Yes we did the CR-1. We seriously considered the K-3 but are SO happy we didn't go through with it. Like I said, only if you will interview in Vancouver is the K-3 beneficial as it is significantly shorter wait time than interviewing in Montreal, where in Canada are you from?

I am from Windsor, Ontario.

The Cr-1 allows for immediate work and travel. The K-3 is slow and expensive. Unless you interview in Vancouver then it might be beneficial but without that information we cannot help you

Good luck

My fiance is American and I am Canadian. We are trying to decide where to get married. If he is going to apply for the K-3 visa in his country, do we have to get married in the USA ?

We have been told that the K-3 is the better way to go, so I can work that much sooner. Is this true ?

Any insight given is much appreciated !!

Thanks

Where do I find out information on the CR-1 ?

I am Canadian and my fiance is American. We are getting married next month and apply for the I-130 visa afterwards. We have been told I am not susposed to travel to the US after the visa application has been filed. Is this true ? If I have proper supporting documents to show I am coming back to Canada to work after my visit to him, would this work ? Has anyone ever had this experience

Canadamarriage license
Hi folks. I am Canadian and my boyfriend is American. We want me to move to the US to live and we know that we have to get married to make this all work.

Which country is easier to get married in? He has been told that if we got married in Ontario, that it would make it easier to do all the paper work for the US. Also he was told we would be able to go back and forth across the border without too many troubles. Is it true once I go into the US to be with him that I can't leave until all the Visas have gone through ? We just want to things the legal way and hopefully the most effecient way so that we can be together soon as possible so I would be able to work in the US and be able to come back to Canada if need be, without the worry that I couldn't go back to my husband.

Any help or insight into this would be very appreciated.

Thanks
Pony

CanadaEasier to go to Canada ?
I was wondering if anyone out there knows anything about this ?

I know a few years ago that if you were married, you could bring your American husband over the border to Canada, go into Immigration and be able to get a Temporary Visa so that he could live here with you for 6 months, while you started apply for Visas for him to live in Canada peramently. Does anyone know if this is still possible ? Can he bring all of his personal belongings with him ? We eventually want to move down South to a warmer climate, with him being an American would we be able to move back to the USA ?

Any help or insight that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

CanadaCR-1 filers
I check every day morning and night. I had just noticed from looking at different postings on here, that there is very few people going through the Vermont office. I guess I had been hoping to find some others like me, to see how their progress is going along. It seems that alot of people go through the California office.

For electronic prosessing you can email everything in to the NVC ?

CanadaDS-230
I was wondering if someone could tell me for the DS-230 documents, do you have to send the originals of your birth certificate, marriage license in ? Or can you send exact photo copies, state that they are exact copies and bring your originals to the interview ? I was born in England and my parents made me a Canadian citizen after we had been here for 5 years, so I would presume that I would have to send those papers as well ? I am nervous of sending the originals in case they are lost.

Thanks for any advice given !!

I already have my NVC case number and want to OPTIN for the email process. I am pretty sure this has to be done when the DS-3032 is sent in. Do I put "OPTIN" in the subject line or do I send it to a different email address ? Or am I wrong about how this is done ?

CanadaIntervie Wait Times?

According to Trailmix's spreadsheet and the last person I spoke to at the NVC (the nice one who actually said she hoped we get an interview date soon), they do schedule some for December. Here's hoping they finish off the June case completes!

Here's hoping they will schedule as many as possible for December !! I am wondering too, with the massive slow down of I-130 approvals after March this year, if it will give Montreal a chance to catch up. Good luck to you !!

CanadaIntervie Wait Times?

They are schelduling January now. I would guess March if your fortunate. NVC and Montreal have been slow, but maybe a miracle will happen! All the best!

Does this mean that there will be no interviews scheduled for December now ?

CanadaElectronic Processing
Is the Authorization for Release of Federal Tax Data form still needed for filing the I-864 ? I have also read to send in the most recent tax return for the I-864 and send the previous 2 years if you feel it may help your case. Or is it best just to send in all 3 years ? Along with letter from employer and recent pay stubs.

This morning I emailed off my DS-230 only to get a failure notice. Which email address do I send it to ? The
NVCMontreal@state.gov. or the NVCinquiry or the NVCelectronic one ? Posted Image Then when my husband sends in his paperwork we will send it to the same one ?

Question for when you are emailing your DS-230. I don't seem to have enough computer knowledge to be able to figure out how to get my files (documents) small enough to fit into 1 email through yahoo. Can I send in 2 emails with all of my information ?

