Bermuda Police Certificate

Hi again,

We're trying to get a police certificate showing good behaviour during my husband's time there. I've found form SF39 that we can send in with $100 (!!) and a selection of other proof of identity. Does this sound correct? It seems pricey as his other have been free or with a minimal processing fee. Here in the BVI we paid $10.

We haven't been able to get a helpful answer from the Bermuda police dept yet. Anyone out there from Bermuda?

Barbados interview question

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking ahead and have a question for you. As many of you know, the embassy in Barbados covers a good deal of the Caribbean. My German husband and I live on an island that is under their jurisdiction, but a separate country. For his interview we will have to go there. I've read several posts where people have mentioned haing their passport returned by FedEx after the interview. That won't work for us though, he won't be able to leave Barbados to get home without it. Does anyone know how this would work in our case? Will we have to stay there to wait for it?

Proving intent to establish domicile

Hi VJers!

I filed an I-130 petition for my husband in Feb. we're waiting for the NOA2 right now and working on the next steps. Right now we are both living outside the US. Our embassy is Barbados. Does anyone know how much proof and what sort they will require to prove my (USC's) intent to reestablish my domicile in the US after 5 years away? I'm want to make sure we're covered.

You need to put together your itinerary and check the visa/entry requirements for each country you will be visiting. Each country has their own rules. The American passport will be fine but do check for the Ukranian. Visas may be required. You should start now.

i seen on a different post that for newlyweds as long as you sent in your marriage certificate
that's its fine. That is all that is required since we cant not do much!?

and text message print outs would be like my billing print
showing that i texted her number right? it doesnt have to show
the actual message correct?

We didn't have the stuff the listed either. We got affidavits fom friends. Also, I sent in beneficiary forms from retirement accounts showing my husband as my new beneficiary. They seem to like financial ties that you can show. Good luck!!

We got out NOA1 email today, 3 days after sending off the I-130 packet off from the Caribbean. After much hoping and praying, we got the word that our case has been sent to VSC. I've read and read and think that VSC looks like the safer bet. Sorry CSC filers! I know we have a good 5-6 months of waiting but I'm feeling encouraged for the moment.

VCS slowing down

I made a spreadsheet of all the I-130s I could find that were received on the same day as mine. I've got about 500. About 5% have been decided and 3% RFE'd. Now, maybe I'm missing a whole bunch but for 1 day in Feb that's not bad. They may be slowing down but they also seem to be working out of order. That may be part of what this list is showing us. According to Igor's list, nothing in Feb has been touched. I know that no one knows the whole truth about what is going on except VSC but my 1 day analysis is giving me something factual to hold on to- even if it is just 1 day!

I-129F petitions received by CSC on the 3rd Jan 2012

I've done the same for I130 petitions received at vsc for my day. It is obsessive but at least I can see that they are getting processed. According to visa journey no I130s have been approved at vsc in a week. I can see that some from my day were approved today. It's the little things right now that help!

during this time you should be contacting your representatives and familiarize yourself with their services. once it is out of processing time, you should be ready to file a complaint.

i had so much time i am already preparing for possible lawsuit at federal court.
pretty much above and beyond... i hope i don't need to use it.

lawsuit?? you have not contracted a service. there is no guarantee. what do you plan to sue them for???

US Passport Renewal Abroad

Great news! I just found out that the someone from the Barbados Consular Service office will be visiting my country at the end of the month. I'll be able to hand deliver my documents for my passport renewal. I'm feeling very much relieved. Too bad they can't get my Social Security info changed too! I didn't even know that the consulate folks took field trips!

US Passport Renewal Abroad

Hi all,

I'm changing my name on my passport and feeling squeamish about putting everything in the mail. Am I correct that since I'm outside the US I need to send everything to the nearest embassy (Barbados)? And can I pay extra to have it expedited? Mail in the Caribbean, and especially to my island isn't always reliable. Any tips on making the process smoother?

I-130 and G-325a questions

Thanks for the reply! So they won't send anything to the address? 99% chance it will be lost. I have a PO Box number where it might be more likely to arrive (95% chance of being lost), but it's not my physical address.

Should I write my "50 meters west of..." address or the street "name" address? If they mail something it's more likely to come to the "50 meters west of..." address as no one here knows street names.

Like I said, I'm still in the waiting game but the only thing that USCIS Wil send is the notice of approval but that will also be sent electronically if you send in G-1145 (I think). From what I understand all NVC communication is electronic. I'm not sure about the communication with the embassy. Others with more experience may be able to help with these specifics.

Hi lucybelle,

I don't know how long you've been in costa rica but if more than 6 months then use your foreign address on your I-130. I live outside the US with my husband and filled out the I-130 exactly as you are suggesting. Then I found out afterward that there is a much faster queue for USCs living abroad. We're in our 4th month of waiting while others living abroad are getting initial approval in as little as 10 days! I have the same problem with addresses that don't exist but in reality, they don't send physical documents that you need to reply to. They will send email notifications of approval and you can check your case online. I advise that for faster approval use you foreign address. Do it for me, because I'm really wishing that i had!

Final questions for AOS package

Hi everyone,

I'm moving through NVC faster than expected. I'm sending off the AOS package tomorrow and want to be sure I have the correct info on a few key points. Just for background, I am the USC, currently residing outside the US with my husband. We will be moving together once we have the visa in hand.

- I have all of my income info, most recent 1040 and past tax transcripts. Can I sponsor my husband on assets alone, house, car, savings, etc or am I required to have a joint sponsor? My mom has filled out the forms and is willing to help us but if I can on my own, I would rather do that

- With the AOS package I will provide evidence of my intent to reestablish my domicile. I am using a house and car that we purchased, utilities being turned on, proof that I maintained a US address, bank accounts, drivers license, etc. Does that sound like enough?

- I have my barcoded sheet from NVC but didn't find a checklist or list of specific information. I am putting together my own cover letter with list of inclusions. Did I miss a list from NVC or am I going about it correctly?

- Lastly, how is it best to assemble the package? Paperclips? staples? anything?? Anyone have feedback on what they like?

When I called someone was actually in the process of entering our case. I was able to get a case number but they couldn't take our emails until the case done being enters. I called back a few hours lasted and it was all set. Keep calling!
