PhilippinesHow many NSO's needed....

The embassy will ask for your birth certificate and CENOMAR issued by NSO. You also need one birth certificate for your passport application. For NBI clearance, you can use any valid government issued ID but if you don't have any you need NSO birth certificate as well.

Thank you! Thank you!

PhilippinesHow much do FedEx cost?
Hi to all!

Any idea how much the FedEx charges for freight from U.S. to Tagum City?
And how much per pound do they charge?

I'd appreciate any replies.

PhilippinesWhat IDs will work to get a passport?

how soon are you going to embassy? The NBI clearance takes a while to get in the Brgy. If you can go to the main NBI office in Manila, you can get usually get it the same day. I would suggest getting a couple of copies of the NBI. The top portion of One will be used for passport, and top portion of the other one will be used at the US Embassy during the interview.

Please not the Philiippines passport photo is a little different in size from the US passport photo in size.

Wish you the best of luck.

Oh! I'm not aware that I need several copies of my NBI too. Well, I'll make sure that I have at least 2 copies. (I hope 2 is enough???) How about my NSO for my Birth Certificate and Cenomar, will I need more than one copy each?
I appreciate your reply.

PhilippinesWhat IDs will work to get a passport?

old school i.d. If u still have it, tht's wat i used when i apply passport, old nbi,old policdc., all old i.d's lolz but if u have old school i.d. Prepared u school record like form 138 to support tht i.d, for me kasi it faster to get school record to
support my old school id than getting other i.d. Tht will take so long to release like driver's license but i applied my passport last 2008 pa and better too if u have present school i.d.

Wow! All old, huh? I wish now that I didn't throw away some of my old documents like my 2008 NBI clearance and police stuff. I hope my OLD transcript of records will also be accepted. But thanks for the tip.

PhilippinesWhat IDs will work to get a passport?

certified copy of birth certificate comes to mind as the number one document you will need, those others you listed I doubt they would want. I am sure they have a website with requirements also.

Thanks so much for the reply. I've already looked through the DFA site and the requirements. I just want to make sure. Thanks again.

PhilippinesWhat IDs will work to get a passport?
Hi everyone!
I'm going to get my passport and I wonder what IDs I'm going to need.
I don't have a Philhealth or SSS or Voter's ID. But I do have a Postal ID
as well as my philhealth's Member's Data Record (MDR). Will those be enough
as supporting documents for my passport application?

Thanks!

Philippinesmoney, ATM and exhanging
When my fiance came to visit me last December 2011, he had the same problem withdrawing money from his debit card. Some
of the atm machines in Davao and Tagum, will not let you withdraw cash of more than P4,200. That is just $100. Frustrating!
So he had to do it several times. The most he got though was only P12,000 for one day. And each time he made a withdrawal,
the bank charges him P200. That'll add up for sure if you keep doing that.

So be sure to bring crisp dollar bills with you if you prefer to go to a money changer. A little scratch, mark, tear and wear
will not be accepted.

TIP: Airport money changers have higher exchange rate than the malls and hotels.

PhilippinesCFO seminar
Thanks for the replies. But me and my fiance would like to know if the experience will be
smoother, if I already have my visa on hand to show to the people concerned during my
CFO seminar. Wondering if they will still give me a hard time with their questions, etc, even
if they already know that I was approved by the USEM.
Prism or St.Mary's, would it make a difference to them that the attendee already has a visa?

PhilippinesRandom things I learned in the K1 process
Hi! I just got my green NBI clearnace today. I went there at 8:15am and they released
my clearance at 10am.It would have been earlier if not for the 30 minutes
brownout.

The yellow is for the local, yes. While the green is given for those who
are going out of the country. But they do asked for the purpose and I told them
for travel abroad. If the country one is going to is the U.S.,Canada, Australia,
U.K, they put it in the clearance, like they did in mine. But if it's in the middle
east and Asia, the purpose is just travel abroad. :)

PhilippinesMedical Result...
I will be having my medical exam together with my 5-year-old son soon. I estimated 3 days for it to finish because we still have to
wait and go back for his Tuberculin Skin Test (TST)result. After that, the usual wait for the medical result to be sent to the US
Embassy is from 2-3 weeks, if I'm not mistaken.

Is there a chance that SLMEC will give the medical result, let's say, in a few days, if we arrange to go back there and pick it up, then
just handcarry it ourselves to USEM during our scheduled interview?

Thanks!

