US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 and speeding tickets
QUOTE (iwannaleave @ Sep 18 2008, 04:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi all,

I need some help from those of you that recently submitted this form. I keep getting conflicting information about this topic. Do I need to include speeding tickets in the N-400 form? Thank you for your help! =)

16. Have you ever been arrested, cited or detained by any law enforcement officer
(including USCIS or former INS and military officers) for any reason?

Speeding tickets are an infraction. Only misdemeanor and felony violations of the law are to be reported. Just make sure you pay the ticket.

US Citizenship General DiscussionOath Letter for January Los angles Ceremony?
I had my interview on 11/07/08 and was told I would get my letter in 4 weeks or less.
After 5 weeks I made an InfoPass appointment and found out, that my oath date was set for 01/29/09, but that they wouldn't mail out the letters until close to the ceremony.
I got my letter today, so I am sure yours will be in the mail soon.

US Citizenship General DiscussionGot oath letter
Congrats!
I just had mine in L.A. on January 29th. Mine was at 1pm and there were over 5900 new citizens+guests. Traffic to and from the LA Convention Center was insane, so be prepared. The actual ceremony won't start until about 2pm.
Funny thing is you should try to be one of the last people to come in for the ceremony, this way you are nearest to the Naturalization Certificate Hand-out Lines and out of the door. The Lines are on the left wall and they start seating people starting on the right. So If you were sitting down first you will get your certificate last.
If you are one of the first ones with a certificate and you wanna apply for a Passport then do it right away. If you are in the back...don't even try.The process takes forever. They tell you to bring 2 passport pictures for the application, but once you are there they will take pictures anyway. So, of course, a whole bunch of people will get their pictures taken or taken again and everything will start to stall. It will look worse then Security Check lines at LAX during rush hour. I just went to my local Post Office the next day and got it done.

I hope it helps a little.

US Citizenship General DiscussionSelective Service Question
I married in October of 2004 and turned 26 in November of 2004.

US Citizenship General DiscussionSelective Service Question
I was in the same situation. Came on a K1 Visa in October 2004 and turned age 26 in November 2004.I didn't become a Permanent Resident until June 2005. I recently requested a status letter from the Selective Service Center and they stated:
"We have received your inquiry as to whether you are required to register with
Selective Service.
Based upon our records and the information you provided, you were not required
to register with Selective Service because you entered the United States on a
valid visa as a lawful non-immigrant before the age of 26, and remained in that
status until your 26th birthday.
You should submit this letter to any agency concerned about your registration
status with Selective Service."

So basically if you get your Green Card and you are not 26...register.
If you are 26 and you get your Green Card... You don't register.

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionaffidavits
The letters are only an example of proof that can be submitted.
I did not even bother getting these letters, since they are the weakest proof you can submit.
More important is financial proof and shared assets, like health and life insurance shared ownership of cars, apartment/house, and accounts with both incomes.
I would concentrate on these things.
I submitted my package without the letters and was approved, without any RFEs.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionGot my new card!!!
I just received my new 10 year permanent resident card in the mail and all of this within just under 2 months.
Check out my time line in my signature....AMAZING. This makes up for all the initial insanity 3 years ago, when we began to file for K1.
Good luck to everybody who submitted the application to the California service center.
Next step will be citizenship in June of 2008.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionBiometrics appointment 27 days after NOA1

We applied to remove conditions around 13 April and NOA1 was dated 02 May. Just got the biometrics appointment and it's the 29th, just 27 days after NOA1.

Is that fast? Did we get lucky? Does approval come very soon after biometrics?

Check out my timeline for removal of conditions.
Seems like the California Service Center is on a roll.

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionnow what?
Correct. I would not spend too much time on getting pictures and notarized letters together. Just concentrate on the real stuff they want to see, such as joint assets, bank accounts and credit cards, rentals, insurance and life insurance policies.
To them, letters and pictures can be easily staged and actually have the least value in confirming a valid relationship.
I did not bother getting those letters and was approved without RFE.
