Leidys is adjusting well to our life together. It was never "Easy" because of the distances, the expense, and the aspect of, "Not knowing" what might happen. I posted this in another forum here on VJ...but what is everybody here's thoughts on this?

Ok from my reading on here it seems that it is highly advisable for my fiancee to obtain her SS# BEFORE we get married, then apply for the name change. It also seems that you need to wait 2 weeks after POE for her information to be in the system to obtain the SS#. My fiancees POE date is Dec. 13th, I want to be married before the end of the year for tax purposes. If I wait two weeks then that puts applying for the SS# around Dec 28th or 29th...that is IF she is in the system by then, and I think that may be iffy because of the holidays. Then this would only leave us about 2 days for the marriage. My question is...does it really matter? Could we marry right after she arrives, then apply for the SS# 2 weeks after her arrival but apply using her maiden name, then when she receives her number, file for the name change? Is this doable?

We do try to take time away but it never works... she called today to say she was sorry (that is a huge thing for a Chinese woman) and I was shocked. Cultural thing. Just a rough time for us, and the consulate is waiting for us to tell them when we want to interview!!!! I tell you, I am on page 457 of the book I am writing about this. I wonder what the next plot twist will happen. Not that I want more. We just want to be together.

Ok, some notes on the interview now that I am back in the US sad.gif ...
for anybody who has "red flags" BE AT THE INTERVIEW! as I said I have no doubt of it being a denial were i not there because the CO was more interested in me than her..especially questions about my previous marriage...questions my SO would not have been able to answer. I know they would have requested a second interview with me present. (note to Ken...our situations do sound very similar)
Co was very friendly and upbeat...but I noticed he was defintely watching the interaction of my So and I, and our body movements. The questions were very specific.
CO was very interested in the visit times and seemed impressed that this was my 6th trip to be with her in 1 and 1/2 years. Asked me about if I had meet her family and what they thought about this, asked me is she had meet my children yet and were they excited. I did present to him a sworn affidavit from my mom, and a personal letter written by my dad and one from my sister, all testifying to our relationship and the relationship my SO has established with my family members. He did read them and I thought this also made a huge difference.
Well her POE is Dec. 13th in Atlanta. She is really worrying about flying and POE. Unfortuantely I cannot be with her for this ordeal, but I have told her she will be fine.

PASSED! CO was very nice but asked tough questions. I have no doubt that had i not been here, it would have been a denial as he was ALOT more interested in interviewing me than my fiancee. Interview was about 25 minutes long... about 10 minutes quizzing my fiancee and about 15 minutes on me alone. Thanks for all the encouragemnet from everybody here...and thanks for the PM Ken.

No, letting the air out of someone's tire is not "a crime of moral turpitude". Not by a long shot. Bringing someone to the USA for slavery is, or real criminals. That is what the they are wary of. Let's not mince words. Teen pranks on autos are not.


The adjudicator's manual says differently, dude.


I am wrong anyway. Moral Turpitude is defined in the manual, but I don't believe this offense falls into it in the slightest. You know the manual better than I do.

He got a white paper that said under section 221(g)which meant they cant give him the visa at the time because of lack of documentation. He had a new guy interviewing him and a big lady(the boss?) behind him watching over him so that probably didn't help his situation either. Obviously he didnt have what he needed due to pure blind faith going in there. Nigel told me point blank that they said we're approved pending the documentation, cause he would have told me were outright denied and I would have freaked out and so would he have. He told me that he wouldn't have left there without a fight essentially so I think I was right in thinking he had to have proof of his stupid-ness back then. Which I think even in package 3 they stated they want records anyways of whatever stuff you did, so its only logical I believe. The end of this month we should have that subject access, so i'm gonna be curious to see come December when the embassy looks it over to see what they come up with for a verdict.

Thanks so much for all your support. We are APPROVED!!! They said visa shoud come by the end of this week.

I don't know about everyone else -- I could not sleep all night. The interview was 4:30 am CA time, I was waking up every hour to check the time. Finally at 6:30 came good news!! We are so happy. I will let you know if there are any interesting details after I talk to my fiance.

My SO got a call from the Consulate to come and pick up her packet 3 yesterday. Woo hoo....and the cool thing is that we are ahead of the curve thanks to VJ, these forums and others members who have went through the Panama Embassy, that we know she already has EVERYTHING they need including the I-134 and supporting docs and completed DS230, 156 and 156K forms. So she will then be able to say "well I have all these things and I am ready to schedule the medical and interview". Now I have a question that maybe somebody can give me advice on....my SO has never traveled outside her country. I will fly to Panama to be with her at the interview, but I may let her fly to the US by herself. Her POE would be ATLANTA and I would meet her there with my parents. I suppose there is no way that I could gain clearance to meet her once she exits the entire POE process is there? My fear is she will get lost and I will have difficulty locating her. Thoughts?

Attaya - No we won't be traveling together, I am currently working on some really important projects for work and have not been able to take time off ... I do have a couple days off when she flies to the US ( Hopefully on Oct. 10 ) ... her and I talked and weighed out our options and decided to take a few days off when she is here rather than taking the time off for the interview and flight.

Maverick - Congrats ... finally out of AP ... and it's great Panama is said to be a fast embassy !! Not too much longer than !

Starlight - I am pretty confident that touch is your approval ... from my experience with our RFE I am fairly confident to say it was your approval. You could call and ask to be escalated to find out ... but ... it might not be updated in the system until Monday ... that is what happened to me. I seen the touch on the day we got our approval and called .. and was told it was still in processing, but in reality it was a approval .. but when I called a couple days later I was told we were approved on that date of the last touch. Good luck Star !!! We have you in our prayers !

