US Citizenship General DiscussionHello.... N400 delayed, Rude USCIS Supervisor, No Changes in RFE status, Congressional Enquiry

thank you for your time and responce))

no as  i said i have a different situation with all the timelines being overpassed))my interview hasn't been even scheduled yet.on sept 23d it has been placed in line for the scheduling but i didn't hear anything ever since.they said it should take for about 0 days to schedule the interview, but now it was over 90 days and there is no progress,i'm getting concerned and mad,i don't know what's wrong and  calling there didn't really help me much, they didn't provide any information and just suggested to file the form.that is it.

i guess i'm just trying to see what options  i have if things go wrong.

Have you tried an infopass to see what is the issue? You need to atleast try this before going to your congressman. You need to try everything you can before taking it up further.

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 July 2013 Filers

So we are past 90 days since being placed in line for the interview.  As suggested when you check your case status online I called the 800 number to report that we are over due.

The first guy we talked to put us on hold a couple of times and then said he needed to transfer us to an immigration agent.  The recording said the estimated wait tme was 87 minutes!  There was an option to leave a call back number which we did but they did not call back.

Is anyone else past the 90 days in line without an interview date?  What else can we do?  Thanks in advance.

You can be in line for more than 90 days too. It depends on your local office and the their current speed. The 90 days does not apply to the inline status. For example Miami is currently processing close to 2 1/2 months behind. So I could be inline for 75 days before it goes to schedule. NY city is even way behind than Miami.

So it all depends on your local office backlog.

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 July 2013 Filers

Interview was on as scheduled today Oct 3rd at the Dallas Irving Office.  They were running a little behind and may be a little short on staff but they are still holding interviews.  I was surprised at how many people did not pass.  We were an hour early but they let us go in anyway since they had room upstairs.  Had to get fingerprinted and picture taken for some reason but everything went fine.  Should get a letter in a couple of weeks with the oath scheduled.

Congrats for passing the interview.

How many did not pass and do you know the reason why they failed?

girimurthyMaleIndia2013-10-04 10:15:00
US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 October 2013 Filers.

I am assuming if you did pass the interview but did not take the oath yet, you are not a USC yet, right?

What we are trying to find out is how long before one can apply for a US passport after the interview?

Not until you take the oath and get the Naturalization certificate in hand. You need that to apply for the passport

girimurthyMaleIndia2014-01-06 16:18:00
US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 October 2013 Filers.

In our case, our interview was scheduled and then we received the yellow letter a week later.

I totally understand that "Ghanasco and March2010" claiming that they have no interview dates.

I want to ask the experts... Can you get "yellow letter" without interview letter or interview date scheduled?

Yellow letter can come at anytime. Some of the cases does not even get a yellow letter. So do not give any importance to this letter.

Out of nowhere I too got an 'On December 4, 2013, your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION was scheduled for interview' email today!

Im super happy and super worried at the same time. Im really hoping this is scheduled at least a month out with the upcoming holidays.
I have to be out of the state until the beginning of the year for a family convern.
Ive been in LETS GO LETS GO LETS GO mode for so long and now the one time I really wish USCIS was a bit slow, I might have my interview scheduled. Haha.

It is always minimum a month away from the time you get the text. So for sure your interview will be next year only. So have a nice holidays.

girimurthyMaleIndia2013-12-05 09:33:00
US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 October 2013 Filers.

So having said that.....I just went online to check my "case status" and it said:

"Testing and Interview

On December 2, 2013, your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION was placed in line for interview scheduling"

However, I did not get a textr or email....I did for the receipt of the application...wierd...

Hopefully info via text/email or good opld fashioned snail mail will follow shortly!

The initial text after application was due to the other form you sent in. Did you turn on the email and text option online after you got your case number? You will get the text and email only if you turn them on your preferences.

Another question...     We are new to FL and I was wondering how do I go about finding out what our new local field office will be for interview and biometrics?

(Crestview, FL, 32539)   We live in a little town far north west. I have a feeling it is going to be far away

I am not sure but according to this website Jacksonville office is the one for Okaloosa County which is close to 300 mi away.

Hi Guys, my wife received the NOA for her N400 application. Her priority date is 30 Sep 2013.

The NOA mentions nothing about the bio-metrics. Simply states to verify the address and says that she will be called for interview when necessary record checks are received.

