Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Riots In Moldova
QUOTE (map1map @ Apr 13 2009, 03:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I had actually seen plenty of videos posted on youtube, read plenty of articles, seen plenty of live transmissions. What happen there is tragic.

On April 5th, Moldova held general elections. Surprising or not, the communist party won the elections (or so was declared a couple of days ago by the election bureau). The politic opposition accused the communist party that the result was fraudulent, that elections were defrauded. The politic opposition organized a meeting in the main square in Chisinau, on April 7, to publicly protest. The protest degenerated in violence. There is plenty of evidence posted on youtube, specifically by an independent online news journal called JurnalTV, about instigators, about the police breaking into pieces a concrete fence, the pieces were later used by protesters to trow into the official buildings.

Romanian journalists, as well as many Moldavian journalists (specifically the reporters and staff of the JurnalTV) were hunted, followed, filmed, some arrested in the streets, or simply taken down and thrown in cars and driven to Police stations where they were forced into having "free discussions" (you should read interrogations without representation), by peoples in plain street cloths, without identifying themselves as police officers or whatever official function they were representing.

Not only that, but students, children and women were hunted on the streets by these plain cloths police/security officers, taken out of their homes, beaten, interrogated, not allowed to have representations, lawyers, and many of them are still in prison. One of these young people died and was buried yesterday. The official version is that he was "intoxicated" with some sort of fume. The contusions on his face, head, body, were "simply scratches". Another one (Moldavian studying in France, he was in Chisinau to vote) was beaten for helping with translation for some journalists.

Those released from prison were handed to sign declarations that they were treated right, not beaten, they will not go again to protest in the streets.

After negotiations with the opposition, the president and the communist party requested the recount of votes. Which doesn't solve the problem of election fraud (persons that were dead, or children with physical and mental disabilities, or people that were not in the country, seem to appear on the lists of voters).

Meantime, the president of Moldova accused Romania, Romanian and Serbian citizens, as being the instigators of violence on April 7, where there is evidence of Moldavian police/security officers doing exactly that, instigation.

You might think I'm biased (cause I am Romanian). I only wish JournalTV would post on youtube translations into English of the footage they have.

See Map1Map,

I too have read exactly what you stated (English version). The corruption and chaos Moldova faces worries me. I still don’t want my fiancé to walk the streets alone for fear one of these “plain clothed men” might approach her for unjust reasons. I’m paranoid as it is (having a loved one so far away while trying to process the K-1 visa) but to have this out break occur only makes matters worse. Who knows if another riot will occur because of another fraudulent election? Worse yet…a possible civil war! Even though I have MANY concerns at this moment, one of my biggest is that the Moldovan government might try to revolt against the students by making immigration to other countries more difficult. Again, maybe I’m just being paranoid. But with the completion of the K-1 visa only about a month or two away…who wouldn’t be?!

I’m curious if anyone who has loved ones in Moldova have been keeping up with the news lately. I’m worried that these recent protest/riots could create problems with immigration to America. Has anyone heard anything regarding possible immigration conflicts because of these riots? My fiancé and I are waiting for our NOA 2 to clear any day now. I’m scared the problems that Moldova is having could create problems for us (trying to get her here).

In case you haven’t heard of the situation, here is a link to explain it. http://www.nytimes.c...ref=global-home

It seems to me that they don?t want to answer to my question. I never got back any answer from my consulate. I?ll just go ahead and get a new police certificate to make sure everything is correct and valid. It will take me another long wait in line, but that?s better than getting in troubles at the interview because of an expired PC.

Thank you for the answers.

Hey there,
I?m still waiting for my NOA2, which should arrive pretty soon. The problem is that my police record is expiring in a week (I did all my papers in advance). Shell I get another police record or this one would be fine for the interview? Did anybody experience this?

Yes. Her Doctor wrote a note stating her allergies prior to the medical exam.

CanadaGardasil, CR-1 Visa.
No. My fiancé had conflicting allergies with some of the components that are in Gardasil. During the medical, the doctor gave her a blanket waiver for the shot (Gardasil). The blanket waiver permitted her to get the visa without requiring her to get the shot (for now or AOS). Because this wavier was issued by an approved doctor, we didn’t have to pay for a thing.

I don't know much about the CR-1 visa but I know for the K1 they expect to see your completed immunizations at the AOS interview or something to that effect. If theres no follow up for the CR-1 than I would say you are in the clear if you only want to get the one shot.

