PhilippinesAvoid Philippine Airlines -- Possibly UNSAFE
I think the US Gov is in need of an attitude adjustment, their track record isnt 100% as well. I flew from the Dallas/Fort Worth area coming and going to the Philippines on AA awhile back and AA was delayed coming and going and one of the reasons was that the floor in the plane was unstable/loose (oops) And, coming back the flight I was suppose to catch left 15 minutes 'before' it was scheduled to depart! Leaving over 30 passengers in Dallas. They had to find a pilot and bring him a plane to get us back home (an hour & a half late).

The pilots and airport workers, security here are overworked and under paid....sound familiar? Its no different...

PhilippinesAny cheap hotel near SLEC?
Jenny stayed at the City Garden Suites, here in the usa it would be considered inexpensive...and the hotel was very nice, very close and was affordable.

Does anyone know the specifics about first time flyers getting an overweight allowance on baggage at Ninoy Aquino?

Jenny will ask this crucial question for JAL tomorrow. She will also ship other things needed.

Yes, and by the end of this month we will be reunited again here in the USA kicking.gif CFO was a little crazy there, but all in all everything went very smoothly.

on evaair.com in the hot e-fares section, it says the following:

1.A maximum of four passengers (including children) can be booked with each transaction provided that one of the adult passengers is the cardholder who pays for the transaction. (Someone is considered to be a 'child' if his/her age is between 2 to 11). You are required to present the credit card used to purchase the ticket during check-in at the airport. For identification at the check-in counter, you must use a credit card with the card number and name stamped into it. You are required to input your first name and last name exactly as displayed on the credit card. Passengers who fail to do so will be denied boarding unless they purchase a full-fare ticket at the airport ticket counter.

Does this mean that I cannot purchase a one-way ticket for my fiancee at the special e-fare rate?

I would call......always call when in doubt or having questions.

For David and Jenny-

Mobissimo and Vayama seem to have one-way into Tulsa for 770-850$ late Jan and early Feb.
I think it will be hard for you to do much better than that.

I think it needs to be understood that Im not looking for a boat to bring her here blush.gif its just the end result is to get her here. Planes are planes, maybe I feel this way because I have traveled a great deal all my life globally. There are many ways to get here, many to choose from, and all will pretty much take a long time...I just want to take the shortest route/and get a good deal if I can. So far Vayama is looking good.

PhilippinesDo we need to present the 2007 ITR during the interview?
QUOTE (shallan @ Jan 24 2008, 05:39 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My fiance doesnt have ITR for 2007 he wont have it until April he said. We got his 2007 payslips/paystubs. And also a letter from work stating how much he earns and how long he've been employed in that comany. I hope they wont make it a big deal. blink.gif

Did he file already for 2007? Here right now in the USA they are recommending people to file electronically, because the IRS hasnt the new forms yet available. Its something to do with Congress here...maybe someone can shed some light on this.

If he has filed his 2007 already, make a copy and have it notarized and sent to you along with the W-2 for 2007. Better safe than sorry, just my opinion.
DavidandJennyMalePhilippines2008-01-24 07:31:00
PhilippinesDo we need to present the 2007 ITR during the interview?
I can only say that an ITR wasnt sent, however a 'notarized copy' of my 2006 was given/sent as well as W-2 attached. And this was acceptable to the consulate. Having said that, I really think that it depends on who will interview you. So, in retrospect, I would have also had the ITR available as well, although we weren't asked for an ITR, but asked for the actual return.

*we are in the year 2008 and if you can obtain the 2007 ITR, then I would have this available, the more proof, facts, documents..the better...just my opinion.

My March 10 interview experience was a very pleasant one. My request for visa pick up was also approved. The Consul at window 32 was very nice. He did not even ask me my reason why I wanted a visa pick up though he told me he can't promise when will my visa be ready for pick up. Then 2pm of March11, I received a call from the Embassy telling me my visa is ready for pick up on March 12. So I picked it up in the morning of march 12 then had my CFo stamping in the afternoon! Now I just arrived at my place and will start packing my things. Am leaving on March 20. Wowee!!

Thanks for all the help VJ family for all the helpful information. good.gif good.gif good.gif

PhilippinesThe cheapest international call
Making calls can get very expensive. In the past year (actually longer) I have used Sprint calling cards (ouch $$), ATT (before I knew they had a international long distance plan wacko.gif ) Various discounted calling cards (cheap ones .11¢ and poor quality, many dropped calls) FiLam (terrible quality .13¢ - .16¢) and primarily now for consistancy, quality, reliability, AT&T International on the home phone (.16¢ ) & I bought a Verizon Mobile Phone, and make calls internationally at about .19¢ when Im on the go here.

Overall...expensive if you make a lot of calls. Can't use the Aspen Service (location in Mindanao/Zamboanga del Norte) Have used many hours courtesy of Yahoo & Skype (best) online (free sort of) however internet service depending where you are in the PI is unreliable, sometimes very sloooow and will cost a little for your SO. And is not very convenient for your SO to battle the crowds, traffic & inconvenience, So, I bought a laptop for jenny. And she has used Smart for her internet service this past year.

Buying the laptop has probably saved us hundreds of dollars/php. And you can see and talk kicking.gif

PhilippinesK-1 Visa denied at interview, for meeting at Cherry Blossoms.com
I know that one of the questions on the I129F form initially filed asks if you met through a marriage broker.

I also know that Cherry Blossoms will file your papers/assist you essentialy for a fee and I have yet to actually talk to anyone that has used their services and had thought about using this service because I wanted to make sure the papers were all correct....but decided not to. Filipina heart, well seems like just a meeting place for people. Sorry to be so ignorant about both of these places, if in fact they are marriage brokers.

But it does seem to be an important area in question. I would make very sure that, from the get go, that in your hearts you know that you are meant to be with one another and have a lot of proof, ongoing proof. Just be very detailed and organized with anything you send or file..and be honest.