Is it normal???

I was hoping that it will be explicitly mentioned about the next steps.

Any suggestions?

Yes that is normal. You will get a separate notice for the biometrics. You will get that once they schedule the same.

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 October 2013 Filers.

Hi, I am another October filer. smile.png

I sent in packet 2nd october and its going to be delivered today 10/03/2013.  Also I have a question.

In september filers thread, i read that someone can receive the text message and e mail alerts, like when they receive the case NOA notice etc.

But i tried making online account with USCIS and it wants me to enter receipt number to get alerts, which i dont have. So i am wondering how someone can do that while in very initial stage.

Thanks.

Have you filed G1145 along with the N400. If you did then you will get the text and email once NOA accepts it. If you did not then wait for I767 in the postal mail which might take a week or two. Then you can use the website to track your application.

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 November 2013 Filers

Congrats to everyone done with this process. It is taking forever for me to get an interview date. Been in line since 12/27/2013 still no interview. Got the yellow letter like a month ago. I am Atlanta field office. I called USCIS and they said Atlanta Field office is still doing cases from July 2013. It is very surprising because most people are done in 4-5 months while I dont even have an interview date.

Atlanta is busy but you should get the interview letter soon. And also it is not far for you too. If your NOA is in Nov then five months puts you in April and we are just in Feb. After the interview the oath will be done a week or so. So do not worry. You can go to http://www.trackitt....n-trackers/n400 and select atlanta to find dates on when you might get the interview. According to trackit people who were inline in beginning december got the inerview letter just now

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 November 2013 Filers

Already getting antsy here.  Not sure why we're in the queue for an oath ceremony instead of it being scheduled - Pittsburgh is not a busy office.  Sigh.

That is the issue with not a busy office. All the other things happens fast(finger printing and interview). But they wait for enough people to pass to conduct the Oath ceremony and you end up waiting for the same. Hang in there and it will happen soon.

Congrats to everyone getting almost through with this process.

I have been in line for interview since Dec 27th 2013. Still no sign of status change or interview letter. I did recieve the yellow letter almost three weeks ago asking me to bring my Green card during interview. Should I be worried?

No. I waited 2 months to get a interview letter. Some waited even longer.

girimurthyMaleIndia2014-02-03 17:11:00

Quick question - I received the yellow letter and it only asks that I bring my driver's license - which feels a little light for me. Should I bring anything else, just in case?

Same goes for my wife...

Hi it is a standard letter. Just bring what they asked. They sent me the same letter and we never had any traffic tickets.

girimurthyMaleIndia2014-01-18 10:55:00
US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 November 2013 Filers

Hi, all.  I was just peeking at a few timelines from earlier-than-us filers to see where we stand (just mailed package this week).  What does "in line" mean for a naturalization filer?  Since it looks like the whole process generally takes less than a year, what anniversarry date are you guys talking about?

These are the various steps in N-400 process

Anniversary is the either the 3 year(by marriage) or 5 years completion from the date you became a Permanent Resident according to your green card

Let me explain the various stages below

|Eligible|Sent....|ChkCashd|NOA.....|Fprints.|In-line |Int Ltr.|Intview.|Oath....|FieldOffice

1)The eligible date is either 3 year or 5 year -90 days when you can send N-400 else it will be rejected

2) Sent - the date you sent your n-400 package to uscis along with the check

3) Chkcashed is when it got cashed

4) NOA - is the application priority date. You will get it from USCIS once they accept your application

5) FPrints - after they accept they will send another mail with the bio-metric appointment letter. This is the appointment date for the same

6) After finger printing you be moved to inline for interview(how long you stay in this stage depends on your local office speed) Also if you filed 90 days earlier than your anniversary then you won't move to this stage till you are just anniversary - 30 days

7) Int Ltr is when you get the interview appointment letter from USCIS

8) Interview is your interview appointment date

9) After interview you will move to oath schedule queue and then they will schedule your oath. You fill in your oath date here

10) Field office is your local field office

In general the process takes 4-5 months in average even if you file 90 days before your anniversary.

