K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresLiving overseas with wife waiting for K3 visa??
I was wondering if anyone could help. Here is my situation.

I am getting married in April 2007 in Mexico with a Mexican citizen. I will be living/working in Mexico for 2-3 years. Once we get married we will apply for the K3. I understand that she will not be able to travel to the US until she gets the K3. Once she gets the K3, can we still live in Mexico until my work assignment ends? If so, does the K3 expire? Will she be able to travel back and forth from the US and Mexico (i.e. short vacations back to the US periodically)? Also, is there a better route to go instead of the K3?

Just wanted to let all of you know that when you get your vacinnations in Juarez, make sure they fill out the paperwork. They will give you a large brown envelope along with a 8.5x11 white form. Make sure they fill it out.

We just had our interview for Adjustment of Status to get my wife's greencard. Unfortunately, the white form that was given to us did not have anything listed on it. Therefore, it doesn't tell the U.S. immigration officers that vaccinations were taken. They told us to go get the vaccinations again which I've heard will run about $300.

Hopefully our misfortune will help others.

Hey all! How is everyone?

Well, Ady and I got married today. It's official!!!! We are pretty happy. Things are good. It's definitely different leaving together.

So, I've got a question. Now that we are married, do we need to let the USCIS know that we are? I thought that I've read somewhere that you need to let them know before the 90 day expiration date. Any advice?

Also, I will probably be emailing some of you in regards to AOS stuff! I need to get moving if I want to avoid the increased fees.

Congrats to you and your family, Pepito.

Why do people tend to get the blue paper?

Because, I suspect, most of the people there were illegal immigrants trying to get their visas. I was told it's pretty difficult to get a visa if you crossed illegally.

It's finally nice to have a life together now with my fiancee. It's definitely different but we love it so far. However, I feel like I am on a House extreme makeover tv show. She wants to do so much with my house. Arrrghhh. I guess my bachelor pad days are over.

Have a good weekend everyone.

I'm having a heck of a time filling out the Supplemental Form for men online...it asks for a specific form for dates and then doesn't accept it when I put it in, and there are some fields I simply can't type in.

Is it okay of I just fill in what I can online and then handwrite what it won't accept?

Yeah, I had problems filling in dates also. When I entered my birthday, it would enter the same date for all the other fields (non-birthday related). I just hand write the other dates.

Hello all.

Sorry to keep you guys on the edge. But the internet at the La Playa Hotel was severely lacking.

Monday, June 11: We flew from Hermosillo to Juarez airport. Cab ride from airport to La Playa hotel was $220 pesos (payable inside the airport). It's about a 15-20 minute cab ride.

Tuesday, June 12: We got to the medical center (right next to the US Consulate) at about 7:06am (but we thought it was 6:06am. Our cell phones were telling us the wrong time the whole time we were there). There were several people waiting but my fiance was called in at 7:09am. But I found out that she was waiting in the other room. She said that everyone in there was trying to get there visa due to entering the USA illegally. She felt like an outsider because she wasn't an illegal. The medical went fine. They asked her all the normal questions. They took blood and X-rays and looked her over visually. We were out of there at about 7:45am. They told us to come back at 2pm (but we got there at 2:50pm due to the cell phone again). Luckily we got there early because they close at 3pm.

Wednesday, June 13: We got to the US Consulate at 6:45am and had to wait in line to get in for about 20 minutes. We tried asking if I could go in with her but of course they would not let me. So I hung out across the street where all the other people were waiting. It was frickin HOT!!! But there is a coffee house there called D'Volada. I decided to go get a Frappecino there and found out it was air-conditioned and it had a great view of the enterance to the US Consulate. So, me being a fair-skinned English boy, I decided to spend my morning chillin in the AC and getting buzzed on coffee. I was waiting for my fiancee to come to tell us we had to go get pictures. My fiancee finally came out at about 9:30am. So I rushed across the street and she had her visa sticker in her passport and the infamous manilla folder with the documents (apparently the pictures that I used for the I-129F worked ok). So we got the visa!!!!!!! She said they really didn't even go through any of the information that I put together and didn't ask a whole lot of questions. She said it was a very quick interview.

Thursday, June 14: We left the La Playa Hotel at about 7:30am. Got a taxi to take us to the El Paso airport ($60 USD). The wait to get over the Cordova bridge was about 1.5 hours. Once we got to the questioning area, the taxi pulled over and told us to go in the pedestrian crossing. We went into the Permiso area and they quickly gave her a stamp and stapled a one time pass to her passport. We then stood in line (with our 5 suitcases) to get through. The women there was not so friendly and asked her what she planned on doing in the USA. My fiancee told her to get married and she said, "what else"? What kind of question is this? We then jumped in the taxi and he took us to the El Paso airport (10-15 minutes from the border).

