Hello everyone!!!!! How is the weekend so far?

I feel so happy today because I finished some academic projects, AND I took my 7 year old to the state fair.

The 4-H kids never cease to amaze me. It seemed a lot less busy this year and not as many vendor showed up... the economy really is strange lately!! I would have gotten out of there with only spending a few bucks, but I lost $16 out of my pocket. Maybe someone else there really needed a gift from the ??? wink.gif

Staying busy has felt really good. I didn't get a chance to complain about the process at all today. Yay!!! Maybe I will get married Valentine's Day weekend instead of New Years Day weekend. At least neither one of us would have to worry about forgetting an anniversary!

Hi Everyone,

So I went back to USCIS.GOV and looked at my case online and it said that it is "initial review"

so i scrolled over that to see what it meant and it said that petitioner/applicant is getting their background checked.

So that's a good thing right? Are all of yours under "initial review" too?

So it looks like they are processing background checks now.

That's good b/c I was under the impression that they were doing nothing right now b/c they haven't even gotten to July filers.

OMG! Yay!! That's exactly what it says on mine as well. I'm glad they made it more visually appealing. I needed a little pick me up since my sister moved out of state yesterday. sad.gif Life is stressful lately!!

As far as the text messages??? OHH NO! I'd sign up but I'd be afraid I might cause an accident if I get that while I'm driving. Better to not know maybe.

Or I could put my mom's number on there and she could be instructed to only tell me to check the site! =D She's as excited as I am about my fiance getting here. When my sister said she wasn't coming back for my moms retirement party in December my mom told her it was ok because at least she'd have Dave!

So USCIS's site is down. I decided to call and talk to someone even though I knew they couldn't tell me anything. He couldn't even look up the processing timelines today. It will like USCIS operators couldn't do a single thing besides write down my name and receipt numbers with a pencil.

So... I made the decision that I was going to compile a list of suggestions and call them back with them. Here's what I got so far:

1) Don't let the systems be down.
2) Onsite cafeteria at CSC. Let them eat at their desk and approve more files.

3) Use the $455 to actually get the applications processed. Spend less money on storing them, and more money on having people review and approve them.
4) A bonus system for employees that make the most YES decisions.
5) Ban Facebook and online forums on the firewalls, those things are such time wasters wink.gif

I was hoping to come up with some goofy ones.. but my brain isn't working right now. Anyone have anything off the top of their head?

Nevermind, as long as I find something else to talk about it might be ok... Geez this sucks today. I always feel a lot better when I actually speak to him on the phone, but TMobile charging me $.69 a minute is not fun. I wish my ####### fiance wasn't so opposed to skyping.

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening all
AS we are just 12 days away from the much awaited month of october i am sure every julier must be exited as i am but on the other side i am bit tense after reading a post couple of days back on VJ about a lady srewing medical test by admitting to the doctors that she used Marjuana once some four years back and if i remember correctly she was told by the doctors to visit a Psycheterist. Well the problem with me is i ve been smoking Pot regularly from couple of months and i am not sure is Dope test included in the medical tests for visa application. Please share your knowledge with me.

Thanks

If they don't ask, don't tell them. I would never VOLUNTEER any medical info. It's just a body after all!! As long as you're generally healthy and not going to bring in any infectious diseases than I dont see why they would wnat to ask anything else.

Perspective ....

Pessimistic: Practically no progress this week, probably one of the worst weeks through this journey

Optimistic: at least some noa2's this week ...maybe some haven't posted

Which one do you all fall under???

At the present moment: I'm quite the pessimistic.

mad.gif

Pessimistic by far!!!!!!!! But we don't know what the weekend is going to bring. Wasn't it similar to this last week and we had no clue if anyone got approved? It seems like CSC is not alerting for a day or two. crying.gif

So... I went over the July 2008 CSC thread... they were all receiving NOA2s from Nov-Feb. So at least we can feel good about getting our NOA2s in October HOPEFULLY.

