Emerald Garden is right across the street. There are actually 2 retaurants - one serves dimsum until mid afternoon and the other is regular ala carte restaurant. Both serves ala carte dinner. Family style. A bit pricey but very good quality Chinese.

Egg noodle soup and Fried noodles are my favorite.

Got my NOA1 today! It has a receipt date of 7/9/12. Updated my timeline below.

It answered my previous question too -- it says "Your conditional resident status is extended for a period of one year. During the one-year extension you are authorized employment and travel."

So I guess my wife will not be having any issues coming back after her quick trip to the Philippines

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 July 2012 filers
Hey guys, July filer here! I sent out our I-751 packet to CSC on July 6. My wife's conditional GC expires 9/15 (a little late on sending out the packet -- our window opened in June). The check was cashed yesterday 7/11. Hoping for a smooth and quick process.

Quick question for you guys... my wife will be going for a quick trip to the Philippines from 7/25 to 8/8 -- and since her GC do not expire until 9/15, she shouldn't have any problem coming back in, right? -- what i also plan to do is to have here bring a copy of the NOA1 (when we receive it) to show proof that her removal of conditions is in the works. Anything else she should bring?

PhilippinesNOA2 in mail today

Do I send a copy or the original of the NOA2 to my fiancee?I read she can do the medical early with that and the MNL#.Also is it fine if she also start collecting the NBI and other papars. What do she need to get her police clearence?

your fiancee can take the medical exam with a copy of BOTH the NOA2 and the NVC letter. Yes, you should have her start getting the NBI clearance, CENOMAR, birth certificate and applicable police records if she stayed 6 months or longer in a diff country.

hope that helps.

PhilippinesMarch 2010 Interviews
Hi Everyone,

I got my fiancee's interview scheduled for March 15, 2010. YAAAAY!!!

The joy and excitement i'm feeling is overwhelming as we're another step closer in being finally together...

I'm planning on going with her to the interview and will be in Manila on March 12. Hopefully we'll be flying back together on March 26.

Wish us luck! And best of luck to all of you with upcoming interviews!!!
LeoLaLitMalePhilippines2010-02-22 01:37:00
PhilippinesAnyone "recently" pickup their Visa from USEM??

I went to my interview alone because my then fiance (now husband) had to fly to New York from L.A. to attend his sister's wedding. After the female CO who interviewed me said "congratulations," I asked her if I could pick up my visa. That female CO is not Caucasian.

She replied, "Sure. We'll give you a ring once your visa is ready." No questions why from her, she didn't scrutinize. I had the feeling that she was either in a pleasant mood or that she was just glad that I gave her a good laugh because of my answers during the interview.

I threw another question, "Is there any specific date for that?"

She answered no and that I should just wait for their call.

I went to Window 37 and the guy gave me the pink card-like sheet that serves as my authorization to pick up the visa. I left my contact numbers.

I had my interview on October 20 last year. I picked up my visa on October 27 because they contacted me only on October 26. On the very same day that I picked up my visa, I went to CFO for my sticker, had my ticket printed in Century Plaza Hotel, and boarded the plane to HKG at past 5 p.m. I arrived at LAX on October 27 at almost 9 p.m.

BTW, I come from Cebu, the Queen City of the South.

Arbind did inquire why it took them so long to release my visa when others in the past got theirs fast. The Embassy said that it all depends on how many visas they had to print for pick up and how many are not. That means it varies from one period to another. I had a friend from Cebu who took her interview on the same date as mine. She got her visa on October 24 through Air21.

I suggest that you weigh things out. Picking up the visa isn't a guarantee that you will have it quicker than relying on Air21. It's up to you really.

Great information. Thanks for sharing your experience. My fiancee's interview will be next week, March 15. I will be attending the interview and will be requesting to pick-up the visa as we plan to fly back to the US together on March 25 or depending on flight availabilty.

God Bless!

Hi Osen!

As you know, my fiancee's interview is on March 15 -- and just like you, we are both getting really anxious... double checking and triple checking all the documents we have... my flight to manila is tomorrow night and hopefully i have everyting...

Not sure of the required documents for CR1, but your folders to prove bonafide relationship looks awesome! i think you're good to go!

PhilippinesCalling Cards

yeah but with that you have to use an internet connection just like magicjack except it gives you a PI number right?? Either way it still isnt a bad deal..a little more than Rebtel for talking.

My wife gave me a roaming sim and she just txts me using that...only costs her a peso a txt.

