I don't know. I'd like to vote too - but if it happens, it happens. I was a bit late into the game filing at the end of June anyway. I'd gone to an information seminar at a local library and they told us that Atlanta was taking about 3 months... I think their information was a bit, um, optimistic ;)

What made me nervous, is that I have a business trip to another state on Sept 21 and returning on the 25th. Those are the three business days out of the whole year, that I would be unavailable, and the person I was referring to above, got her interview for the 25th. Bottom line - if my interview fell on one of those days, I'd have to cut my business trip short - it's for a trade show, so I can't just go another time, but I'd have to attend late, or leave early and my accommodations are prepaid and non-refundable. So worst case, I'm out some $$ and miss out on a good time at that annual event. I'd sooner do that than attempt to reschedule an interview because goodness knows how long that might take. I'm speculating that if they don't have an interview scheduled for me as of now, it will likely take place after the 25th so that will solve that dilemma.

Of course, there could be a letter in the mail too... usually the interviews seem to be about a month from the date of the letter, give or take a couple of days, at least from my observation from what folks have posted.

So I'm sitting tight for now.

I honestly didn't notice the 30 day bit until the other day. I'm not sure if that changed or not, since my last status update on July 30th.

The impression I got from the agent I spoke with, is that she didn't actually have my file up on her screen. I'd entered the case number on the robo-menu, but when I finally got to a live person, I had to give the receipt number again, spell my name and all that other stuff - give her phone numbers and email address, physical address - all the stuff that was on my application and that comes with any correspondence I would get in the mail.

So it's possible that further action has been taken (ie interview letter sent) but she wouldn't have been able to see it. I suppose I could have asked for a Tier 2 agent, but that seemed like 'overkill' given that I'm only 62 days into the process, and there are plenty of others near or over the 150 day average. I'm anxious but I don't want to be pushy!

I just figured since the site status pretty much invited me to call after the 30 days, I might as well. Too bad it didn't glean anything new.

Another applicant who posts on another tracker, who applied a few days after me, made the same call and got her interview date, 9/25. To my knowledge she hasn't got the letter yet but she was given the date on the phone. Not sure if she spoke to Tier 2 rep or not, I didn't ask. She found out the other day.

They asked me all that too, then the rep asked me who told me to call after 30 days, I said, um... the letter I got. Then he said I'd hear something by Sept 14.

I'm going about 80 days since I file and getting impatient since I'd really love to vote. I hope they just hurry this thing up.

Do you think speaking to a lvl 2 agent would make a difference?

It seems it's more in the hands of the local office than it is in USCIS' hands.

I've been in line for interview scheduling since 7/30. When I check my status online it also says that if I don't receive IL within 30 days of July 30, to call the 800 number. It's day 31, so I called. Spent 20 minutes on the phone, only to be given a reference number. I was told my query is being forwarded to the field office, and they have 15 days to respond.

I know my DO (Atlanta) can be painfully slow... but since the site said to call after 30 days... ;) Wasn't much good though.

My case was in panel for about two months then they sent me a letter with my Oath date. So on Dec 20th I got sworn in. There were no correspondence between Oct 15th (date I went for interview) and when I got the letter.

It worked out in my favor :)

Those bastards are sneaking and if you're not careful you'll get caught like I did. I received an email that my oath letter was mailed so everything turned out fine. Thanks!

States are fairly lax on this subject, in Wisconsin we go to either the clerk of court or city or township clerk to register to vote, but they just take your word you are a US citizen. We took in my wife's CON, didn't even want to see it nor my birth certificate.

DMV is similar, do ask you if you are a US citizen, a LPR, or other, whatever that is. If you look like your close to 16 years of age, ask to see your birth certificate. not because you are a US citizen or not, but want to know if you are over 16. If you say you are a LPR, want to see your green card, but if you have a one year extension, they won't issue you a drivers' license. If you claim you are a US citizen and don't have a birth certificate, they request you bring in a utility bill to at least prove your address.

It took me a week to explain to our newly appointed immigration officer what a one year extension was, he didn't know a damn thing about immigration before they would let my wife apply for her drivers' license.

Other factor is when first applying, a drivers' test is required, both wife and stepdaughter were nervous as most people are. Made a strong point to be with both of them to make darn sure their application forms were filled out correctly, also with voter's registration.

I can appreciate how easy it is to make a simple error when dealing with these people, some are darn right rude. I hope the USCIS takes the same view with you am assuming you actually never voted. What also seems unfair as a LPR, can't even vote in a local election on some referendum that directly affects your property taxes. As a LPR, still have to pay taxes, but without a say in the matter.

When my wife did receiver her CON, took that into these hard headed DMV guys, didn't even want to look at it. Just said when her drivers' license has to be renewed, check that US citizen box.

Just renewed my drivers' license yesterday, DMV letter said to bring in proof of US citizenship, so I took my US passport with it. Guy at the counter said, I see you had your drivers' license for a long time, didn't even want to look at it.