Here's a post I loved from them.... "Well... maybe I'm the odd one here, but I think it's crazy that there's a K1 visa at all. Since there's still AOS to make it legal to stay afterwards, there's already something in place to check backgrounds, do interviews, etc. I think it's cruel and unusual punishment by our government to keep me apart from the person I want to marry and charge me a ton of money to do it. And think of the people on K3/K2... that's even worse, keeping people from their own current family members! I'd advocate ditching this stupid K system all together and allow adjusting from visitor visas.... but that's just me.
"

It's interesting to go through and see what they were going through mid-Sept. If you're ever really bored and lonely I'd suggest it. Not that I'm admitting to being bored and lonely. That was last week... and now all of you girls are in the same spot I was when I came home from being with him. sad.gif

(wondering - are people soooo damn happy that they haven't had time to update igor's list??? or has csc taken a vacation??)

Besides the theory that they are just doing background checks and such to get another large batch of files ready to be adj-whatever, I think it might be possible that they work with a mid-month closing instead of the end of the month. It might explain why they report processing times mid-month.

So perhaps they are busy doing some number crunching. Since there are hundreds of thousands of people in a long queue or lottery system waiting for some difficult-to-obtain-kind-of-visa to be reunited with family, maybe midmonth is when new numbers become available. That would explain what the CSC agents are focusing their time on instead of approving our applications that we submitted only 2 months ago.

Oh how I love to speculate!!

I think it was LoveWaits that had a theory that CSC goes quiet for awhile and they must be doing the background checks with the FBI, then BOOM a huge period of approvals. biggrin.gif It might be a slow week because they are getting a bunch more work done to get July files to the point of being ready for adjunctation. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Ok so I need to share something with you guys ...Just finished spending my lunch on the phone with him ...and it wasn't that great. Not great in the sense of i could tell something was bothering him but it took a little while to get it out of him. Apparently, everyone he talks to is telling him not to come here. the main issue apparently is that they keep saying how there is no life and all you will do is work. And my theory is - yeah you have to work ...but everyone there keeps filling him with all this negative stuff and it is truly so frustrating. They have their reasons and he assured me that he has decided to come and if he doesn't then he would regret it completely. He is so used to living so comfortably and not worrying about anything ..and in california and much of the states work is our main thing and like you said everything is fast paced.

I can tell you that this was a BIG issue for me when I came back from Germany. I've always told friends and family here that the big difference between the US and Europe is in America we live to work, and in Europe people work to live. To give you an idea, I had 6 weeks paid vacation from Day 1 of my job in Germany plus 29 public holidays a year. Add that all together and realize how much time you get for yourself smile.gif I've been back now almost a year and I'm still not use to working so much. I really really miss being able to take 3 or 4 weeks off in summer plus all the little holidays here and there. So sorry to say, it will be difficult for those coming from Europe... but there are also many positives to balance things out not to mention your love for one another. There is a much better selection of sports/fitness here than I had overseas. I gained almost 20lbs over there, okay the great beer didn't help but it was so complicated to join sports/leagues. Here I have endless opportunities and all are very affordable. The US is a melting pot so there are communities for just about every corner of the globe in most major cities, you can't find that so easily in Europe.

Just be realistic about everything, prepare for the things you know will be difficult and work through them together. Its about all I can say. My big problem has been everyone in Russia telling her how great America is and what a paradise and all this nonsense. I keep telling her all the bad things and not to listen to these people smile.gif (She always says; "You want me to come or not?" biggrin.gif ). I just tell her straight up because I don't want anything to be a shock, either good or bad. I guess the big things that are important for us that I've tried to explain is our healthcare (this will be a shock for Europeans as well, unless they had private insurance) and education. She has a gifted son, very smart boy and I know the public school in my area isn't up to challenging him...but we've already selected a private school hopefully.

