You can add us to that list too please :P Albeit this wait is a killer!

Hey, you should get a date soon hopefully, your p3 was logged on the same day as mine...

Oh wait, looking at the date you sent it... is that the date they received it at the embassy or the date they actually logged it? Took them nearly a month to log mine.

Hey Guys!

We got an interview date but it's not until 19th April (8:00). Ricky is estatic because we have the date and I was hoping for March. But really for not good reasons considering I don't want to leave until the end of July anyway! lol

We have a date :)

I sent packet 3 back on january 25th and it was received and signed for on the 27th. But then this morning I got a letter dated 2nd Feb from the embassy, saying they haven't heard anything from me and do I still want to continue with my visa application?! I was really worried so called the expensive number only to be told by an operator that, due to a high backlog of applications, cases aren't showing up in the system for up to four weeks. So I'm not supposed to worry.

Just came on here to rant and see if anyone else has had the same thing happen. Still waiting on an interview date. We got stuck in AP at the NVC for three months so really hoping things don't keep dragging now they're in London. Oh, and my medical is on Tuesday!

I had the same thing happen and posted in another thread..I also called the expensive line but when I called they stated that my papers were logged the next day (but before I received the letter). I think it was due to the fact that the NOA2 had an expiry date of 22 Jan. I calmed down alot after that lol. Good luck with your medical.

Argh, I'm convinced the DOS folks have no clue sometimes...

Today I was told that David is now eligible for an interview! ...even though I was told many, many times that that was on December 17th after I sent the documents on December 2nd. Apparently they just "received" my documents on December 17th.

My guess is that the London USE just made a notation that they're going to assign David an interview date this week or next.

Anyone else calling DOS like I do??

Yes, me! I'm trying not to call them until next week Thursday now. I called on Wednesday and no date yet.......

Those people at DOS sound like they work from home to me lol. ItT really does not sound like a call centre or any kind of business environment..I better stop before I say something rude :hehe:

David's here yay! But he doesn't understand my obsession with calling DOS everyday...hmm. :)

Reporting day 2 of February, no interview scheduled yet...anyone else who calls them and gets their interview date for Feb/March post here please!

Hey, I'm waiting for my date also but I'm sure I'll have to move it as I want it after the 9th March (travelling prior to this). I've all but given up calling DOS as I can NEVER get to talk to anyone. Are you managing to actually speak to someone??

I ended up calling the extortion line to see if my packet was logged as I couldn't get through but I'm not even nearly that concerned about my interview date as I know that when I get the date i'm going to be a wreck leading up to it lol.

United Kingdompolice certificate & court report

ok thanks thats excellent. i followed the link and i think i know what to do now... i will apply for a subject access straight away and then a police certificate in a few weeks time and see what they both say. if my police certificate shows 'no live trace' i will then take my subject access to the magistrates court and get a Memorandum of Conviction which is what we call court records. then i will take the Memorandum of Conviction and the subject access (to show there are no other offences) to interview... simple lol :)

The police certificate took a few weeks. I also requested a subject access after I received the certificate and it came within a week (don't know if it was because I recently requested the certificate). I got a subject access a few years ago and that took about 5 or 6 weeks.

Either way I had no trace on the certificate and nothing on the subject access - I was a bit unsure of something so I wanted to be definitive!

United KingdomYes!! It's another shipping thread

After going with Seven Seas i'd say that i'll not use them again. They stated a 14 day delivery time. I've already been in the USA for 4 weeks and the items haven't even arrived stateside. It'll be a further 2 weeks once until i get them once they do.

That's terrible. Did they at least give you a tracking number? I didn't get one at all. I hated not knowing where all my stuff was. I don't think it took weeks to clear my boxes - the longest part seemed to be them actually shipping the boxes. Don't know if it has anything to do with where you are.
Ricky+VanessaFemaleUnited Kingdom2010-10-12 06:01:00
United KingdomYes!! It's another shipping thread
I posted the below as a response to someone else elsewhere but thought it might be better to keep everything in one thread:

I used Sevenseas Worldwide. I'm in two minds about the experience. but overall I guess it was good.