I sent my fiancee a magicjack for when she's at home; I use G3Telecom and Owtel for when i need to get a hold of her on her cell phone (G3 has call history available online and Owtel sends me a monthly bill as this is a post paid service). Then I also have a roaming globe sim card so she can text me and I use a prepaid service from O2 wireless to text back for 5 cents a pop. -- I found that cheaper than having an international text messaging from AT&T as we text a lot.

PhilippinesPassport needed after medical?

NO. the St. Lukes will forward her passport along with her medical records to USEM after her medical

That is correct. However, there are cases where st. lukes would let you bring the entire packet with you to the USEM... typically when your scheduled interview is only a day or 2 away from when you get your medical results... i don't advise that you do this as there could be some unforeseen circumstances that you might run in to. i'm sure you wouldn't want any further delay on the entire process.

have you called st. lukes to ask? when is your interview date?

Philippineslength to get visa by air 21

question: is possible to pick up your visa once after the interview has been approved, rather going to the procees of air21? i am planning to make it sure i have the visa, since i will be booking the flight of my fiancee ahead of time. any experiences?

Yes. My fiancee and I picked up her visa at the USEM 2 days after her interview date. We just verbally asked the consular officer right after he said we got approved.

PhilippinesDS 156 Information - Help

The DS-156 does not get automatically submitted online to the consulte, you must print it and take it to the interview.

The barcode contains the information you entered into the form prior to printing. You will want to complete a new form including the corrected question 31.

Don't feel bad, you are fine. Just fix the error and print a new one.

That is absolutely correct. Just fill-in a new one and print it.

As for the question 31, you need to put "YES" if she was previously denied a tourist visa. Don't worry, this shouldn't be a problem at all... My fiancee was previouisly denied a tourist visa also, but we didn't have any problems getting her K-1 approved.

PhilippinesFor fun in this Forum (House Chores)
This thread makes it hard for me not to reply (this is my first time posting as my husband is the one active here in vj) :D

before coming here in the US, my husband told me he really didn't expect me to do any household chores as i was used to having household help in Manila and he's used to doing everything here, even if he was raised with nannies and household help in the Philippines too.. but since i came here (which was 4 mos ago), i promised to do the best i can to take care of him..i cook, do the laundry and clean the house..not because he asks me to, but because it can get really boring since i don't have a job yet.. we are still applying for my AOS. after a couple of mos, i decided to do the ironing too when i learned how much it's costing him to take his pants and dress shirts to the cleaners..

as much as possible, i want everything done when he comes home so we can have quality time with each other..after dinner, we either watch our tv shows or maybe a movie before going to bed..sometimes, we would have a few drinks while we talk about how our day went..

but he makes it a point to have his share of the chores too...like cleaning the bathroom (which i hate), taking out the trash and maintaining our backyard..he would clean up after me whenever i cook..sometimes, we do laundry together too..

my friends back home was really surprised at how domesticated i've become but the truth is, i actually enjoy taking care of my man...his smile is priceless whenever he comes home to a good dinner and a clean house.

(but don't get me wrong, i can get really lazy sometimes..if i don't feel like doing anything when i wake up, i just surf the net all day and ask him to take me out to dinner when he comes home :P  )

PhilippinesHow to Deal with your Marriage Critics Effectively
My husband and I are both Filipinos, raised in the Philippines until he has to come here in the US before turning 21..we dated for a short time way back when I was 17 and he was 18 when we were both in Nursing school at one of the top 4 universities in the Philippines.. Oh great!!! thats a nice link....have you done this before? Thank you so much again!

My then fiancee (wife now) applied for a ssn 15 days after her entry here in the states. We didn't have any problems. It will have a stamp on the ssn card saying (something like) "valid for employment with DHS authorization only."

Now that we're married and our aos has been approved, we'll be going back to ssn office to change her last name as soon as we receive her gc from the mail.

Goodluck!

PhilippinesFiance with you during actual and final interview
I went to the interview with my wife (fiance then) to the USEM in Manila. I noticed that we were given priority over the ones that went without their US citizen partners -- we were interviewed ahead of the people that were there before us. Also, during the interview, the CO was interviewing me more than my wife. Total time of the interview was less than 10 minutes.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOctober 2009 K-1 Visa filers

hello to all my dearest fellow octoberians.!!!I just want to thank everyone here for all your prayers. That was a very traumatic accident and I praise God for saving my life. I was admitted at the hospital march 2 and had an operation on my right face since i have 2 cuts (one cut was so deep). i almost saw what was inside ..huhuhu i was crying and i panic when i saw my face on the mirror after the accident then keep on saying to the people behind me to take me to the hospital coz the blood keeps on going out. I had also a small cut just very near to my eyes. Still thankful that it didnt hit my eyes. I have a big bruise on my right leg, i feel relieved when the doctor said that no any bone fracture on my legs after they did the x-ray. The doctor gave me general anesthesia and i was asleep during the two hour operation. It was more than 30 sutures on my right face.

