Hello everyone! Exciting news........i have been "touched" ...yippee!! It doesnt say approval or anything....I really thought by now I would have approval since many of my vj friends have! What do you think? was anyone touched right before approval?? anyway....since there was nothing for almost 4 months.....this is exciting!!!

Hi all, hope you're all getting your NOA2s. After getting confirmation of mine I was surprised to get my case number and initial letter from the Embassy within 2 weeks of that - I thought it took at least a month to find it's way there from the NVC.

Been hit by a possible disaster though - had all my documents ready and my fiancee had all the info and letters for her I134 affadavit of support ready to send to me, only to just be told she's losing her job in a couple of weeks! :( She's going to struggle to find one that pays nearly as well in the short term and there isn't really anyone we could ask to co-sponsor so it's looking bleak... it'll be a bit heartbreaking if we stutter to a halt when we were so close. :/


That really is awful. Feeling for you both, mate. No stuttering to any halt! A solution must be found. Don't give up.

:rofl: Oh my goodness, I nearly wet myself laughing at babies being called VSC, and NOA. If it's twins, names will be NOA1 and NOA2, obviously!

We're all motoring along now since being released from that VSC jailhouse. I sent my packet 3 back to London yesterday. I know London has a long wait for interview but I'm just happy to have a break from the paperwork.

Woohoo - my packet 3 is on its way!!! It was posted on the 15th so I'm expecting it any day now :D

Can I just say how much I love the DOS? Yes their IVR (oh my god, can't believe I just typed that - working for telecoms company syndrome - I mean the 'press 1 for this press 2 for that' thingy...) is the longest thing in the world but I got through to someone, she was exceptionally polite, and told me exactly what I needed to know. Mr. Jess has rung them a few times and says they've been amazing every time.

I almost can't keep up with how much faster everything seems to be going now :)

(PS sorry I've been about less...boss says I need to improve on a 'lack of focus' at work [wonder why?!?!] so I'm trying to restrict my at-work VJing...but still thinking of you all :))

I agree about NVC. The lady I got was super charming, I thought I was talking to Michelle Obama.
My packet 3 was sent out on the 12th. But Kristen's took 8 days to arrive in the mail, so I don't think the UK embassy really does post them on the day NVC has record they did. But they certainly are on their way.

First of all, Mrs. Dogs, you're never talking rubbish! It's always pearls of wisdom, hilarity, or awesomeness (or some combination thereof).
If it were me, I'd just fill the new one, but if there are disparities between the versions on different gov't sites, I'd imagine they'll be almost expecting people to come in with the "old" version, and they'll either have you transfer it or just accept it (especially given that they're so similar). Surely, an older-but-almost-the-same DS 230 won't be grounds for a denial. Especially not in London.
But definitely a good thing to be updated on; thanks for linking us to that thread! Another score for Mrs. Dog!
edit: sleuthing around (because apparently I don't have enough to do at work!) I saw that the one on the London Embassy website is the 2-2010 one...

All I can say is, this process makes me feel like I have "additional learning support needs". You and the likes of Naddy are the brainy, popular girls at our Visa School, who are also are the head cheerleaders (I bet both of you could do the splits as well) and who will go on to have bright futures, successful careers and Hollywood teeth. I'm just the dork who hangs round on your coat tails!

Seriously, what DO people do who do the process without VJ? I can't imagine how it would even be possible to get through without it. You'd have to be telepathic.

LOL at USPC being cousin of VSC! London Embassy is also a first cousin. Packet 3 takes 8 days to arrive, and some people never receive it at all, despite NVC assuring them it was sent out!

The update is: Yep, I called them, and that Auckland package is definitely ours. YAY! But I'm going up to do field work for a couple of days, so I won't be able to obsessively check the DHL tracking site to see where it is. I've put Ewan onto that task... :innocent: The giant envelope full of the I-134, email printouts, pictures, etc. that I sent for his interview arrived, also, so he'll be all set when that P3 comes his way.
I can't believe all this is finally happening!