They provide you with the boxes but you have to pay a £50 deposit. They have a calculator on the website and that is actually the price you pay (unless your box(es) are over weight (as mine were!)). I sent 5 of their book boxes and I that would be approximately £250 (I think). So you can choose a date for the delivery of the boxes. They recommend ordering more just in case which is what I did. I also requested 2 tea chests but decided against using those. As well as getting the boxes they give you packing tape, pens and bubble wrap. The £50 deposit comes off of your bill at the end. Along with the packing things comes all the forms with FULL instructions as to how to complete these.

You then schedule the pick up. I scheduled mine for the day before I left. They were very prompt with delivery and collections (they give you a window of time closer to the date). The driver that collected my boxes was great.

The issues I had were:
I didn't fill something out on the form (the part about employment as I thought it wasn't applicable - turns out it was). So I called and the guy on the phone said to fax back the completed form. We went to Kinko's and for some reason for the fax number didn't work. While I was there I placed another call to sevenseas and got a lovely lady who told me not to fax it to the UK as it would be expensive for me and that I should fax it to the US number since they have a central system. I did this. When I got home I checked my email and i had an email response from a query telling me that I could actually give the details via email. Oh well.

Second issue was that I never received a tracking number even thought I enquired.

I have to say they reply to emails very quickly and appart from one person all the people I dealt with were friendly and efficient.

My boxes were actually sent UPS Saver and the could feasibly have given me a tracking number because I looked it up on the UPS site after I received. But nevermind.

So they picked the boxes up on 3rd August and it looks like they went to UPS on 9/10 August and I received them on 12th August  I really wasn't expecting them because the site said they would arrive on 20th August and to allow at least 2 weeks for customs. 2 of the boxes were opened for customs inspection but everything was fine.

Right now it's -18°F outside (that's -28°C in old money). That's colder than it has EVER BEEN in the UK, EVER, in recorded meteorological history.

Or, in other words, it's a bit nippy outside. :(

That sucks, Leenie. "Finders Keepers, Losers Weepers", I hate that phrase!

I know this is probably inappropriate, but it's something that's going on in my head since earlier. The hospital called me and said that my pay rate will be $12 per hour, which is a little over 24K a year. She told me that she increased it because I have a degree and some experience (rather than a high school graduate which they were asking for) so that means they were going to pay lower for their wanted candidate. Which made me think... is it right that someone in medical research earns less than a Walmart employee? My FIL just got hired at an archery retail store for $14 per hour. It's not a huge deal because their benefits package is very good, and I'm lucky to have a job in my field, but it was just something that made me question the logic of it all.

I would probably question that "non" logic too. However, I think it's a great opportunity and for that alone it is sooooooo worth it.

Without mentioning company names...many years ago I got a job at a top finacial eerrmm guru type firm (trying so hard not to say who cos it would make the story so much better anway..). The pay was sh!te. I stayed there for about two years and then I went to an employment agency. I wasn't even asked how much I earned. They assumed that going by the name of the company and what they did I was earning a very good salary. Let's just say I didn't tell them any different lol. Basically the job I got through them was just over 10 grand more than the ####### job I was in at the time.

All this to say that it's a real good stepping stone....

@Leenie - I know exactly what you mean about things being "tight" right now so I can imagine that losing the money was annoying to say the least

United Kingdomhow many days could I have my visa after interview?

Hello guys, I am waiting for my interview on June 17 in London, Embassy. I was working here and I want to know and book for my plane ticket as soon as I find out if I can have a visa. But I am a bit worried if how many working days before I can have my visa in my hand after my interview. Any help from those who had this kind of experience... Thanks

I see noone has replied to you so I'll attempt to help you. My interview was on Monday 19th April (last year) and I received my passport back on Friday 23rd April. I've seen people get theirs quicker and I've seen it take longer. I've also seen cases where people have been approved at interview only to find out later that there's been in an issue which has delayed the issuing of their visa even further.

