Si yo fuera tu llamaría a NVC todos los días para ver que esta pasando con tu caso, por que veo que ya hace 6 meses que sometiste todo el papeleo a NVC, usualmente toma como 5, a 6 meses para obtener una visa K1.

Asia: East and PacificFinally, just got DS230

It usually takes about 2 weeks. Make sure that you read and comprehend all questions. Example box 20, write the dates whenever she got her 16th birth date. Mi wife’s was return because of this stupid box. Do not leave any dates blank.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)I-864 missing doc = DS-230
I got the same letter from NVC and I did send it with the cover letter of missing documents that sent me. I spoke with an NVC operator 2 days ago and she told me that my DS-230 was received and that they are processing the documents right now. If everything is fine, the package it’s going directly to US Embassy, in Managua Nicaragua.

Is NVC asking for the DS-230 in this letter? Because I already sent the payment of $380, but checking my records today. I noticed that I did not write Department of State, I wrote on the USPS Money Order Payable to NATIONAL VISA CENTER. I guess that is the reason that I got this letter recently. What do you think?

Call the IRS, and ask them to send you transcripts of the last three years and that is better than sending the W2’S.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWife raped
I feel she is not telling you the whole truth, but what can you do? when you are really in love, you are totally blind. Later on when you find out what happened, you are already screwed. I knew of a case similar to yours. The person brought his wife to America then in three years she became US Citizen and end up living her husband and bringing the person who she claimed was the person who raped her. If I were you, I would go to camping and meditate about what happened? Ask God to help you decide what to do next?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTaxes for 2006, wife not living in the US declared in 1040
I am petitioning for my wife living in Nicaragua, so far we are at the second stage where she already got her NVC case #. Right now, I am filling the form I-184 to send it to NVC, but I was wondering about my 2007 taxes.

I would like to know if what I did would affect the visa for my wife. I called IRS a few months ago and I asked them if I could put my wife in form 1040, even though she was living in Nicaragua, and they told me if I was married to her since August 2006, I could do it. They even provided me with an ITIN # for her. Does she also need to sign the Authorization for Release of Federal Tax Data? Or should I send it just with my signature?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview Time
In about how many days does my wife should get her interview after NVC Okays DS-230? What would they ask her?
I will send all the documentation that goes with the DS-230, to NVC as soon as I get all the paperwork from my wife back in Nicaragua. After NVC receives this paperwork in about how many days, will they send the package to Managua Embassy? Will it be a good idea to be there at my wife’s interview date?
Many have said that I should be there at my wife’s interview. What do you people think? On my part, I would like to be there but I have to make the dough to support the whole deal, but if that helps I would have to try to be there by her side.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI MADE A MISTAKE SENDING DS-230 IN ADVANCE
I am sorry I have not replied to any of your comments, but I haven’t been home for 2 weeks now. I just wanted to update you about the letter I received a few weeks ago. I told my wife to download the form DS-230 fill it up and send it to me. I sent all the documentation pertaining to this case to NVC on 09/01/2007. Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Police Report, and Biodata of my wife’s passport all these documents were authenticated by The Electoral Supreme Council of Managua, Nicaragua. One of my friends here in Los Angeles, California did the translations. I was worried that I sent all documents without cover letter, but tonight I called the NVC and they said, “Not to worry about the cover letter, that they got all the documents on 09/07/2007, and if everything is right it is going directly to the US Consulate in Managua, Nicaragua. Therefore, I guess this cake is already baked!
Thank you very much for all the help that you guys have provided me with.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI MADE A MISTAKE SENDING DS-230 IN ADVANCE
Help please!
I realized that I made a mistake sending form DS-230, and pertaining documentation well ahead of time. I sent all these documents on 09/01/2007 overnight delivery; I sent the documents because I received a letter from NVC that goes like this:
_____OF-230-I: __________________________________________________________
The NVC has received the requested Affidavit of Support (I-864). However, we are still waiting for the Immigrant Visa fees(s). Please submit the fee(s) according to the instructions on the IV fee bill sent to you from NVC. If you have not received an IV fee bill, please contact NVC. Do not pay fees unless you have the accompanying IV fee bill, as this will result in a delay in processing your case.

When I saw OF-230-I, I thought they were asking me for the DS-230 and the rest of documents already, but today I read everything carefully and I understood they were only asking for the Immigrant Visa fee. What can I do now? Should I write to NVC to send me the documentation back? Alternatively, should I wait and see what happens? Anyway, I sent the IV fee payment on 08/10/2007; they should have received it on 08/11/2007.

Help! What should I do?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-230, SENT BACK TO ME
Hey guys,
Once again, I need your help! Form DS-230, was sent back to me because on line 2 Other Names Used or Aliases (if married woman, give maiden name). I wrote my wife’s whole name. In Central America, people use four names, that’s why I wrote her four names. NVC circled that as missing information. Should I write NONE? On box 20, I did not write the date when she lived there, because she still lives there. Should I write PRESENT? Or write today’s date.

By the way, in Nicaragua married women don’t use their husband’s last name.

To tell you the truth I am frustrated because my wife’s case was completed on 10/12/2007, and still no word if they are doing something about it. I have been calling NVC every single day and all they tell me is. You have to wait 8 weeks, and then if nothing has happened in 8 weeks then you give us a call. The way every thing is happening, I guess she might get her interview in January, or February of 2008.

Hi Rachel!
I did translate marriage certificate, police records, and wife’s birth certificate. She just sent me all the originals authenticated by The Supreme Electoral Council in Managua, and one of my friends signed all the documents. As long as he, she writes the following:

I John Nero, certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and Spanish languages, and the above/ attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled (name of document) for example, Birth certificate

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresBinder with proof of Bonafide
My wife will have her interview on 12/24/2007, and I was wondering how to arrange a binder with all the documentation pertaining to our case. Since NVC already sent all original documents to the Embassy, I guess I only need proof of Bonafide Marriage.

The way I am putting everything together is as follows:

1) Photos of our wedding with family and friends
2) Telephone, emails, and IM, records
3) Remittances sent
4) Times when I visited my wife in Nicaragua

That's all I can think of right now. I will appreciate, if you have any more comments, or suggestions.
