Hm...my case was transferred to CSC on February 25th but still no comfirmation of reciept from CSC. No email, no mail notice, no changes online... What about others who were transferred - did you recieve the 2nd notice???

It's clear that VSC just started on April cases so showing that it's "as of January 31st" is clearly wrong. Anyone esle noticed the same?

Hi everyone. Just trying to understand how the approval procedure works for us, VSC to CSC transferees. Just trying to figure out the sequence of events - i.e. emails/letters of transfer from VSC, emails/letters of reciept in CSC, touches, approval notification (online, email letter). Who got what?

Second question - did anyone get a NOA from VSC confirming the transfer (not just emial/online notice change)?
And last one - did anyone get a confirmation of reciept from CSC in any form (email, NOA, online)?

My case was transferred on 25th of February and i never recieved anything in mail and no CSC reciept confirmation. Should i be worried or not?

As far as i'm concerned, the only abuse that counts is the physical one. That is the only one that can bring harm to you against your will and there is nothing the victim can do about it. If abuse is emotional, there is always the door you can walk out through. Simple as that.
Now 2 important exceptions:
1) If victim is physically held against his/her will and then abused emotionally, then it should qualify as physical abuse. Important distinction - victim can not walk away without being harmed.
2) Underage victims. Children by definition are fullly dependant on their parents and therefore qualify as "held against their will" if abused emotionally. Same goes for a victim who is physically disabled or impaired. If a full functioning adult puts him/herself in a situation of full dependency on another person and therefore feels like there is no way out, tough ######. It's his/her personal problem.

That is logical. Maybe not "humane" by someone's standards, but logical. Everyhing else is a bunch of liberal whining

Rika and alimar have given you some excellent pointers. I agree that cruelty and VAWA may need more evidence. It will definitely qualify for a good faith waiver. An experienced lawyer will give you an exact evaluation. Maybe you can apply in one or more categories, or claim one withdraw it and file another. There are many strategies.

Finally justashooter---- Stop your "I just see..I dont see" BS. laughing.gif We don't care about what you see and what you don't. Please comment on how you can help the posters sister. If you cant see certain things I would recommend lasik surgery, its cheaper in China laughing.gif tongue.gif

Well, he is right. There is no cruelty there. They kicked her out of the house due to whatever happened between them and posted a note that she is no longer welcome. I don't see anything illegal about it - it's his parents house, not her or his. Unless there is evidence of physical abuse, forget about it. It's a free country - anyone can call police and complain but it doesn't make it true. While domestic violence is a serious crime, it also requires a serious evidence. There isn't any here.

I cant disagree with you more. The OP is from India, and typically where the husband and his parents abuse the wife for dowry. The women are submissive and treat their husbands with respect no matter how abusive they are. Divorce, separation, calling the police is seen as a mark of disrespect and shame. The USC spouse was financially weak, stayed with his parents, and was greedy for dowry. The unreasonable dowry demands were not met, the abuse started, and the arranged marriage went downhill. A perfect stereotype of an Indian arranged marriage involving a greedy, lazy, loser, USC without a house, and a submissive, culturally strong Indian lady who could not meet his unreasonable demands.

Sure we don't see any cruelty in what the OP has posted. We have to look beyond normal and read between the lines. Also we have to know more about different traditions worldwide not just the mundane or banal "free" American tradition that we so used to.

We have to hear more from the OP about the causes of the breakup and abuse. The above maybe speculation but again classic Indian Dowry Abuse.











I agree with that, but i still don't agree that it meets abuse defenition. Do you realize how serious the "domestic abuse" conviction really is? Even if it's a "misdemeanor domestic abuse" and not a "feony DA" it's still a major crime and should not be thrown around to punish every irresponsible man or every husband who ever raised voice speaking to the wife. Nowadays soceity got so sensetive about these thing, it's just ridiculous. You can spank your kid for acting like a jerk and before you know he'll report you for domestic abuse and screw you over for life not even understanding the implications of his actions. And then people are surprised about how out of control kids are nowadays and what kind of unimaginable stuff they do. Well, no big surprise - government doesn't allow parents to parent without getting involved - here is what you get. It's time to get real and make soceity a little less sensetive to unimportant things and start taking care of real problems.
Now half of that is offtopic to the OP, but my point is - get divorced, get your sister away from this guy, but don't make things up when it's not necessary to.

Also the huge out of pocket expense for the I-693 that seemed crazy to me as they could have had every disease known to mankind but only had to agree to counseling to get in. Fortunately, both my wife and daughter were clean.

Hardly came home from the AOS interview after writing down that I-751 number and read about no work, no travelling a possible deportation if you fail to file on time. So spent a lot more money getting my wife's name added to my possessions. We had everything prepared well before the 90 day time limit, but after reading the net on how long it was taking, wondered why it's only 90 days. Only to get that stupid one year extension I had a hell of a time explaining to her employer and to the state DMV. Then it took 14 months and one week before we actually got that card from the time we sent in the application. Was all set to make an infopass appointment as our USCIS field office won't see us until we are within two weeks of that one year extension notice expiration date. It was crazy.

This led us to learn we could apply for the N-400 proving LPR with her expired green card and copies of her one year extension precisely 90 days, well 89 days as that occured on a Sunday. Wife is a USC now, but these times were extremely stressful for us as I am sure for everyone that has gone through this.

