though is not on the USEM appt list yet. Should I wait till USEM gets my papers before sending the info payment?

I have my CENOMAR, and CENMAR/marriage index already. What would I need CDLI for? I am a legitimate child. My daughter is not but she is registered in my name and not her father's. I have an affidavit of illegitimacy which I executed before I applied for her passport and which I appended to her CR2 application.

Hi...thought I'd post my question on here. My husband called NVC and we have an Interview sched in December. We have not received the official letters yet but I would think that he would get his copy before we do. Can we pay DV already even without the letters yet? Or do we need to wait till USEM gets our papers? NVC said they sent it out yesterday. And can we go for the medicals without the appoinment letter or at least with a copy of the letter sent to my husband?

Thank you very much!

I went to have the seminar before I could renew my passport. Went to CFO from the travel agency with just my documents and my old passport. So my attending the seminar was impromptu. I was not asked to present a single document nor a single photo (I had a couple in my billfold, of course). Was a breeze for me. Attended the afternoon seminar and was left CFO with my certificate before 5pm. I dunno but I had the seminar in August. Perhaps a different set of staff then? Went back to CFO today a little past 1pm to have our passports affixed with the sticker. Was out of there before 3pm.

Dale

i just used ordinary lock for my luggage...though nothing was important inside but i didnt want people to put something in my luggage that will put me in trouble.

Found them at ACE Hardware. Also at the luggage dept of SM. My brother, a very seasoned traveler, advised me to get these. I didn't really have anything valuable in our baggages but in these times, anything can be of interest to anybody. Besides, the point of putting your stuff in your baggage is because you need them and it would suck big time if you find out later on that some stuff went missing.

Thanks, Pat seems to know about an ACE Hardware in the Quezon area and knows about SM stores. I agree, I think it is best to have some kind of lock and if any lock is used TSA will just break it if they want to inspect it. In March when I went to the Philippines I had no problem at all with TSA locks. All Pat will have are cloths and a few shoes, but I know she wants them or she would not be bringing them. Thanks again.

Dale

You are welcome. My daughter and I had a luggage and a balikbayan box each to maximize what we could bring. Bought balikbayan box bags to cover the boxes and put TSA locks on them, too. the bags are less cumbersome to use than to rope the boxes up...would be a hassle at the airport if you were asked to open them then secure them again with those ropes.

Good Luck to you both smile.gif

PhilippinesChanging my daughter's surname after adoption

i think she could have applied for a USA passport after the adoption was finalized.

Per USCIS, she still needs certificate of citizenship.

ryandgraceyFemalePhilippines2014-01-14 23:59:00
PhilippinesChanging my daughter's surname after adoption

I need some insight on this process.

My daughter and I came in on IR visas. Within the same year of our arrival, my husband decided to adopt her and in July of 2010 the adoption was finalized.  She was then issued a US birth certificate showing her new surname as my husband's.  Her green cards were amended to reflect the name change.  Of course, a certificate of citizenship will still formalize her US citizenship. Meanwhile, we renewed my and her RP passports but hers still carries her birth name (my maiden name), having been told that it can only be changed to her adoptive surname after we file for change of surname in the RP.

Would anybody know how to do this?  I was never married to her biological father nor does his name appear in any of her documents. He has never had any contact with her in the 11 years of her existence.

I am going to apply for citizenship this year. Of course, I am aware that once I become a citizen, she does, too. We still want her to have a Philippine passport though, although I am pondering on whether or not this is advantageous for her in the future.

PhilippinesSo...where are the VJ Fil-Am success stories?

