US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionUK PACKET 3 & 4 - I have questions

This page is helpful too... oh, and about taking evidence of ongoing relationship... sounds like they might not often ask to see much of it at the London consulate, but I'll be taking a folder full of stuff - it can't hurt!

ps... congrats on the NOA2! I called the Embassy today and discovered they've scheduled my interview (should receive Packet 4 tomorrow) - so excited! :)

Thanks so much for the help - and so quickly :D Congrats on your interview date...fingers crossed!!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionUK PACKET 3 & 4 - I have questions
Hi everyone...just as an FYI for those of you in Nov and early December that are still waiting for approval, we got approved by USCIS today (we were 28th Nov). If you have too much time on your hands like me and look at everyone's timelines for the last three months and then figure out the average wait times you'll find that you'll get a pretty good estimate of when to expect your application to be picked up. I travelled out to AZ last week and was panicking that they wouldn't let me through - I had no probs at all.

I was wondering if any of you UK guys could enlighten me on the next steps and, in particular, the forms that need to be filled. Is there anything I can do before the packet 3 arrives? What's in Packet 3?

Also, with the affidavit of support I was wondering for the UK which form needs to be filled the I-864 or the I-134?

What documentation do I need to get from Adam (US Citizen) for the london portion?

Am I correct in thinking that I need a copy of our I-129F application to take with me to London?

How about the police check? Can I apply for that now or do I have to wait for packet 3?

Do we need to have additional evidence to take to the interview to prove an ongoing relationship?

Also, what's in packet 4?

You can probably tell, like the majority of us on here, that I am BORED with waiting and so anything that I can get on and do in the meantime would be handy.

Hmmm, I guess since I am on here I am gonna ask if anyone has had any luck with cost effective ways of shipping their belongings...I look around my apartment and I think 'there's really not too much to ship' then you write it all down and check again and realise just how much there is!! It's madness!

So much to do and so little time to do it :)

Thanks in advance for any help and guidance!!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDS-156K
Also, I was wondering about this form. On the letter and enclosures the UK embassy has sent it says that I need to fill in and send back the DS-230 pt1, DS-156k and DS-156 (in duplicate...does that mean photocopied?). It doesn't say that I have to send in official documents like a birth certificate. On the DS-156k it says that I need to attach birth certificates, police certificates, evidence i'm engaged (how?) and evidence of financial support. I'm confused.

On a separate note, have any of you guys found that until you receive these instructions you're completely set on what needs to be done and then you have all of the docs and so on in front of you and you seem to forget everything that you're supposed to do??

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDS-230 Part 1
Hi Everyone,

I have a question or two on the DS-230 P1:

The form on the US Embassy website doesn't allow for me to enter a new line when I am putting in my proposed US address and I therefore can't get the whole thing on there - can it be handwritten?

It's asking for the places that I have lived for the last ten years (which isn't a problem). I have been using my parents address as a place of correspondence on the visa as I am trying to sell my house and honestly thought it would be sold by this point...so my current address is theirs that I have been using. I don't want it to look like I have been lying on the forms I have already submitted so should I put my current address as being with my parents (for continuity's sake) or should I put my own address?

They're asking on the bottom of page two for me to put all of the visits I have ever made to the States which is a near impossibility as I have been going out there since 1988. At one point during my teen years I was going out four times a year with my parents. I have no clue what half of the dates were. I only have my passport going back to 2001. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLength of Relationship
Thanks everyone for the help.

Can I just check one thing? If/When I go to the interview, can I take additional evidence past the date of filing the K1 or are they only looking between the dates that you formed the romantic relationship and filed the K1?

Additionally, since we have no paper evidence of having known him for 10yrs...only circumstancial...would it be safer to get a couple of affidavits notarised from people that have known us for the same time and can verify what we're claiming (in preparation of the interview - not for the K1 appliation).

Thx

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLength of Relationship
Thanks for the advice.

As I said, I have got all my passports and stamps that show that I have consistently visited SC over the last 10 years and getting witness statements wouldn't be a problem. So, in that respect I can confirm that I know him. Plus all of the hours we rack up on the phone and msn everyday...I am personally not doubting that I know him at all, and I know he would say the same about me. It was more whether they look at the time frame we have been together or if they take the whole picture into account.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLength of Relationship

I wonder whether anyone would be able to tell me if the length of time you have been together is a large factor when USCIS consider the K1 petition.

We are looking to send the forms off in November and would have been together for five months by that point where we would have had three trips, an average of 350 mins of talk time, loads of msn chats, pictures galore (including ones with family members) and other trip related receipts.

If the length of relationship does matter, would it help our case if we showed we had known each other for 10 years before we got together? And that I had visitied SC (where he was before he moved) on average about 3 times a year for those 10 years.

Thx

No the length of time is not a requirement per se.... you only have to prove meeting within the last 2 years. In your situation as described, you will be fine....

Thanks for the help. My brother was to blame for the doubt. He came in saying that he thought it would be a problem and it got me to thinking that perhaps he had a point!