Bundle of thanks for sending briskly responses. I had my FP done on 12/18 as of today no such update sad.png not even "In Line" just wondering how much longer it's gona take more ? My anniversary date is on Feb 22

Thanks much smile.png

You will move to inline 30 days before your anniversary. So it will be only on Jan 22 it will move to inline for interview

Greetings All,

Just a quick and a silly question that raised in my mind that what if someone during his/her half journey to Interview he happens to fly overseas?, what impact will it bring on the case ? Let?s say is it fusible for an applicant to put his case on hold till he gets back to States? Did anyone experience a weirdo scenario like this before? Don't hesitate to drop your line for me smile.png

Regards

Two scenarios:

1) If you got the interview letter then you can always ask for reschedule. It will just delay your application

2) If you got the interview letter and you miss it then the application will be considered abandoned and you have to start all over again

Hi Shub,

I am in-line from 12/11 onwards...need to know whether our status on the USCIS site will change when they dispatch the interview letter to us or any other notification will come from them...

Raj

Yes the case status will say that the interview letter has been sent once it is scheduled. The speed all depends on your local office. It took little over two months for me in Hialeah, FL to go from inline to interview letter.

girimurthyMaleIndia2014-01-07 11:58:00
US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 November 2013 Filers

Hello,

I am new to this forum, these are my dates:

Elegible: 11/22/2013

Sent: 11/23/2013

Received by UCSIS: 11/25/2013

Priority: 11/25/2013

Check: 11/29/2013

NOA: 12/02/2013

Fingerprints done: 12/13/2013

I sent it to Phoenix AZ and my local office is Chicago. Could you add me to the list?

I have not seen any updates to my case since 12/04, I called them today and got nothing out of it. Told me to wait until 01/15 which is when they update the system.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

When you say eligible 11/22/2013 is it the -90 days or the 3/5 year anniversary?

If it is -90 then your case won't move to inline for interview till 1/22 (-30 days) from the date of the anniversary

girimurthyMaleIndia2014-01-06 17:50:00
US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 November 2013 Filers

I see. Thanks.

Well, my anniversary will be February 28, 2014. So you are saying in January i should be moved to "online for interview"? , but that the actual interview won't be until probably March?.

Yes. You will be moved to inline on Jan 28th 2014. Now I see that your local office is Miami. Right now Miami is close to 2 to 2.5 months behind. I am inline from sept 26th and still no date yet for interview. So calculate roughly two months from Jan 28th which is March 28th when you might get a letter. From the letter to interview is a month away so maybe interview in April 28th.

girimurthyMaleIndia2013-12-05 13:55:00
US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 November 2013 Filers

Hi everyone. I am confused by the above posts about eligibility date. What does that mean?. That if you filed within the 90 days before your actual anniversary date comes up your case won't be process any faster?.

I ask because i filed exactly on the first date that my window of eligibility opened for me. I figured, the sooner i file, the sooner it will go through the process. Am i mistaken? Can someone please elaborate further?. I am a December filer BTW.

It will still be faster than filing after the anniversary. You can get your fingerprinting done. But you case won't move to "Inline for Interview" till you are month away from the actual anniversary. The interview will be only after you complete the 3 year or 5 year. For these cases there is no point doing an early biometric walk in as it is not going to help much. And if you field office is the quick ones then you interview will be right after you complete 3/5 years so it is def. faster than filing after you complete 3/5 years.

girimurthyMaleIndia2013-12-05 11:58:00
US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 November 2013 Filers

The eligibility date is what it matters at the end as we can't have the oath before it.Mine for example is February 7th, so even if i did an early walk in ( and you are not 100% sure they allow you ) i could have probably  received my interview letter a week before of the one that i will get now, So? I do not see it as a big deal, not arguing here just making a point. In my opinion early walks in  do not speed the Naturalization process at all.

All I am saying is that don't make a general statement. Yes if you filed 3 months before eligibility then you are not going to speed up anything. But there are lots of cases where they file much after eligibility like I filed after 2 years my eligibility date. So early walk ins does speed up our cases.

girimurthyMaleIndia2013-12-05 10:13:00
US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 November 2013 Filers

early walks in, in my opinion, won't speed up the process .Why the need to do it ? If you can't go at the appointment date just have it rescheduled...ClockWatch2.gif ClockWatch2.gif

It does speed up the process based on the office. My friend got the appointment letter on 9/15 for 10/08 biometric . He went on 9/16 and got it done. He got his interview letter on 10/03. Now that def. did speed it up else he would have waited another 20 days for his interview letter.