Would've been here 5 years this April 7th.  Married 6 years as of December, Got pregnant within the first few weeks of arriving and we now have 3 wonderful kids (yes, my profile pic is outdated).....the youngest, the only boy, was a surprise :-) Our eldest, who left the RP shortly after completing Preparatory level, skipped 1st grade here and is currently in 6th grade. Just as she has excelled in the RP, so has she done the same so far, being a consistently in the honor roll. Hubby and I are both currently working full-time jobs which is a challenge, being that child care is generally expensive and our nearest kin in 4.5 hours away. Thankfully, we found kind and understanding caregivers who love our kids as they love theirs. Just survived a string of birthdays/holidays/ despite a full-time sched.  Hoping to make a trip back this spring star_smile.gif

PhilippinesWhere's your hometown?
I was born in Quezon City, spent most of my childhood nestled within the protective walls of Malacanang Park near Nagtahan in Manila and moved back to Quezon City in time to start highschool. Growing up within the confines of the Park was kinda cool. My father was known throughout the area, having been assigned to the then Presidential Security Command hospital. Went biking around the area with my childhood friends who were also children of military officers. Mabini Shrine was a favorite to go to, although my brother and I would sneak out through a hole in the wall to go to a sari-sari store in the nearby slums to redeem a yoyo by exchanging a soda bottle cap bearing the prize. My mother did not learn of this until we were adults......my parents would've been very cross. A boat ride across the Pasig River would take us to Malacanang Palace, so that the interior is still very familiar to me. My father and brother's barber was the barber or then Pres. Marcos. It was through my father that my brother and I were exposed to the arts...ballet, museums, operas, concertos, plays, and yes...even Martin Nievera's "On The Right Track" concert. My father was medical escort officer to certain members of the first family so that when they went to these functions, if the schedule permits, we would go, too.

My heritage is of a Spanish-Ilocano one and of a Pangasinense one. My paternal grandfather was a Spanish gentleman famer/businessman from Laoag City and my grandmother was a schoolteacher from Bacarra. Spent a lot of summer vacations there. Fort Ilocandia was an ambitious project than an uncle was part of. I have yet to go back to the beautiful Pagudpud and try the ride again on Paoay Lake. I have not been to visit for 20 years now and it seems that it will take longer for me to do so. My maternal grandfather is of the Montemayor clan from Alaminos. He was a member of the 26th Cavalry of the USAFFE based in Fort Stotsenberg (now Clark in Pampanga). He was killed in action by a Jap sniper. My grandmother is from Sta. Barbara in Urdaneta, Pangasinan. We still get our "bagoong" and salt from a nearby neighbor there. Alaminos is famous for the Hundred Islands and for the beach where Gen McArthur Landed. Oh.....the beaches.....standing tens of meters away from the shore and still have the water up to your knees. A few kilometers away from the house in Sta. Barbara is Calasiao where all these stalls in Manila that sell "puto" and "kutsinta" say their wares are from. The taste of the ones from Calasiao are really different....they are much much fresher.....and much, much cheaper, too! Further down from Calasiao is Dagupan.....home of the "bangus". On the other side from Calasiao are even more beaches.

Pity that I will be missing these...at least for awhile. When we get the chance to visit, I'd want to go and retrace my childhood and share it with my husband and children. Hopefully soon enough.

Oh...my hubby was born in Mobile, AL and basically went around the country with his family. His heart belongs to Thibodaux, LA where is grandfather's family still lives. I can't wait to meet them. smile.gif

Now what's next? My daughter is only 4-year-old and will NVC send DS-3032 to her? How can I tell NVC that I am going to be the agent for my daughter? She's too young to send email or sign the form. My wife has a separate case with NVC. Can my wife sends DS-3032 and assign me to be my daughter's agent?

Also, is it the time to call NVC and get IIN for online pay?

Thanks alot.

I emailed my daughter's ds-3032 using my email account, since I am her mother, after all. I did put her name and then a notation that i was sending it for her. It does contain all her pertinent details anyway (case number, CIS receipt number, et al). Minors are generally not expected to have their own email address, I would think.

You could that. As far as I know, if you have petitioned more than 1 immigrant, paying just 1 AOS bill for one immigrant will cover the others. But go ahead and call. Best to call at night, it seems...you get to talk to a person.

I checked AVR last night and it said that "AOS bill generated on 9/10 and will be sent out in next 2-4 weeks ...". Then I talked to a live rep and asked her for IIN. She said I had to call after receiving AOS bill from mail in order to get my INN. Is that the normal response you get from NVC rep? I guess I have to keep calling. NVC mail takes too long to arrive.