PhilippinesManila too dangerous for my fiancee to stay there...
When I read my fiance's thread, I was a bit worried because of some comments that were posted.
So I want the clear some points here.

**I was kidding with SS when he asked me if I knew how to speak tagalog. My answer was no. And he didn't asked me further.
What I meant at that time was, I don't used it, even when I converse with someone who speak tagalog. I usally answer in
bisayan or english. LOL! I do speak and understand tagalog well. I just don't use it 'cause I sound funny and my accent
is really bad. So I refrain from using it. When me and my 5-year-old son go to Manila, language is the least of our
problem.

**As far as being submissive-like, I totally disagree.
I'm a grown woman who know my capabilities and limitations, and where to place myself in certain situations.

**My family are the ones who are worried about my safety and that of my son. They are concerned about our well-being there.
No one can accompany us since most of them are working or have kids that go to school to take care of. But I already assured
and reassured them that me and my son will be fine.

**I have noted some suggestions that were given here. I will be able to use it when we finally leave for Manila in a few days.
In behalf of SS, my fiance, we thank you guys so much for all the help and suggestions.

**To B_J, no need to appologized. You were just trying to be helpful.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI travelled, I proposed, she accepted... the journey begins!
Hello!

Met my fiance in person on December 1st and he proposed on bended knee on December
2nd, in front of my family!

Now, we're so excited and looking forward to sharing our future together. Being new
here on VJ, we are hoping to get some tips and pointers on how we can proceed with
our documents with as little problem as possible.

We've read some great reviews here. And as we go on with our quest, I know that it
would be easier for us to achieve our goal, with some guide from VJ and the nice
people here.

Happy Holidays to everyone!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI travelled, I proposed, she accepted... the journey begins!

Hello all! New guy here.

I met my Filipina sweetie online in May 2011 and things are going very well.

On 1 Dec 11 I travelled to the Philippines and spent 2 weeks with her. We're engaged and starting the K1 visa process.

Now in the very early stages, we've been reading online here and getting the lay of the land. She'll be gathering information for her side and I'll do the same here. Once everything is ready, I'll send in the paperwork.

Just wanted to say howdy!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI-129F Mailed!
I have practically waited my whole life for you, baby. And I waited only 7 months
from the time I met you before I saw you.

Well, another 5 months or so is very long for me to see you again. But it'll be worth
it because it will mean that I'll be spending the rest of my life with you after!

We're on our wayyyyyyyy!!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA2 Approved
At 5a.m. on May 23, I text my fiance a good morning from the Philippines. He then replied
that I have to see him asap for some urgent matter. I beg him to tell me what was wrong since
he couldn't wait another day to tell me about it. But he refused and just asked me to go online.

When I finally got to the cafe, he told me to open my email and I read a big APPROVAL written in big
bold and RED letters!

My happiness knows no bound then.I know that there's still so much that lies ahead. But our journey
will not be as smooth sailing without the help and pointers from VJers!

THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVISA APPROVED!!

WOO HOO!!! Congrats!! I hear ya on the cleaning the man cave! I actually have a roommate that is waiting to get the boot at any moment!

Congrats again man! We go on July 2!

Hey, she say how long she was there and what they asked her?

My appointment was scheduled at 7:30am. Was there at 6:15. The waiting was something else.
The CO who interviewed me at window 59 was young and he was very nice. I don't know about the others.
He only asked me 3 questions! Can you believe that? I was ready for "battle" and he only asked me 3 simple
questions! Hehehe! Didn't even asked to see or checked my bag-full-of documents. But it went very well.
I was out there by 11:15. As I said, the waiting was something else.

She'll be fine too. Goodluck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTypo on divorce decree

Got the certified copy of my divorce decree from January 3 1997 today. Except the judge put Jan 3, 1996 in the date block on the front of the Order! A New Year's typo bites me 15 years later...

I contacted the clerk of court, who advised me that the OFFICIAL Order date is the one on the back page where the Order is date/time stamped. That date shows Jan 9, 1997 and the paragraph with the absolute divorce language is on that same page.

The clerk said that she will start the process to retrieve the case from the state capital and then have the date on the original order corrected. However, that will take "one or two months or more" according to the clerk!

My plan at this point is to go ahead and send in a copy of the Order as it is now, but to highlight and circle the divorce decree portion, the time and the judge's signature. And I'll move that page from the back to the front so that it's prominent.

Sound like a plan to ya'll?

Does anyone know if the typo will be an issue, since the official date is the one on the back page next to the judge's signature?
Please help...
