it doesn't really matter much. they received it nov 1 so off just 1 day. there's people here from september and november too. :D

I agree, one day is not enough to stress on--November 1 is only 3% later than 31 October. B-)

And we like you too. :) Good luck!

Congratsssss....was ur petition for K3 also approved?? mine is still in initial review, I guess filing for k3 wasn't that bad at all because I'm thinking it's somehow related and we weren't just fortunate, shortly after that status message we received our approval and the only people that got that message were the ones that had a pendin I-129F

Nope, no change on the I-129f petition. Our preference was for the I-130 to move forward more quickly, anyway.

We are expecting it to be cancelled at some point because of the (pleasantly) rapid progress of the I-130.

It would be excellent if my wife can enter into th US no later than very early May. This is starting to feel safely realistic now, which is a huge relief.

Yes! In the past hour or two we were approved. (Checking email and uscis.gov every few hours... :P )

Time to break out The Happy Dance!!!

Hope others have the same news soon too!

Our I-129f (K-3) online status has shown up online with the "your Alien Registration Number was changed" message, dated two days before the I-130. I'm not sure how to interpret this.

Thought I should let you know that my MSC number for K3 showed up today and has the same message I got for my I-130 it says the same thing the only difference is the date, it was changed one day before my I-130, does yours show up too?? Oh god, I hope this means that I'm gonna get my approval soon..

Nope, still not status for our I-129f MSC number. Will post back when (if?!?!?) it changes. I have no idea what this means for you, if anything.

(The the bug actually move? Or did it just twitch its antenni?)

I'm getting tired of this game

Yup. I feel your pain. We feel your pain.

It's kind of silly, but I've built up this picture in my mind of a diverse group of people in various countries all over the world...simultaneously sitting in front of our computers, sipping a coffee/tea/whatever near a window with a tree outside...and calmly but firmly hitting the refresh button on their browser on both this forum and uscis.gov every few minutes...like a cat staring at a bug inching slowly across the floor...waiting...ready to move when the moment is right...

It brings me a bit a peace to know that my wife and I are not alone, that much of this stress is shared.

Soon...

ps, are you planning on calling USCIS and speaking to an ISO regarding this Alien registration number change? I'm asking because my husband is the USC and he is very very busy with work and never gets the time to call, I have to wait till his next day off. if you do decide to call please keep us updated, Thanks

I will when my wife asks me too. (I'm the USC.) Frankly, I have very strong negative reaction to bureaucracies that comes out involuntarily when dealing directly and personally with systems like this--ten minutes on the phone with me and they just might "lose" our petition in spite! Seriously though, we might call a week or two after the new year if we don't hear anything.

Our lawyer filed our petition and as much as I remember the field for Alien number was filled, So I'm not sure why they would change it, I'm starting to think it has something to do with us filling for I-129F (K3) if you go on the K1 forum you'll see that almost half if not more of the people that have filed for K1 got the same message as we did, but they're saying that some of them got an approval in a matter of week or two after receiving that message online so let's keep our fingers crossed our timelines are pretty close to each other too, my priority date for I-130 is Oct 25 and Nov 8 for k3. If you see any change in your status please let me know, I will do the same :)

ps, my k3s MSC number is also not showing up online

Yup, will keep you and everyone else updated. :)

I've done a bunch more reading on the ARN, both here on VJ and elsewhere, and it still seems like a good thing. (There is an amazing amount of wild conjecture too--I'm ignoring anything without solid references or at least first person anecdotal experience.)

From the USCIS website:

Alien Registration Number (“A” Number) or Alien Number
A unique seven-, eight- or nine-digit number assigned to a noncitizen at the time his or her A-file is created. The 9-digit U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services number listed on the front of Permanent Resident Cards (Form I-551) issued after May 10, 2010, is the same as the Alien Registration Number. The A-number can also be found on the back of these Permanent Resident Cards.

I interpret all of this all as "at some point in the process, all successful I-130 petitions will have a Alien Registration Number."

Apparently there these numbers can be either temporary or permanent. The prefix can and does change when someone moves from one status to another. And if you had an "A number" on the initial I-130 I would think you would know as you would have had to provide this to your lawyer. As I don't even see the I-129f case online I'm not inclined to link the two just yet. It certainly would be informative if they listed the ARN online.

Hopefully we'll all have some more news before the holidays strike!

also,im starting to think maybe ppl who can finally see their statuses can get an approval soon!

I'm trying not to get too hopeful, but an approval before mid-January would rock my world.

I can see my case status online today, however this is what I see

On November 21, 2012, your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I130, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case. Please wait until the end of normal processing time before calling customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for live assistance.

could this be because we also filed for K3?? Ughhh I'm so worried now...please help :(

I see this too. On the I-130 there is a field for the spouse's Alien Registration NUmber (section C, item 10). We left it blank as do do not have one. Did you as well? If so then I think it is safe to assume that the USCIS has assigned an Alien Registration Number early on in the process and that is what the above message means. Therefore I'm interpreting it as a good sign. :)

We also filed an I-129f (for the K-3 path) but that MSC number is not showing up online. You?

"Keep Calm and Carry On" as they say.

B-)

Me too! Also have the "your Alien Registration Number was changed" message...three weeks ago. It 'smells' like they are pumping the initial status updates (or at least some of them) into the system in large batches.

Feeling some relief now although still grumpy about the delay and opaque processing. (I have expectations that way.)

Did you file for a K3? I think that is going to delay your case a little from what I've heard.

Yes. (I think. Already married, filed a I-129f.) But my question is about the holidays and what impact they have on processing times, regardless. It's something that very will may impact us all.

Does anyone know what kind of additional delay we can expect with the holidays coming up? Just a few days? A solid 2-3 weeks? Does the entire processing bureaucracy shut down for half December? Or do just a few people take a few days off?

With some of the early October filers starting to see progress (meaning they can see their case online), my I-130 petition should be visible soon. Unless there is a holiday period delay. Sigh...the lack of transparency into this process is really frustrating. It's been six weeks since the NOA1 and my gut says we won't see anything until well after the new year.

Hi Folks, another October filer here.

We received both NOA1s (130+129f) fairly quickly, with MSC receipt numbers. No status available online.

This is like a rollercoaster ride, one day i'm thinking might get an NOA2 in less than 2 months, the following day realize it could be several more months!

I've been on that roller coaster just reading the VJ forums this evening. Having a least a firm timeline, no matter how long, would be preferable! We've got so much going on now that the unknown state of all this is driving us mad! (I'm moving to US to start a new job in January, my wife is pregnant and due in March, we need to close up life here in Switzerland at the end of April, etc. Ugh.)