My Fiancé just had her medical exam today. The doctor gave her a “blanket waiver” due to her past reactions to shots. So basically, she got all the required shots needed except Gardasil. The only thing I’m worried about is if this will delay the possibility of her getting the visa at the interview tomorrow (8-4-9). Hopefully this wont but there is also a possibility she might have to file for a I-693 “Examination and Vaccination Record”. I hope this will never have to happen!

I'm interested to hear how this turns out. Please let us know what they say about the banket waiver at the interview.

The blanket waiver worked fine! She never had to get the shot and was granted the visa!!! Whohoo!

Hey guys!

I’m new to visajourney.com (actually signed up today)! I’m replying to this post because I need some help/advise. I have just completed and sent all the paperwork for my fiancé’s K-1 Visa. In less than one month I will be traveling to see her in Moldova (her country). I’m worried that I might have to return to Moldova after visiting her to sign papers. Due to work/traveling expense, I can only afford to go once a year. Does anyone know if Moldova requires American citizens to travel to their country regarding the K-1 visa? If so, I need to hold off on purchasing my tickets to adjust properly. I need to get my tickets soon and I don’t know what to do!!! Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated! ohmy.gif)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAvoiding K-1 RFE(s)
Getting an RFE is a matter of following the instructions and not leaving anything out that is clearly listed as a requirement on the I-129F instructions. It's really the least of your worries in the process. Preparation for the interview is where the evidence of a bona fide relationship like pictures and communication evidence and most important evidence of spending time together is needed. The foreign fiance(e) needs not only to be prepared with evidence but prepared for the interview itself.

[/quote]

I guess there is no such thing as “too much” evidence for the interview. You’re right, after the petition has been sent; there is nothing you can do to avoid a RFE (if the information sent was incorrect). But correct me if I’m wrong, I don’t think the USCIS explains how much evidence they actually want when submitting your petition. Because of this, I started to worry that maybe we didn’t include enough evidence to support our relationship being bona fide within the past two years. Hopefully we followed the instructions, provided the evidence…and everything will be ok!

Thank you all for the replies!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAvoiding K-1 RFE(s)
Hey guys,

I was reading a lot of forums regarding RFE(s) and the reasons for them. One particular subject that caught my attention was the amount of physical “proof” we need to provide when submitting the K-1 visa. Probably, just like all of you, my fiancé and I have provided a LOT of proof for our relationship. However, I have read in some cases there has been a “lack of” proof when it comes to pictures and e-mails. What is the right amount of pictures/e-mails we should provide to avoid getting the RFE? Any knowledge you guys can provide can greatly benefit couples in this stressful process!

Thank you ohmy.gif)

I have a simple question...

The other day I received our NOA 2 in the mail (we are beyond excited). I’m just a little confused because the USCIS website still has us as being approved for the NOA 1. Is this normal? I would have thought the USCIS case status would have changed once we got approved for the NOA 2. Has anyone else experienced this? Does the status change once it goes to NVC?

I have just recently moved to a new house down the street from where I used to live. I know I need to fill out the I-865 form (Sponsor’s notice of change of address). However, I do have a concern about this. I have just submitted my 1-134 form to my fiancée. My old address is currently listed on the I-134. Will my fiancée run into difficulties during her interview since I changed addresses not shown on the I-134 form or any others (even though I’m about to file for the I-865)? Your advice would be greatly appreciated!

It will make no affect. She should enter your NEW address on her DS-156, DS-156k. Always give true and accurate answers at the times the forms are completed.

You do not need to submit an I-865 - this is something you would do if you have an I-864 on file (after you get married and file AOS).

Your fiance's interview should not be affected by your moving.

True, but how else would I let the USCIS know that I moved? After all, my old address is on all of our K-1 documents. When would be an appropriate time to file for the change of address?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresmedical blanket waiver?!?!
QUOTE (Kathryn41 @ Aug 3 2009, 07:55 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
That isn't necessarily true. I had a blanket waiver as well because I had had all of the vaccines that were medically appropriate or had in some instances, had the illness the vaccines prevented. I submitted just the worksheet with my AOS - did not submit the nedical transcription to the Vaccination form - and was approved without an RFE or any further requirement.

If a vaccine is not medically appropriate, you do not need to have it. If a vaccine is not age appropriate, you do not need to have it. A waiver means that you are waived from the need to have the vaccination. A blanket waiver means that you may have already met the necessary vaccination requirements suitable for your situation and do not need to do further vaccination. In many cases your AOS paperwork may be required even before you are able to complete a vaccination sequence. Experience from others on VJ seems to show that it is often enough to have started the sequence and not necessarily completed it to be sufficient for AOS purposes.