Just want to update my N-400 timeline. I received a notice of action - I-797 C today, but it has no biometrics appointment noted anywhere in said form. It only shows my date of birth and my address and ask for me to make sure that both are correct. And then,  it also says 'upon receipt of all required Record Checks, you will be scheduled to appear for an interview'. Does it mean I'm gonna get a separate notice for my biometrics? Thanks in advance.

Yes that is a separate mail for appointment

Did you receive the actual letter in mail? And if you did how long did it take since your online notification?
The reason why I'm asking is because my online status just changed and it says that they scheduled my biometrics and mailed me appointment letter.
Thanks in advance buddy

It usually takes 3-5 business days from notification to receiving it

Question:

Got a yellow letter requesting me to bring my driver's license and all old passports. Is this common? I've heard people saying they need to bring driver's license, but do you also get request for old passports? Maybe it's because I traveled a lot to different countries? (all under 6 months though). Appreciate any response.

You have answered your own question. Maybe the IO wants to check the passport for all the travels. This letter changes a lot for everyone. do not worry. Just bring all the documents requested. Sometimes they do not even ask you see it.

When I got in-line received text and email but no letter. Can the folks who got scheduled for interview tell us whether you receive a text and/or email before you receive a letter for interview ?

You will only receive text for moving to in-line. You will the actual letter when they schedule the interview and also the text and email

and u normally cant do bio after two weeks u filed because it takes at least two weeks until u get the appointment notice....so appointment is normally 4 weeks after u filed

no. that is not true too. Take my case. My priority date is 9/11. I got the biometric on 9/21 and did a walk in on 9/24 and my case moved to inline on 9/26(i did not file 90 days before infact 2 years later)

I did my biometric less than 2 weeks.

I don't think that the fact that u filed early has something to do when they put u in line...my guess is that they put u in line when the background checks are completed and it shouldn't have anything to do with ur anniversary date

This is not true fully. Yes you will be inline only after background is done either way.

But if you file 90 days before your anniversary and say you finished biometric after two weeks you file, there is noway your case will move to inline 30 days before anniversary even if the background  check clears.

This is a very interesting fact. I had my biometrics 2 weeks ago, and i filed " early", meaning i filed on the first day that my 90 day window opened. I also have not seen a change as to being placed "in line" for interview. My anniversary date in February 28th. Does this mean that i will be put in line for interview after that date?. And if the interview takes place about a month after being placed in line, does that mean i would probably have the interview by april? (if lucky), as my local office does not do same day oaths, i am probably looking at having the oath in May or June?.

What do you think?. I am getting really tired of waiting.

You will move to inline 30 days before the anniversary. Any interview set always has 30 days of lead time that way you interview will always be after your anniversary. So on Jan 28th it will move to inline and then it depends on your local office when you will get the interview letter

no update on my "in line status" does it usually take 30 days to move from "in line" to get a date?

It depends on your local office. It can take anywhere from 1 day to 3 months.

Question also on fingerprints do they change anything online when they send it? I mean do they put something like bio letter sent? Thanks...

Yes. The status will say that a bio metrics appointment letter has been sent.

I have received a text message today from USCIS saying that they have mailed a receipt notice (form I-797) and then it says that my case has been routed to the National Benefits Center. Is this standard procedure?. I thought the case was going to be handled and processed by the offices in Texas, where i sent my package.

Also, there is a NBC and a number in the text but when i input the number on the text on the USCIS website , it says invalid number. Should i just wait for the NOA to come in the mail?.

Use the full number including NBC*

My check to USCIS was cashed today December 5. Now i am awaiting my NOA. Question for those who know: Do the NOA have the case # that i should enter on the USCIS site to track your case?.

Yes the case number will be in the NOA. IT will be something like NBC*00000000000000. Remember to enter the NBC* too in the uscis website.

Five to six months wait is actually not that slow. Most cases are actually processed in about 4 months. If you filed in sep you should hear something soon. Are you waiting for fingerprints still?

No. Waiting for the interview letter. Some of them even got the oath letter who filed in Sept but it takes a long time for interview to be sch. in south florida due to the huge number of cases they have.

I agree. It is useful to know how your field office is doing and how long are the averages processing times. BTW, my field is the Miami office.

Sorry to say but Miami is a very slow office. People who filed in August are still waiting for the interview. I field in Sept and still waiting.