Now - I am not talking rubbish for a change! This is important. The packet 3, specifically the form DS 230. There is mass confusion. Both DOS and UK embassy site are not clear whether this applies to K1 applicants or not, one piece of information says it doesn't, but it really is not crystal clear. If you haven't read this thread, which includes the link to the DOS site, I have pasted it below. Mrs Dogs is confused.

I saw that the DS-157 is required for the france consulate, donno about yours, but, maybe better just fill it and take it with you just in case?

Drue will go the the animal shelter to see if the puppy is still there, and if she's "good", like not shy, nor aggressive, playful ... he said he'll get her then, but I donno, we're not 100% sure that I'll get the visa, so I donno what to do >< . Cos if I don't get the visa, he'll move to France, and he would have to leave his doggy, and now this puppy too, behind :(

Friends ! I decided to post and ask here as I was talking to you guys the other day about NVC and DHL. :blink:

I was on DHL website and there is one shipment dated 03 / 12 / 2010 with destination Ljubljana, Slovenia ( me :P ) . I believe this is our lovely package because there is rarely someone from Slovenia doing this kind of stuff.

Now, a question comes. :blink:

All the other shipment numbers have it' s origin in Portsmouth, NH and the one shipment number for LJ, Slovenia has it' s origin in Portsmouth, MA. Isn' t NVC in NH ? :blink:

Well, MA is Massachusettes and I'm pretty sure there isn't a Portsmouth in MA, so I'm guessing it's just a slip of the finger on DHL's part? I could be wrong....of course.

Aaaargh! Follow the thread, heisable and read back, or we're gonna be repeating this information again and again! As you haven't put when NVC received your case, or when your case left NVC, I've had a guess going by your NOA2 date and checked the DHL site for you.

A petition was received at Lagos consulate on 8 March. There was only 1 to Lagos that week, so it is likely to be yours.

We didn' t call NVC. I guess we' ll just wait for their letter to come. NOA 2 says it can take up to 4 weeks. Is this true ?

Just called the NVC again and spoke with someone else...

Dublin is indeed correct (by the 2nd person i spoke too, as well as the first). Apparently they assigned me to Dublin as it would be easier for me to get to. :D

That's good news for your arwilson80. Since when have they cared about "what would be easier for anyone"? That's a first, surely! LOL! If that's the case, they'd send me to the Edinburgh embassy, which is across the street from my house! I wouldn't even need to put my coat on!

That DHL tracking thing is fantastic. I tracked mine - they received it on 5 March, but according to NVC, they've not received it, which means, they haven't bothered to log it in yet, London being one of the slowest of all embassies!

Miss Jess, I tracked yours. Yours was received on 8 March, at 1.54pm to be precise!

We've only rung NVC so far and not DOS so I can't help I'm afraid :( sure I will join you in frustration tomorrow!!

In other news, I booked my medical today!! April 7th - just want to get it out the way so when the magic P3 comes through we are ready to go. Simulataneously very excited and kind of terrified - things really starting to happen now :)

In the UK Interviews 2010 thread they said you can call the DOS to find out if the Embassy has received your case - we're going to try, given that calling the Embassy costs £1.20/min and there's a minimum of 15 minutes on the phone......an experience I've already had the joy of from my J1 visa days :bonk:


Miss Jess, do let me know if have been able to fathom out the menu of DOS and found an option to speak to a live person, or even an option to check your status?

Well, he received the NOA2 hard copy on saturday, and the NVC letter today.

So it goes kinda quick.

Mrs Dogs DID do that, but guess what? Mrs Dogs got no reply! Kabhatti, an October filer emailed them and he did get a reply, but not till 5 days later, so my advice now is - don't bother with the email. Just keep trying to get through on the phone to NVC. I think Monday is their busiest day on the phones, but I called today, gave up once after 20 minute wait, tried a few hours later and got through after 9 mins waiting. But it was good news when I did get through. They told me they sent my petition to the embassy.

Naddy, you are right, NVC don't mess around at all, unlike our old ladies at VSC. They turn them around in a couple of days.

oooo oooo oooo.. our application has been "touched" today.. that just sounds wrong.. but still im soo excited.. its not an approval/denial but its something and that is WAY better than nothing.. :-) :-)