Your best bet would probably be to do a timeline search. I know that in my timeline I have the date of my interview and the date my visa was received so you may want to look at the pattern for the last couple of months...

United KingdomBringing Pets From the UK

Hi everyone, sorry I lost this thread and it took me ages to find it again... Honey had her rabies vaccination the other week and her blood titre test last week. In a couple more weeks we find out the blood test results and they will issue us with the pet passport. Cant wait to get everything all sorted. Then, we've arranged with the vet to return 48 hours before flying to have an another appointment where they'll give us the health certificate and give her tick and tapeworm treatment. Then we're all good to go!!!

If anyone needs any further advice please PM me!

Who are you using to transport her or are you doing it yourself. I wanted to bring my cat but the prices I've been quoted are ridiculous........

Can I just say about the transcripts that they FAXED them to Ricky in a matter of minutes. He scanned them in and I printed them. That's what I took with me.

ETA (again) I'm not sure if "they" will really have to do without what they require.. I was specifically ask for it but I don't know if other's have been. As I said above...it should just take a phonecall and hopefully they can fax it to your other half :)

There is a machine there and it costs £4 so make sure you have change. I don't know what time your interview is but if you are leaving your phone at Gould's I believe you can get pictures there but I don't know how much they are.

Re tax transcripts.. I can't even tell you exactly what they are - I think your other half can explain better than me. I had the W2's which I gave her first..she then asked for the transcripts. I said "these?" showing her what else I had and she said yeah. It looked like some kind of breakdown.

And yes, you give the first person all the docs from the checklist.

Yes, take a copy of the documents you submitted just in case. I'm so glad I did!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhat is required at what point during the interview

Hi all,

I am currently trying to sort out my huge folder of information and am trying to determine what order I need things in.

Specifically as far as I understand you see 2 people (in london anyway) - what am I providing the first person (people tend to say that they give them "documents" but speficially which documents? Everything I have? Affadavit and police cert and DS230 part 2? (You get the idea)

The obvious follow up to this is what do i provide when actually having the interview part? My understanding here you give them nothing unless they ask for it? e.g. evidence of relationship

Any advise appreciated.

Regards,

Arch

Hey, I had my interview on Monday (review is in my timeline). You get called to the first window. They couldn't find my P3 documents so I ended up giving my copies. They copied those and told me to sign (mine were blank). My folder was in exact order so I knew where ALL my information was. The lady was really patient and asked me for each document from the checklist one my one. I gave them to her and she read them. When she asked for the I-134 I gave that..she asked for the transcripts and I gave those. I told her I had a letter from his employer and a payslip print out from them also .. I asked if she wanted them she said sure. She gave me the slip to pay for the visa's and come back. Did that and she then gave me a courier slip. I then had to wait again for the actual interview.

Wait was about 20-30 mins. The CO had all the docs. He was sooo nice. It was more like a conversation than anything else. I was approved and then went to pay the courier.

Oh and you don't need the DS-230 part 2

Anything else ya wanna know please ask. Come on over the to the "United Kingdom" section. There's an interview thread there.

Hi all,

Just wanting to find out about the police certificate. I live in the UK & i was looking through the paperwork for it.. Does it cover scotland? Cause there was a question asking have you ever lived in scotland? I just laughed cause i live in scotland, born & bred here.. So please let me know if it actually covers scotland?

I think they do and I'm sure someone in the United Kingdom discussion area can tell (cos I recall it being asked before).

Have a look at the site and give them a call (they really are very helpful - I've called them before).

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLaos consulate interpreter falsifying translation during interview?

So, my fiancee is pretty concerned as well as I. She said the guy who is running her paperwork on her side said recently there has been a huge wave of K1 denials from the Laos embassy when under this certain interpreter. News also came that one interviewer came out saying that the consulate asked her if she was engaged to the USC and after replying yes in her native tongue, the interpreter said no, they are married thus giving the consulate no choice but to deny the K1 petition. This is completely outrageous and is there anything that can be done? I heard no one has gotten a visa through this interpreter as of yet.

Is the interpreter provided by the Embassy? Has anyone made an official complaint?