Also, after getting IIN, will I not only be able to pay bill but also check case status online? I heard the online status is updated much faster than AVR.

Dingc

The AVR is slow. And yes, you can check the status online after you have paid. Usually takes 2 working days for it to reflect as paid.

I still have not received any response or confirmation about the DS3032 email i sent for myself and my daughter, which I had sent about 4 days ago. Today, I got the actual DS3032 forms in the mail and will be sending it via Fed EX tomorrow. Will put them in separate envelopes in the Fed Ex packet. I would think that they treat it the same as they would any other case, putting in mind that she is a minor. Anyway, I will just have to wait and see till I get the packet. Otherwise, I have all her necessary documents ready for sending...or at least what I know she would need to send.

Thanks Ryandgracey. So I guess that yours and your daughter's I-130 were approved at the same time and both of your cases are now linked together at NVC.

My situation is a bit different. My wife's I-130 was approved first and got to NVC earlier than my daughter's. I think I need somehow tell NVC to link them together.

Dingc

You could that. As far as I know, if you have petitioned more than 1 immigrant, paying just 1 AOS bill for one immigrant will cover the others. But go ahead and call. Best to call at night, it seems...you get to talk to a person.

Hi Boorai, could you please tell me if that your wife and step-daughter have filed separate I-130? My yound daughter's case has just entered NVC and I am wondering how NVC handles child's case, especially for young child.

Thanks alot.

Hi Guys

Just a clarification,

when you guys e-mail documents like DS3032, Ds230, etc. to NVC, do you also have to send in by mail or e-mail is enough?

Can the Petetioner send everything from their e-mail or has to be from Benificary's e-mail?

When sending the job letters, tax docs, bank statement, pay stub, are they all have to be originals or i can send copy of that? How many pay stub i have to send? Can I e-mail them first and then overnight mail?

Please answer my questions accordingly and much appriciated.

Getting prepared for NVC cause I feel the approval anytime.

Thanks

I spoke to an operator, she said that for the I-864, copies are okay.

I need all the ansers accordingly to my question so I won't be confused when the time comes.

Thank you Mrs.Rowe and anypne else, if so, please feed back.

I think you can't email your I-864...you need to send the actual copies of the requested docs. As for the DS-3032, my husband got his with the AOS bill last sept 6th and he paid the bill online right away. Sept 7th I sent NVC emails for my daughter and myself using the 3032 template. I got the auto-responses but have not received any confirmation nor acceptance of it. Today, I got my copy of the DS-3032 and I am going to send it via Fed Ex to NVC, without waiting for the email response. One way or the other, NVC is bound to get it. Oh...and it is the beneficiary who should do the email.

After receiving approval/acceptance of the Choice of Agent, how soon can we expect the IV bill to be sent? And after the IV bill is paid, how soon will we be getting the ds230's?

Hi everyone. So I have finally got everything sent in to the NVC now. On the 4th they received my AOS, on the 11th they entered the DS3032 and on Monday they will receive the DS230. So does any one have a idea how much time could be left assuming we have no RFE's? I'm just asking about the NVC process, I know we have 2 months give or take for the embassy interview from nvc approval. THanks and good luck to everyone.

Hi! Seems we are not too far behind you. I emailed our ds3032 to NVC last Sept 7th and I got an auto response from them. We have yet to get a confirmation of acceptance/processing of it and I have since then sent them the hard copy thru fed ex last Sept 12th. That should reach them by Monday or Tuesday. My husband has also sent his AOS also on Sept 12th. I understand that NVC will only send the ds230's after they have received the AOS and the 3032 and the IV bill is paid. Any idea how long we would have to wait? I am hoping to be scheduled for interview mid December as my daughter wil be going on her Christmas break from school then and she has exams to deal with before that. We aren't exactly patient at this time, as I am sure most of us here are, if not all.

And good luck to you as well star_smile.gif