Ian and Lisa - Are you expecting to hear soon of a interview date? How long is the UK embassy running out right now? I hope soon for you two !

Wow! That was a long time, but the funny thing is that this delay may not delay you much, depending on how speedy your embassy is. Good luck!

Another member here says the Panama Embassy is very fast...his was completed in one month of receipt. God, that was the longest 40 days of my life!

Glad to hear things are going well for everybody here. I am in a very dark moment right now. Just found out that I am actually day 37 in AP at NVC..I thought the receipt date was August 24, but was actually received by them on August 18. So with the CSC sitting or losing my file for one month before sending iot to NVC and with being in AP for 31 days, I have lost nearly 2 & 1/2 months now. My dream of having my fiancee here with me for Christmas is disappearing fast.

I'm sorry if I missed anyone. It's really early here. Lamine and I are so, so, so thrilled to be together again. We're like two giggling little kids just having fun together. He has an awful, awful toothe ache, though, and he's going to the dentist today for emergency "surgery" to get it taken care of. It's going to be really tight money-wise for a while, I think, as he's not insured yet and I don't foresee this being cheap. It's completely worth it, though. I'm just happy to have him with me again. He seems to have forgotten every word of English he knows, but I know that it'll come as soon as the nerves ease a little. For now, though, there's a lot of translating going on between me and whoever he's talking to.
Oh-and while everyone around here is just starting to swap their shorts for jeans, Lamine is sporting two pairs of pants, two shirts, and a fleece everyday. Poor kid smile.gif

So much for Lamine to learn now! This is what I was thinking last week when I was with my fiancee "she has SOOOOOO much to learn"....I know it can be overwhelming for them! I am so happy you are finally with your love!

Email has the 7-10 days thing but you are right about talking with someone else. Jessica seemed stunned that after telling me the file has not been received I said we already got the P3 and returned it. Never heard of this "premptive" mailing.

Granted, we are going for an extension of the original interview date so we can take care of business but I want to know the original interview date. Just more craziness.

Well, I am aback in the good ole US of...... ahhh forget it. not that enthused about this country at the moment as I am still in AP. Great 10 days with my SO. I found out from another VJ member here who is in the consulate stage in Panama that we need DS-230, DS 156 and DS156K, so I took those forms with me and we filled them out. Also got her new visa pics, her certificado de solteria, and today she is getting her police certificate and long form birth certificate...so she has EVERYTHING they require and when they call her to pick up her packet 3 , she will already have it! Then just schedule the medical and interview.
I am wishing the best for Endoftheroad and Starlight in your situations and Allie thanks for the comment...you'll be out soon...I bet this week! Peace everybody!

??? That's just... odd.

I know...I have never heard of this happening before. My original NOA2 approval was July 24th...even received the hardcopy of it. After waiting 24 days for NVC to receive, I conatcted my Congresswoman who contacted USCIS THAT DAY. The next day I happened to check my case on USCIS and it had a brand new date of August 18, and yesterday I received the new hardcopy with that date. I am guessing that they had missplaced our file and sent a new NOA2 to make up for the lost 24 days on the 4 month eligibility. Wierd though.
On the plus side...only 10 days now till I visit my SO again!

Ok-I feel like I have no room to complain right now, but Lamine just got his medical results (and everything checked out fine), but the doctor was out of the office when he brought back the results, so now we have to wait until the dr. calls him back to pick up the paperwork before we can schedule the interview. I know my case is moving quickly, but I was just desperately hoping that we could schedule the interview today. Now it looks like we'll have to wait a while again. The girl that took his information was not very friendly-she said that she didn't know when the doctor would call. "It could be later today, could be next week, could be in a month. I don't know." sad.gif

For those that might be interested, after 24 days of waiting for NVC to receive my case, I gave up on waiting and contacted my Congresswoman (that was on Monday). Today at day 26 while waiting on hold with NVC I decided to check the USCIS site...lo and behold it now says "on August 18th we mailed you an approval notice". So I called my congresswoman office and they told me they were in the process of sending me a letter stating that they had contacted USCIS and was informed the NVC will receive in 2-3 days. They also told me they will continue to track my case through the NVC. So my dam*n case had been sitting at CSC for 24 days! How long would it have sat had I not called my congresswoman? My advice to anyone who has waited over 20 days without NVC receiving is get your congressman or senator involved. Yano, I should be happy now...but instead I am just pissed off. But I love my Congresswoman Jean Schmidt!

Wow...that's alot of injections if you haven't had them. My biggest phobia of all....can't STAND needles.
Well today is day 24 with still no NVC receive. After talking with the operator at the NVC and her telling me that nothing can be done till 90 days has passed, I decided that it can hurt nothing to have my comgresswoman inquire, especially since her office is only 2 miles away from my work. NVC says CSC has not sent it, but most people here say their file is usually at NVC...just misplaced. Hopefully I will find something out.

Well today is officially the end of three weeks since my NOA2 approval, and after 21 days NVC still says they have not received my case. At this point I guess I am going to have to consider that my case has been lost or I am actually in AP without a NVC case number. I actually believe the latter. It makes no sense that the majority of people have their cases received at NVC in about 2-10 days. The people say at NVC it can 2-4 weeks but also up to 90 days......90 days?????????????? I am wondering if there are any VJ members who have gone past 3 weeks for NVC to receive? This sux.