We are going to plan on getting there at 7 am to wait! Our interview is on the 15th...is everyone excited?! Where is everyone staying? We still have to book our hotel....

We are staying at the Quality Inn Downtown, the internet rate was really good, $95.00 a night and it seems very close to the Embassy.

CanadaPOE question

She is only visiting, she'll be leaving after I get moved and unpacked. I am keeping the car in the US so I'll make sure to get the compliance letter from the dealership. Thank you!

I am importing my car which is a GM, I had to call them to get a compliance letter and pay for it. I was told the dealership can't provide a letter. Maybe this is not the case for all manufacturers?

CanadaVery Important Check Birth Country On Visa
I had my Visa Interview yesterday and asked to be able to pick up my the next day as my husband needs surgery. When we went to pick it up, the lady had a strange look on her face and said oh this isn't good. I was born in Great Britain and they had my birth country as Canada. We had to wait a half hour or so, for them to change the birth country. I could not even imagine what a run around it would have been, if the Visa had been mailed to me that way. Had we been at the POE they said I probably would have been turned back. Very glad the woman noticed this right away and they were nice enough to have it corrected while we waited. They were very apologetic for making us wait, but to us it was well worth it.

Approved! I was nervous as hell. We got there 715 am. Group C...my wife and I were the loud ones cracking jokes and trying to lighten the mood. To the blonde consular lady..I thank You very much. I appreciate you putting up with my nerves. If this gets back to u...thank u for helping us put our family back together again. Now I have to figure out How to track my DHL. btw I guess the consulars have been getting in big ###### for allowing pickups of visas
...so I think the policy is going to change soon where DHL will be the only way to get your visa. Ill post more later.

I think they do not stop it, but do it for very important reasons only. We had a letter from my husband's surgeon, he can't have his surgery until I am there to help him out afterwards. He will need constant help for the 1st 4 weeks post-op and more than likely longer. Or we would have waited like everyone else for the DHL.

I did however see when we went to pick up the Visa, a lady packaging up all the DHL envelopes and sending them on their way. So hopefully they make it to everyone very quickly.

Interview is Wednesday morning..the cold weather is supposed to break early Wednesday morning. Be careful driving and dress warmly all u Valentine Week Interviewers!!

I got to Montreal around 5pm tonight very glad that I took the train !! It is still snowing steadily here and there is already at least 5-6 inches of snow. My hubby drove up from Connecticut to meet me here, he said as soon as he crossed the border it started snowing. Drive carefully, they don't seem to plow the roads here, his car was sliding every where on him. Good luck with your interview on Wednesday !!

I need to do a change of address as soon as possible, to make sure my Green Card and Social Security Number come to the right address. On the form it is asking for my "A" number, where do I find that ? I am using the online form that was suggested to me at POE. I can't find it on any previous documents or on my passport. CanadaBiometrics After Arrival to US ?
It has been about a month and half now since my biometrics appointment on March 22, after my POE. I still don't have a Welcome letter or Green Card. I have signed up for case status on the USCIS with my SRC receipt number and no touches. Is there anything else I can do ? If I do get a job offer, will my stamp in my Passport work ? I have tried calling the 1-800 phone number but I have no idea which prompt to use to get an actual person.

If anyone could please help me, it would be greatly appreciated !

CanadaBiometrics After Arrival to US ?
I entered the US on February 24, 2011 on a CR1 visa. On Monday I recieved a letter saying that I have a Biometrics Appointment on March 22, 2011. I thought that this was done before approval of the Visa. Is this normal ? From everything I have read on different posts on here, I can't find many posts on people having to do this. I changed my address after I moved here, could this be a reason why ?

If anyone can help ease my wondering mind it would be greatly appreaciated.

CanadaIR1 / CR1 - Montreal Timeline to Interview

I still brought my original documents and photographs at my interview, it's just nice to be prepared.

I brought copies of all my originals and husband's documents, had lots of pictures, boarding passes, chat logs etc. I was disappointed almost when they didn't ask for anything, I had spent so much time preparing.
Were you asked alot of questions on how you met etc?

CanadaIR1 / CR1 - Montreal Timeline to Interview

Congratulations!

What kind of paperwork did you bring? Other than 'evidence of relationship' type things?

I brought emails, yahoo chat logs, pictures of us and never was asked to show anything. One of the times when I was called up to the window to give them my original documents, I saw a big approved stamp on our file. When we were called up to the window for the interview, it was like we were assumed approved. We were not asked any questions of how we met, nothing. I was asked twice about my kids, then she was shocked I had grand children. Everyone was so nice.