With regards to my interview, by God's grace im all set, prepared and ready for my flight to Manila tomorrow afternoon together with my brother. Help me pray for strength and wisdom during my interview.

Thank you very much Octoberians and esp. to my ever dearest Gary for always being there for me ( he was the first person i talked with right after the accident happened). I saw your sincerity and you've prove to me my sweetie Gary that you really love me when you saw me on web cam, and that nothing change your love to me amidst of my right face situation. I Love You gary always and forever!!!

Have a good day everyone and God Bless us!!! :)

Hello fellow Octoberians! Today we find out my baby's TB smear test results. In about 3 hours. We are praying for a negative result. Cecila, glad to hear that you are ok. It was aful to hear that you were in an accident. We have accepted the fact that it will be at least 2 months before we are together and if she has to do the 6 month TB treatment I'm sure there is a reason. Hope everything is going ok for everyone else.

Keep that positive attitude! good luck on your the TB smear test results. hope everything turns out well... God Bless

we're one of the october 2009 filer...right now i'm in the process of waiting my visa. i got a pink slip after i got interviewed and everyone told me here in VJ that's its one of the strong proof that i got the approval. I asked to pay the visa issuance fee and the lady in Window 33 told me to wait for my visa and as soon as i get it i need to go to CFO seminar before departure. Oh the consul who held the interview didn't asked me for more additional documents, the interview went fast and fine. I am hoping to get the visa next week. I'm praying.

Congratulations on getting that pink slip! - And welcome to the awesome Octoberian thread...

My fiancee had her medical today and bad news she has to have the sputum test :( . We're both really dissapointed. Does anyone know what the ramifications are for this test. We know it adds 2 months of waiting. What else does it dictate? Will this keep her from getting approved? Any info provided would greatly be appriciated.

i'm really sorry to hear that...

my fiancee is currently at the SLEC undergoing the medical exam... she is really nervous as she told me there were a number of applicants that had to go through the dreadful sputum test... unfortunately, nothing has put us to ease yet as the result will still be a mystery until she goes back to SLEC tomorrow.

yes, unfortunately, this will put a 2 month delay on your whole process since the sputum needs to be cultured for about 6 weeks. If the result is negative, then all is well and she can proceed to the next step. However, if is found that she has an active tb disease, from what i've read, she is required to complete a full course of TB treatment before receiving medical clearance...

best of luck to you... never lose hope and keep on praying...

God Bless.

hi caveman_robot!!! No need to be worried.. even me, i still didnt received anything from manila USembassy, as i know it would take long before i received anything from them coz my town is quite remote(far from manila).. You got your NVC letter 3 days ahead from ours.. My fiance called manila embassy 1 week after we received the NVC letter however, they told my fiance to call back after a week as they only received the electronic copy of our case forwarded by the NVC. Feb 8, my fiance called manila embassy and be able to set my interview on march 10. It was our preference date as it will give us time to compile/ prepare needed documents for my interview(though i already had my documents prepared last december and my fiance's documents has been sent through UPS and im waiting for it to arrive here by tomorrow). I decided also to have my medical ahead of time from my interview, and i thank God everything went well with my medical exam last feb 9& 10.
You can call manila embassy and ask them if they already receive your case( i'm pretty sure it's already in their system).. You can also let your fiance have her medical as well. :)

GOD BLESS!!! :)

Did your fiance call the appointment line? -- Since my fiancee does not have a post paid phone line, I will be the one calling the US Embassy from here in the US... don't want to spend $18 for the PIN if they'll jull tell me that i have to call them back after a week or so...

Thanks!

We recied our letter from NVC 22 Jan 10 and my fiancee hasn't recieved anything from the embassy in Manila. Should we be worried?

The only thing that the US emabassy is going to send your fiancee is a notification that your fiancee is eligible to schedule an interview. This is not an actual appointment letter as you will need to call them to schedule an appointment. Refer to this link for more information -- the requirements and how to schedule an interview is found here: http://manila.usemba...ov/wwwfk1en.pdf

For the medical exam, all you need is a copy of both the NOA2 and NVC letter. For a complete walkthrough of the medical exam, here's a thread that NinJones posted in the Philippine Regional forum: http://www.visajourn...howtopic=221658