You know what it is too - I was not born here ... I came to the states when I was 10 years old - so I keep putting myself in his shoes based on my own experiences but I have to remember that everyone will end up with their own impressions and experiences. So I know I have certain things that I think may be an issue for him by moving here but perhaps I may be totally surprised and what bothered me when I moved here may completely be a nonissue for him!!!

All this therapy today and still no progress on IGOR!!!!! uggggghhhhh mad.gif

thank God there is no quota as to how many times someone can post in a forum!!! hahahaha sorry everyone sad.gif

Just remember that nothing is ever permanent. Let him know that living in LA is the immediate goal, but it doesnt have to be like that forever. Maybe you two can plan to move back or retire to an area similar to what he is use to in 10-20 years.

I have been in an ornery place with my fiance lately too. It's hard being so far away and occasionally I let things get to me. It will be good experience for when we are married if we have little disagreements now. He keeps telling me to stop torturing myself and him with the Igor's list obsession and wanting him to tell me when he plans to be here. So I just need to keep that quiet for awhile wink.gif
Jewel-8FemaleScotland2009-09-15 17:28:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJuly 2009 Filers
Instead of hearing about the I-129 or seeing Igor's list update today, I have received TWO emails about the government being awesome. First, my 7 year olds passport is in the mail. Second, the career lady at the state university sent out an email to let us know the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency is hiring auditors.

Not exactly what I cared to hear today because we dont need the passport anytime soon and I cant apply for that level of job for at least another semester. I guess when I wish for something to hurry up (ie. the government to get work quicker) I should be more specific.

Love Waits - good tips. My sweetie is moving from Scotland to Salt Lake City. Kind of a big difference. He won't have any pubs to crawl home from. rofl.gif

I think the biggest thing for him will be getting a job. He has great work ethics and gets ahead where he is now. Then he comes home and makes fun of me for spending my work day on Facebook and this forum. innocent.gif He should be fine since the house needs to be painted and the bathrooms remodeled. I'm hoping the improvements and XBox keep him busy until the EAD comes through.

I might try cooking some British dishes, but Im not sure I can make the few things I liked over there.

Happy to report - that perhaps all of our timelines went back to the original date?!
Just checked mine and it went back to approval between 17th-24th! good.gif

Definately looking good! I still see last weeks approvals trickling in. Its making me think that the email system might not work and that people only know about their NOA2s once they get them in the mail.

The 3rd week of the last two months had 38 and 29 approvals, the 4th week had 55 and 36. If they stick to this pattern we might see out NOA2s by Oct 1st. I really hope so!!! Source of data is here.. http://cse.ssl.berke...data/stats.aspx

Anyhow, I hope we see the June approvals pour in over the next few days because it will mean we're that much closer. biggrin.gif

BTW, the USCIS just updated their time frames today and it is still seeming as though they are reporting conservatively. I like that we get to see that people that filed only a month before us are already getting NOA2s biggrin.gif

Funny thing is - i rarely check my own timeline - I just obsess over the website to see if our file got touched and igor's list. But I just got home and since you mentioned timelines i looked at mine and noticed that my dates have been updated too. Now it says october 17-october 30. If i remember correctly, mine before said 17-25th i think.

Is this a bad thing?? unsure.gif

I am hoping we get a NOA2 by 10/5. I am really hoping he comes for New Years.. but who knows if he actually will even if he has the visa in hand by 12/5. Everything is so hard to plan and I understand how crazy it will be for him to give notice to the landlord, give notice to work, and to sell everything he can't bring. I'm guessing it might be hard for the non-USC to not know when they will be packing up and leaving.

If CSC keeps doing 25-30 a week we will be getting NOA2s in two weeks I imagine biggrin.gif

ahhh man... looks like i go through watching you all get the NOA2's first lol.. however if you are getting them it means it wont be long for me hopefully...

how exciting!!

Not necessarily, Seany! If we've learned anything here at VJ, it's that chronological order of NOA1's unfortunately doesn't come into play with approvals, right? If it did there wouldn't be people getting approved in three months, and others waiting six.

