National Visa Center (Dept of State)Does my police record need to be translated?

Hello,

A translation is not required. Please check with US State Dept website which says "All documents not written in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations and submitted to the NVC." This means to say that if your spouse is applying for the visa from Germany, then translation from German to English is not required. However, it would be best to verify with the Consulate in Germany to confirm.

Dear all,

thanks for your replies. My husband called NVC yesterday and was told that a translation was not necessary as my police record will be forwarded to the consulate in Frankfurt which accepts documents in both German and English.

Hey everybody, I've got a quick question concerning my police record - do I need to get an official translation before sending it to NVC or can I simply send my German version? Thanks in advance for your reply! :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 Forgot to sign the cover letter . . .
Hello fellow Vj'ers,

Sitting on the couch tonight cruising through VJ timelines I suddenly realized I forgot to sign the cover letter! I double checked my copy of the packet and my signature was no where to be found on the cover letter. Is this a reason for rejection? I can't find anywhere actually stating that cover letters are required so I thought I would ask around to see if any one has had any similar experiences or knowledge on the matter.

Thanks in advance!

Ryan

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestions regarding Germany Police Records.

My wife went to get her police records from the rathaus, she was told that they had 5 different types of police records that she could obtain, I dont know the names of the other ones but she told me she ordered the "private" ones, does anyone else have any input on this situation? or know anything about the records she should get?
\\thanks

I am also German and recently had to order my police records.. I, as well, wasn't sure which police record to get even though in Stuttgart they only offer two different types - the "erweitertes Führungszeugnis" (extended police record) and the "einfaches Führungszeugnis" (ordinary/simple police record). I ended up asking the same question in a different forum with mainly German speakers and was told that an ordinary record would suffice.

I received it the other day and it mainly just states that I have no criminal record, nothing more nothing less - so now I'm simply hoping I got the right one!

If your wife has further questions, feel free to shoot me a private message :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCertificate of Good Conduct!! help please!!
I would order a new police certificate. NVC seems to be really sloppy with applicants' documents, they lost several of our originals yet claimed they had never received them (I had to send three birth certificates) and we lost a lot of time because we initially decided to wait for the outcome of their multiple reviews (aka internal search for our documents which I doubt ever took place)...