And the USCIS does not send you any reminders and they do not mutually agree on their appointments dates, you either show up at the precise time, or you are screwed. Perhaps having six years of my life taken away by this country to serve in the military has brainwashed me, just one second late and end you up in the stockade for two weeks, no excuses for being late, and what is this stuff about freedom?


Jeez...all that happened in Illinois you said? Holy #######. Another reason for me not to live there in case their denial of my basic constitutional right and level of corruption wasn't enough. So, they wouldn't give your wife with absolutely legal papers a DL and DMV and treat you like #######, but the governer can sell senate seats and not even get in jail for that? Wow! In VA i didn't really feel much impact of green card expiration. My employer never even asked to reverify my status when my green card expired. And DMV took my one year extension letter and didn't even ask ####### is that. My DL was also due to expire the same day is the greencard, so i went to DMV with the extension letter and expiring card and they extended my DL for exactly one year in like 10 minutes. They even charged me less that normal since the DL was valid only for about a year, not for the full 5 year period as they normally issue them. By the way, there is a trick with employer not to get harrased about expiring GC. When you get the first 2 year GC you can go to Social Security office and get a new SS card without "Valid for work only with DHS authorization" note on it. Even though GC is only valid for 2 years, they still do that since you are a permanent resident. After that, all you'll need for employment eligibility verification is your DL and SS card - just like any USC, no green card is necessary. Now if you didn't remove the conditions and became out of status, i imagine SS will be notified and when your SS number is used for tax paying purposes, employer will be notified. But as long as you are legal and follow the law, this a loophole to verify your employment eligibility.
Back to the topic, I personally cannot imagine how you can just forget to file I-751. We were very aware of this date coming up and had everything ready well in advance and mailed the package exactly 90 days before 2-year GC expires.

The reciept number from NOA normally doesn't work. You can try it online to make sure that result is the same, but i think it will be. What you need is the reciept number on your biometrics appointment letter - that is the trackable one (and yes, it is different from NOA number). Don't ask me why it's done that way - it makes no more sense than half of other things CIS (or Federal government as a whole for that matter) is doing...

I posted this in a different thread before. What you need to do is to go to the Social Security Administration with your GC and old SS card and request a new card without the note "Valid for work only with DHS authorization". SS card never expires, so now you can always use it. According to "Employment eligibility verification form" you would only need to show your GC or EAD or any other employment verification document from CIS in addition to your SS card if the SS card still has the "Valid for work only with DHS authorization" note on it. Once you get a clean SS card with no restriction, you can use it in conjuction with your DL to prove employment eligibilty, noone will even ask you for the GC. I did that and my employer never even knew my GC expired, and i didn't have to do anything. I did my part, they did their part, the rest is between CIS and SS if they want to verify that my PR status is still current. I don't know if it meant to be that way or it's just a loophole in the law, but as long as you stay legal at all times, don't break any laws and keep your CLPR/LPR status current, you should be in the clear and your employer is satisfied.

Just my wild guess...but maybe they are phasing out VSC as a I-751 processor alltogether?! Just like they did before with TSC. Maybe VSC being that slow and CSC being that fast with I751s isn't just random, maybe it's a result of workforce shifting as part of a plan to make CSC the only place processing I-751 for the whole country. It seems in general they are going more and more away from specializing centers by region to specializing them by types of application types they process. Anyone else noticed that?

The new 10 year GC, is is supposed to be 10 years from original 2 years GC approval date = 8 years valid card? or add 10 years to the 2 years conditional GC = 10 years valid card?

The physical green card is valid for 10 years since date of issuance, whatever that is.
The status, once conditions are removed, NEVER expires.
If in 10 years you forget to renew your green card, your status is still legal, you just don't have "plastic proof".
However, if you break the residence requirement before the green card expires, your status could be revoked.
Basically, once conditions are removed, there's nothing else required to do from the immigrant.
Just a renewal every 10 years. Just like the driver's license, but with no eye exam... biggrin.gif

The card is valid for full 10 years from the day it was issued (few days after I-751 approval). But the only 2 dates on it is "expiration date" and "resident since" date which is the date the conditional GC was issued. So in my case, "resident since" is october 2006 but expiration date is 2019, not 2016.



Hey, I'm resident since Oct 2006 as well, and my wife is russian, so we have something in common.
We will probably apply for citizenship around the same time...


Actually, i think our timelines are almost identical. My conditional GC was also issued on 10/24/06! good.gif
So, which one of you is a USC and which one is the immigrant? You have Italy listed on there but then say your wife is Russian...

I was wondering about that.... how are they going to fit another one on there - seems like they would have to redesign the card after another one or two presidents... biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif


They will just probably make them all smaller. Or if things go the way they do, they will probably take out all of them and leave only the "Messiah" and rewrite history like they do back in the old country...He would probably have to find his birth certificate first though and not get impeached for violating the Constitution... sorry for offtopic

One question if anyone can clarify please:

The new 10 year GC, is is supposed to be 10 years from original 2 years GC approval date = 8 years valid card? or add 10 years to the 2 years conditional GC = 10 years valid card?

Does your letter come from CSC or VSC? If it's VSC, totally not surprised, they're called the "Very Slow Center" after all.


Not sure, haven't seen the letter yet - my wife told me it arrived. But i'd bet that it's from VSC. Damn, i like Virginia, but i almost feel like moving to AZ or NV just not to deal with VSC ever again...

NO, I didn't receive any confirmation from CSC. I only receive an email, and a letter from the mail from VSC stating about the transfer. As of now, my online status says it is still pending.