I've read theories that some people think it's the luck of the draw of whose pile you end up in at CSC. That some adjudicator's work faster, some may pick ones first that are "easier" to adjudicate. (whatever that means lol)

I really do wish they went in chronological order. In addition to being FAIR (Pollyanna of me, I know), we would all really know roughly when we would be approved. Even if we had to wait a little longer while they went through everyone in order, it would be worth it, in my opinion, to know the real time span of our adjudication. The not knowing is what makes me crazy wacko.gif

sorry...just some Saturday morning, coffee drinking, babbling on my part... laughing.gif

Long story short... you never know, Seany... you could be first!

Right.. I dont think the NOA2 dates mean nearly as much to me as POE dates. I also hope we track that info and get a chance to encourage each other through interviews!

There's not many of us at CSC in July. I'm kind of surprised that only 10 of us have made it on the forum list so far. FYI, anyone can feel free to reformat, add to, and edit the "list." to add their screen name, NOA2 or interview dates. wink.gif

So good to know that I am not the only one that is OCD about this process. The things that cross my mind and the fact that I look at Igor's list at least 5 times a day cannot be healthy! But I truly can't help it bc i feel like so much of it is out of my control and all I have is Igor's list, uscis.gov, and you guys! smile.gif

I have no idea what to say about female filers...never thought about that actually. But you do make an interesting point as to fraud and women filers...

Today I talked to someone and he told me it could take up to 6 months - which obviously totally brought down my spirits ... major downer.

I keep hoping that we will all be lucky and get by end of september early October.. sigh.

You know what it is - I feel like my life is on pause ever since I started this process. I keep thinking - once he gets here my life will start...

Ok - sorry to keep rambling ...hope every one is doing well!!

Really - thank God for this forum.

OMG, no. I obsess and obsess. He has put a ban on my bringing up the subjects: the wedding, the visa, and anything to do with dates. He thinks I'm making myself sick.. and I am!!

So the less he wants to talk about these things the more I NEEEED TO! heh... I'm really getting on his nerves about this stuff, so this is good practice for when we get married. Him seeing me at my worst, and me finding out what his limits are. biggrin.gif

Once he gets here your life will start? I sometimes think that too.... For me I think my life will start to swing from really F'ing awesome to really difficult because I'm going to have to figure out what happens when you live with someone that isn't family. wink.gif This major process is quite the learning experience. It will be worth it soon though. I am really hoping he will be here for New Years.

I just took a glance at the June filers that have been approved, and I noticed that of the 21 that are approved on the list only one of them is identifiable as a female petitioner. I think that we have more women than men posting on this thread so I just wanted to throw that out there and see if anyone else wants to make speculations about CSC. wink.gif

It something I can plug into minitab and analyze if I get bored enough... so it's probably good that I'm taking a billion classes right now and the only free time I have is when I'm stuck at work. jest.gif

On another note, 18 of the 54 still pending for June are probable female petitioners... but many of the names are hard to tell, and the initials are probably women but there is no real way of knowing.

So it seems male petitioners might be approved quicker than female petitioners... Maybe they think more greencard fraud might occur via female USCs? I'm just speculating to pass the time. Not meaning to upset anyone. If I pissed you off with this really random post than ignore it! wink.gif

I definately wish things were getting approved a lot quicker! The first week and a half of each month has less approvals at CSC, but it seems midmonth is "cracking". wink.gif

Yesterday we hit 60 days since our NOA1. So I tried to comfort myself (and him) by saying "There, we're 3/4 of the way through the wait." But then it only meant maybe another 1/3, or 30 days to go. Or worse. Ohhhhh, the ones who get held up for months and months scare me so badly!