And now we are in Detroit. It feels so good to have her here with me. Now, we want to get married ASAP and file for the AOS soon so she can get the Advance Parole travel documents. So, back to the drawing board of filling out more documents and paying more money!

Thanks to all that have helped me and my fiancee through this. This website ROCKS! I'm addicted to checking the posts everyday and still will (probably). I wish everyone here success. Feel free to ask me any questions on our experience.

Well, my fiancee and I traveled to Juarez today. The taxi from the Juarez airport to the La Playa hotel was only 220 pesos. The La Playa hotel is not the greatest and costs about 530 pesos per night (I think Red Roof Inns are nicer, if that tells you anything). I did manage to find a Wifi signal from somewhere. The medical place is right across the street and I think the consulate is next door. We didn't walk around much because it was raining.

Tomorrow we will go for medical. I will keep you guys/gals posted.

Adios mis amigos!

WOW, I've missed a lot since I last logged on Monday.

Congrats Marco and Stephanie. I am very happy for you.
Janet, I am sooooo sorry. Stay strong!!!!!!

Well, I have been in Hermosillo since Tuesday visiting my fiancee and working. We are flying to Juarez on Monday and attending the medical on Tuesday. By any chance, will any one else be there? We are staying at the La Playa hotel.

After reading all these posts, I've realized that things do happen. Hopefully, we will not have any hiccups while we are there. BTW, does anyone know if the La Playa hotel has Wi-Fi internet access? If something does go sour, I would like to post here for any of your help.

I've got a couple questions:

For the intent to marry form, it says that it should not be signed. I suppose that my fiancee will sign it in the interview. But what about the intent to marry form for me? As I am not allowed to be in the interview, do I just sign it now? And do I date it also?

Also, for the proof of my fiancee not being a public charge, did you bring proof of ownership of your property or real estate? They are asking for a title or deed.

Thanks!

BTW, I'll be in Hermosillo next Tuesday for work and then Ady and I are going to Juarez on June 11th. Hopefully, I won't need a desparate email to you all like Monica did. We are staying at the La Playa Inn Hotel. Is this a good or bad? I've heard the taxis like to quote high fares? Any idea how much it should cost from the CJ Airport?

Congratulations Monica. YOU ROCK! Sorry about your mishap and thanks for posting it. It will definitely help others on the Juarez thread.

BTW, Ady and I are now going to Juarez on June 11th. I've been way busy printing tons of stuff out for proof of relationship. I want them to tell us that we brought too much. It sounds like Stephanie is doing the same.

Stephanie, when is Marco (aka Mr. Stephanie) going again?

We are also going to enter through El Paso. I'm very curious about others adventures entering there. Would also like to know when the border opens and how long it will take for her to get through as our flight leaves at 12:30pm.

So my fiancee and I are traveling to CJ the week of July 4th. I understand that the Consulate will be closed on the 4th. What are the chances that it will be closed on any of the other days of that week? The 4th is a Wednesday, so we are looking at being there either the Monday/Tuesday or the Thursday/Friday.

Hello all.

Sorry that I haven't posted anything lately. I've been with my fiancee the past few weeks. We took a vacation to Argentina. It was great!!! We were flying out of Tucson, so we drove up from Hermosillo. I was a little worried at the border as they wouldn't let her in. We were questioned heavily and was ordered for a search. Luckily my fiancee had a letter from work stating that she was required to be back a work. Wheew! Worked like a charm. After the vacation, it was said to leave her behind.

BUT..... when I got home and sorted through my mail, I found a letter from the NVC saying that the documents were sent to CDJ. I then saw a big envelope from CDJ. We got the fiancee packet!!!!! I am so happy. Now I need to get off my butt and figure out what type of documentation I need to pull together.

We're thinking of going to CDJ the first week of July!!! Hopefully all goes well.

Do we have any others headed to Juarez soon? I think the rest of our Juarez buddies are waiting for NOA2 right?

Does anyone know what happened to Jamie or Louisa? It's sad they don't post anything on VJ anymore, :( . I'm thinking Jamie really did go live with Oliverio in Mexico. Does anyone have any news of either of them?

Hi All! I am new here!! My name is Janet and my fiance Edgar is from Acapulco. I am going to be sending the I-129F petition out in a few weeks for Edgar and just ready to start the process. I am SO GLAD I found this website!!! I am also extremely nervous about the whole process. It sounds more or less like the average waiting time between sending the I-129F and the Interview is about 6-7 months is that right?

I'm a wreck already and I haven't even started yet! Oh my!

Welcome Janet.