An RFE was allegedly sent out on Thursday but today I received an email for my oath letter. So I should have my oath shortly. I had initially submitted a letter explaining what happened, the letter from the elections office showing the deleted me and the voter's registration card that I got in the mail. I went home and brought them back to the officer who did my interview that same day 10/15/12. I'm so glad this step is over and I can feel like less of a criminal, lol.

I've been beating myself up since 10/15 and as much as it hurts I have to take responsibility for signing without reading. She had my GC in her hand so her giving me a voters registration form to sign was the farthest thing from my mind. Furthermore, I had no idea you old register at the DMV to vote! I tried to do the right thing but it seems honesty may not always be the best policy in my case. I've gone over my interview in my head a million times and said I should've lied but every time I catch myself say that lying isn't worth. I'd rather take my punishment for telling the truth than one for lying. Oh we'll...

I've always had to go to the DMV in person (in GA) to renew my license as they need to see my GC. EVERY time, they've asked me if I wanted to register to vote. EVERY time I've said, "I'm not a US Citizen, I'm not eligible to vote."

Makes me wonder just how many non-citizens do register... whether accidentally or otherwise. What's scary is, if it goes through... no checks and balances for that?!

Sounds to me like you did the right thing - DMV workers shouldn't even offer the option to register for non-citizens. Doesn't absolve us of personal responsibility - but you took the proper steps to correct the *mistake* once it was discovered, so hopefully that will show that your intention wasn't bad.

They've asked me before and I told then I wasn't a citizen so they didn't give me a form. This time however, I wasn't paying attention so when she gave me the form to sign I though it had something to do with my driver's license (I was removing my probationary).


When we went to the DMV to get his ID they asked him if he wanted to register to vote as well. He said yes, at first handed it to him but then the agent pulled back the form and asked him "are you a US citizen"? He wasnt so they took back to form completely. In my opinion its just a mistake. I'd take the forms and letter and explain. I wouldnt worry too much. All explanable and the DMV's error to give youthe form without asking if you are a US citizen.

Run, do not walk, to the nearest AILA-certified immigration attorney for a consultation at the very least.

A false claim of US citizenship (which is what you did when you filled in the voting form) carries a lifetime bar from the US and there is no waiver.

I had my interview 10/15 but my case was sent to panel because I was registered to vote. I went to DMV to get driver's license and the attendant asked me if I'd like to register at my address to vote, I said yes. She gave me a paper and said sign this (pointing to the signature line), without reading it I signed. About a week later I received the voters registration card in the mail. I first thought it was spam but on closer inspection I realized it was real. I checked online which confirmed my suspicion but I still didn't make sense when I registered until I saw the date, which is the same date I did my license. I went to the city to double check and get myself removed, they gave me a printout and sent me to the elections office to get removed. I got removed after being questioned and explaining what happened. They also gave me a letter to take to the interview. My case was sent to panel and I submitted the requested documents to the local off the same day. My status was updated saying they sent me an RFE (which I'm still waiting on). What do I do now? It was stupid on my part to sign something I didn't read. I know one has to be a US citizen to vote so this was just an unfortunate mistake.

I wanted to share a great app available free on the app store.

Its called US Citizenship 2012. Its published by Purple Buttons LLC

I find it to be a great study tool. Upon start up, it will prompt input of localized information and the questions and answers will reflect this e.g. state senator, state rep, governor, capital etc.

It says...Affidavit sworn to or affirmed by at least two people who have know both of you since your CR was granted and have personal knowledge of your marriage and relationship... I took that to mean the writers, since whoever would be notarizing it doesn't know you and know of your relationship.

Hi Guys!
I noticed that almost everyone is done with conditional GC. This is so ridicules with INS! Nothing new but I'm getting really frustrated. My story, sent my packet to remove condition in June 2011, had my BIO in July 2011 and since then quiet. Recently, received REF that is asking me for evidences that I already sent or I don't have like kids, loans, and mortgage. They want from me proof of liabilities that we have together. However, we don't have nothing more than Credit Card. My question: last week we received notice from IRS that our tax return is forward to Department of Education as Federal Offset for my wife's old debt(student loan). The notice shows: Payment summary with our both names, amount before and after reduction. OK, we lost our tax return this year but do you think I should include this notice as an evidence of our debt and that was partly paid? I have mixed feelings because as I remember well INS doesn't like any outstanding debt other than bank loan. Please let me know what you think about this situation.

Anyone travel with only their GC and NOA?
My wife was questioned by the Airlines while leaving US that she needed the stamp in the passport or NOA notice, but when we call USCIS they say she only needs NOA and the GC...

Anyone else have any recent experience traveling? Just little nervous here.



Have no fear, I've travelled internationally twice since my gc expired in July. Just make sure you bring your extension letter and copies (not that I used my copies) You'll be fine (:

you don't get early bios, you have to go for early bios.
letme explain .. lets say you have your biometrics on 19th of july 2011 and when you get your letter you can go to the Application Service Center any day before your biometrics appointment and ask them if they can take your biometrics. If they are not very busy they might welcome you and this way you could have your early bios.
My bios were scheduled for 19th july 2011 but i was off from work today so i just walked to ASC and tried my luck and luckily they welcomed me and i had my biometrics done.