He does so much better than I do. Inherently so much more patient. I wish I had his British sensibility smile.gif

we ARE getting there...(although i will be towards the end of you all in theory) just think its all of US next! i just want to wish you all the best and i truly hope it all goes smoothly

Oh my goodness! You sound like me roughsweet! My british (Scottish!) guy is a pain too! I hate how they're so sensible... No planning wedding stuff until we have the visa?? I think that's horrible wink.gif And the answer to the when can we **** **** questions is always "when we are financially ready" .... right!!!!

I keep trying to get him to commit to coming December 27th since he wants to spend one more christmas with his family... but he's having none of it when I try to pin him down to dates after this last trip. I thought London embassy was suppose to be the easiest to work with when you have concrete travel plans... too bad I can't make him agree to what I have in mind. I did however get him to say January 8th sounded like a good day to have our wedding. Even though he won't stick to it now I am going to hold him to it!!!

thats so funny! i've just been giving the whole when we are financially ready talk haha!! however I can say I have agreed a date for the wedding since it is booked near enough paid off now. Refreshing to hear the above though :-)

I've decided his idea of 'financially ready' is BS.. I want! I want! I want NOW!

ONLY JOKING!!!! If I have my degree by Dec 2010 and my credit cards paid off, then we will be financially ready by MY standards. wink.gif I think he should be ok with it as long as he doesn't realize that it would eventually be cutting into his Xbox time. rofl.gif

Yeah, this weekend definitely did drag on and on. I'll be so glad when he's finally here and I can enjoy a long weekend again and not simply look at it as three days off at CSC! laughing.gif

We should all take a trip to Vegas! haha
I know the minute he lands I'm going directly either to CA city hall to get married or a quick trip to Vegas (Since he has never been to Vegas) Might be a nice welcome to America shock for him. good.gif

So just wanted to wish you all a great week! I think we are reaching the point where anything can happen. I just hope none of us get any RFE's or get lost in the shuffle somewhere!!! star_smile.gif

This weekend seemed to drag on too much...and I don't know if anyone else felt the same way - But I had to chuckle a few times when I thought to myself and said "ok - there is nothing you can do but enjoy your weekend b/c even USCIS is out this weekend!" smile.gif So it is a new week ...and I never thought I would look forward to "Business day" ...

Let's hope USCIS comes back relaxed and refreshed to process some July Apps!!! smile.gif yayyyy...

And thank God for all of you b/c every time I get depressed, it helps knowing I'm not alone and all of you are going through the same process.

Have a wonderful Tuesday!!!! kicking.gif

Yes, you're not the only one having crying jags at work because your sweetie is far far away. LOL! That's somewhat comforting I suppose.

Welcome to our July "Sufferers" thread smile.gif

We're hoping for a January wedding too, fingers and toes crossed. Since Chicago is horribly cold in January we might actually try to arrange a ceremony out west... Vegas? biggrin.gif

I live too close to Vegas for it to sound romantic to me. Maybe I can convince him to get married in San Diego instead of just at the Salt Lake courthouse. biggrin.gif

Just a quick question,
did any of you notice a touch in your case yet? I am just dying to receive an e-mail about our case, but so far it seems as if I got to be patient. Yarrr.. it's just so hard to wait when I want to be with Wade so badly!

Last Updated: 07/22/2009 sad.gif It's only been a few weeks.. and we have several more to go! It's hard sometimes to be so far away, but it will be over soon.

Hi everyone!

I've been a member of this site since june, and a lurker here even longer and I can't believe I haven't seen this thread until now! So nice to meet other people who are in the same boat as Wade and myself. We filed july 15, and our timeline says we might get our NOA2 between october 16-20. It sounds incredible fast, so we're hoping the estimation is correct. It's such a drawnout process, so lets hope for a smooth journey for all of us july 09 filers

Kristin

Welcome!! I filed just a couple of days after you! Hopefully time will fly and we'll have our sweeties hear by the new year.

As of right now, Dave needs to get his birth certificate and police record in hand.. and I need to send him a signed aff. of support as soon as we get our NOA2.. I already gave him the IRS papers and my W2s last time I was there. Can anyone think of anything else?

