Has anyone here ever known of anyone who used a cosponsor while applying for a K1 and got approved by the Turkish Consolate? I read a distubing article today stating that the laws were recently changed when using a sponsor with a K1 b/c the I134 form wasnt considered to be a binding contract, therefore when applying for a K1 you can't use a sponsor only K3 applicants are able to use a cosponsor. I also heard that this rule may apply only in certain consolates. I have been surfing the net all night for an answer no luck just more confused. If anyone has any information I would appreciate some input. blink.gif

Thanks!

So my case is has left the NVC. I have done the tracking with DHL, found it and now waiting for it to be recieved in Turkey. Can anyone tell me how long will it take to get an interview???

If you email the embassy, you can get a checklist from the embassy of what exactly it is you need for the interview. By doing this we saved ourselves 1 month waiting time and besides we never even recieved our package 4 in the mail. We are K1 but we know a couple who are K-3 and got the same results. Goodluck and congrats!

I was wanting to know- when you write letters of invatation to the U.S what all do they have to include??

I am a firm believer that if you don't try you'll never know. So go for it. We applied back in September and got shot down. My husband lived here in the US for 5 yrs and went back willingly twice but his B-2 (tourist visa) and was denied b/c we were honest about our application for the K1. So here we are thinking that it would prove that he would come back b/c we were going through all of this legal stuff to apply for K1. Unfortunately, for us it backfired the interviewer based her decision solely on the K1 application. Also, a lot of the times it all depends on the interviewer.

When I saw the post for the approved tourist visa it gave me hope and we thought hey what the hell, let's try it again what's the difference if it gets denied it's $100.00. Besides we like a challange and perhaps this time maybe we will get a person with a little bit of Christmas spirit. Wish us luck we will keep everyone posted. GOOD LUCK!!!

Is there a way to track information regarding the AOS process online, or to receive updates online like we did with the K1 on the USCIS case status site? For example when the check was cashed with our K1 we could see the case number on the back of the check and registered online. Is this same process offered regarding the AOS process? The check was cashed today but we have yet to receive our NOA1 or Biometrics. We checked the forum and see that this process takes at least 10 days to receive the NOA1. Does this come in the mail?? Anyone with knowledge on this process would be very much appreciated.

Deansteele,

That would depend what country that you are from. My husband is from Turkey and b/c he didn't have a record of vaccinations that he had received in the past he was made to get more then he should have. Again, that is the standard in Turkey you would have to check with where your from.

mad.gif I just really need to vent! We hired a lawyer so that we could be 100% sure to get our K1 approved and b/c of the timing wanted to leave no room for mistakes. 4 months later the lawyer is paid in full and we do not feel that he did a dam thing to deserve it. We know more then his firm does about our case, and we feel as if we have done all of the footwork. For instance, I called today hoping for good news or that perhaps he knew something more then I knew. Then I find out that the girl who has been handling our case, and knows our case very well is no longer there. wacko.gif Now I have this girl who is "in training" assigned to my case and is completely clueless about any question that I asked her regarding my case or anything that had to do with the K1 visa in general. This is not my only bad experiance with this firm, we had a few. AT this point I am affraid to really speak up b/c we are so close to approval but I feel that we have been doing everything ourselves since we started and paid this firm for nothing. We only went with this firm b/c I had a good feel for the lawyer himself but his people that he has working for him Suck! If I knew then what I know now! Geeze!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOff Topic (Joke)
In her memoirs, Barbara Bush described one of those most embarrassing moments that inevitably occur, even on the most carefully advanced of foreign trips. Along with her husband, then the Vice President, Mrs. Bush was lunching with Emperor Hirohito at Tokyo's Imperial Palace.

Sitting next to the Emperor, Mrs. Bush found the conversation an uphill task. To all her efforts at verbal engagement, the Emperor would smile and say "Yes" or "No," with an occasional "Thank You" tossed in for good measure.

Looking around her elegant surroundings, she complimented Hirohito on his official residence.

"Thank you," he said.

"Is it new?" pressed Mrs. Bush.

"Yes."

"Was the old palace just so old that it was falling down?" asked Mrs. Bush.

In his most charming, yet regal, matter, Hirohito replied, "No, I'm afraid that you bombed it."

Imagine how embarrasing that would be???? laughing.gif

helpsmilie.gif The good news is we recieved our letter from the NVC with our case number on the 26th of Dec. and the package is on it's way to Ankara. The bad news is our lawyer is not returning our calls quick enough and his office made a few mistakes on our final forms and Semih corrected them for the 4th time and they are still not fixed. Then when he complained about the services this is the response we recieved.... "If you feel unhappy with the services let us know at this point we cannot refund any of your monies because all the forms were prepared and sent to you. All our work was completed.
Let us know- we would need to remove ourselves from the case and contact the Embassy"

Imagine that????? #######! we are so mad b/c it feels like they are bailing out on us. We don't know how to finish this process on our own. Please help we are almost at the end and need to know what to do from here. wacko.gif

1st question... my cosponsor doesnt have her W-2's but has her copies of her taxes is the W-2's necessary?
2nd question...Is there a way to track when Ankara recieves the paperwork? helpsmilie.gif

We are using a lawyer because i filed the petition immediately
after i returned from living abroad in Morocco. i was
between jobs and addresses and we also had questions regarding
my husband's (fiance) job and address.

Our petition sat on a paralegal's desk for 6 weeks, and only after i
inquired on a whim did we discover that it was never sent in. i had
done most of the paperwork myself. Basically, we were paying for
a second pair of eyes to make sure we filled out everything correctly.

We were delayed for 6 weeks because of someone's negligence, and now
we have a much unexpected RFE. i have no idea what any of it means.

Hayati has been very positive about the whole thing and patient.
i have been a wreck and crying frequently.

Anyway, i'm sorry... i cannot give you advice about firing your lawyer.
i can commiserate though and wish you good luck...

hz

Wow I am so sorry to hear that but it almost doesnt seem fair that these lawyers get paid for doing nothing. You know the saying "if I knew then what I know now" We all have to be strong and hang in there together and support one another through this process. Things will work out for you just have faith, you were not denied right they asked for an RFE i believe that's further proof so that's a good thing. I will say a prayer for you. We fired our lawyer today and will do the rest of this grueling process by ourselves. Wish us luck!

Good job detective stuart!

We lived in Japan for 18 months so I need a police report
The Japanese embassy won't let me request a police report until I have my interview letter in hand
And it takes up to 3 months

We're still working on trying to break them but just in case ....

Anyone else got good things about the USCIS-enforced long engagement?

This may seem a little odd, but every week I try to throw out something I have not touched for two years of more. It could be little or big.
Every time I buy something new for the home now, I buy in terms of "us". In my mind, it is a way of transitioning from the old to the new. I am not in a great rush and it becomes sort of a game of purposeful planning. I also find home life is less cluttered, simple and fun!

Another positive thing is I have a decent work out schedule. This passes time and lessens stress just a little. It has kept me fit and I have lost weight...so when I get married, will I gain weight back and be more happy instead? smile.gif

I have been doing the same thing while waiting it out through this grueling process. I even started a box for our new home. I also look at this as the start of my new life and I am preparing myself for our new life together as soon as he arrives.. The good thing is that I have donated so much stuff to the Salvation Army and I also feel that my house is less cluttered. Good for the mind as well!