Regardless, if the medical you had overseas is less than a year old when you apply for AOS you DO NOT need to redo the medical. At the very most you will just need to have the appropriate additional vaccinations done and the information about the vaccinations transferred from the worksheet - or your own original records upon which the worksheet was based - to the medical form by a civil surgeon.

You guys have helped ease me! I started to really freak out over the blanket waiver. I think kathryn41 nailed it! My fiancé completed all of her required shots except for the one which was not required. Is there anything she has to do for the blanket waiver? Any certain forms or documents she will have to fill out prior to or during the interview?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresmedical blanket waiver?!?!
Hey guys,

Sorry to bother everyone again. I have another simple question. Currently, my fiancé is in Bucharest, Romania for her interview (tomorrow). She just sent me a text message stating that b/c of her history of allergic reactions to shots, the doctor has given her a blanket waiver for one of the shots for the interview. The details are sketchy (since it’s almost impossible to get a hold of her except the text message she sent me through the verizon website today). Will this waiver delay her possibility of getting a visa?! What exactly does this waiver do? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHow do they send/mail the P3 Interview packet?

I can't answer your question about the use of the mailing address, whether they will use native language or English. But, we were surprised to learn that with many embassies the full interview packet can be downloaded from links found on their website. In Bangkok there are links to these documents under the immigrant visa sections. You might try looking there on your embassy's website. I wish we had known this in advance, as we could have had everything ready when her application arrived at the embassy and filed the interview packet earlier.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionUnderstanding CEAC Status after Visa has been Approved

I am also trying to make sense of the status on CEAC. My fiance's interview was 22 June. The CO told her she passed the interview and everything was in order. But, that her birth certificate was not an official one showing the birth city. He gave her a 221(g) and told her to return that, her passport and an official birth certificate copy to the embassy and her visa would be issued within a short time. She obtained the document and send everything requested via registered mail to the embassy. They were received on 3 August. Now, on CEAC it shows AP. The date changes from time to time. It moved from 19 August to 23 August overnight last night. Based on what the CO said, everything should be in order. BUt, it's been three weeks tomorrow since the paperwork was received. Of course, leaving your mind idle, you can only think something is wrong. But, maybe not... It's very frustrating!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCase in Administrative Processing at Bangkok - Opinions?

Nid's visa was issued and she arrived at Washington Dulles Airport at 10:40 AM on September 12, 2013. It was one day short of being a full year since we first made application for her Visa. For me, it's unbelievable that she is finally here! I still feel like I should plan to call her on Skype when she wakes up. It takes so very long... I pray the next steps will be less painful, as we can remain together. I wish the best of luck to others stuck in this process!

I would suggest emailing the embassy, following the instructions they give on the embassy website with regards to putting your case number, etc. in the subject. Send the email to visasbkkiv@state.gov. Try to ask specific questions not just general status. If you don't receive a response call the embassy. My fiancé has a good number for this. They won't give you any information on phone, or let you speak with someone in the visa unit. But, they will suggest that you send email. When you tell them that you already have, and have not had a response, they will ask you for your case number and will tell you they will ask someone to look for your email and possibly respond. When my fiancé called like this, and provided this information, she received a email response within several hours. They also started looking at her case and it started moving again. If you need to do this, I can get the number she called and post it.

On calling state in DC, this is useful as they can look directly at your case and especially tell you if there is some problem. They can read all of the notes on the case file. If nothing is noted, they will just tell you to wait. I called them about once a week, as they suggested doing.

I hope this helps!

Today, we emailed the embassy to clarify the status as "Ready" on the CEAC website. They responded within about an hour as follows:

Please be informed that your visa is issued and will be mailed to the address provided at the interview which takes approximately 7 days.

So, for those looking for answers to how long it takes from submission of simple documents as a result of a 221(g) until they are reviewed and the visa should be issued, it seems to be just shy of a month at this time. I hope everything goes smoothly from this point forward! We are now considering whether or not we should make plane reservations several weeks out, allowing a little time for possible delays. Of course, the advantage of booking early are much better flight connections, lower cost and a nice choice of seats. These things all get worse if you wait until the last minute to book.