With the way CSC has been going, I wouldn't be suprised if we started getting NOA2s within 4-6 weeks!!!

Jeez, I hate how the CSC drags their heels at the beginning of the month.

They've been doing so amazingly well lately, we've all jumped so many spaces on Igor's, and they're clearly processing June apps! And catching up on old OLD cases, which THRILLS me! Those people deserve approval more than anyone!!

So, why did I wake up and check Igor's this morning, and feel so deflated when we didn't move?

This whole process messes with your mind so much. Each little sign of hope or despair, it's ridiculous!

More than anything... I guess I'm just really, really missing Neil today. sad.gif

Sorry for the blahs post, guys. But if you all don't understand who will, right? Isn't that why we have a July CSC group, to celebrate and commiserate with each other?

That's exactly how I felt when I checked today!! Dave and I just spent 2 weeks together and are now hoping to be able to get married the first part of January. Now we're out of money to go visit each other and need to start saving for the big move and the wedding reception. *tick*tick*tick*tick*

Of course!! We also need to get lots of pictures! Definately making up for lost time and going to take picture the whole trip. I'm jealous of those with the cutesy pictures sometimes because most of ours are just us drunk in Vegas... and I had braces at the time.

Just think, we'll be the ones posting wedding pics sometime early next year. biggrin.gif

I'm hoping some of us see something happen in September. Hey rough sweet, what city in the UK are you or your significant other in? I will be in London next Friday, then Edinburgh to see my sweetie on Sunday.

YAY! CSC picked back up. It seems almost 25% of May filers on Igor's list have NOA2s... when it gets over 50% then June should start getting approvals.... I'm always so happy when the dates being approved get a lot closer to ours!!

It looks like CSC finally got their @#*$ into gear last week!! wink.gif In glancing at the numbers, it seems that CSC does a lot of K1 approvals midmonth while VSC does them at the ending and beginning of each month. Maybe it is how the workload is setup? Different priorities at each location??

Anyone else wondering if it's Igor's List or CSC that has had a bump in the road this week??? I'm feeling slightly disheartened to not be flying up the list like I was the last part of July.

Only 13 more days until I leave on vacation to see my sweetie, so at least that is something to bring a little bit of cheer!!

A CSC petition that was mailed in July was just approved. Hopefully they have hired some new people and are training them on how to process I129s quickly? wishful thinknig!!

Congrats to Beatriz even though she hasnt posted on this thread before.

Good luck to the rest of us!! kicking.gif

Thanks roughsweet! It looks as though SO FAR we have THREE July 09 posters that will be going through London and TWO that will be going through Moscow. Just wanted to point that out. I havent heard much about the Moscow consulate, but while reading through the UK Regional board I have learned alot about London. Maybe some of us will be at the consulate the same day! biggrin.gif

Any tips of fighting jetlag? I only have one experience with going to Europe and my experience during the first few days was horrible. sad.gif

I know I don't belong here b/c I am a VSC filer, and will unfortunately be WEEKS behind all of you in the process...but, when I fly, I pop 3 Tylenol PM about 10 - 11 hours before expected landing in the foreign country (not sure if that is considered an overdose or not?). This allows me to sleep soundly through anything, completely unaware of my drooling on my neighbor until landing. whistling.gif

Hey Kristin!!

I was thinking I would take one of my prescriptions. The last leg of my flight takes off at 8 pm and lands at about noon in London. 9 hour flight!! I can bring the report from a jaw pain specialist in case they question my bringing pills into the country. After 9 hours I hope it will have worn off enough to not make me too loopy to get through customs.

Going east does seem tougher!! The good thing about all this is that in 6 months we'll all be with our sweeties, or at least VERY close to being with them!! Then hopefully there will be a lot less west-east, north-south travel... PLUS, we wont have to wait up all night and lose sleep just to say hi!