Yours will be quicker than most of ours on here simply because your I-129F will be processed in Vermont rather than California. I suggest you search for timelines using VSC and Mexico. It will give you some time estimates. I just searched and it said 141 days vs 189 for CSC.

Also, I heard that the process takes longer if you apply for it in the Winter rather than the Summer. Is there any truth to this?

Hello people!

I am glad some people are having good luck from here. Unfortunately, I am not one. I don't know if this is a big deal or not but I sent in my I-129F package on 1/4/07 and as of today I still have not heard anything about my NOA1. My check has not been cashed and I have not gotten any confirmation from my certified mail. I was checking other timelines and it only took days to a week for theirs. Is this a slow time for NSC or CSC? Should I call them?

I've got a question for you all. Has anyone experienced going through the Nogales border? My fiancee likes to drive to Tucson occasionally. Will they allow her to travel in the US while our paperwork is getting processed? I'm going to be with her the weekend of Jan 27th and we are driving to Tucson. I'm a little nervous. Any horror stories from people on here? Any tips/tricks?

Thanks! You guys and gals ROCK!

Thank you Girls!!! I can't believe I finally got it :D I wonder if Louisa's fiance went to CDJ last week too, she said he was going to...

Welcome to our little group Marty, I'm not from Hermosillo but K is from Detroit and I'll be moving there soon too :)

Brenda, they didn't ask for K's tax information, they actually just took what I chose to give them (employer's letter, bank letter and 3 paystubs) and didn't ask for anything else. So maybe you don't even need them, I'm not sure how they would handle the co-sponsor cases though since they don't specifically ask for the I-134 form, maybe if you just have your co-sponsor's tax information it would be enough?

Allie, I'm really hoping everything goes great for you guys. Weather is really nice in Juarez, sunny and not so cold, but you still need a jacket though :) Good Luck!!!!

Well, I hope you like cold weather. Actually it hasn't been bad in Detroit lately. I'm a little nervious that my fiancee will totally hate Detroit. She's been up here in February and actually thought the weather would be worse.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F

When are you planning the non-civil part of the marriage? (and just a heads up, be careful with that... even though it is not a legal wedding, if for some reason the immigration officers mistake it as one you will have trouble)

After sending in the I-129F there is a long process before she actually gets a visa so you could probably do all that in the middle. Have you looked into the process for K-1s in Mexico yet? Every country does things differently. Some people get the visa immediately on completion of a successful interview, others get it shipped to them. I think you need to find these things out (by reading the guides, consulate websites and asking questions) before you make any plans!

But once she actually has the visa, I don't think she can use a different one to get into the US. I could be wrong on this as we never even looked into it, but think that I have heard once you get the K1 you can use it and only it.

Good luck

We're planning on having the non-civil wedding in April 2007. I just wanted to start asking these questions now. Thanks for your help J&JS. I'll have to try contacting the consulate down there.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F

Just wondering about a few things from your post....

Do you mean once the K-1 Visa is approved or really the I-129F? Because the I-129F is just a petition and there is still a process to go for her to get the actual visa.... Please clarify!

When she gets her actual visa, why wouldn't she just use it and come over for good?

During the process of obtaining the visa she can visit the US as long as she can prove her intention to return home until the visa is approved.

Well, here is the situation. We are getting married in Mexico (but not the civil portion) and would like to take a honeymoon to the carribean. As all of the cruise lines depart from a US city, she will have to enter the US. If she has an approved K1 visa, then she will not be able to leave the country to go to the Carribean. Therefore, I was thinking that we would send in the I-129F and not pick up the K1 Visa from the US Consulate in Mexico until we return from our honeymoon. Your thoughts?

To clarify, yes, just the ceremony portion will be held in Mexico. We will not be officially married until she gets her K1, enters the US, & we get married.

The big question is whether she will be allowed to enter the US while waiting for her K1 visa? She does have a tourist visa. Can she enter on that?

Is there anyone from the US Border Patrol that can answer these questions?

Because I was told that it could take up to 6 months to get the K3 visa from the date of marriage. Hopefully, we will get the K1 visa around the same time we get married in Mexico (non-civil) and then be able to enter the US anytime that is feasible for us (i.e. after the honeymoon).

I am marrying a Mexican national. We are having the wedding (non-civil) in Mexico on April 28th, 2007. And then will be having the civil wedding in the US at a later date. I am preparing the documentation for getting her a K1 Visa. However I want to try to time it right so after we get married in Mexico, she will be able to enter the US in the June timeframe.

Also, we are taking our honeymoon on May 2 to Buenos Aires but we have to drive from Mexico to Tucson, Arizona to catch the flight. Will she have any issues getting through the US border while waiting for the K1? Maybe there is a step in the K1 process to wait until after we get back from the honeymoon??

Any other issues?

Thank you.