Update:

My fiance called the embassy this morning to a number one of her friends who encountered similar problems gave her. While the lady on the other end of the line couldn't provide any status information, when my finace told her she had already emailed several weeks ago and hadn't received a response, she took her case number and said she would ask someone to respond to these emails. Surprisingly, we both received an email response today confirming they had received her documents. They also said these items were "under review" and we should have a response soon. They also updated the CEAC status to "Ready." This didn't make sense, as this says it means you are ready for your interview. Seeing this, I checked with State here in the U.S. to make sure we weren't missing something. I was told there that this was a mistake, it should still show "Administrative Processing." If this doesn't change my finace might call the embassy again tomorrow and inquire about this. I don't know if intermally they work off of paper packets being placed in someone's inbox, or if they use a computer queue to tell them who's case is next. We worry that if the status is incorrect in their computer they will be waiting for something from us and nothing will happen. So, it's probably better if the status is correct. We hope everything will be approved soon!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCase in Administrative Processing at Bangkok - Opinions?

Hi rrokitta,

Thanks for your posting and information! So, it looks like it took them about a month to respond to you.

I called the Department of State here in the U.S. at 202-663-1225.... press 1 then 0. They have visa specialist there who can access your record with the case number. They can't answer questions like "when." But, they can read all of the notes on your file and tell you if something is wrong. In our case, they said everything looked OK and we are just waiting in the queue. They suggested calling back once a week and checking if there had been any change.

Of course, the problem is that you have no idea how long this queue is and how long it can take to navigate it, even if everything is in perfect order. Like you, many things are on hold or in a state of limbo. After all, pulling up roots and relocating to a new country is a pretty significant undertaking, especially considering that she will not be able to return to take care of any business for at least a year while her green card is pending or risk refusal for rentry (even if she was granted parole.) My fiance owns property there and intends to keep it. So, there is a lot to manage. I feel your pain with regard to the pregnancy. That is certainly something that won't wait. I suspect if the child is born, your fiance won't want to leave it with the parents for its first year, or more, and move to the U.S. So, if they delay until after the birth you will have a whole new raft of paperwork to be processed. Wow! Good luck!

I would like to find more readers who would comment on the processing time recently experienced between returning the 2219(g) requested documents and action. I guess most who have had a satisfactory resolution (ie got their visa already) are happy and no longer plying the waters of these boards, but rather happy and married to their significant others in the U.S. But, if you have first hand knowledge of the recent processing times we are discussing, I would really appreciate a reply. There are a lot of other people looking for this information, too.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCase in Administrative Processing at Bangkok - Opinions?
It's more understandable if we were missing some important financial documents, proof of relationship, or other items which need to be carefully examined. But, all we needed was an official copy of a birth certificate. The CO indicated this was just a formal requirement. What worries us is that there is no record of her passport and other documents even being received after almost a full month. Her passport, in particular, is a pretty important document. If this is lost it will be a big problem for us. We don't have reason to believe that has happened. But, it does seem they would promptly receive these documents and add them to her file and case notes.

On quitting her job, I am sorry you have this problem. My fiancé also did this. But, she teaches and had to renew her commitment for another three months as of August 1 or resign. She could have stayed and just walked out. But, professionally that's not proper. She owns her own car, condo, etc. If this doesn't resolve soon she will need to take another job to meet her obligations there. Though, relative to living expenses here in the US, things are cheap there, these costs are significant long term.

Sadly, this can go on for many months. On her Facebook group of friends seeking visas the longest was eleven months.

What I had asked here is of others who have had this experience in Bangkok how long does it usually take for them to pick up the file again?

No luck so far. I sent an email to the address recommended. I also called the State Department visa information line today. The visa specialist there said everything looked in order. The notes said the interview went very well, but, even though Thai Post shows the documents were delivered on August 3, they have not been added to the record yet. My concern is that they may have been lost. There is no way to tell unless the visa unit will respond to my email and confirm their receipt.

Thanks for your reply Karee!

I have written to the embassy twice, as well as my fiance has written twice. I wrote and asked them simply to confirm that they have received everything. We first used the address visasbkk@state.gov and then visasiv@state.gov. We received an autoresponse from the first address and nothing from the second. The second address was the one given when you call or look on their website. We put the subject line like you suggested. We wrote first about a week ago and once early this week. But, so far we have no responses. I will try the address you suggested if nothing changes by early next week.

I hope everything is ok. The interview went well and the CO said he only needed the birth certificate. How long did it take for you to receive your visa after they received your additional documents? This coming Monday will be three weeks since the first working day there after everything was received.
